UpDate: Ends up we will not have the grands on Friday as DnL's night out got canceled. I may have to take the grand girl to meet and greet next Friday. It will be the first time she has been in school without her brother since she was in PreK. Her brother will be at their mom's school. The other grandma who lives very near will be on a mission trip to Tanzania so will not be available.
Flea ~ You will look lovely with your new look.
Michele ~ I had to look up towel topper as I had no idea what they were. We use so many dish towels that we would need a dozen.

20-When things go wrong, pause and be kind to yourself. And “do unto others” too!
The very happiest of bithdays to you Katla!!! Hooray for Yoga! Doesn’t it feel good to be getting back to our pre-pandemic activities? Sorry your DH was grumpy, Joe was too on Thursday, but bounced back yesterday with smiles and dimples when T arrived.
Carol, what Katla said about Instacart, and as ?Debbie? suggested Is it possible to specify “no substitutions” when ordering? “. . . other grandma who lives very near will be on a mission trip to Tanzania . . .” Wow. At 71 it is contemplating those inevitable changes that are my only major worries/fears. Have to shake myself back into the now, and tell my soul to trust.
Congratulations Heather for persisting with your memoir. Hard choices between marketing and privacy protection. Brava for the FB tippytoe!
Thanks again Kiz. How often do you test? Have to talk myself into $pending $ to make myself bleed…
Rita so glad to see you sharing your beautiful photos again. Brava on the self help. Have you read the book “Boundaries” by Drs Cloud and Townsend? Some surprising (to me) Biblical support for setting healthy boundaries, and letting consequences follow without anger or judgement.
Flea your pic, your smile, your spirit! Prayers unceasing.
Debbie, wow for the planting and waterline work, the “hello Dad” story. True that.
Sue glad your surgery went well. “My dog is confused because we are not following the usual routine.” Shadow can tell from which pair of shoes I put on whether or not she’s going to go with me. If I put on a pair of shoes she hasn’t seen before, she barks at me as if I were a stranger, until she hears my voice.
Pip your surprise strawberry daiquiri reminds me of the battery operated margarita maker we used to take camping… I’ll have to dig it out and see if the batteries can still recharge…
Michele so glad you’re able to connect with the gals via online mahjongg and don’t have to drive at night.
Kim how bittersweet, happy for Dylan and his girlfriend, glad you had that time with him, a little sad at the changing of the “seasons.”
Rebecca the Athena Rose pics, best is the one with Grammie
Julie thoughtful social media advice.
Machka and Julie I’m 4’11” and have just been bouncing up and down the same 5 lbs forever. Alas at 140-145 its 25 lbs above my target range :sick: but thankful its 20 lbs below my lifetime high. ;}
Lovely day with T climbing into possible vehicles. Nothing was quite right, the 4runner surprisingly least satisfactory of all. Older model GMC Yukon and Chevy Tahoe are possibilities. still need to try the 2013 GMC Terrain. Good thing there is no immediate need for a different vehicle, just a notion…

Did you know that you make 80% of the cholesterol in your body?
That is why low carb, higher fat most the time lowers cholesterol. If you eat healthy fats your body just makes less.
Here's a clip from Harvard
Fats and Cholesterol
When it comes to dietary fat, what matters most is the type of fat you eat. Contrary to past dietary advice promoting low-fat diets, newer research shows that healthy fats are necessary and beneficial for health.
This is a big part of Keto and LCHF ( low carb high fat). That is my new way of eating. I love this woe. ( not a diet!)

They also have stationary bikes that don’t have active screens but face windows into the outdoor pool. I have a terra-tryke in the garage that i can ride any time. It is on front wheel blocks and a rear wheel roller.
Kylia – Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Karen in VA – I love the dancing birthday cartoon.
Carol in VA – Taking your granddaughter to “meet and greet” at her new school may turn out very well for both of you. One-on-one time with Grandma may be a treat for both of you. :flowerforyou:
Barbara – Thank you for the happy birthday message.
Today is my birthday, and I am 71. I am healthy and happy. I feel blessed with good health, a great husband, wonderful adult children, healthy grandchildren, and many friends, including my MPF friends.

Hi Gals,
Welcome to the newbies, and cheers to all of the regulars…
Rebecca – Athena pictures are delightful.
Heather – I have no idea if this is available in your area but here there are folks that build and maintain social media accounts for small businesses and artists (all media). I also am not sure how much that service costs. But it might be something to look into.
Happy Birthday to Katla and a bunch of others I missed.

Appreciate your nice comments Barbie.💖. I was so worried she'd be really stand offish, and shy. But I think they pick up on cues from us. I was saying pretty much daily, "I am your daddy's *point or hug son* momma"! My son seemed to give me really tight hugs, the kind you just take a long sigh with. He leads a busy life. My daughter in law is as sweet as can be, but I have to really try hard to interact. She won't come to me to say hi, I have to go to her. When she comes home from work, she got on her phone, and sat down. My son asked her what she wanted on her plate. She was served. In essence they have changed roles. I noticed Athena reaching for daddy more than mommy. So it goes to figure that she would soften up to my husband a bit more easily, than me. But by the end there, we were interacting, and that was my main desire. My daughter in-laws mom said it took awhile for Athena to get used to them. Athena took our hands and we went for a walk to a nearby park, that first evening. I know its not a contest between us and the other set of grandparents, but we so won, and my heart is happy. 😁💖
Hugs my friends!
I got stickers, and washi tape, down south too.

Thank you Carol, it was a long time coming huh! Next month I am planning on taking a train down to my sisters, then get a ride from middle to sons apartment to stay 4 days, then probably bus it home.😁💖

Kim Oh, how I wish I could pay someone to do it all for me! I've started a very basic website, I've posted on Facebook to my very, very few 'Friends', and I've just, today, started an ordinary Instagram account. Nothing on it yet! I have no idea how to work it! But,at least I have done something. I have an Amazon Author Page. Every time I contemplate doing something more professional, I balk at it. I must, as Julie said, have another look at my disused LinkedIn account.
I know my DDIL employed professional help with all her social profiles. And she had professional photos taken. At the moment I am taking baby, tiny steps, which are, even so, a stretch for me. But I am deliriously happy to be even trying after years of lying fallow.
As you so well said - a new chapter. I don't believe age has anything to do with it. I am on the path to living my best life and I want to help others to do so too. My word for this year is FRUITFUL and my motto is always, DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD. If not now, when?
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Kim ~ I admire your attitude about changing chapters in life. I am at the age (almost 73) when I think about what will inevitably change in my life in the next years.
Rebecca ~ Love the Athena pictures and so glad you had bonding time with that lovely little girl.
My grandson and granddaughter are coming Friday to spend the night. They are 11 and almost 10 and have only spent the night a couple of times when necessary. This time will be so Mom can have a night out with friends before her school starts again on Monday and Dad will be working. Kind of worried about how to keep them from being totally bored with us old people. They are getting their first phones this week so that might help.
Carol in GA
I would make a big batch of messy cookies with them. If its chocolate chip, you could get trail mix, or special flavored chips to add. They could each mix their own, spoon it out and then eat them with a big glass of milk and a fun movie. Don't let them be on their phones.👍😁💖

Katla in NW Oregon
You know Katla, even when she was a wee bit sad, she was stunning! The one time at the restaurant when she stuck out her bottom lip, her eyes watering, and one lone tear, it about made my heart burst....💖💖💖💖. Then my son looked at her and she smiled broad, and son caught the tear on his finger. Those two have a bond like no other. Sometimes it looks as though my son pours more love into Athena than wife, but kids are less judgmental you know? It will be interesting to see who their marriage evolves.

Rebecca - It’s great to hear that you have had such a good time with Athena and family.
Katla - it’s annoying when wool isn’t as good as you think it’s going to be. It just makes things so much more difficult.
Happy birthday to you and Karen
Flea and Julie- my heart goes out to you daily. Dealing with your health/cancer issues must be a trial. (((Hugs))) to you both.
The last for five days I’ve been much busier than I expected. We’ve been doing a lot of work in the garden and keeping plants watered is quite difficult as the weather is still dry and hot. Nothing like the temperatures you have nothing more than low 20s centigrade. But we’re just not used to those temperatures.
Still moseying along following my new habits. It’s been over two years now that I’ve been In maintenance, and I think I just have to accept that I have reached my optimal weight. At least that’s what it says on my SmartBMI assessment this morning.
I’m working on flexibility and improving muscle tone. I expect it will have an effect eventually.
@Faetta - it’s good to see you posting here again
Heather - I am impressed by what you have done so far to market your memoir. You’re doing a grand job on it.
Welcome to our new folk.
Love to everyone.

Rebecca - I am over the moon for you. Next time you see her she will carry on as if she saw you yesterday.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx1 -
Sue--Pray all went well with surgery yesterday.
Katla--Very Happy Birthday!
Heather--Love the picture and glad the visit went well. Great memories.
Kiz--Sending hugs and prayers for the baby and everyone.
Deb--Sounds like you got a lot done while at your mom's. Sounds like the bird was a visit and a special one.
Flea--Looks good, I could not tell until someone said something.
Rebecca--Love the pictures and that your visit went so well. Those little hugs and kisses are the best.
Been a rough several days. Not sleeping well, lots of bad dreams. Eating has not been good. shows in weight this morning as up a pound. Time to put the big girl panties on and take care of business.
Sunday I did talk to the new girl and we agreed it was not working out and so I let her go. Her answer for the whole thing was "ok". Nothing else. Also been helping the sister of the young man who passed away. I can not believe how the funeral home tried to take advantage. I have a good friend who owns one of the funeral homes in here town and got an idea about what things should cost. The service is Friday morning so things are getting taken care of .
On a bright note my niece and her husband had the final court hearing this morning and the baby is theirs to keep. Been a long 3 weeks waiting for the final hearing. A couple months ago the little boy they got the mom changed her mind and took him back. So afraid of that happening again and when the lawyer called on Friday and said the birth parents wanted to meet the night before the hearing we were all scared for them. But just got a message that the hearing is done and she is theirs. God is good!

This has been a great birthday for me. I had a message from a very dear friend. We met in Junior High. We lost touch for long years. A few years ago we had our 50th Highschool Reunion. I was able to find her brother and he gave me contact information. We met in person then and haven’t met in person again since the pandemic began. Her call today is a wonderful surprise. ❤️5

My grands still love baking and crafts. Once we had a "movie night". I wrote out invitations to them, made out a menu, told them what movie we were "going" to see. They loved it! We had hot dogs with chips and apple wedges. Then popcorn with the movie. Just cuddled up in a darkened room with each other like at a theater.

Katla - Happy Birthday and what a wonderful surprise.
KJ A few minutes can so easily turn into hours for me. Hope you had fun.
Rebecca you look like you are having fun!
Barbie - so jealous. I need to get some zucchini planted
Carol - Don't we all with chocolate milk shakes were a weight loss tool
Heather - I know what you mean on the social media. I have a sponsorship for my seahorses and I need to get back to the plugging.
You can do it! Post your link and I'll sign up to boost your numbers
Annie You are so consistant loggin 757 days.
Allie - I had spinning at one point and it was actually low blood pressure. I hope yours is nothing serious
Debbie even more jealous of your rows of planted anything.
Sue hope your eye settle down soon. Glad you don't have to do chores
Machka Looks fun. Need to get a hobby like biking but the seat always hurts my bum.
Kim I'm a shortie and any extra weight shows on me. Of course I have so much extra weight it would show on anyone.
Pip- Kirby is sweet.
Michele you are so consistant about the exercise. I need to get there.
Rita - I love my Low Carb ketosis eating. It isn't really keto. It isn't quite LCHF. I saw it as a trend called healthy keto. I eat less than 50 grams net carbs but lots and lots of veggies and the fat is just natural like in cheese or on a good cut of meat.
Vicki - Sorry the new girl didn't work. Finding good help is so hard. But happy news with the baby!So the Low carb ketosis diet with intermittent fasting is working well for my main goal of lowering triglycerides without meds. And to counteract Insulin Resistance to avoid Type 2 diabetes.
I have been taking a few non-prescription things like niacin to bring tri's down which was helping. Last week I quit the Niacin and my numbers still look good, I included some background for scale. I started Low carb ketosis on 6/26
Before this I was eating 'healthy' mostly low fat with veggies. So chicken, green beans and sweet potato with no butter or oil would have been dinner. Overnight oats with flax would have been breakfast. Or a 180 calorie frozen breakfast sandwich. I was eating fewer calories and losing less weight than 'they' say I should. And if I ate anywhere near maintenance calories I gained.
Before I got hungry a lot, had cravings. Now I eat when I'm hungry but less hungry and fewer cravings.
Date...............Weight ..............Total Choles..........Tri
10/10/20.......198.1...................136................. 311
6/24/21....... 204.2.....................196...................235
Day I started LC
6/26/21..........207
7/2/21..............202.1.............. 175.....................120
7/8/21..............201.2..............194.....................116
7/20/21.............200.5..............160...................123 So fairly happy today.
Today at work was quite a day. I stress ate. I knew I was doing it but still ended the day near 1500 calories. I am hoping to find the strength to do a little mild exercise before bed to knock 100 calories or so off that total.
I did had 54 net carbs so that is too many. I'll check ketosis tomorrow.
I am thankful for my husband. He is a great and wonderful soulmate who brings me coffee in the mornings.
I am thankful for my house. It's messy but mine and allows me an escape from the world. All my favorite things are inside it.
I am thankful for my job. They may ask ridiculous impossible things sometimes but I get to work from home and help children who need it. My pay is low but higher than most people in the world.
I am thankful for reading and finding reliable information about insulin resistance and low carb healthy keto. It has given me hope of a healthy future that I didn't think was going to happen.
I am thankful for my yard. While I have fallen down on the garden right now, it still has some raised beds waiting for me. It has Grapefruit, Orange, Lemon, Fig, Persimmon, Pindo Palm, Mulberry, Peach and Loquat that I don't have to do anything and still get fruit
I am thankful for my hobbies as they are a great creative outlet. Raising baby seahorses is fun.
Goal: Stop stress eating. Don't quit my job.

Reading "Life Interrupted".
A quote that made me ponder.
,"Recovery isn’t a gentle self-care spree that restores you to a pre-illness state. Though the word may suggest otherwise, recovery is not about salvaging the old at all. It’s about accepting that you must forsake a familiar self forever, in favor of one that is being newly born. It is an act of brute, terrifying discovery."

Did Denise Austin’s Power Zone DVD then went for my aerobic walk. The plan for tomorrow is to do (maybe just a part) Gilad’s 45/45 split Fat Burning Workout DVD
Rebecca – sorry, but that picture of you with Athena – well, she’s just the center of the picture, she’s so adorable. You know, I had to go back and look at the picture of you! Glad you had such a wonderful trip!
Counted the collection money at the church then the lady I count with and I went out to lunch. I’d never been to this place and she didn’t even know it was there! It wasn’t real expensive, but I was glad to see that they had grilled things. I was thinking that they only had deep fried since the place is called “Dixie Chick”. Had a grilled chicken sandwich, lettuce, tomato, no mayo and instead of the french fries, had applesauce. Just water to drink.
Right now I’m making a loaf of sourdough bread for the new neighbors. Maybe later today I’ll work on the towel for them. Then, to find a time when they are home, or that I’m reasonably sure they are home.
Carol GA – You know, they take me about an hour/towel to make.
I know when ordering online with WalMart you can request “no substitution” so I would think you could do that with Instacart, too.
Barbara – the reason I really don’t want to drive into Hickory for the mahjongg is not so much that I wouldn’t have to drive at night, but I just can’t justify driving that distance for only a few games. And, to be honest, I really like going to ceramics. I can’t do as much now that they have reduced hours.
Happy birthday Katla, you spring chicken, you. What a wonderful birthday call you had!
Vicki – so happy for you all
Went for my evening walk then played mahjongg by the pool. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice so I’ll probably go in the pool and the WHY traps need to be cleaned, they catch EVERYTHING I love reconnecting with high school friends.
Kiz – even tho you went over calories, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you saw a loss. Sometimes our bodies need to be “fooled”. If they keep doing the same thing (at or below calories) it gets used to that. By mixing it up, it fools the body.

Well ladies
Just back from our riverfront park, had a blast with my girlfriends ,the name of the band was Locomotion and they played all the old stuff, earth wind and fire,kc and the sunshine band, the jackson 5 ,we were jàmmin.. only thing is i sat to long in my chair and had to hold onto the picnic table to haul myself up..
They are power washing the condo complex starting tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning.3 -
Allie, If you enjoy listening to music at the park, you would probably enjoy listening to music at home while you do chores. YouTube has practically every song you can think of. Listening to music has gotten me through many tough times/

Allie sounds like a great outing!
I have to get up early and drop off my car for an oil change. It needs the registration renewed with an inspection. I just hope I don't need new tires yet.
My diet is not going well. I am trying to use up the food we bought for my sister's visit, but it leaves me unsatisfied then I get into the cookies at night.

Bicycle saddles can be changed.
The bicycle set up also goes a long way toward comfort.
I also don't entirely "sit" on the saddle. If you've got reasonably strong legs and core, you can distribute your weight between your feet and bum. That helps with comfort too.
