This is actually my first time trying limited deficit cycles (but not my first attempt at losing the weight). And this is the first deficit period I've been in. The idea is more for psychological support - I started at 250.6lbs and have to lose 125lbs, so I have a long road ahead. My last deficit weigh in is tomorrow, but as of last week I'd lost 18lbs in 12 weeks, so a little over 7% of my total body weight. I'm aiming to lose between 5 and 10% of my weight each cycle.

Well maybe not too much lows this week. In the back of my thoughts I was thinking I'd be okay with maintaining this week, well the scale heard me. HA going up by .2 each day but still the same base. Blaming the ham and the sodium, last night was the last meal for that though. More water. Nothing new at the gym this week to cause higher gain but we'll see. Still could be the 4 mile hike Saturday but haven't been as sore as when I've done a 5K in the past
Kitten is getting fixed today. Makes me nervous but I know she should be just fine. The dog that is her buddy was worried when I didn't come back with her as well.
The one friend I was worried about burnout, did but she's back to going. I had stopped telling her when I was going but offered that I'd keep at doing so if it'll help. Saw her Monday and if I get the cat home in time I'll see her tonight too. Her son is joining her too which is great.7 -
I did my first kickboxing workout video yesterday morning. It was pretty fun! The moves themselves weren't difficult, but the challenge was following what the trainer was doing, because every move is a combo of steps and punches or kicks. It repeats for 30 seconds, so I have a little bit of time to figure it out, but that also means I don't get the full impact of the workout as I stand still and watch for the first 5-10 seconds to make sure I've got the sequence down. I think it will get easier as the month progresses, as I get more familiar with it. Hopefully it will lead to actual long-term improvement in my general coordination, too, because that's never been great for me.11

It's midweek and I'm on day 3 of constant hunger (thanks TOM ). Despite trying to avoid eating myself out of house and home, my workouts have been pretty great. I am on Week 6 of C25K and strangely enough, 2 10 minute jogs was tougher than the 20 minute jog that I did on Friday. I've been stretching out this program so I do all of the weeks twice so that helps me get ready for the next official week. I have a 22 minute jog scheduled for Friday and I'm both really looking forward to it and absolutely dreading it...which is basically the relationship that I have with jogging. So all good there and now i'm watching the minutes click by so I can order lunch from a local cafe as I'm out of lunch stuff and am out of town this weekend.14

@kali31337 - I understand exactly how you feel. Even now, having with so miles of running under my belt, most days I hate it for the first mile. I'm sore, it's hard, I feel slow. But then the next mile I'm all warmed up, my joints don't hurt anymore and it's just the best thing ever.7

New here. I almost got down to 210 last year but then did a lot of stress eating plus had to take Prednisone for an autoimmune problem.
So back to 245 (!) Have been on a 1500 calorie a day plan for two weeks now. I hope to be in the 230s by the end of the month.11 -

Got my first COVID shot! I had to drive to the next county over because of how my state is handling it, but hey, I got it and that's the important thing. My husband got his on Tuesday and only really started having side-effects today; he had a sore arm yesterday, but this morning he started running a slight fever and was really fatigued, and his clinical site sent him home out of an abundance of caution. I'm hoping my experience is better, at least I'll be home for the next 4 days. We should be fully vaccinated by mid-late May, so we're going to visit my dad since hubs gets a semester break then. I'm so looking forward to it.9

I just joined this group and started back on MFP. I used it in 2016-2018 off and on and lost 40 lbs. Of course I gain it back and the COVID stress eating really helped with that (of course it's not to blame for all of it). I used Noom oner the summer and just cancelled. There were things I liked and things I really couldn't stand. So I'm back on MFP and taking it a week at a time.

@goal06082021 its interesting but the reactions to the COVID vaccine are very age based and very different for each person. I work in Biotech and have developed a couple of COVID testing kits this past year. From what I understand our reactions to the vaccine are due to how our immune system reacts to an infection.
My husband and I just had sore arms (24-36hrs long) for our first shots. I just got my second on Monday which gave me a headache and made me tired.4 -

My darling husband (/s, but in like, a loving way) was craving carbs today so he grabbed some fried-chicken mac-and-cheese from a local place, and graciously saved half of it for me. Thanks babe, that's still like 800 calories, I guess I have snacks for the next couple of days LMAO. He's probably already forgotten about it. I swear leftovers are just invisible to him, sometimes it's a wonder he sees the lunches I prep for him for the week.4 -

This fascinates me. I had the Pfizer vaccine and both times, it was as simple as a sore (frog punched) arm which lasted at least a couple of days. No other reaction. Does that mean my immune system is good or bad I wonder? lol I regularly get colds and have a number of allergies (dogs, cats, horse, dust, grass, feathers) but other than that, I'm fairly healthy so... shrug....2 -

Needless to say, I’m delighted with this week’s loss! Hellooooo Onederland!! (That doesn’t mean I have to leave this group, right?! Y’all are too awesome!) I even let myself have a cheat day on Easter and found that I wanted FRUIT much more than I wanted chocolate (crazy, I know!). I did have one crazy work day this week where I skipped my workout but I made up for it the next day. Sometimes I can’t believe I’ve only been doing this for 2 months - I feel like I’ve transformed into a completely different person!
My challenge for this week will be international travel. 😬 I normally live in Indonesia but I’ve been stuck in the US for the last 10 months due to Covid visa restrictions. I FINALLY got my visa yesterday (hooray!) and am returning home next week. So, I’ll have the first hurdle of a 30+ hour travel to figure out and the second hurdle of a 5 day quarantine in a hotel. I’m thrilled to be going home but I also know that my best case scenario will be to stay steady on the scale for that week. Workouts will also be a bit challenging since I won’t have my weights but I’ve got some body weight videos to try. I’m also working to plan ahead and bring plenty of bars, shake mix, etc so I won’t end up feeling super gross but it will be a challenge for sure! My dream is to hit 26lbs lost (halfway!) before I leave on Wednesday and then maintain for a week before gearing up for Part 2!
I also did some progress photos this week to encourage myself.. can’t wait to see it in 27 more pounds! Also.. does anyone else find that as you make progress toward your goal, you consider dropping your UGW? When I started, 170 seemed almost impossible to reach and now that I’m almost halfway, I’m starting to think.. hmm, I wonder what I would look like at 165 😅 I know that’s a slippery slope though and always wanting to lose “just a little bit more” can send me right back to disordered eating and body image issues (which, no thank you! Been there done that) but it’s still a tempting thought!

I had a good week on the scale, and met all the goals. I was tempted to give up on logging more than once as I have had one ongoing frustration this week. However, I kept going, so I am going to take this opportunity to be pleased about that. I don't expect this rate of loss to continue though! I have a couple of busy weekends coming up as well, with virtual conferences this weekend and next weekend, so I will need to adjust my grocery shopping and meal planning to reflect that. I suppose that it has an advantage over a real conference in that I won't be eating out all day!3 -

The side effects aren’t necessarily about how good or bad your immune system is. It’s just what are the physical manifestations that your body has when your immune system is working hard.
It boggles my mind how we can all be so similar and yet so different.1 -
Last night was a rough one. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting 16:8 (eating from 11-7) but my husband ended up working late. So when he didn’t get home until after 7 we ended up having a super late dinner. I wanted to wait for him to eat, but what I ended up making was just so-so. I also had way more calories left than I realized but it was now 7:30 I was hungry and out of time and still had to bake an experimental sourdough loaf (trying out new flour). I gave myself a break and had an applesauce pouch to bring me up to 1200 calories after doing dishes at 8pm. But that bread came out of the oven at 9pm and it smelled so good (I love fresh bread) but I just got another cup of tea...finished my movie and eventually went to bed. I’m so proud of myself!!! I made it and didn’t binge when my husband went outside to do yard work or to go for a walk!!7

Well, it was an ugly week for me. I have a myriad of reason (ie excuses) for my weight gain - Easter binging (failed first goal of limiting it to one day), busy work week so we had some "convenient" food, supper out with son (that we had planned for a while and just ended up being part of this gross week), TOM, bloating/constipation (due to all of the eating), etc, etc. All excuses, all could've been worked with/around, but I just allowed them to all pile up and gained a good chunk of weight back. I know a lot of it is water weight/bloat so I should see a decent little drop this weekend if I get my act together but I made 0 progress which is a little defeating. Why are we our own worst enemies and saboteurs? Something we have total control over and yet the hardest to control
In better news, I have been on track with my steps goal. I haven't necessarily got 8k on weekdays and 12k on weekends but, averaged out, I have been.
Question - For those of you that do HIIT, how to log it? I've been logging it as aerobics but we do more weights, squats, sit-ups, etc than cardio (gym restrictions in my province are low-intensity activities only). Funny MFP doesn't have it in their database considering how popular it is now.8 -

I do HIIT and I’m not sure if this is the right way or not, but I go to workout routine and I build the routine (inputting what exercise I do, how many reps, how much weight, how many seconds etc for each set). Then I save it and when I repeat the workout (I alternate 2 videos for 2 weeks and then go on to the next set), I can just click and log. It’s a little time consuming the first time and I’m not 100% sure if it’s all the way accurate (since I don’t have any kind of fitness watch to compare with yet) but that’s what I’ve been doing.2 -

Yup rather maintained this week. Felt on par for me since seeing the 225 the prior weeks. Nothing too discouraging for me on that.
Got my results for my wellness screening I had. Some things up so have to change a few things but just means I have to keep at what I'm doing or I'll be heading in the same direction as family members if I don't.
vaccine symptoms have been quite a range. Even just the one type that my husband's pharmacy was doing. He barely had anything besides the sore arm & felt invincible, one pharmacist had a fever and terrible the next day, and I was a mix in between - sore arm, slight fever briefly the first shot. Second had the brain fog but not too terrible. A friend had Phyzer and barely had anything besides the sore arm5 -

I didn't do very well meeting my exercise goals this week. It was a very depressing week on a number of different levels. I was very close to reaching my 10-min x5 days walking goal but I was in just too much pain to complete my 5th day and I just couldn't push myself to get it done (I had done some lower body and lower back strength training the day before and it left me with a very achy left hip and lower back). I should have just done my usual 30 min cardio/strength-building workout cos that doesn't seem to leave me in as much pain. Lesson learned!. I am also out of my inhalers for my COPD so it makes my walking even more challenging.
I'm going to try to dust myself off and successfully meet these goals for this coming week. I refuse to give up on getting physically stronger so that I am in better shape to eventually have my double hip replacement and not have to go through months of rehab. It would be so nice to gain back some hip mobility and strength without having so much pain.8 -

Regarding goal weight - for me it's been a moving target. I originally started out with a goal of 185 because that would be 100 pounds lost, then as I neared it, I thought I would shoot for 175 - the weight I was when I got married. So, I hit 175 last June and declared maintenance. Well, I kept slowly losing, till I stabilized at 165 for about 6 months. After drifting down a few more pounds, I've decided to got back to intentionally eating at a deficit and try for 155/150. I still have these pockets of jiggly fat that I would like to be rid of. I think you'll know you are at your goal weight when you get there, and there is no harm in trying it out and readjusting if it's not where you want to stay.5
