Welcome to all those who are new.
Penny - enjoy the island.
Welcome back Trucker.
Lovely morning today. I pick my DD up at the airport this evening. I am excited to see her pictures of Iceland. She sent me a few but I am sure she has many more. It was fine on my own for 2 weeks but I will be happy to have her back.

England won 4 - 0 !
Play Denmark on Wednesday in the semis.
I predicted 5 - 0.
We had a bourbon to celebrate.
DH has cricket tomorrow, but I doubt they will be playing as rain is forecast most of the day. He will have a look at the forecast tomorrow morning. He obviously wants to see his friend, but it is a 3 hr round trip. A long way to sit in the drizzle.
I was looking forward to a few days on my own.

Rant:My little eye surgery is making me dread having to have the 2nd procedure on my other eye. Even though they numbed the eye, I could feel that they were scraping my cornea and then felt when he was smoothing it out....that was rough. Then, they did not call in the eye drops and I was miserable for the next 15 hours. DH was furious because we kept trying to call the eye clinic and they didn't answer. Finally got a doc on call at 5:30 AM and she called in the drops. These cost $238 after insurance. Anyway, I think the drops will help and I keep lubricating with moisturizing drops. I know so many of you have gone through so much worse and feel like a complainer, but, I have always been pretty healthy and this has been an ordeal for me. I have the next eye to do in August. Hopefully, I will be able to have cataract surgery after that.11

So sorry Carol. Sounds horrible.

Flea, i hope it’s found that you’re in much better shape than they thought. I also hope they pay better attention to your concerns and questions. Ask every question you can think of and if possible bring someone with you to document the answers. Writing them yourself will give you more chance of being distracted and losing your train of thought.
Allie, I’ve been out of touch for months, but am glad you’re finally putting your SIL on your to be ignored permanently list. We have only so much energy and some folks just suck it all up.
There have been so many changes for a lot of you. Not so many for me. I think I have less get up and go, but I’m scheduling little blocks of time, like 10-20 minutes in an hour, to get some of the little stuff done. Today it’s hanging up and putting away a mass of clean laundry. It gives me a good feeling to see less clutter on the bed where it was sitting.
I’ve discovered another sweet treat for myself w no calories. 1/2 my cooler cop filled w the clear fruit flavored seltzer they sell so cheaply at Safeway, Kroger and most other supermarkets. Second 1/2 filled w ice and water and a small squeeze of a complementary flavor of Mio or similar flavoring drops. Right now it’s Safeway’s tangerine/grapefruit with peach mango Mio drops.

Carol - is someone allowed to go in to appointment with You? I would not go in for the second procedure until they addressed the problems of the first one. You need to ask them what exactly they will do differently to make this a better experience for you. Remember it is called the practice of medicine for a reason. We are not all cookie- cutter people and we are not body parts that are broken we are whole people with unique and complicated medical histories. We do not each respond to medications in the same way. Sorry, I will dismount from my hobby horse but you need to advocate for yourself if there is no one else.

Sharon good to see you post!1 -
Did Cathe Friedrich Upper Body Pyramid DVD then went for a walk. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Yoga for Weight Loss DVD
Food Lion called. We didn’t answer mainly because if they ask me not to come in Monday I want proof that they asked. So far, a light hasn’t lit on the phone indicating that a message was left. I know they weren’t calling to ask me to come in.
Sunny here and not nearly as humid. Good day for the pool, but then again any day when it isn’t raining is a good day for the pool.
Made the filling for the shrimp tarts that I’ll take to bowling Monday. The flavors need to meld, that’s why I made it today for Monday. Also got the IP started to make yogurt. Got dinner ready to microwave. Now to go in the pool. Church tonight
Carol – how horrible! ((HUG))
Just came back from my evening walk. Too late to play mahjongg outside, the landscape lights will be coming on soon (which is my que to go inside). Think I'll take a shower and either watch TV or play mahjongg.

Vicki - I saw this and thought of you.
Allie - I think it’s time you told Dan he has a deadline to figure out transportation that does not include you. It was only supposed to be a few weeks wasn’t it?
One of my friends is moving back to Nova Scotia, I’m really going to miss her. Today we bought her old SUV from her for DH to have a vehicle too. I will miss our morning drives when he takes me to work, but it will be so nice to go and do something when he is at work.
She also gave me two IKEA shelves that I will be using in the craftroom that I want to make into a sitting/spare room. My daughter and her friend are going to come do it with so I’m not laid up for days on end again.
Have a Happy Independence Day to those that are in the 🇺🇸

Hugs Carol,
hope the drops help! I remember having pterygium surgery on my left eye. They scraped a mass off, then cut a circle part of my jellied eye covering from the back part of my eye and stitched it in the middle, between the mass they sanded off and my color part of my eye. Truly amazing! I still have the protective circle and its been years!
Hugs

4-Find something to look forward to today: Tuesday’s big adventure with T and R.
Met T, D & V at Chetco Brewing for vegan dinner, beer and live music. It just felt so good to be with smiling people and hearing live music for the second time within 7 days. So thankful.
Welcome @pdd1216 Diane from TN!
Sharon rejoicing to see your smiling face again.
Jenn hope you can see taking 2 lbs off as a victory. It would be a blessing to me
Candy in LA what kinds of dogs do you have? Neither can I walk both (a Skye and a GSD/Flatcoat cross) of ours by myself.
Machka that “…real good stuff…” meme is spot on, and a timely reminder. Scrubbing the floor doesn’t sound like a day off to

Heather You ARE magic! And you would be welcome in our van. It’s not fancy, but a queen sized mattress, reading lamp, electric heater and only steps away from our indoor plumbing. The picnic table has a tiny peek at the ocean down the powerline easement. Just don’t open the door when the dogs are out, they love to jump into the van
Pip the backyard bar sign.
Lisa that T-shirt quilt is a stunner.
KJ where will your older brother’s family live?
Carol praying your eye procedure went well and the recovery is swift and painless. Love the pic of that big hound.
Carla we’re happy you’re here. Please feel no pressure to comment. My long posts are symptomatic of a character flaw, have not been able to outgrow my early training to always respond whenever Mama paused for breath.
Con grats on that NSV Penny!
Beth con very grats on taking off those 2.5 lbs. Very interested in your statin experiment. I’d love to get off my Parvastatin, think its responsible for my aching butt and hips. Fortunately its not as bad as when I was taking Atorvastatin. The square foot gardener is one of my favoritesYou’re inspiring me to get back out into the garden… after I finish chopping the brush along that side of the house. Maybe some cool season vegetables …
Margaret bravely done. Thanks for the pine needle mulch tip, might spruce needles work as well?
Katla does the fish fertilizer attract pets? Fingers X’d for your fuschia.
Flea, thank you for the update. Ditto everyone’s prayers and sending good chi your way.
Carol thank you for sharing your horrific experience. It helps me to understand the pain Joe suffered but could not /would not express. I knew he was hurting when he just sat in his recliner for weeks at a time, but didn’t realize how awful it was.
Sue in WA your advice to Carol is spot on.
Dogs barking intermittently and won’t calm. I don’t hear or see them but I’m guessing the neighbors on the next ridge are shooting off fireworks in anticipation of Independence Day. Fingers Xd it will be over tomorrow.
Whew, caught up for the moment.

Happy Sunday and Happy 4th of July!
I had planned on having most of today to catch up on a few things....the best laid plans .....Anyway, DH wants to go to a car show. I knew we have the one in our town tomorrow, so that was planned in. He asked me yesterday on way home what I wanted to do. Training, paperwork, laundry, household paperwork, and dusting-exciting I know. I told him I needed some time at home this weekend. Ooops! Forgot we were suppose to go to a friend's house after work! One of his school friends is in town from GA and wanted to see him. Good thing M texted me! DH was doing the dishes for me when I got the text. Steve really wanted to go as he was ready to go out the door in less than 5 minutes! As I said, the best laid plans.....I won't put off time with family and friends for work stuffs though. It will get done. Maybe I need to take Tuesday off work and stay home to get work done-hahahahaha! Only SIL gets to do that- grumble.
Carol- That sounds awful!!!! I hope you get some relief! Anything eye related makes me nervous since my husband's eye injury. Hugs!
Laundry is going again. Should get off here and do some paperwork. Steve is in garage wiping down the car. Old blue is going today (2008). Red (the new one) will go to tomorrow's show. Hey....now we need a white one! LOL!!!
Have a wonderful day whatever it brings!
Love, hugs, welcomes, and prayers!

PS....Michele could come work for me! She might not like the Ohio weather though!0

Barbara— Alaska Fish fertilizer does not attract unwelcome pests. It is in a sturdy plastic jar on a timer that dilutes it & mixes it with city water. Unfortunately, the fuchsia didn’t survive the extreme heat. I replaced it with a geranium.1
-
DH eventually went off to the cricket. I hope he gets to see some.
Then I managed to break a whole bottle of red AF wine on the granite worktops. Glass and red liquid EVERYWHERE! Took about half an hour to completely clear it up!
One of my best friends is currently touch and go in hospital. He has lung cancer and was doing really well on treatment, but pneumonia keeps getting the better of him. Both his sons are down there in Cornwall now with their mum. The next 48 hours are crucial.
I am especially attached to them as he was one of my ex husband's best friends from childhood, but remained friends with both of us after our split and didn't take sides. We have visited often and swapped houses. My profile pic was taken on one of those swaps. They are a lovely couple, who have been together since they were teenagers and "had" to get married when she got pregnant. Over 50 years married. I have known both of them longer than that.
My thoughts will be with them.
Much love to all. Please enjoy your lives, it is not a rehearsal.

I am looking forward to Fourth of July fireworks. This will be the first year in a long while since we’ve been able to see and enjoy them. Our sweet old dog was terrified of them and we left town to camp in a county park for several years to avoid the the loud bangs and booms.3

Barbara yes spruce would work too. It will make soil acidic so make sure the plants you use it on like acidic soil. That is where internet helps.0

I dreamed of a cream filled doughnut 😁5
-
Carol- Thinking of you and sending big hugs for your eye surgery! It will be okay. Just remember it is your first time, but your doctor has done this many times before. He is a pro! ((hugs))
Barbara- I am not sure where my brother and his family will move. Now that the boys have graduated high school, they could really move wherever they want. I am sure they will stay in West Michigan. There is a LOT of farmland and rural areas between the lakeshore and Grand Rapids (the nearest big-ish city). I am sure housing is less expensive in the rural areas.
The neighborhoods around my house have been lighting off fireworks for the past two nights. My neighbor, Ruth, has terrible PTSD. She spends the fourth of July in her house with it all closed up, air conditioner on if it is hot. She has a family room in her basement that is cork lined to keep out sound. She spends the firework holidays in there. The kids painted her some pictures of fireworks and we made her some cookies last week. She was surprised and gave all of the kids a hug. Her son called me yesterday. He had called to check in on her and she told him about the artwork (which she hung up in her family room) and treat, so he called to thank us. We love Miss Ruth.
I got a viber call from Joaquin. He was in a state yesterday. Having a bad day. Nothing going right. There was a thunderstorm and he wanted to be outside. He cried into the phone, "I just want to come to your house! I want to play outside and go to the beach! I want a fudgesicle with grandpa! Miguel wants to come, too! Mama can stay at home!" lol Poor guy! If I could just scoop him up and fly him here, I would in a second. I will be seeing them all in October; not sure if they are coming here, or I am going there, though.
Kylia- You should take a week day off! This will allow you to enjoy yourself this weekend; and still get the work done that you need to get done. What is the worst that can happen? Maybe hubby and sis will realize how much work you do while you are there?! You should leave a list of things that need to get done that day, and that will give them something to "work on" when there are no customers to wait on. TAKE THE DAY!
Allie- I don't know if I would suggest having Dan find another way to work. It seems to me that this is the only time you see your son. Maybe you both need that time with eachother? I say, as long as you aren't rearranging your life/job around him needing a ride to work; do it as long as it brings you both joy.
Well, my walking is going well. I visited seven different trails/parks on my vacation two weeks ago. One of my favorites is a "flat" walk that has a floating bridge that goes across a large pond/marsh. So many birds, frogs, ducks, turtles, etc. It was lovely. I think I will head there, later today. I have a bbq that is being hosted by one of my childcare families to attend. I will probably hang out for a couple of hours. Their springer spaniel had puppies a few weeks ago; so the pups will be available for petting and adopting (not by me, but maybe other attendees). I will hike the trail after the bbq, because it is between their house and mine.
I got my shopping and paperwork done yesterday. All paperwork is complete and filed for the new little guy! Yea! Today I will clean house and make a dish to pass for the bbq. I think I will just buy a veggie tray on the way. I better get busy. Love to you all! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)7 -
Yesterday (Saturday), I got up and did the next module of my course while my husband napped, then we went out and bought me an armchair! I've been looking for a new desk chair of some sort. I wanted something comfortable. Something I could sort of curl up in, relax in, do my colouring in, work with my laptop in, etc. I wanted something very upright and firm ... I don't like soft chairs and chairs that slope back. I can't get comfortable in "plush" cushion-y stuff.
Our first venture out to look at chairs, last weekend, revealed that I like expensive leather office and arm chairs. Sadly they are out of my budget. So I had to refocus.
I turned my attention to office chairs ... and didn't like any of them. Finally, I ended up with this! It will be made for me and I might get it in about 2 months. It's beautifully upright with a very firm seat cushion. And that is the colour/material I chose as well ... my choice of about 50 options!
When I got home, I was completely wiped out. Tried to do a few things, and ended up sleeping on the sofa for 1.5 hours before the Tour de France came on.
Another long sleep last night, and today was another stay-at-home in the pyjamas day. It's been rainy, windy and cool all day so that helped.
Finally caught up on my laundry - all put away and everything!
Did a bit more colouring.
Played with Rhody.
And I've been working through my Audax cycling stuff while watching Le Tour.
Not overly excited about going back to work tomorrow. I would be happy with several stay-at-home pyjama days. But I'm thankful for this 3-day weekend.
