@RubyRed427 are you planning to keep this challenge going, or maybe starting a new one?4

New to this but challenge and support is what I need and am willing to give. Older woman soon to be 68 but finally both shots and feel like there may be an end in sight. However have gained 15 pounds during Covid. How do I join?6

I think you just did!
Just set a goal for yourself and start keeping yourself accountable. Post your progress (both the ups and downs) here periodically. We're all pursuing our goals and encouraging one another in our efforts.7 -

April thru July is exactly 13 weeks. I've read the recommended safe weight loss rate as being one or two pounds per week, so that would be 13-26 pounds total. But that's meant to be an upper limit I think, although some people are able to exceed that. Others are much closer to their goal weight, so half a pound is still an accomplishment. It really depends on each persons circumstances. I like shooting for the stars, so I'll go with 26 pounds!6 -

I'm in a real slump....This has been a bad week and I have not been tracking or walking or getting out of the house at all for that matter. Need a kick in the virtual butt!!

I think that sounds great. I'd probably set my goal for 10 lbs.4 -

Hi Ruby, count me in...I started at 285, now at 267, lost 18 pounds. My goal weight is 245, 22 pounds to go.6 -
Weight loss is a life change...I'm an up and down dieter. I weighted 306 in April 2019, My A1C was off the charts as diabetic and asthmatic, that's not good news. I went from 306 to 274 in 10 months to 274 in Feb of last year. Then the pandemic hit, and old habits returned, my sweet tooth and all. It seems like you always gain faster than you lose. I gained back 19 pounds to 293. In Nov I started back again. I lost 7 pound, until I started here on the loss 30 by March 31. Happy to say that I've dropped 18 pounds since January. I look forward to reaching my goal weight of 245 by July.
What keeps me motivated...this group, and weighing myself everyday, but not counting it until my weigh in day. Another motivator in walking in my bathroom looking at all of this, and shaking my head. Also, I have three areas of suits, my heavy suits, my fat suits and my very obese suits. When I reach my goal weight, I'll be able to wear my heavy suits again...
Let's do this!

I’d love to keep going with this group, too! It has been so helpful to check in with a supportive, like-minded group. Knowing these goals take time, it would be great to be able to continue cheering you all on while also motivating me!7

I am going to end this thread at the end of March BUT I will post a link to a new thread, so we can all jump over to the new thread (bookmark it). I'll reset the parameters and months... and off we'll go.
Today at work, my colleague said wow I can see you slimmed down. She said all your walking is paying off. But honestly the weight lost has plateaued but I must have lost some inches or centimeters or millimeters.
What I plan on doing for the new thread is I'm going to take my measurements down for myself so I can see more than just weight loss in terms of pounds.

Monday March 23rd Check In
SW 162
GW 140
Today's Weight 155.2
Very surprised the numbers on the scale are not up much more!
Very off track with MFP goals last week and only one day into this week already.
Gonna keep trying to re-balance life, and stick with something I want to do for myself....stay on MFP, record calorie intakes, make healthy nourishing food choices, get more exercise and keep connected with the positive folks here in this group. So glad I found you!!!7 -

Good morning ALL!!! I've been quiet on the progress reporting lately! Not gunna lie, I've been struggling with the slow weight loss but in all reality I have not followed the program as good as I could have! In saying that, I've lost 17.6lbs since December 2019 and have enjoyed many treats along the way! What I'm striving for the next few months is continued weight loss and loss of inches while enjoying life, because as we all know, it's all too short! I hope you all are having an amazing week and I just want to say thank you for sharing your journey's as each one of you inspire me...we are all in this together and have the same struggles!! Strive for progress, not perfection
Take care, Shannon
December 2019 - 176.2
December 2020 - 164.8
March 2021 - 158.67 -
I'm glad the thread is continuing because I need it. I've gone off the rails. My husbands birthday ran into our anniversary and it's been non stop eating. I'll get back on the scale Saturday. ugh!7

You're 158! That is my goal for this next challenge. I really felt good before Covid (about 1.5 years ago) I weighed 158 and I felt thin enough. I bet you look great! It's true- we are in this together!!7 -
“MODERATION. SMALL HELPINGS. SAMPLE A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING. THESE ARE THE SECRETS OF HAPPINESS AND GOOD HEALTH.” – JULIA CHILD
Truly, we don’t need to deny ourselves foods we enjoy. But we do need to practice moderation. Smaller, appropriate portions can be incorporated in our “diet”.
There are, however, some foods I used to binge on and, so, I don’t have them in the house. I’ve declared these “special occasion” foods. It’s just my way of maintaining control over those evil foods, lol.
My “special occasion” foods are alcohol, salty white carbs (crackers, chips), and sweets. Of these I’ve only had one mixed drink since first of the year (special occasion: visiting daughter). Thankfully the salty and sweet cravings have left me.
What foods have all of you given up or declared “special occasion” only?5 -

Great question! My special occasion food that I used to always have on hand and ate nearly everyday after supper is ice cream. It’s the one thing that I just can’t do ‘in moderation’ I decided I would no longer buy it but if me or the kids wanted to have some, we could walk over to the convenience store and buy a single treat. But...I have not yet done this in 3 months!! And I don’t miss it 😀
However, both my kids had birthdays during that window and we celebrated with a piece of ice cream cake.

Ice cream is my weakness and I just cannot have the good stuff (full fat) in the house. That being said, I have discovered lighter ice creams (Nick's, Halo) and I do buy these though they are comparatively expensive. However, an entire pint is under 300 calories, so it is a guilt free indulgence.6
