Hey everyone, new here.
I have just surpassed my highest weight ever. I've been up and down between 185 and 215 the last few years, but I'd really like to go even lower and hopefully maintain it this time. In the past I've had success with keto, yoga, mild cardio and strength exercises, and tracking my meals on apps like this (I used to use LoseIt!) but I've never gotten myself to maintain a good workout routine and I've always gained the weight back. Hopefully having a community here will be the key to success!
Currently trying to do intermittent fasting 16:8, low carbs (not exactly keto, but it was the best thing for me in the past so I might try a keto-ish diet), and mild to hopefully increasing home exercises daily/every other day. I work at a desk so I really need to move my body more. Cheers to 2021!
Age: 26
Height: 5'10"
Starting weight: 222 lbs5 -
Oh it is exciting to see the posts roll in on this thread! Welcome to all the new folks! I hope you find this community as encouraging and supportive as I have. I still feel very new myself (June 2020 start) and have learned soooo much from all of these ladies. What I think I love the most is that the support is there when we are doing well...and when we are majorly struggling! This isn't an easy process but having strong women who have been there too? That makes is a whole lot more fun.7

Today the rain let up for a while and I got out for a robust 45 minute walk. Let me just say this: music is a very good thing! If it hadn't been for the random playlist on Spotify, I probably wouldn't have walked as long as I did. Let me also say this: if you live in a rainy climate like I do, in the PNW then it's worth it to invest in a good rain coat. One of the keys for me sticking to the exercise commitment end of weight loss is that I want to make sure what I'm doing is enjoyable because then I am more likely to stick to it and do it for longer. Walking is enjoyable to me. I am filled with gratitude that I still have two strong legs to carry me about and that I can get outside and enjoy this beautiful earth.8

I could just cry! My boss took a picture of me today as I presented a customer with a prize from Christmas draw, he posted the picture on company fb page, I look so grosse, I didn't realize I let myself get back to that size again. I am printing that picture off and putting it by my makeup mirror, if that doesn't motivate me, I don't know what will.🥲🥲🥲13

Age:31 (Turning 32 in April)
Height: 5'2"
Start Weight: 292lbs. on November 6, 2020
I do weigh in's on Mondays.
Current Weight: 260lbs. on January 4, 2020
I've lost a total of 32lbs. in almost 2 months.
I can't decide on a goal weight. I thought about 150 lbs. because I'm getting older and don't need to be stick skinny. Then, my mom suggested 130 lbs. When I was 19 years old, I weighed 117 lbs. So, I think once I get to 150, then I will decide if I want to keep going or change my diet to maintain that weight. I mainly want to be healthy, feel healthy, and feel good about myself.
Goals For the Month is to
-Continue to maintain a healthy diet.
-Drink more water
-Go to the Gym more
-More Routine on my weekends.
Goals For the Year is to
-Become a healthier person
-Love myself

GrammaLisa, totally agree around walking. We started March 15 last year and try to get out for 3,4 or 6 km per day.
Angif05 I dont want to take away what you are feeling but always remember the sum of who you are is soooo much more than a number on the scale, its how you are, what is in your heart and how you are loved by others. That is true beauty,
Sending positive thoughts to everyone and welcome those who have just started. So grateful for all your posts. When I think of all of you who are walking this trough day by day I feel the energy renewed.4 -
My treadmill will be here Saturday!
I haven’t had the best week so far and it’s only Tuesday. 😭 I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of dieting.
I need motivation!
Any tips?

Sad day: the mochi ice cream I bought is disappointing.
If you like mango and mochi ice cream, skip My/Mo sweet mango flavor. The ice cream tastes exactly like a Flintstones push pop, hardly like mango at all. I hate to waste food or money, so like, I'm still going to eat the other five (eventually, not all in one sitting), but they just aren't as good as I was hoping they would be.

Wish me success!6 -

Music! Put together a playlist of 6 to 8 songs that you love, then crank it up and move to the beat. Put one slow song at the end for a cool down.
Visualize. Imagine meeting your future self this summer, the gal that stayed on track. She's smoking hot, right? Meditate on this vision regularly. I especially like to do this one and imagine myself on a warm beach.
Rewards. Set up some rewards for yourself for certain milestones. For instance, I love Zevia 0 calorie Root Beer but it's expensive so I don't buy it. When I log a 5 lb drop, I'm going to get a 6 pack as a reward.
You will feel better! The important thing is to keep trying.3 -
@Babycarrot337 thanks! Also i was surprised to find more than one “babycarrot” username. Lol had to scroll up to see which one was you.1

I really want to snack unhealthy things tonight. Does anyone else have to talk themselves off the snack shelf ledge on weigh in days? My inner sugar addict says ah you have all week to burn it off now so one snack won’t hurt. Ugh! I am resisting but wow it is hard. I’m not even hungry. I feel really full and satisfied but it is just the craving for junk that comes on strong right after weigh in. And yes i realize one snack won’t tip the whole apple cart but i’m trying hard to retrain myself to not reach for things just because i am craving them. Usually if i can talk myself out of it for 15 min then the craving passes and i no longer want it. So i thought i’d come post on here to pass a few of those moments. I hope everyone is having a great week!3

@iloveeggnog I'm also not logging my weight currently.
December ended up swinging between fasting, running, eating, celebrating, fasting running. Last night was our last evening of celebration. My Dad and his wife packed up their caravan and left early this am, its been a wonderful reunion after a really hard and emotional breakdown for my Dad. He was baptised on Sunday, our pastor did it privately in a friend's pool, only a few witnesses, it was beautiful. My son turned 17 on the 4th, so another celebration and last night we had pizza and the left over wine on the lawn (My first pizza in 10 months) Anyway this am, I went on a run and walk, loved it, have pre-logged my meals. I'm back ladies, now I need to start logging losses, no more maintenance!! Onwards and downwards!!

Oh this photo is part of my running loop, it's glorious!! It's very humid here, summer in full swing!!

Just found this group, so joining, albeit a little late.
I've been on this journey before in 2015, starting at 213 ish lbs down to 184 lbs, with which I was very happy! My weight has been up and down all my life, but seems to just steadily increase over the last couple of years. I'm turning 40 in November and I really want to be in better shape by then! I used to walk to work everyday (5 miles), which kept me reasonably fit, but I now commute via car (different job) and hardly get to walk/hike, although I love it. I hate gyms, like really hate them, so outdoor exercise or some yoga at home is perfect. I'm not after quick success (been there) only to fail again. As long as my weight goes down, I'm happy. I don't have a specific goal weight, I just want to feel good within myself. An estimate would be to get below 190 lbs. Oh, and I'm 5'11" and a vegetarian - if anyone has any good recipes
So:
CW 237 lbs
GW less than 190 lbs
Goal this month? Walk more and eat regularly!

Hi all and happy new year! I was part of the December thread and I liked the way we supported each other through the holidays, so I'm back for 2021!
Age: 32 Height: 5'5"
Highest weight: 320 lbs (end of pregnancy weight, June 2020)
01/6: 291
01/13
01/20
01/27
1st GW: 220 lbs, so I can change blood thinning meds (had deep vein thrombosis in October).
2nd GW: 180 lbs (weight I was at in high school).
3rd GW: 160 lbs.
That's a 2.8lb loss since my last weigh-in on Dec. 31! I guess shoveling snow and continuing my deep-clean of my house is the perfect way to burn off calories. I also started dancing in my living room following along to YouTube videos under the watchful eye of my 6-month-old. She finds me hilarious (especially when I jump and make the whole house shake).
We should be going back into full lockdown with a curfew tonight. Husband is an essential services worker, so it doesn't really impact us, except for the fact that we have to wait a little while longer to see our family. And that his salary might take a dip since he'll be making less tips. But we'll manage.6 -

Okay, as I look out my office window at the snow piled up, with the sounds of the freezing rain hitting the roof as background noise, I am officially jealous!! I came back to this game on Monday and am ramping up to do my first in public run on the weekend. I have NO idea why I have such stress and anxiety about it. But I think once I do it once, I will be fine. It's the only way I can run outside now since my track is buried. I will think of you getting to see this view as I jump over snow banks haha3 -
January 1, 2021 - 200 lbs. Highest weight of all time was in January 2013 (215 lbs), lowest adult weight was 169 lbs (June 2013). Goal for 2021 is to get back down to 170. I looked and felt great at that weight. I'm finding it really hard to get motivated to work out on days I have to work (i.e. 6 days a week), but having a MFP community is helping! Feel free to add me if you want some accountability in your newsfeed!1
