Dee - That was great and so very imaginative! :D Just shows what you can do.

Ate far too much haggis >:) and sweet potato. Broccoli. Whisky sauce. Ooops! I did manage half an hour bonus rowing listening to my German. But I will only squeak through after stewed apples and yoghurt. But at least it's a squeak.
It's not been a brilliant day, but I am being kind to myself.

    Singing Zoom tomorrow.

I've been ordering a few Valentine gifts for DH. A pair of extra warm ski gloves. He suffers horribly with cold hands, but I know he won't keep up with the rechargeable heated ones. :# I bought him hand warmers a few years ago, but he never takes them out with him. Grrrr! Hard to change the habits of a lifetime.
Plus our very favourite cocoa dusted truffles. Posh ginger biscuits. (He loves them) And a card, because our shops are all shut.
Haven't decided yet what to eat on the day. One year he cooked the whole meal and it was amazing! If I cook it's got to be easy peasy.

My purple camisole arrived today. :D

Dee- Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Started Divinchi code this morning. It has been years since I have gotten lost in a book.

Progressive glasses- my eyes are a mess. One is far sided. One is near sighted. Astigmatism in both. Cataracts starting in both. Can't read with either. I LOVE my progressive lenses . Just tilt my chin a little differently for different vision. I really think it depends more on the prescription and the glass maker. Before progressives, I went to a chain place for prescription and glasses. They weren't even progressive lenses, but made me sick everytime I tried to wear them. They remade lenses 3 times. I gave up. At that point needed them to help with headaches. A few years passed. Went to private eye dr. When my glasses came in with progressive lenses, I put them on my face and never had a problem. Everyone is different, but I wouldn't trade my progressive lenses except for clear vision or contacts 😂

Allie -good to hear from you!

I wear bifocals with the line cut low instead of mid pupil. It makes distance easier because that dividing line is lower in my field of view. It doesn't bother my reading to have it that way. But I have separate glasses for the computer.

My meditation group starts soon. I have two, both on Zoom. It sounds weird to meditate together online, but I highly recommend it. It is calming and social, without the stress of actual conversation. Plus I would skip a lot more without the group meeting.

thanks for all the sharing on glasses. many approaches!

@cityjaneLondon Heather; for cold hands, I really recommend silk under gloves. something about silk like wool, it keeps you warm when touching your skin. I swear by them. they can be worn alone or under other gloves. They are not expensive. They are about 10 euros in France.

I was not fast, but also I took some break. I just worked a tiny bit on thesis. I was following that video I posted about today that said to do something for 1 minute a day is better than to say you're gonna do more than you can manage.

better than nothing. now it's 10pm.

good day though, finished and sent off test. (deadline today)

I think the high HR for 20 min on recumbent really ups my morale.

I felt out of sorts, and concentration before and way better after.

    Progressive Lenses
I have worn progressive lenses for many years. I have astigmatism and am far sighted so I think it is impossible to have lasik eye surgery (at least that's what my eye doc said). I am hoping at some point if/when I need cataract surgery to get my vision back without glasses. My mom could see everything without glasses until her death at 91. She had cataract surgery in her 60's. My biggest problem with progressive lenses is stepping off a step or curb. It's like I have to stop, look down and judge the distance.

kylia: I love Dan Brown books. I always learn something new and the plots are always exciting. They are certainly hard to put down. I understand why you were up late to finish!

Worked today so no formal exercise. The plan for tomorrow is to do a body pump video

Mrs_Hoffer – what a lovely tribute to your father! When my father passed, Vince couldn’t understand why I needed to bury his ashes asap. He kept saying “they’re only ashes”. But I needed closure. Even tho we had a memorial, mass and everything, I just couldn’t have this hanging over my head. Now when his mother passed, I insisted that they mail her ashes to his family (his cousin is an undertaker) mainly because I knew that he’d never get around to burying them. And here we are, 15 years later, and he STILL hasn’t gone out to MO. I’m guessing by now his cousin has retired and they probably buried the ashes. She wanted to be buried in MO, and I just knew Vince would never get to it.

Debbie CA – I don’t think I’ve ever had starchy water spewing out of my IP. Now I have had just regular water

Went to senior bowling. Didn’t even break 100 all three games, but one I came VERY close to breaking 100, I was just 2 pins off. Oh well… Mahjongg tonight

Barbara – unfortunately, I can’t fish out the peppers and stuff. I think it was too much of the cayenne pepper (and that’s a powder). Oh well, if anything it gets me to drink more  :)

Kylia – I didn’t know that freezing your chili makes it hotter!

Heather – do you cook the sweet potatoes individually or can you do multiple at one time? If you can do multiples, how do you determine the cook time? Thanks for reminding me that I need to get Valentines cards for Jess, Denise and PJ. I usually take them with me to FL but this time I will probably mail them from NC

Carol GA – have you been in touch with Lenora?

I have the progressive lenses and really like them

    Sue WA – beautiful rainbow!

Going to work some on the jigsaw puzzle for my girlfriend, then have dinner, then mahjongg.

    Take care everyone!

I have astigmatism and far sighted too. I had cataract surgery 4 yrs ago(both eyes, three months apart)- I had the option to have them fix my vision so I wouldn't have to wear glasses, which I have done since forth grade BUT Kaiser wanted to charge an extra $1400 per eye to add the fix (I think that was the price, might have been more but I do know I am too cheap to pay that much more)

Michele - It doesn't matter how many potatoes you have as long as they are the same circumference. The one I cooked tonight to go with the haggis was just over 8 inches and came out perfectly.

Feeling a bit achey. I will sleep upstairs tonight and take some pain killers. Plus indigestion tablets . :p

My son gave me his log in for Netflix and I managed to put it on my tablet. I will investigate our TV tomorrow. It is pretty ancient and most Internet stuff has closed down. Some dispute with Samsung. . ;) We did try to fit a Fire stick once, but it didn't fit in the slot. We could get it on DH'S tv, but I don't want to sit in his study! I don't think DH will be interested anyway and we already have masses of stuff recorded to watch, but I really want to watch Call My Agent and The Dig. I like watching on my tablet and it means I can row at the same time.
He is only allowed two watchers at once, so have to choose my moment! Not early evening because of the kids or much of the evening at all because the au pair might be using it. :* Looks like afternoon then!

    Regarding Glasses --

I also have astigmatism in both eyes, but it's different in each eye. My vision is also different in each eye.

In my late 40s, my vision changed (again) and the advice was to get progressive lenses. I went to a chain store and got a pair of progressives. They told me it would take me a few days, maybe a week to get used to them and then I should be good to go. Two weeks later I still felt seasick every time I wore them and could not see clearly through any part of them.

I went back to the place and tried again ... nope. Didn't work. We were in the process of moving to Tasmania then, so I told them to give me a pair of bifocals and a pair of distance glasses.

That worked for a while, but a couple years later when I started university and was spending 18 hours a day in front of a computer between work and uni, I needed something different. I debated about going to the chain store - after all it was cheap - but then decided to go to a more professional place. They did a much more thorough exam and got me into progressives that work!

My husband also goes there and has progressive lenses with prism in one lens to help correct his double vision. Recently he attended an eye surgery (specialist eye clinic) and they confirmed that the choice our optometrist had made for him was as good as she could get it. They were impressed because some places are sloppy.

    Regarding Valentines <3 --

I had forgotten about it! It's kind of a low key thing in Australia and we don't really celebrate it except for maybe exchanging cards.

Regarding Books that keep me up late --

At this point, I like my sleep better than reading. :)

But I'm wading through a whole bunch of "mystery" genre books these days. I read a chapter or two on Friday and Saturday nights or on holidays.
