Thank you for all that you do!!
I am continuing with my usual goals, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 18 last month, I have had as much as 23 a few times.
Being here with y'all gives me the accountability that I need and want.
I was a daily drinker at one time, and gradually moved it to my current goal which I have been able to uphold for quite some time.
I have no intention of becoming an abstainer. I enjoy my drinks, just less often, kind of like I have done with certain fattening foods.
I do plan my drinks days for the most part, but usually it is my schedule that dictates that. Trying not to have drinks when I work the following day.
Diary style is how I like to keep track here.
Wednesday September 01 - AF - Really felt like having drinks after working in the yard after work, but tomorrow after work (or my day off Friday, or both) is my planned drinks, so I didn't have any tonight.
Thursday September 02 - 2 drinks. Possibly drinks tomorrow too, we'll see.
Rolling Total - 1AF day out of 2 days.
I appreciate your sharing thoughts like this, diary style. You came to my mind last night, @dawnbgethealthy, because I thought a glass of rose that DH had opened in the refrigerator sounded nice, but I thought of you and told myself the exact thing you said above .. it's not my night. Tomorrow is my night. Also, I didn't have calories for it.
@lilawolf I hope you have a fantastic weekend outside in the sun and don't think at all about the job prospects. I just had a call this morning from a friend who has been interviewing for a job he really wants. The interview process has been 7 weeks so far (many, many applicants) and they recently told him they plan to make him an offer. Although 7 weeks is not at all a long time for filling the position he has been pursuing (my opinion), at times he felt like they weren't that interested. In the mean time, another company has swooped in much more quickly with an offer he really didn't want to like, but now he is anguished because both prospects are genuinely so good -- a good problem to have! All that is to say, waiting 4 days does not mean they are less interested, and on the flip side, it gives the universe a little more time to send something even more fantastic your way.6 -

Friday September 03 - Drinks - I had an amazing day off, I got up super early and got a lot done before going to my friend's place at 7am for coffee. Indoor chores accomplished, a crapload of stuff done in the yard/garden. Kicking back now. I have a 3 hour shift starting at noon tomorrow. I will be going to the Farmer's Market at 10 and really hoping that there is one more week of cherries to buy. Sunday is my next planned drinks day, and I have Monday the stat holiday off. Super excited to have all day shifts next week.

9/3 AF
Have a great weekend!6 -
September 1st bottle of wine split with water and 2.5 shots of gin with lemonade.
Not how I had planned to start this month but went nuts when I suddenly realised it was my day off the next day and the last chance to drink with the next day free before the kids go back to school.
Though I did realise it was also drinking for the sake of it.
I also did what I know is bad, started drinking at 10pm so didn't end up in bed until about 3:30.
So yes very tiered but I got up took 2 ibuprofen and got on with the day and actually threw myself in to a big laundry day and changed all the bedding on every bed.
I wasn't alone drinking though.
Oh and when I bought my wine I was very conscious of the % and got 11% not higher, which I would normally do.
August 29th AF
August 30th AF
Sept 1st wine&gin
Sept 2nd AF
Sept. 3rd AF8 -
@lilawolf omgosh don't you hate the waiting game? Try to keep busy through the weekend. Fingers crossed!
Yes, that mocktail was the bomb. I never shave ice, but that really was the allure of the beverage with the cold water droplets rolling down the sides(plus the chocolate drizzled rim). Last night I ordered myself 3 different Lyre's alcohol free bottles. Amaretto, Coffee and a rum flavor. These have been temporary out of stock for over a year. Last night I got the notification they are back so I hopped right to it. These should make some very excellent future mocktails.
@ToadstoolBetty 2 AF on either side of Sept 1st is a plus though. Good for you getting right back on track. I myself always cringe when I know I am going away to a hotel or resort that has an in house bar. The fact I would only have to walk to my room always left room for error on my part as to drinking to much.
Sept accountability:
AF

Sept 1: AF
Sept 2: AF; exercised with weights
Sept 3: 3; 50 min cycling, later drank since the rest of visiting family was over drinking too
Holiday weekend is here. Focus will be on the food, family, and stocking up on the Pellegrino.5 -
I survived day 1 of the fair! It was a hoot! Although I have a lot of free time in between giving breaks at the first part of my shift. I did not get home until about midnight. Most of the 'ticket' sellers come back every year. One gal was on year 25, another flew all the way from AZ just to work the fair for year 30. They are a bit disorganized but I expected that.
When I got home I did have 1 shot. I knew I need to sleep since I start early today and tomorrow. Then of course my sister calls me at 7am .....I did not answer, she calls again, I did not answer...one would think there is a reason I am not answering. Call three I pick up and say stop calling me at 7am I worked last night....oh yeah I forgot LOL
Got to love family!
@MissMay I want one of your mocktails they look so very very very very good. How do I find the ingredients you are using?7 -

Saturday September 04 - AF - I had an AF beer. These work great for me because I am not a beer drinker. I have experimented with mocktails, but I am a cocktail drinker so they just make me want the real thing. However, I would really like to try the stuff that @MissMay just found back in stock. A-Googling I go to see if I can get it here.
2 more weeks of cherries expected at the Farmer's Market : - ) That is basically what I eat all day at work, portable and yummy.
Rolling Total - 2AF days out of 4 days.4 -
@dawnbgethealthy OMG you can still get cherries at the farmers market??? They have to be from Mexico then. WA cherry season was done about mid July...made me so sad
Day 2 of fair fun....I am pooped...this will be a marathon for sure. Today 11am -11pm with 1 10 min breaks and 1 45 min lunch break. Rest of the time in a booth selling tickets for admission non stop with very few slow downs. But it was a Saturday and kids 18 and under were free. This may be the death of me yet and it is only day 2!
So I chose to have one drink tonight just to wind down and relax (excuses right?) but I am expected to pull 11 to 10pm tomorrow. I need to sleep.
Bad news last round of antibiotics even with 'the pink pill' did not ward off another case of thrush in my throat and mouth. So I am going to try to reach my ENT and leave them an email and see if they can send in a prescription while I am work. Hopefully since they know my history they can treat me without being seen. But with the labor day weekend, and my only days off are Tue and Wed < sigh> I may have to limp through this pain for a month or quit this job just to be seen at the office. What to do?6 -
Heavy drinker here, needing to quit for good as I know I can't drink in moderation. I've challenged myself to go alcohol free for September, so far it hasn't been too bad, first weekend survived! Had a big night out last weekend for my birthday and then wasted 2 days feeling crap and guilty so No More! I'm not going to continue to harm myself.

9/1 AF skipped my usual drinking day
9/2 A (4 drinks/5.3SD) free beers are the hardest to turn down
9/3 AF through an HH with coworkers! No appetizers either. Went home and made a healthy dinner and then got a run in 😇
9/4 AF. Went for a hike and then cleaned my house.
9/5 I'll be AF today unless my friend who just broke up with her live-in boyfriend crashes at my place... There will probably be wine in that case7 -
@dethstar77 I'm so happy for you!!!! What a turnaround. Truly, you did the hard work and I’m so glad things are looking up for you.
@MissMay sorry to hear your doggie is in hospice. Give him smooches and pets for me.
So… long weekends of fun activities leads to day drinking, which makes me tired. A drink while golfing, two Bon Viv’s on the boat yesterday. But I didn’t have the discipline to skip drinks at dinner. Not only that, I had two at dinner! Ugh. So both my drink numbers are past my limits, not to mention my weight.
Going to the pool with my sister and brother in law today, need to just stick to seltzer and cranberry!!!! I’d rather have a nice glass of wine with dinner.10 -
Sept 1-2 = AF
Sept 3-5= 3 glasses of wine each3 -

Plan AF at least tomorrow. Would also like to go AF after golf with gals on Tuesday. Not sure if I will succeed or not.6 -
2 glasses of wine this evening. DH and I've splitting one bottle and not opening a 2nd for all of September so far. So glad to not have a 2nd open bottle challenge.5

Sunday September 05 - AF - Planned drinks day, but skipped it. Next planned drinks day is Friday. I do plan on having drinks around my birthday on the 20th, where ever I end up going (I will have 3 days off)

Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear that it is back!! Yikes. Hopefully they will send in a prescription for you. Fingers crossed over here.
Cherries here are from Creston (about an hour southwest of here, a fruit belt). There are many booths at the Cranbrook Farmer's Market from Creston farms. Sounds like they expect to have 2 more weeks of Cherries still. The last week of August used to be the end of cherry season for here, the seasons have changed over the past 20 years.4 -
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. Yesterday only had one standard glass of wine with dinner. Glad to get that reined back in. Now for the food….
This has been a very activity-packed weekend for me. My son wants to play tennis with me later, but after that I think I’ll collapse into a heap! My recovery for fun, entertaining, big household chores and exercise is definitely longer than it was 25 years ago! Oy vey, feeling my age!!!5 -
Sept 1: AF
Sept 2: AF; exercised with weights
Sept 3: 3; 50 min cycling, later drank since the rest of visiting family was over drinking too
Sept 4: AF
Sept 5: 5; bottle of Pinot Grigio (labor day party...I drank half while cooking and it disappeared too quick)
Got news my very good friend passed away and I was not expecting this. Kinda going through a lot of emotions...part of me says you need to make every day special and the other part says I need to get really stern with myself and stick to the healthiest plans possible and I shouldn't be gambling with my life.
Note to self: Every day counts...make it special...make it happy...make good healthy decisions as much as possible.....appreciate yourself and others10 -

Global hiker I am so sorry for your loss. I went to a memorial yesterday for a friend who died of COVID. When I got home from memorial I realized every day was a blessing. Every day I have! I have to make healthy decisions. I blew it Saturday night and was only to have two drinks and I had 4 ! Failure! I realized yesterday I can't do this. I felt so sick all day and depressed! Today I am on Day two. Thank you for your post...a good reminder.

Thought I had got through the weekend AF but nope, had to take a load of stuff to the dump yesterday and as it was a sunny day and we were hot and tired we decided to stop at the pub for a drink. There was an elvis impersonator and a charity yard of ale competition going on, big crowd and a great atmosphere so our quiet drink turned into a bit of a session. 3 pints later we left and picked up kebabs for dinner then the whiskey and coke came out so suffice to say I'm feeling pretty rotten today. OK, I will keep trying...

@globalhiker im so sorry for your loss!!! That’s terrible news. Big hug. I’ll keep you ans her family in my prayers.2

Took a single sip out of DH's wine glass this evening. Nice red Pinot but not in my plans for today. AF this evening.

@globalhiker - I hope that you will have the chance to enjoy the memories of your friend and your time together with others. ((HUGS))5
