Allie - Sooooo happy for you! <3:D

Barbie - Glad Jake is pleased with his new toy. :D Should keep him busy for a while. I'm on Android and find any kind of system switch hugely anxiety making, but after yesterday's patience testing session with DH I believe I am a technical wizard!
Will the two systems cause problems syncing with computer and phone?
My life got much better when I installed Chrome on my laptop. I have it on phone, tablet and laptop now.

Tracey - I might back up my photos and videos onto his stick. Or buy one. I have them all on Dropbox, and a lot on various sticks over the years, but it doesn't hurt to have another place. I would really hate to lose the videos of the kids. I also have a lot of them on a WiFi stick.
DH won't use the cloud and I don't think he has a Google account, because he's always complaining about having to give his details when he tries to install an app. So he doesn't install it. I don't have to do that . I don't use my Gmail, apart from getting notifications from them.
I'm a bit obsessive about backing up. I do my Word documents on Dropbox and then save to the device I'm working on.

It will be nice to (hopefully) have a printer that doesn't involve 20 minutes of DH swearing at it, every time we want to print out a page of song lyrics! :D

Lovely day again. Might run after lunch. I slept well last night.

If you've got an Android phone and PC laptop you can plug the phone into the laptop with a cable. Then you can download your photos onto the laptop.

If you want to back them up you can use a USB stick (they are quite large now) in your laptop or an external hard drive.

I don't leave photos on my phone without doing the above steps. It's too easy to lose a phone.

Allie, so glad the operation went well.
Heather, it seems like there are connectors from anything to anything these days. The photo made me laugh!

    Start rituals done today:
    walk 15+ min outside,
    meditate,
    20+ min on recumbent
    4x 15 min cleaning...
-scrubbing door frames and the like, bits of floor
-sofa cover in and out of laundry, hanging to dry
    -organizing bathroom a bit
-once over and sweep most everywhere
    sketch
Also sat in tiny park in sun for a few minutes for meditation and walked around 1x and smelled the lilacs and other flowers
    <3

    have tracked so far
    :)

    To do today
have to look at and deal with M's mail from Sunday (stressful subject and my computer's in the shop which doesn't help)
    prep 4pm meeting
    4pm meeting
    6pm appointment
    Writing and note taking.

dealing with M's mail makes me stressed.
M is helpful but the subject is stressful and with a firm deadline.

i also have to call my lawyer... somewhat similar though less deadline, but he's hard to reach. it often takes a few calls.

Allie-Sleep Apnea tends to make AFIB worse. Steve has AFIB and has used a CPAP for about 4 years. His nose piece is an air cushion. Not hateful for him or me. It is nice for me to be able to sleep as he snored horribly. Now he too sleeps through any snoring that I might do ;) FOLLOW DOCTORS ORDERS!!

Machka- Loved your garden pics! Such bright colors! Thanks for the info about Android phones and the ease/ability to upload pics and other things into the computer. As of now, I have been either posting pics to facebook on my phone or emailing them to Tim on my phone; then we save them in our computer from those places.
    KJ (Kelly)

That is the long way around. :)

A phone is just like a USB or external hard drive. Plug it into the laptop and it shows up in the list when you open File Explorer. Right now my File Explorer shows my Google Drive, my One Drive, my phone, the two drives in my laptop and one of my many external hard drives.

However, I will add one thing. You've got to log into your phone for it to show up. If you haven't used your password to open your phone, it won't show up. Or if you don't use a password, you've got to activate your phone some way.

Incidentally, the reason I've got an external hard drive hooked up just now is because I'm transferring all my uni stuff to the external hard drive and off my Google Drive, One Drive, laptop and out of all my email accounts. It's everywhere!! And I don't want to look at everywhere I go.

I find it much easier to edit photos and things on my laptop where I can use my keyboard and mouse ... and where I can see what I'm looking at with my questionable eyesight! I've got a 15" screen on my laptop and a second screen that is 21 inches. :)

:)Heather, I am staying completely out of Jake's computer set up. I told him that if he bought an Apple instead of a PC, I wouldn't be able to help him and he said that was fine with him. His daughter and some of his friends and various Apple help services are available. I'm just delighted that he's not using my computer.

:) My dog walking friend won't be walking with us this morning. Her daughter and son in law from Idaho are here for a visit. That means I'll have more time to listen to my audiobook. The book is over 29 hours long and I am down to the last four hours.

:)Kelly, your projects with your kids remind me of some fun things I did when I taught first grade. It also makes me grateful that I am retired. I taught for just the right amount of time so that I enjoyed every minute of it.

But if they've gone into an artery, my understanding is that you're not supposed to move much in the first few days.

I had an angiogram several years ago that went in my arm, and I wasn't to move that arm much for about a week. As I recall, I had to stay home from work for a week, and for at least 5 days I wasn't to leave home or put a jacket on or anything because of the arm movement involved and chance of bleeding.

Allie: I’m so glad to see that you’re doing well.

Heather: The tulips are bright, cheerful and lovely. The path through the trees looks inviting. The ladies in the nightclub made me laugh out loud.

Barbie: DH and I are also Apple users, as is our son. We have iphones and computers. My laptop is from 2009 and I still use it to visit here. DH has a desktop & ipad. Our daughter uses android products as do several of my longtime friends. Luckily, we can all connect via Zoom.

We’ve been in touch with our adult kids and they are doing well. We had hoped that DS and DDIL would visit us this summer, but that isn’t likely to happen. We just learned that she is expecting. We are thrilled for them and excited. Our daughter will be here this summer to attend a family wedding. We’re looking forward to seeing her. I plan to attend the wedding with her. Our favorite niece is getting married.

Went for my run. For some reason my back ached more than usual, but I completed it OK. We did stop at the posh bakery to buy our favourite ricotta and spinach pies. Two we will eat for lunch tomorrow and two I have frozen.

Amended my online grocery order. For some reason it didn't like the card I always use and they have on file. I used my new personal card and it went through OK. So, I've transferred the money over.
I ordered a bottle of champagne, which was on offer, for our meeting anniversary next month. Can't go out to eat. ;)

Did a good session of editing this morning. Good day.
Just got to wait for the new printer to arrive. They are saying Saturday, but it might come early.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: gas, Post Office, BiMart, Dollar Tree, Library, Freddie’s, Grocery Outlet
Bonus: foggy chilly beachwalk with T and Shadow.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, find those torture bands, budget meeting notes, board meeting minutes, call D re: sticky keyboard, Norton and windows updates, watch for refund from Interpath for Joe’s labs paid on Feb statement call S, fire district: ongoing: input 2019 call sheets into NFIRS, work with chief on equipment letter, substance abuse policy, NFIRS mutual aid and other missing details, call Credit union re: credit card, ask for boots donator contact info, appreciation letter or certificate to boots donator, index mutual aid files; watch STAS Day 20, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (Do Your Thing, Pure Movies to Wine, Beer, Whiskey, I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One Margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant the last of the naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, next BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Reward: inventory seeds, plan this spring’s garden, wishlist replenishments (Milena F1 orange peppers), Monday: call Jeanette at Chetco about what codes were used for my annual labs, Wednesday: Grand Jury, county planning office neighbor’s plans, Thursday Shadow and Tumble to Gold Beach shelter for nail trims, Friday: locksmith for mailbox key.
    Active April:
20: Spend less time sitting today. Get up and move often: Starting with vacuuming, then laundry, then changing linens, then dogs to powerline, then, then…

Shadow is resisting getting into the car. Saturday I practically had to lift/push her in, no treats availed. Monday I had to leash her up and lead her in. I know she’s afraid of the vehicle noises nearby at dog group and on some of the hikes with T. Explained this to T when we met up at the campground parking lot and she suggested that instead we take Shadow to the beach where she could run off leash and romp in the surf. Great idea! Unlike my self-directing terriers, Shadow’s part GSD heritage keeps her checking in, looking to us, running back before ranging out again. She looked so happy it almost brought tears. T encouraged me to explore a little “UP” the path that connects the beach to the Oregon Coast Trail and ends up at Rainbow Rock condos. A little was all I could manage, but her gentle encouragement and patience sure helps me build both confidence and stamina. She never pushes, always stands ready to support and turn back whenever I want to. This is a true friend.

Happy Birthday Terri! Hope it's filled with fun!
Lisa Cascade hops, YES! My favorite!!! And well-valued by the PNW brewers at least ;)
Annie, I haven’t tried these mint chip popsicles, but the dark chocolate dipped pops are delish at only 120 C, less than half the calories of a teensy serving of B&J’s NY Super Fudge Chunk (one of my many downfalls.)
Rebecca like the new profile pic. Your smile says it all. That is one prolific bubble machine ;)
Heather following your progress with DH closely. Fighting the temptation to sneak into Joe’s man cave and just connect/test the d@mn soundbar, but holding back as he’ll be so proud of himself when he finally figures it out… Which printer did you choose? Price increases and shipping charges would make me mad, except I’d try to see it as a “learning opportunity” for DH. Not sure you can use the same stick on an Android as an iphone, think the ports are different. You might need to get your own ;) Or just keep using dropbox. The green lane pic really draws me in and your tulips are brilliant. Here are our tulips, will atke a new cistern path pic and post later. “only the vaccinated” ROTFLMAOWMP! 8317coslbiiq.jpg

Debbie and Kim black licorice ice cream sounds about as appealing to me as the garlic ice cream at Gilroy’s Stinking Rose festival.
Margaret I admire and envy your composting skill. Banana skins would never break down in our mild climate. Do you turn your compost or let nature and the weather take its course?
Vicki your niece and her other children live 100 miles away from where her 33 week old baby is? Do you live in the town with the hospital? Sorry her father?/uncle? is adding drama not needed at this time.
Julie could there be something in the MD’s email you need to know now? Like an appointment date/time? Could putting off reading it make you sick with worry? ((hugs))
Kim I like your bound book idea, but I’d only put the info in one place, then cross reference to save on updating duplicates. e.g. under C for cell phone and P for phone I'd say ’See ATT” ;)
Michele “…if you value your fingers…” LOL. And now way its already popcorn stringing time… its April, Michele, April!
Allie thankful to hear from you. Sleep sweet and take it easy. Machka makes good points, can you call your Dr or his PA to confirm when you can return to driving? Whoops! ;)
Tracey thanks for the info about the iphone at one end, usb at the other stick. So far my little 99 cent/month icloud subscription has been more than enough storage for getting photos from iphone to windows laptop. To me its worth the monthly charge for the automatic backup of the iphone ;)
Pip  the pink flamingo. Do you have a plan for cooling off if it gets too hot?
Machka and Lisa regarding rice I too use brown rice mostly but love sticky Japanese rice so sometimes treat myself. Joe won’t eat brown rice, likes long grain white like Uncle Ben used to cook ;) Ferrero Rochere always look so appealing, until I bite into one and remember I’m not such a fan of hazelnuts… ;)
KJ I share your leery-ness about the cloud even though I do use it for photos and phone backup. None of our financials are on either phone or any other wireless device. My laptop is hard wire connected to our internet service with wifi turned off and disabled so I feel somewhat comfortable about online banking and purchasing. Just say “NO” to the Apple wallet or any phone based buying, imho. I feel the same way about the smart home devices and Siri, Echo, Hey Google, etc. Big brother IS listening. OMG that water table/wall sounds like just the ticket when the temps and humidity climb!
Machka congrats on gathering all your uni data and moving it off onto a USB drive. Thirty. I find life totally easier on my laptop with keyboard than any touch screen device. Have I told you lately how badly I suck a touchscreens?
Katka sad to hear your DS and DDIL won’t be coming this summer but congratulations on their exciting good news!
Tina glad you never got sliced by that brilliant invention, and never got your fingers frozen to it. I miss my icemaker, but tolerate our plastic-not-solicone trays.

Joe’s on his way back from Medford so if I’m going to finish the “while-he’s’away” chores I’d better get moving.

    Lighter, lovelies!

Despite all of my whining and my husband's complaining, shot number one is in my arm. I got a little emotional -- there were so many people around, so I didn't actually cry, but it took a lot of effort to keep the tears back.

Pip Look what I found at Marshall's at the wall by the cashiers! I thought of you and bought it as we have to bring reusable bags everywhere or gt flimsy paper sacks that break immediately on getting out the door.

Does anyone else remember when businesses switched to plastic in order to save trees?

Allie So glad the surgery went well. Do stay safe.

Heather the flowers were simply lovely. I so enjoyed the green trail. I live near wonderful state parks, some overlooking a bay. There is nothing better than entering a cool wood on a hot summer day.

My daughter uses those all the time. I need to buy one for myself.

    Tracey

What does the USB stick do? Or what's it for?

It’s a USB that fits into an iPhone or iPad charging port. You can transfer your photos and files to it for storage or moving just like any other USB stick. It’s quite convenient according to my daughter.

do you know if they have one for Android phones?
It used to be so easy to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer-one cable connecting the two and done. With my new phone it doesn't recognize the phone and won't let me download the way I used to.
I don't use my phone for much but that is one of the main things I want to be able to do(took me a very long time to figure out how to download my own pictures and not have to ask for help
