Ran into my philosophy teacher friend M.again today at café and had way longer talk than planned. I couldn't believe how late it was when I left. we must have talked at least an hour: politics, work, vacation... Now there are 4 of us women who seem to go there daily. Saturday I was talking to a researcher and a person job searching in business. M who've I've spoken to several times over past months was telling me about a very traumatic experience of one of her classmates when she was a kid, when the 2 other women came by yesterday. I couldn't really stop and welcome them into the conversation so they may well think I was snubbing them but that really wasn't the case. Hopefully I can tell them some time, in a discrete way.

HOW MUCH TIME WOULD YOU SPEND TO LOOK UP HEALTH INFO ONLINE?

At present I don't have a very available responsive, etc, health team, so I definitely have to do some research myself. But one can go down the internet rabbit hole doing research about stuff.. :D A bit is good, but a lot, so-so...

I spent quite a bit of time researching brain injury when my husband had his accident. I've gone on to take 2 courses about brain injury and to join the brain injury association here.

But regarding my health issues, I try not to look up too much. A lot of it can be repetitive and a lot says that you've got to have this or that test to find out for sure. So there's really no point to speculate. I prefer to deal with what IS happening rather than with might possibly be happening.

    Stat for the day-

Housecleaning- 2hrs 51sec, vacuum, dusting, laundry, cut it short, went to see sis in law and bro= 558c

PIP I'm sure its from Fitbit or something but the 51 seconds makes me laugh.

BARBIE that's great double activity -creating and WO (workout)

    ALLIE
    glad you are feeling better!!

-Great job on keeping of the smokes! That is major!
-Here I think masks are mandatory inside most places and not outside most places, with some variations. It seems right that you called for a vote if one of the members was for making choices contrary to recent other vote. Good for you!
    - Yes having to be in the city int he 1st half of August the time when EVERYONE is away is a bit much, sometimes. I would have enjoyed it more had I been able to hang out at park, pool, etc. As it was, it was not my all time best moment ever. :D
    -
How often to check skin/get skin checked.
-I have definitely seen it recommended to be seen by a dermatologist 1x a year, many times. Some are very thorough and check every imaginable bit of skin with a dermoscope (special very helpful tool), and others are much more slapdash!
-I see that full body monthly self check is now advised for all
    and
-to go to quickly to dermotologist if one sees something suspicious.

    Ongoing Health Suff
as you can see - I'ma bit stressed about this thing, to add to the rest. I surely hope I'll discover it was for naught. This particular thing has rather good prognosis if caught early and quite bad if caught late. I have seen 4- 6 weeks delay evoked as "early" - and we are well past that, but I just saw one study that considers + 4 months as "late", which gives me a bit more time.
I reached the receptionist at the hospital who said she just came back from vacation. She seemed more on top of things than the others who were more or less helpful and kind (one quite the other really not!), and she said it's not sure that a doctor can call me this week since most are on vacation. that's just the way it is here, and there is not much one can do about it!
I can try calling back again tomorrow and see what she says. On one hand this is one case where relatively prompt intervention can make a major difference. On the other hand as we age there is likely to be more and more of these scares which are for real risks, and it's surely better to not freak out all the time and to develop skills for self-advocating and also self-soothing.

I finished the baby blanket last night! YAY! :) I admit that I’m considering a minor change in the trim. I have loads of time to make minor adjustments. The baby isn’t due until October. <3

    Cleaner came.
We have cleared the hall, of furniture, coats, shoes and pictures. A couple of the screws in the wall can stay for new pics, mirror etc, otherwise he can fill the holes. Then we took down the horrible old landing curtains which we inherited with the house. When we dismantled the curtain rail DH bashed his thumb. :/ I had quite a bit of dust to hoover up.

KJ - I will post pics of the finished hall. Af the moment there is nothing to see. We still have to decide on the shade of white. For some reason you have been in my dreams almost every night recently. With short hair. ;) No idea what that's about!

Feel slightly on edge with the disruption, but it will be fine. The painter is a lovely, gentle man.

My doctor's surgery said I could book online for a flu jab, but the system is not currently working. I'll keep trying.

Machka-I have a tote box I put cards and stuff in and then every couple years I go through and decide what to keep. At one time I had saved every card I had gotten since I was 17. Went back over them and saved the ones that was the last one I got from family members that passed away. I keep to much but gives me comfort.

Katla--Happy dance the blanket is done. Looking forward to pictures.

RvRita--Hugs and prayers <3 Looks like your visitor might of come from Hawaii, cute

Had this last weekend off and was on the go the whole time. Now back to work and see the doctor Thursday for my 6 month checkup. Got the blood work done this morning here at the hospital and signed up for the patient portal so can look up my results. Part that is done looks good, now for the AC1 and cholesterol which might take a couple days as machine is down and have to send out.

Rebecca – I agree with you. Moldy berries need to be composted, not eaten. :noway: The photo of you and your granddaughter is precious.

Machka – “But regarding my health issues, I try not to look up too much. A lot of it can be repetitive and a lot says that you've got to have this or that test to find out for sure. So there's really no point to speculate. I prefer to deal with what IS happening rather than with might possibly be happening.” Your comment is wise.

Allie – It sounds like the ultrasonic device is helping you deal with your pup, Alfie. :flowerforyou:

I spent the morning getting my car fueled up, buying necessities, and stopping into the tire store to make sure my tires are doing okay. I am ready for a little down time. (doing laundry, making bed . . . )

Allie - GREAT decision! "not chasing after people who are to busy worrying themselves" The pandemic has made me re-think some relationships too and the folks who are all about themselves are being moved out of my friend circle too.

:'( In light of the WA indoor mask mandate and rising cases of Covid, I made the sad decision to cancel my line dance class until things get better We can't dance wearing masks

    <3 Barbie in NW WA

I am considering that with my Zumba class, for the same reason. I am fine wearing it walking in and out of the building and as long as I am at least 12-15 ft away from the next person.
I don't want to go back to Zoom Zumba because it is too easy for me to not join in or just do it half way.
It won't be quite as bad when the weather cools down a lot but right now- it is HARD. I make it through the full hour but just BARELY. Our county isn't under mandatory masks but many places are choosing to enforce it.

Then I have church in the next county which is under mandatory masks and I went yesterday(missed last Sunday because I was up at mom's) and out of I am guessing 60 or so people, only four had masks on and that included me.

Did a body pump DVD then went for my walk. The plan for tomorrow is to do a workout on the rebounder.

Barbara – I remember one time we had a party with a 50’s and 60’s theme. For a dessert I made brownies and sprinkled oregano on top

Julie – 1200/day is usually before exercise. See, I don’t add in my exercise calories. I figure if I go over a bit, then I have a “buffer”. I usually don’t spend a lot of time looking up health info. There is so much conflicting information.

Allie – you’re doing great by Alfie. I’m sure he’ll learn to not bark

katla – yea on finishing that blanket

RV Rita – love the camper

Went to bowling then bought gas for cutting the grass (weeds). Will have dinner then cut the grass. I’m a little disappointed. The gym I used last year doesn’t have a weekly membership. OK. But...they charge $10/day. I would only use it for an hour and I’d want to use it earlier in the day so we can paint, etc. Now they do have a free weeks’ membership, but I’d have to go there only when the lady is there which is 10-6. So that really wouldn’t work for me. She tried talking to her boss about charging me $5 which I think is reasonable. But she won’t budge. Looks like my exercise will be just walking. Oh well...it’s not for that long.

Barbie – I’m so sorry you had to cancel your classes. I know how much you look forward to them and I’m sure the people in your class look forward to them, too.

Cut the weeds so didn’t have time for my evening walk. However, cutting the weeds certainly gave me my steps!

I'm at work, but we might go out for dinner tonight. :) I'll aim for 36 flights of stairs today. I've done 18 already.

Barbie I am sorry you are putting your class on hold. I know how much you enjoy it.

I started going back to a painting class. This one meets once a month rather than weekly. I will try to post them tomorrow.
