Good morning!
The horrible weather finally broke last night and I was able to take a 30 minute walk (3km) this morning.
The public pools are now open and I will be swimming for one hour a night and with the easing of Covid restrictions all the aquatic class might restart at the end of June.
Enjoy your day.

Hi newbies, I'm Penny.
I'm 66 and I've been bit heavier than I would like pretty much all my life.
My husband and I have been married for nearly 43 years. We have two children and two grandchildren, none of whom we have seen in person since March 2020.
For the past 10 years we've lived in Svalbard, farther north than about 99.99% of humanity. I love it here, but in three weeks we're moving waaaay south, to Tromsø, Norway, which will put us at about the same latitude as northernmost Alaska.
I'm sad, but shouldn't be, because even if we're moving from one of the most wonderful places in the world:
we're also moving to one of the most wonderful places in the world:
I cook nearly all our food from scratch. We aim for a vegetarian day or two every week, and we eat more fish and poultry than meat. I've stopped restricting my calorie intake and focus instead on increasing the number of calories I burn. In December I started aiming to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, and I've succeeded every single day since 1 February. Granted, some of those steps are from jogging rather than walking, but still. Here's the result. Forgive the mix of Swedish and English. I won't apologize for using the metric system, though.
Hang in there! It IS possible to lose weight after 60!

Good Tuesday! I have been reading along. Hugs to all especially those dealing with losses, illnesses, or family issues. ((HUGS))
I think I hit a breaking point this past Saturday. All I could do was cry and be quiet. While I maintained within 3 pounds of my goal for 6 months, I have blown that away in the past 6. I put on 4 dresses that were just too form fitting. Finally found on that fit. At that point got on the scale.....I have gained back 10 pounds. 😢 I know why...I quit logging, moving, and hydrating. I forgot to put me first. My house was in a chaotic state. My work all consuming. I didnt even get May checks in the bank until June 1. I have a physical the end of July. I know what to do just have to implement it. So.....I am showering at night before bed. Was taking one with DH in morning, but his timing wasnt working for me. This is one less thing for morning time. I am packing lunches in the pm. Easier to log and I know I have something healthy so that I am not living on chocolates. I need to add exercise, but did get my 10k steps in yesterday. I switched my water container back to one with a straw. Apparently, I drink more with a straw. I have started decluttering home. Now down to just one area which I am working on when I get out of hot tub. I "feel" better and KNOW I have all of you for support. I love the sharing, caring, and support of you all.
Family drama, maybe, could just be my sister being my sister. My nephew is getting married in July in CA. I feel badly that no one from my sister's side of the family is attending, but the cost for most of the family is prohibitive. For my brother, it is health of grand babies reasons. For me it is mask wearing. I cannot wear one for more than about 5 minutes without panicking and high anxiety. Therefore no planes. It is at least a 3 day drive one way. I say at least as I am the solo driver. My sister hasn't called me back since I told her this. It is typical for her though. We play phone tag often. I was looking forward to the wedding thinking east coast, forgot bride's family is west coast. 😪
Thank you for listening. ❤
Better get a few things done before work. I will bio later.
❤🦋
Kylia in muggy Ohio
hugs to you. I'm sorry about the wedding. will it be live streamed (many were during lockdowns) ? a colleague "went" to his son's wedding during extreme lockdown on video. He and his wife ordered or planned a fancy meal with champagne and he said it was very good.
the cost of traveling for weddings is not doable for everyone. (plane/car rental/hotel/ (since all the many friends and family members can't all stay at the home...) eating out maybe, etc etc. And I relate about mask wearing. Last summer I rented a car 2 weeks cause I couldn't bear wearing a mask for trains. now I'm getting more used to it. I tend to sort of slip it off nose when not near others...also in train we can eat and drink and thus don't have to wear a mask then (same for plane! you could take plane and constantly drink water !!! if all the rest were not an issue!) sorry about weight gain. I have not been tracking either and weight went up a bit in 1st lockdown and seems to be stablized--- all about 10lbs more than I was for about 2 decades effortlessly. I intend to track more and make more effort, but just existing and staying motivated and ok seems like a lot and the weight seems less important, except when I look at my unfamiliar love handles and belly in mirror... physically I feel ok (maybe a bit less light) but I'm not keen on how the middle looks when it's not hidden by shirt and so on...2 -
oh weird, this is bananas, not sure why I'm signed in as Juliebee now. I tried that once when I couldn't get online as bananas. (this is bananas !) bad pun intended.5

Loved going to café today, inside. weather good. did taxes yesterday. Way behind in some things but not so stressed about it. Enjoying the weather and being able to go out.
it's indulgent but I booked another night away at the seaside.
Sunday night (less people about on Monday!). about 69 euros train trip and 65 euros cute little hotel near the sea. I arrive at 11:30 on Sunday and leave at 8pm on Monday. Not really in my budget right now, but the past year has been such a pain with so few get aways that I'm doing it anyway. Like who would have imagined that we would be so limited for so long. Here in France we have had curfew and indoor restaurants closed for 7 months!!! as of today we can go out until 11pm or 11:30pm which is generally largely good enough for me.
I missed cafés a lot. even outdoors cafés was closed for 6 months ! (from November till May 19th!) there was only take away, or slightly illegal lingeriing around the take out place.3 -

Morning again,I have 2 snoozing dogs next to me....one is snoring lol..
I am spending almost 1000.00 to go to my 2nd cousins wedding in Oct. Yes that is with a cheap flight using points and cash, hotel and rental car.. im going to Brentwood ,Tn and in Tn the entertainment and hospitality tax is over 14% so that really packs a punch.. i got a place that has a small kitchen ,but most of the time I will be at my cousins house and will fix a meal or 2 for the family and extended family.. its a huge group my cousin had 6 children and second to the last is the one getting married... the older 2 kids have a passel of kids and I have a feeling like last time i will be roped into helping out with them especially on rehearsal night..
Will see how it all goes.. but we always have a blast ..

My morning dog walking friend leaves today for a five day visit to her sister in California. The dogs and I will miss her but we'll walk as usual. The rain seems to come just as I'm ready to work outside so I haven't done as much as I wanted.
When I was walking in the afternoon I encountered a woman from my line dance class. She lamented the increased cost of the line dance class and said she didn't know if she'd be able to afford to come all the time. I was disturbed until I realized that her attendance was erratic before and she has recently bought a new car, had her yard professionally landscaped, and recently returned from a two week trip out of state. Her priorities are clearly different from mine.

Hi all. I've had a fairly productive morning, and the family shopping is done and dusted. Just popping on to say hello and read a few of the posts, and then I'm going out into the garden.
Carol: ~ I had to stop eating pizza because it's so indigestible for me.
Heather: ~ I went onto low alcohol wine for the same reason. You get the same taste but far fewer calories. Your school run duty sounds hectic! Even if it was only one day! Thank goodness ours are well past that stage.
Kylia: ~ bravo for starting over. As for the wedding, you have to do what feels right for you. It's a pity your sister doesn't understand, but I'm sure she'll get over it.juliebeeeee wrote: »terri I don't know if I'm really feeling SOOOO positive, but I'm doing ok. spring and seeing people and going to the seaside etc, and being able to go inside a café for the 1st time in 7 months all help.juliebeeeee wrote: »oh weird, this is bananas, not sure why I'm signed in as Juliebee now. We left Wed. to go to Denise’s. On the way there she told us “just a heads up, I don’t have anything prepared for dinner” so I just told her “that’s OK, we’ll figure something out”. Vince and I went to Subway, I had a turkey sub and just water to drink.
We told Denise that she didn’t need to take PJ to daycare on Thurs or Fri, that we’d watch him, which is what happened. I made a dinner of Shake & Bake chicken with noodles she had and some corn she had. Then on Fri I made ravioli she had (I also bought more just to be sure I had enough), garlic bread she had, bought lettuce, tomatoes, cukes for a salad. She only has 4 chairs for her table and PJ got on one of the chairs so I stood up. Pete told me to sit down, but I just told him “that’s OK, I’m used to eating standing up”. Then he told me to sit next to my daughter. She got up and walked away. Later that night he told Denise to sit in the living room and talk to us. She went upstairs
We told them to go out to a nice dinner on Sat. and we’d watch PJ. It was in the 90’s and they were going to go to Maria’s to go swimming at the pool in her development. Pete did ask us to go but we declined since we didn’t even have our bathing suits with us. So he, Denise and PJ went there. We had no idea what time they were going to be home or what. We did go to a ceramic place and I got a large crocodile (like I need more bisque), Vince got these cats. Well, they did come home then went to dinner and to Maria’s while we watched PJ. I got him ready for bed.
Sunday comes, we had no idea what their plans for dinner were. Denise made a pizza and she and Pete took it upstairs to eat. It took us a while to realize that we were on our own for dinner. So Vince went to Subway. In the meantime Pete was hanging some towels on his car to dry and he went out to get them. How he didn’t see Vince’s car gone, I really don’t understand. For some reason he locked the door. Why? That I don’t know. He knew he was going to work later that day and the door would have to be opened. Well, Vince couldn’t get in the house so he called Denise. Pete asked me to let Vince in. Then their dog peed on the kitchen floor. Pete said it was because the dog drank so much water while PJ was in the pool. When I called to Denise I got a “what” as if I was bothering her. I had to ask her to come to the top of the stairs since I didn’t want to shout. I asked her if she had any more paper towels since Rex (the dog) peed all over the floor. He’s about 85 pounds so you know it wasn’t a small tinkle. Guess who cleaned up most of it? I did find some napkins Denise had so I used those.
Guess who fed PJ most of the time? Well, every breakfast, most lunches and dinners.
Then Sun night we realized that we didn’t even get the chance to kiss PJ goodnight. You have no idea how much that hurt. I’m good enough to cook (without a “thank you”), good enough to feed and clothe PJ, but I’m not good enough to kiss him good night?????
Vince told her how hurt we were, he was ready to leave Sun after the dinner episode but we didn’t. He talked to Pete and Pete appears to be upset with Denise’s lack of communication, too. He also told Denise. Her response? "I'm sorry, I'm not the hostess with the mostess". To me, that doesn't excuse her behavior
Monday she left for work. I said “thank you for everything (really, nothing)”, didn’t get a response. At least Pete said “come up any time, you can stay here”.
Denise is super-stressed. I understand that, working full time and taking care of PJ, which is why I wanted to try to take some of the stress off her by watching PJ. She didn’t seem as stressed Sat. (I wonder if it’s because she didn’t have to take care of PJ constantly) but then seemed stressed Sunday (I wonder if it’s because Pete leaves for work for 12 days)
I was really crying on the way home and really pigged out. Back on track today.
You know, all the time we were there, not once did Denise or Pete take Rex for a walk. Admitted, I won’t because he really pulls. But we were there to watch PJ. In one sense, I hope Rex continues to pee on the floor. Maybe if he does, they will get rid of the dog (he deserves so much more) and that stress will be taken off Denise. Oh, guess who took him out most of the time? Guess who fed the cat?
So I’m glad to be back in NC. Worked yesterday and honestly, I was told that I was cleaning the front end because no one else wanted to do it. When I asked what else I could do, the gal didn’t know so I actually had to suggest something. I know they’re looking for work in the produce dept. so I’ll explain the situation to the produce manager and see if I can help him some. I really have no desire to leave. To be honest, I like the fact that my hours are short and I could live with more money and what I’m getting is helping with my landscaping and other things.
Oh, at PJ's birthday party (which we didn't know about and weren't invited to) the people at where Denise works got together and bought him this car he can ride in. There is a remote so she can steer and a bluetooth radio, LED headlights. We told her before we went up that we had something he might like going for a walk with. Denise said "I hope it's not a bubble mower because he has one". Well, it was, but this one had those three words every parent loves to hear about toys "no batteries required". The one she got, yes it plays music, but it also takes 3AAA batteries. We did also give him a book where I read the pages and recorded my voice.
We'll probably go back up in Sept. and I'm thinking we'll get him a slide. I've found ones that fold up and can be used indoors/outdoors. Admitted, their place isn't exactly spacious but they can fold this up and put it against a wall or they can keep it in the garage. Any suggestions? What are some features to look for especially? Any brands that are especially good?
Katla – so glad your daughter is there!

I walked 16 minutes and did a little yoga too. I'm getting fewer aches with walking, so that's going well. Yay!4

Our daughter arrived in PDX late last night. A longtime friend picked her up at the airport and took her to his home. They will be here at our house later this morning. We may be serving lunch. Our daughter is an omnivore like us. I don’t know whether Zack is an omnivore or on a special diet. We’ll figure it out when they get here. I am sooo excited to see our daughter. ❤️😘❤️

Michele-It almost sounds like Denise has a bit of depression.
Hi All-Just popping in to say hello. I'm struggling to stay on track with my CICO right now. I don't know why. I am just not motivated and the weight is creeping up ever so slowly. My clothes are not comfortable right now. I refuse to buy new ones.
I'm having guests this weekend, so I'll be busy cleaning the house today and tomorrow. My least favorite task, but it keeps me from snacking.
Have a great week!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday!! Got some housework done and had a doctor's appt. It was actually a follow up. Had to have a nuclear stress/echo a few weeks ago. Seems my acid reflux got the better of me this time and I over did the gardening prior to that. Had chest pains last week of May and am now on two protonix for the acid reflux and my heart is just fine. If it isn't one thing it is another.3

Michele - (((HUGS))) It must be very baffling as to why Denise is acting like this.
After long discussions and changes of plans AT LAST my son has booked tickets for the 20/20 cricket match between Hampshire and Sussex on Saturday night! :drinker: DH and Max are going with him. DH supports Hampshire. He may have to keep quiet!
I am looking forward to a quiet night in. Bliss!
Glorious weather here. We got our geraniums planted in the tub. Looking cheerful through the window.
Much love to all who are stressed and tired

Michele- I am so sorry that your visit was so bad- sounds like more of maid/nanny service without pay or appreciation.
Did good on tracking the past two days. Getting back on intermittent fasting has been a struggle but doing it. Trying to stay busy so I don't think about it.
Worked in the garden a bit yesterday morning- had to replace the netting over my raised bed that has my cucumbers and catnip- to keep the cats out and the critter who ate my cucumber plants two years ago(ate the stem off right at ground level when the plants were full grown and producing- I was so mad- lost half my plants)
The feral cats LOVE the catnip and try and sneak in and roll all over it. The catnip is what I planted last year- first time- didn't know it would come back/keep growing a second year- harvested a big bunch to put in my new herb dryer racks(the thing is HUGE- 8' tall and 3' across!!! I need to make a bunch of new cat toys for my cats and to share.
My friend texted- she wanted to go walk- YEAH- walked for almost 90 min. Felt great. Wish we could go more often. I need to get back walking by myself.
Sticking to my 1200 cal the past two days since I started tracking again.
I am off tomorrow- trying to figure out what husband and I can do- told him I wanted to do something different, besides shopping(the man LOVES to shop). I told him I would like to go to the park and walk for a little bit- he wants to go.......yep- shopping. He had mentioned going out to lunch at the coast but too far to drive after him working all night. One day, when he is not working all night and I am off, then we will go to the coast.
Heading out to finish dead heading my roses- got most of them done- just a few that are really hard to get to and are the thorniest ones are left. Going to finish my coffee first(already had two cups of tea and have tomato juice set out next- trying to drink more low cal drinks to fill me up so I eat less.
Have a great Wed. everyone
Debbie
Napa Valley, CA
edit-
got the roses done and then picked my first small batch of raspberries- the plants have really spread so hoping the produce enough to make a small batch of jam plus enough to eat fresh. LOVE going out in the front yard in the morning and eating my breakfast/snack right there(later in the season I will enjoy cucumbers and tomatoes in the back yard)

Michelle- IMHO ,I think that was very rude of Denise to act that way and Pete only a little bit better.. I have been in your shoes with my older granddaughters Toms step daughter ,had 2 kids and we loved them dearly we would go pick them up,she would send clothes that were to small so that we would go out and buy more ,I would make dinners and deliver them to them and they were an hour away..Jillian left them with there dad and she went off galvanting.. we dont really communicate with her anymore, and the girls are 19 and 21 and live down in florida now, after they moved from Connecticut. Because they used and abused everyone here, she called and said we are moving to Wisconsin tomorrow, so we drove up and kept the girls overnight so they could pack.. we went out quite a few times to visit, thats a heck of a long drive lol.
At least my kids behave properly ,and I raised them right..I would be appalled if they were as rude as some of the disrespectful teens now adays. They think they are entitled and want everything handed to them..Ugh sorry for the rant.. ill go crawl back under my rock lol5 -
Michele: I have sympathy. I love my daughter and she loves me, but there are sometimes communication goof ups. I can visualize her on the the other end of the telephone call, rolling her eyes and sighing. I don't give her any eye rolls but maybe I should try it. Sighing, too. :grumble: :ohwell:1

It occurred to me that perhaps Denise feels inadequate when it comes to knowing what to do about dinners and plans, etc. She may feel like she cannot come up to your standards about entertaining so she doesn't try. I am so happy you got to see PJ during most of your visit and hope you will have happy memories of him. Hope you took some pics to keep.

Katla--So happy to hear your daughter has landed and that your visit is going as planned. I can feel your excitment and so happy for you.
Anyone remember when Michele is to be back? I pray her visit is going well and she gets lots of grandma time with PJ. Just saw Michele's post. Sounds like an interesting visit, but glad you did get time with PJ. Pictures??
Not a lot going on around here today. I am working 6a-6p shift so plan to go home after work and get to bed early. I work 7a-5p the next 2 days and looking forward to the weekend.

Anne DE - You go girl!
Tina CA – depression in Denise wouldn’t surprise me one tiny bit. She does have a lot on her plate with work and PJ and then when Pete is away having to do it all herself. She just doesn’t know how to or maybe wants to take advantage of help. Perhaps she feels like she should do it all so she doesn’t want to ask for help.
Oh, I forgot to mention, Pete thanked us one time when we emptied the dishwasher. I don’t know if he even realized that I ran it another time. I do know that if I overeat, it’s almost as if she’s “won”.
Carol GA – maybe Denise does feel somewhat inadequate, but that still doesn’t excuse common courtesy. She doesn’t have to plan, but at least say “thank you” when I make the dinner.
Ceramics tonight. Not sure, but I may finish one of the dwarfs and just have the last one to do and then Snow White. Maybe..just maybe..I can start to get some of the bisque out of the back bedroom. Someday......
