I am baaaack LOL
I was not AF on our little 3 day road trip. But when we did drink it really was in moderation. 2 shots of brandy both nights so I am not hurt by this.
We really did have a very relaxing time. On Saturday we drove to this little tourist town on the Puget Sound. They also have the annual tulip festival in this area. ( https://lovelaconner.com/skagit-valley-tulip-festival-2021/ ) See the Pictures. We may plan a trip next year to go see this again. It had been years since we went up for the festival.
Walked up and down the main street, stopped in some local art galleries and talked with the owner/artists. Great networking for me. I am going to reach out to one of them who also has a studio about an hour from my house. They way we were chatting I may be able to use some of her wall space (?) We will see.
Saturday night we went to "the raceway" and watched these little cars with spoilers on them race on a dirt track...wow they go fast and are aggressive when going around the curves. I mean they literally went sideways! how they kept from rolling was beyond me.
The drive home today was uneventful and now that I am home I am going to relax, have an ice cold water then think about a few moctails for this evening. I really need to make some more kombuca. The tea is ready for the flavor part so I need to get on it before it turns to vinegar.
OH my to all these photo's of the water! And here I was out enjoying my views and did not take a single picture. Am I jealous ....yes I am.

I have had an aha moment today. I knew that I could add different meals, snacks but it NEVER occurred to me until today to use one of those slots for alcohol consumed. Now I will easily see how many of my daily/ weekly calories are from alcohol.10

Had a fantastic time at the wedding. It was beautiful. Saw tons of people haven’t seen since our kids were in grade school. Hope I didn’t get covid (no one taking precautions). Stuck to my drink plan but ate more than planned. Again. Seated dinner with desert... then wedding cake. After dessert. They plated 3 cakes on each plate- wedding, groom’s AND a strawberry birthday cake for the groom. Is that a thing now— dessert then cake?
Out of curiosity...what was the pre-cake dessert? I really can't imagine what would get me ready for cake after a full meal. Strawberries maybe? Anyway, good job sticking to your drinking plan. Never easy at a big event.
@Womona I bought a trailer, played around in a parking lot, drove to my place and backed it, drove across the country....then ended up needing two different guys help backing it in the parking garage of my apartment...I hate that. I'm a mechanical engineer, drive/race/overland, and very self sufficient. Felt like such an idiot, but the boys didn't mind lol.6 -
August goal - at least 2 AF days for every 1 drinking day (So 21 AF and 10 drinks days max). On the drinks days I plan to have no more than 2.

Week 3
8/15 Drinks (3)

@ahoy_m8
Usually you are in the clear if 12 months go by! Maybe it is the last little bit vacating. Let's hope so.
And yes, i really hope that you didn't get Covid!5 -
I am continuing with my usual goal, 16-20 AF days for the month, diary style
Friday Aug 13 - Drinks. Friday the 13th!! I had intentions to be AF, but just wasn't. Had an awesome day at another lake. Photos to come.
Saturday Aug 14 - AF - I am at about 50% this month so far, kind of like last month where it was top-loaded with drinks days.
Sunday Aug 15 - AF - Schedule change and I have the day off tomorrow - this sometimes signals that it would be a good time to have drinks. I think that with working as much as i did all through the spring when days off didn't exist, I became very self-indulgent once they appeared and I knew that I actually had the next day off. Still a good idea for me not to drink if I have work the next day. Refrained today, more for my waistline than any other reason : - )
Rolling total: 8AF days out of 15 days3 -
@lmlmrn
Thank you for the link to Skagit. Beautiful! I was thinking that it is way too late in the season for tulips, but of course as I read down I see that it is April 10th.
Quite an undertaking. Such a positive light.
I thought that you were in Washington, then was confused that you had art hanging in Maine. You go girl!2 -

Love the photos, everyone! Good job stopping at one, @Lilylady3k. @Womona I feel everything related to boat trailering is terrifying. It’s nice having a partner in crime who doesn’t mind. What a crazy fun day you had! @tmbg1 I have been there. The last time I realized I was drinking in anger, I decided I really don’t want to be an angry drunk and have not had the urge to drink in anger since then. I’ve had the urge plenty, but not as a response to anger. Baby steps.
Had a fantastic time at the wedding. It was beautiful. Saw tons of people haven’t seen since our kids were in grade school. Hope I didn’t get covid (no one taking precautions). Also, TMI alert, I started a period today. After 1 year, 2 months and 9 days without one. I really thought I was past this. 😕. Discouraged. Maybe related to unusual hunger past couple days? I dunno. Anyone hear of this happening to anyone else?
Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! Oh man, that totally stinks. “Just at when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” Well, that explains insatiable hunger. What a drag though. I thought after a year you can declare yourself done. Never heard of it reappearing after more than a year, but I guess everyone is different.
The wedding sounds awesome! Glad you had a great time. That is a lot of cake, I agree!5 -
@lmlmrn the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is a sight to behold. Well worth the trip. All those acres and acres of beautiful tulips! Yet another thing I miss about living in PNW.
@dawnbgethealthy lovely pictures of a beautiful lake. Swoon! Nothing better than floating around on a lake.
Great day of sailing yesterday- nice and windy, and I got out of trailering duty! Woo hoo! Had a High Noon on the boat, and a glass of wine with a very late dinner. My weight is way up these last 2 weeks, I really need to buckle down and address it. I have one AF day so far this month. My goal is no drinks until Friday.5 -
Last night was a real challenge for me. DH opened a bottle of wine @4pm that I bought and like but I had already claimed it as an AF night for me. I opened a different bottle of Kombucha raspberry lemon ginger and poured half. It was way too much like a Jolly Rancher sweet sour candy. I could have poured in a sparkling water or club soda to cut it but ended up pouring it down the drain after 3 sips. I like wine because it is dry and not sweet so it just wasn't cutting it. Switched to regular water ... took 1 sip of DH's wine glass ... and continued with water for the rest of the evening.
The scale appreciated it. Down 1.4 lbs from last Monday.
August accountability: 10/15 days AF
Alcohol: 5 days (10 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.8 -
Happy Monday is here, easiest day of the week to not drink for me!
An hour long morning bike ride is in store to sweat out all the calories from the weekend. Off I go!9 -
Another gem from Beck Diet Solution that I think works for our Less Alcohol group!
Monday Motivation: We heard the quote recently, "Mistakes are proof that you are trying," and we love it so much! Mistakes aren't an indication that you can't do it, they're an indication that you're not giving up.9 -
Great quote @Lilylady3k , I can apply that to many things in my life!
I’m back, but don’t have much to contribute. I’m just glad to be here. Thank you @MissMay !

Planning to go AF the rest of the month now. I have woken up with some nausea the last two days. Yesterday, I had to lay down part of the day and this morning, I started the day with some crackers like I'm pregnant again! (I'm not - no chance of that! LOL!) Not good for my low carb/keto plans, so tomorrow I will get back on track.

The pre-cake dessert was a miniature trio: cheesecake with strawberry slice on top, key lime tart, blackberry cobbler. To be fair they were quite small, e.g. the cheesecake was the size of a button, and I wouldn't have known there was any blackberry in the cobbler had the menu not stated it. But add that to the plate of 3 cakes, it was a lot of tastes.4
