13 Days AF for me now. Not to bad considering we had a family vacation in there.
My wife and I are planning to drink on Friday as it is Swedish Midsummer, which is a very big holiday here, probably equivalent to Thanks Giving in the US. It will be a quite one but you need an Aquavit or two to digest all that pickled herring.
I watched the Sweden match last night with my 13 year old daughter and she said how nice it was without any smelly beer. It felt nice but kind of bittersweet too.10 -
A quick check in. 👍

I need to post this saying in my office and maybe above the bathroom scale. Thanks folks for setting a positive tone to this week!
AF today with a bit of candy here and there ......6 -
Still on vacation … first girls trip with my mom & sis. 1 margarita at Rolando’s in Hot Springs plus 2 glasses wine in the evening while playing skipbo cards & spinner dominos as well as going outside to watch the sun set. Last evening before we head home.4

Good Morning! Today is Day 20 AF for me. I had a good run with my scale losing some gained water weight, but it has been stubborn the last few days so that makes me start having those thoughts like I might as well be drinking AND my weekend started yesterday so there's that. I will soldier on!!!
Have a great weekend!8 -

AF yesterday at home. We enjoy the sense of calmness and well-being.
We're eating 2 meals a day and trying for no snacking. So far it's working to cut the appetite.I started a routine of squirting lemon into my water and making sure I get in 2 large glasses in the morning hours before I eat my early lunch. It's supposed to have some beneficial alkalinizing effect. Anyways, let's see if it does something magical to help me de-puff.
Woke up today and my skin was more luminous, not sure if it was the lemon but I like it.
I am in search of a secret for aging hair (why is it getting a crinkly texture???)...if anyone has a tip, please share3 -
Hi : - )
My goal is 16-20 AF days per month.
Diary Style.
Monday June 21 - Drinks. I had a quarter of the second can of Gin Smash to start, didn't like it as much as the other variety, it was a bit too sweet, couldn't taste the Gin enough. Planned drinks for Friday.
Tuesday June 22 - AF - Felt a bit fuzzy this morning after having a few drinks last night.
Wednesday June 23 - AF - I feel like having a couple of drinks, but am going to resist. An unexpected extra shift at the restaurant tonight, make hay while the sun shines and all of that. Happy to hit my 16AF : - )
Thursday June 24 - 2 drinks. Didn't make it to Friday, but all good.

@globalhiker
Yes, our hair certainly gets more coarse! Argan Oil?
I saw Busy Philips talking on TV, she was in New York where it was 80 degrees and she felt like she couldn't even walk across the street - the humidity was too much for her. She is from Arizona originally where the 100+ heat never bothered her.
I thought of you right away as you are starting to think about moving somewhere else perhaps with more moisture in the air. I am sure that you will research and go and spend 2 weeks in the height of summer and 2 weeks in the coldest of the winter before making your choice of locations.
We are 100-107 here for the next week. My peppers and tomatoes will love it as long as I can keep them hydrated.4 -
@MissMay I love your attitude - 23 days AF is better than 17!!!
I am 13 consecutive days AF and feeling great. Visiting family (and attending a celebration of life for my brother) for a week and it is always harder to cut down alcohol use around my family. I am determined to make my own choices about being AF and stick to my goals. So far, the first day went great!7 -
Hello all the AF wonderfuls
AF last night but slept pretty poorly. The congestion is back in my sinus, well it never actually left. Have any of you used Sudafed 12 hour cap? Since it was recommend I use them I have noticed that if I take 1 every 12 hours my eyelids, inside of my ear and nose are so dry and raw that I actually bleed. I cut back to 1 a day and that has lessoned the symptoms. Any suggestions? Different med?
@globalhiker I have fine, thin aging hair. Yet it can get very dry and brittle, just what I don't need. I have been using a recipe from a website called humblebeeandme. She has a recipe for Aragon Dry Mist for hair. My hair does not take to oil well so I had to double the cyclomethicone (inexpensive form Amazon) with the aragon oil. I have it in a little mist bottle, but I prefer to put a pump in the palm of my hand and rub together then through my damp hair. My problem was solved.

Home Sweet Home!!!
Wrapped up the Girls Trip with my mom & sis. This morning we started the day at the Arlington Bath House (The Works - whirlpool, sauna, massage) ... then a very long drive home. But we stopped in Jefferson TX to sample the famous cornbread sandwiches at Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich & Pie Bar.
DH & I are AF this evening!
Cornbread Sandwich (Turkey, Ham, Cheese, Purple Onion, Tomato, Mayo, Mustard on Jalapeño Cornbread ... also could have selected the Broccoli Cornbread or Plain Cornbread).

@MissMay - Another "Bitters" photo for you from Hot Springs.
I bought the Crude Tiki 500 - "Toasted, savory coconut blended with charred pineapple. Notes of brown sugar and a spicy darkness of allspice."

Thursday June 24 - 2 drinks. Didn't make it to Friday, but all good.
Friday June 25 - Drinks. Took the 3/4 of a can of the Gin Smash over to my friend's place when we were both finished work and split it with her. So 3/4 / 2 = ??? 3/8ths? Then had 2 drinks when I got home, so 2 3/8ths drinks.
Rolling Total - 16AF days out of 25 days.6 -
I phoned my friend to say "put some small-ish Martini glasses in the freezer, I will be there in 5 minutes.
I had completely forgotten that I had gifted her with these retro-ish glasses.
Completely fun!
They would work just as well with a Mocktail.
I drove there, but was fine and didn't need to walk home after 3/8ths of a drink.
We hadn't had a drink together in a month. I have been so busy I am not sure if I have even seen her in a month! Of course we text and message.
She had an additional 2 glasses of white wine while I was there. I would say that she is a daily drinker, whereas I no longer am. Doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a drink, anymore than it means that I don't enjoy some food indulgence once in awhile too, just cutting back on things.
We are planning Mojitos at my place later on next week.

Honest truth, I had my head in Google maps earlier this week looking at Arkansas and also Tennessee but for a vacation. @Lilylady3k the area you showed looks quite peaceful and serene, lovely and thanks for sharing.
@lmlmrn I can't do any cold medications (I'm the type that gets ALL the side effects). Very hypersensitive. But I do get stuffy from some foods and beverages (dairy especially cheese is one). I suppose you tried eliminating some foods to see if any were culprits? Mold and dust and chemicals will do it to me too. Have you explored your home environment to see if an allergen is causing it ? (ie:I had to replace ALL cleaning products including hand soap with fragrance-free product/no air fresheners or scented candles/removed all carpets from house/change out air filters often/kill mold in the toilet tank with white vinegar,etc)...
This past week went much better, lower stress at work since I spoke up and set boundaries and limits people have stopped throwing projects at me left and right. Learning self management and living within "my healthy stress zone" has everything to do with success at alcohol moderation.
Happy AF weekend5
