Heather ~ I absolutely loved the old movie and the book, Rebecca! There is a new movie version that I watched on Netflix over the last 6 months and I liked that one a lot also.
Rebecca ~ Your meals are always interesting to see.
Had a mammo for the first time in over two years today. Told the technician that when someone invents a better way than squeezing they will become very rich! When I left, my knee was hurting so bad I had to take an Aleve. Guess that was due to all the walking involved in going into the building and out again to the parking lot.

Vicki- I printed out the transcript from the IRS
And had my 2020 tax return and I went up to Trudys
What we have figured out is that what I paid into the insurance is different now that President signed the affordable healthcare law..so i should get the rest of it once they have that all ironed out.. think Turbo Tax had the correct software but the IRS is so backlogged it will take quite a few months to get the rest, figure there are what probably 10 million that they have to refund insurance too.
Went for consult and now we wait for insurance approval and then i go for a sleep study..3 -
Hi ladies. My life has been nuts lately. We got an 8 week old beagle. She's been on the go constantly and only sleeps about 2 hours in a row. Last night she slept for three, so we were celebrating. My boss is trying to "guilt" me into taking overload. First it was this summer, and now it's next spring. I told her no more overload. I did end up with 1.5 credits of overload, but that's as close as I could get without dropping an entire course. Now she wants me to teach half the critical care course next spring. I said no, although I offered my online presentations and I would do .5 credits, but that is IT.
I am hoping a nice quiet summer will lend itself to a better routine.
Take care, Meg from Omaha8 -

Heather: My husband is a Kindle fan, too. I’ve been using the same MacBook Pro since 2011. Apple would love for me to trade up to a newer one, but I am happy with what I have. If it quits working, I’ll buy another. :ohwell: As to books—I am a hoarder. I have MANY. My thought is that a book that is worth keeping is one that I will enjoy over and over again. Arthur Ransome’s children’s book, Swallows and Amazons, is the beginning of a series that I collected over time. I bought some here in the US and others in Canada. I plan to keep all of them.
Allie: Good luck for a prompt tax rebate.
Meg: Eight week old pups are a joy and also exhausting. Have fun with yours.
I am planning to enjoy the fitness center this year. Covid is in my rear window since DH & I have both taken two Phizer vaccinations. Life as I once knew it may become normal again. I will be very pleased with the possibility of normal.

Pip: Thanks to you and Kirby for working hard to support MS research. Since DH is an MS sufferer we think of you and that ride as very important, for raising awareness as well as raising money for research. Let me know where to send our check to support your efforts to raise money for research.
Katla
(PS: Pip and Kirby have been contributing to this cause by riding their bikes in the MS Ride for many years. We consider both of them as heroes. Contributions go toward MS research.)

Worked today so no formal exercise. I did get in over 10,000 steps, tho. The plan for tomorrow is to do a body pump DVD
Had bowling this afternoon. Came home and made oatmeal raisin cookies for Colby. Now making these chocolate truffle cookies for Jess. It looks like the recipe doesn’t make a whole lot so I may wind up having to make another batch
The weather is supposed to warm up as the week goes on, so it looks like by the end of the week I’ll be in the pool --- yaaaaa!
One thing I realized is that a truly enjoyed being with the customers at Food Lion, helping them with the cart, etc. Now they just have me cleaning and I find that when I go outside get the carts accessible to the customer, I enjoy it so much more. A “good morning” talking to people (they can be so interesting), I miss that. Well, all good things must come to an end.
Lisa – have a great time
Was going to go to ceramics, but they decided to have the mahjongg online so I’ll play.
We can to to ceramics Wednesday (Steve will be here Monday)
katla – I’m surprised that proof of vaccination is required. Isn’t that against HIPPA? Discrimination? Around here you don’t have to wear a mask (it’s your decision if you do) unless you have not been vaccinated, but the onness is on you if you wear a mask or not. Legally, you can’t ask a person if they’ve been vaccinated. Yes, if you don’t show a copy of your card, the restaurant can refuse to serve you. But I don’t know if they’re willing to do that.
There are some stores around here that say that customers and associates who have been vaccinated don’t have to wear a mask. Wish Food Lion was that way. I always used to use my own mask but now I’ll use one of their one-use masks and the second I punch out, off comes the mask and in the garbage.
Vince said that the flea & tick stuff that he ordered should be here tomorrow so that’s why I’m making things for Colby and Jess. You know mom, I’ll send a “care” package.
Just finished baking the cookies for Jess. Yea...it doesn’t look like I’ll have to make more.
Carol GA – you aren’t squeezed as much when you get a 3D mammo, at least I wasn’t

Good evening all:
Got caught up over the weekend and lost a post. Now caught up again.
Ohio restrictions are being lifted June 2-no more health orders. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Still waiting on final decisions for work place. I am assuming county will go along with the complete lift. We will continue with the work from home option we have. Most of the state offices that supervise us are doing that. Many staff take applications over the telephone (state process) so they can really do that from anywhere.
I am in the office nearly everyday and it feels good to have that normalcy.
Heather-I loved Rebecca! It has been many years since I have read it. Every so often the phrase "Last night I dreamed I was at Manderly again" flits through my mind.
Allie-so sorry to hear about your friend. It is a good reminder that even though things are looking better, Covid an its damage hasn't left us. Hope your sleep study is approve quickly.
Pip-you are correct, we never know what is going to happen. Live in this day and enjoy it.
Terri-glad you over that stomach bug. They can be a nuisance in so many ways.
Off to check on a couple of things before winding down for the night.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio2 -
Michelle: We have had a tougher pandemic than some other states and the safety of our communities are a high priority for citizens & businesses. Wearing masks helps people to avoid the virus. The situation is improving. Our recent lunch at a restaurant was the first in a long time. Carrying a photo of our vaccination cards got us a nice seat in a recently opened restaurant. The proof of vaccinations makes us all feel confident that we’re safe from covid and can eat a meal in a restaurant with others.3

Thanks Carol, its interesting to me, how my food tastes have evolved over this year. Its nice to buy healthy items, and actually use them, and eat them up. I used to buy veggies only to leave them in the produce drawer until they became a science experiment. Now I buy and eat it all up!

Good evening,
Okay, so I quit whining and think I made an adult observation about myself today. No, I didn't want to go to work, but so many depend on me. When I got there the first thing SIL says is she has a headache and wouldn't be there if she didn't have certain things that had to be done-SURPRISE! NOT! At first I was pissed. As the morning progressed, I realized I am less stressed when she isn't there. If she is there, I expect her to "help" or do her job taking care of business at work. When she isn't really present to assist and help everyone, then it is much more stressful to me. Since I was solo, it was easy to just say, hey, sorry, I am solo today, so bear with me. I was calm and customers were overall patient. Yes, I have lots to do tonight, but the day was much better. Either help with whatever needs done or get the h^&& out of my way. Just an observation on my part. Not looking for perfection, just best effort.
Lisa- Enjoy! I miss the babies! Mine are too busy these days.
Meg- You have more patience than I do for puppies. They are cute, but my life doesn't allow me enough time to be a good puppy parent. Good job sticking up for yourself!
Better get some work done.
Thank you ladies for being here for me and each other!
Love,
Kylia in wet Ohio (but didn't have to water new plantings tonight)4 -

Although they are wonderful paperbacks, the print is tiny and I know we will never read them again. I've kept school prizes, my old religious books, and books I loved as a child. Plus a couple I think the kids might read. It was lovely to rediscover all the foreign language versions of the children's books I wrote. Max might be amused by the Spanish version of Well I Never! CARAMBA! I will try and read the German versions of the two Herbert books.
I also weeded out some good quality crime and historical thrillers that I've just posted on Freecycle.
I expect they will go quite quickly. We buy the hardbacks as presents to each other.
Then DH rang a clearance company who are coming on Wednesday morning to give an estimate. If they are not too expensive they can take it away immediately. We have about a quarter of a garage full of junk.
Feels so good!

If I were getting rid of books, I would take them to a used book store.
That's where I get my books and it is a delight to find whole series and like-new books for a fraction of the price they would have been originally.

Knees really bothering me the past two days, maybe due change in weather. Had to take the sandy (shorter) path to the beach to avoid the rolling rocks. They feel better after walking, worse after sitting. Broke down and took an ibuprofen yesterday, red wine and aspirin today.

Machka - Nowhere is taking used books these days. You can’t get rid of them anywhere. Because of the pandemic, charity shops gave only just opened again and they say NO BOOKS. People are putting them on their garden wall for people in the street to take, but it's been raining for weeks. I have given thousands of books to charity book stores in the past. We don't have used book stores over here any more.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx0 -
Kylia - That's actually a great stride forward for your peace of mind. Pleased for you.
Up at 3 a.m. The usual middle-of-the-night potty visitation ended up becoming a thing with Egg. Egg (the cat) has made huge strides in actually coming in the house while people are here, but she will only do so in the middle of the night when everyone's asleep. At least I know she's OK, which is helpful. So after my own trip to the human litter box, I went through the kitchen, flicked on the back porch light because I knew she'd be there, and she was. She followed me around trying to trip me until I headed back to bed.
Still following me, she comes up in the bed a few moments after I get in, and my entire bedroom suddenly smelled like what is usually left in her litter box. Seriously, the molecules that infest the inside of a kitty cat's digestive system should not be present in your own bed at 3 a.m.! It was horrifying--the worst kitty fart ever. Brought me straight out of bed to get away from it. I assume her being stressed due to people being here was the reason. Whatever it was, sleeping through it wasn't an option.
So, I'm talking to y'all, absorbing my first cup of coffee, and I can hear my husband snoring gently from our bedroom and our son-in-law snoring gently from the living room. They can both sleep through anything. My daughter is probably awake listening to my tippity-tap on the keys, as I'm just the next room over, and only an archway in between--no door. We had the discussion about them sleeping in the camper, and she chose not to... ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
I would have had to be up at 4 a.m. to make my husband's lunch and coffee anyway, so no big deal for me. I'll wait until 4 before I start banging around in the kitchen. I've learned not to try to be quiet, because that's when I drop things!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

As I have already said, I had an upset tummy last week which finally erupted on Friday afternoon. Took it easy over the weekend and feeling fine now.
This morning my scale recorded 139.8, which means that I have just dropped below my UGW. It’s only temporary, of course, but gratifying nonetheless.

Northern Ireland hasn't fared too badly, Nonetheless, I thoroughly agree with safety being paramount. I am aghast at how many people are rushing to return to a 'normal' which allowed this virus to sweep the world, and has so far led to over 128,000 deaths in U.K., over 600,000 deaths in USA, and over 3,300,000 deaths worldwide.
Complacency is our enemy!!! Staying safe and protecting others by wearing a mask, and getting vaccinated is the very least we can do to limit the spread of this plague. It's a minor inconvenience when compared to the anguish of those who have suffered and died, and the grief of their families.

Barbara - Before we moved here we sent 22 large boxes of books to the Oxfam bookstore. After moving here we sent 6 large boxes to the Amnesty bookstore. When we were first married, and there were still such things as used book shops, DH sold around 10 boxes. We still have 5 tall bookcases of books. The ones in the garage for dumping were a lot of philosophy text books and old paperback novels. Great books, but unreadable to our old eyes. No one wants them any more. Amazon has done for bookshops, with even big chains just hanging on.
I was very attached to the idea of the books, because they held memories, but I felt only relief when they were gone. Most I had not even unpacked from the move and they were annoying DH by taking up space in his study. We are now hoping that the clearance people will be reasonably priced for our junk. DH does not feel up to numerous visits to the council dump with heavy stuff any more.
DH had a bad night. I was woken by his cries at 4.30 am, he was in a sweating, naked heap on the bed, having a panic attack and feeling sick. My usual trick with the wet flannel on his forehead worked and he eventually calmed down. Amazingly, I went back to sleep! My guess is that he is getting worked up about the cricket. He had to fill in a long form last night for covid precautions and it states he will have to wear a mask. Of course,he was worrying about his glasses fogging up etc. Also it is a long journey there every day for 4 days, getting back late in the evening. It will be fine, but I'm sure the worry was building up. I don't think he is the only person having re-entry anxieties after 14 months lockdown. I have not been in a car for 15 months.
He has not driven that far for a long time. Just trips to charge the battery.
Oh well. We are meeting the kids after school today, with Maddie, the girl who picks them up 3 days a week and gives them tea. I hope to say a few words of German to her. It will certainly cheer DH up to see them.

My husband was diagnosed with Non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/heart-attack/diagnosis/
"An NSTEMI can be less serious than an STEMI because the supply of blood to the heart may be only partially, rather than completely, blocked. As a result, a smaller section of the heart may be damaged. However, an NSTEMI is still regarded as a serious medical emergency. Without treatment, it can progress to serious heart damage or STEMI."
A couple other articles:
https://www.healthline.com/health/nstemi
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321059
NSTEMI risk factors
You’re much more likely to experience acute coronary syndrome such as NSTEMI if you have the following risk factors:
You smoke.
You’re physical inactivity.
You have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
You have diabetes.
You’re overweight or obese.
Your family has a history of heart disease or stroke.
My husband hasn't smoked in a couple decades, he is active, he has slightly elevated blood pressure and cholesterol, no diabetes, slightly overweight but not obese. So perhaps there's a family history.
We had the first of several follow-up appointments today.
