37 and started running last year due to COVID. I was always against it for reasons I can't quite remember anymore lol! Now I enjoy the wind whipping past me, feeling my body move and react to my surroundings. What a rush! Can't believe I waited this long to try it.5

I'm also a slow runner. I consider myself a No-man's runner. On races, I'm slower than the runners, faster than the walkers so I fall, in that space where it's quiet/spacious.2

I have been running for about 2 years now due to covid most of my scheduled runs were pushed back to this year I've got 3 half marathons this year. I never liked running in high school or when I was in the Army, now I enjoy it. nothing like setting out on a run with no real route planned just go wherever and how far my legs will take me. Ultimate goal is to run a marathon.1

I'm just returning to running, I was pretty serious about it in my early and mid forties, got more serious about cycling for quite a while, then opened a business and quit doing any sort of self care. That is changing this year, I'm trying to both ride more and harder, and I'm training for a 5K in mid May, and hope to continue on to longer distances again.2

I bought a pool belt to help me run without the impact. I have an appointment later this month for a run analysis/PT at the UW, unless cancelations come up and I can get in earlier. Has anyone had luck with this?0

I usually do a long-ish run on Sunday, midmorning. Today was 7 miles followed by a 1 mile cool down walk. My feet are sore today. I'm wearing Brooks Ghost, but used to be a fan of Mizuno Wave Inspire. It seems difficult to find my size and style for a good price any more.0

I did the couchto5k program, and I'm on day 1. I ran for four minutes, which is more than I thought I could do. I mean, they were split into one minute intervals, but still...good.5

I ran 15 miles yesterday. I'm running Texas Trail Running Festival Marathon in less than 8 weeks now. The run yesterday was pretty miserable but today's was nice. I'm getting more and more excited by the day...5

DancingMoosie: Have you tried Brooks Adrenaline? I used to run in the Wave Inspire, but then they got too narrow for me. I used to love the ASICS Kinsei, but they then narrowed the toe too much and stopped making them.
Neffy 1989: That's awesome that you were able to run 4 minutes, progress is progress and it's a start. Good luck on your running journey. I've always had a love/hate relationship with running (painful memories of gym class), but I still try.1 -
LoveyChar: Good luck on the remainder of your training and the race. Is this your first one and/or the first one since the pandemic? We tried a virtual type one (it was more of a challenge), but it just didn't have the same feel; I love the traditional race atmosphere.1

I'm 63 years old, female and run 40+ miles a week. I started when I was 35 and have always loved it. I believe that everyone can find exercise that they love. When you find it you keep doing it.4

I have not tried the adrenaline. I'm thinking I probably don't need that much support. I really liked the last model of revels, before they switched it from a light cushion shoe to energy. Not sure what to try next that won't be too $$$0 -
@DancingMoosie have you tried to see if you can get the old model? Sometimes you can get a really good deal.0

Hey. Team sloth here, slow is the new fast 🤣. Started running last year with C25K, did a couple of 5k's. Have regained some weight and struggling to get back into it. Going to have a go at 'jeffing' to get me back out there!1

Me either! I just looked it up. Its using the run/ walk method, which is what I dofor my long runs. I do run 10 min, walk 1, and I do find that my time is faster than I'd I just ran.

I don't know...I'm confused, reading. They almost seem the same. You say tomato and I say to-motto but they're the same thing!2 -
@LoveyChar I think fartleks is speed work. When you are running you speed up for a random distance. For example, I'll sprint until the next tree, then slow down, recover and pick a new spot.
The other, I call 10 and 1s, you do your whole run running 10, walking 1. Even at the beginning when you don't need that break. The theory is letting your body recover for that one min will keep your average pace higher than if you just run. It's also great for when you get tired. Instead of thinking I've got 5 km left, it's I've got 6 min until a rest.
Right now I'm doing 3 runs a week. One is sprints, one is 4 km steady run and one is 8 k. 10 and 1s. Last week, my pace for the steady run was 6.29/km and my pace for the 8km was 6:34/km. So quite similar even though we had 4 walk breaks.1 -
72 years old and TKR runner here! Average about 20 miles a week--sandy beach, sandy trails, concrete bridges and asphalt roads. Soft sand slows you down and trails have their rooted peril but love living in Florida where all is available. Just switched from Brooks Beast for many years to Hoka Cliftons 7's and love the cushioning, but the negative heel takes some getting used to and they do help the knees! Keep on running folks!
