Less Alcohol ~ SEPTEMBER 2021 ~ One Day At A Time

We brought no wine to the camp this weekend ... but mom brought over a bottle to go with the boiled shrimp, port sault cheese, crackers and grapes that I served for dinner after fishing this evening. So 1 bottle for the 3 of us.
2 glasses of wine for my count this evening.
Oh and I caught a 21.5" and 23" redfish this evening so fish tacos for lunch tomorrow!
September accountability: 4/10 days AF
Alcohol: 6 days (11 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.6 -
My Lyers non alcoholic spirits arrived Friday. They left out the coffee liquor (😡) the one I really wanted. But I did try the other two. Rum and amaretto.
OMG they are wonderful. The taste ( to me) is lovely. Yea expensive, but the DH bought them for me for an early bday gift.
They will go with me on a little road trip next week out of state. Have to pick up a new special stemmed glass to enjoy them in style.
AF as AF still in September.
Alcohol right now in my life would be a dangerous thing to turn too for comfort.

I am continuing with my usual goals, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 18 last month, I have had as much as 23 a few times.
Being here with y'all gives me the accountability that I need and want.
I was a daily drinker at one time, and gradually moved it to my current goal which I have been able to uphold for quite some time.
I have no intention of becoming an abstainer. I enjoy my drinks, just less often, kind of like I have done with certain fattening foods.
I do plan my drinks days for the most part, but usually it is my schedule that dictates that. Trying not to have drinks when I work the following day.
Diary style is how I like to keep track here.
Sunday September 05 - AF - Planned drinks day, but skipped it. Next planned drinks day is Friday. I do plan on having drinks around my birthday on the 20th, where ever I end up going (I will have 3 days off)
Monday September 06 - AF - Had to do the 6 minute wait a couple of times, but stayed AF.
Tuesday September 07 - AF - Super long day, felt like having a couple of drinks, but I have a long day again tomorrow, so won't.
Wednesday September 08 - AF - Another long day, today, I was almost too tired to eat, much less make a cocktail.
Thursday September 09 - AF - Busy and long work day, felt like having a couple of drinks, but tomorrow is my planned drinks day, so I didn't.
Friday September 10 - Drinks. It was sunny in the morning before I went to work, but overcast when I was unwinding in the evening, so I changed my drink choices, no Mojitos, those are a sunny day drink. I don't yet know if I am working tomorrow or not, so there is the possibility of drinks this afternoon.

Welcome @LeeshaSeal we are happy to have you joining us.
Sorry for the delayed HELLO.
Lots of inspiring stories on this thread.5 -
@MissMay - Happy early birthday! The Lyre's non-alcoholic spirits look like a fun option. I imagine that you can get quite creative!
This evening I'm drinking Heineken 00. Trying to get at least 1 night AF at the camp ... even though it is steak night

I am most likely not going to make my goals this month. I ended up having drinks most of the holiday weekend but things are improving now.
Tonight I made the Blender Coconut Daiquiri mocktail. Blend the following ingredients together:
1 banana
2 cups unsweetened coconut milk
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
rum extract
6 ice cubes
We could only find unsweetened vanilla coconut milk and none of the stores we shop at had rum extract. That didn't seem to make much difference to the flavor. The lime juice is what gives it the daiquiri vibe (sort of). However the proportions were off because it was pretty watery. My partner suggested adding some of the banana protein powder he had so I did. It worked and it was pretty tasty in the end. Didn't really feel like a m/cocktail though.

Thank you for the recipe and the delicious looking photo. Oh by the way.....I have rum extract. LOL we should meet in the middle and drink mocktails.
Goals can be switched for your month. Not to worry. It is the awareness of how much you are consuming and being accountable. 😊

Thank you @Lilylady3k, it is still 3 weeks away until my birthday. At least this year I got what I really can use.
Your fishing at the camp sounds wonderful. Love that you are consuming what you catch. 🐟
I made a dark kane(rum) and iced tea drink last evening out of the LYRE'S. I used to make this with real booze years ago and could/would drink the entire bottle (750ml) in one - two evenings.
Last night I had a few sips and covered the glass and put it into the frig for maybe consuming tonight. This is because my drinking buddy on my shoulders was NOT influenced by alcohol content. So I wasn't being pushed into my first drink, taking a drink....then that drink, taking more drinks.
I like this person I have become. Working it out at my own pace and making the right choices.
With our get away coming up though next week, my husband keeps saying to let my hair down and relax, drink what ever I want because we are on holiday. He still does not " get it" and I doubt he ever will.
September's accountability:
11 days AF7 -
9/8-2
9/9-AF
9/10-AF
9/11-5- eek- I bought little 99 cent whiskeys thinking my husband would like them but I decided to try one with juice and kept going until all 5 were gone. Bad move again! Got on the scale and up 1 lb. since yesterday.
When will I learn???
Today there is no booze in the house. I am laying low and working on trip planning which always lifts my spirits7 -

Thank you @lilawolf big time -for your inspirational post. And a reference to running...a strong reminder and key element to my happiness that has been missing. Where is your picture taken? Beautiful scenery. What location?
@Lilylady3k the Zebra drink looks cool..I will have to see if I can locate it near me Calories diluted with seltzer will be less than the wine and better for the body, so a win-win and nice idea6 -
Went over my drinking goals this weekend, plus I had a glass of wine every day last week. At least two drinks every day since Thursday. I’m going to have a very busy week at work this week, so the temptation to unwind with a glass of wine is strong. But, when I go AF during the week, miraculously my weight goes down! It was up all last week. So that’s good incentive to back down the drinking!6

Wow so much going on! @MissMay you have made me want to go looking for Lyre's, I think they have it at our local Total Wine and More. I will have to go look on my day off.
Working the fair is eye opening, and mentally taxing at time. Who knew? Selling admission tickets is really a no brainier job, however....people patience is. LOL don't get me wrong it is fun.
I am aware that when I get home in the evening I am allowing myself one shot of alcohol. But that is all, the drink does not get to take a drink.
I am going to try and capture a good picture of the feel you get when you attend the fair and post it for you. It has something for everyone. From the 4-H animals (btw mama pig had her piglets two days ago---a tradition there to have a sow give birth for all to see). To farm displays of goods raised. To every ride you can think of, games, concerts (Carrie Underwood was here on Saturday) and of course the vendors selling food and wares.
I asked the man who keeps count of attendance what was the Saturday count since it was really busy....oh over 65,000 people came through the turnstiles. Anyway I will check back in when I can. You all inspire me!4 -

@Womona thanks
@lmlmrn Do they induce her? Getting her to give birth during the day, during the fair seems like it would be difficult otherwise.
Got up early and got another short run in. Really didn't have much in the tank but still glad I did it. Also, left my kayak strapped up yesterday so that I could go after work today. Probably won't manage more than an hour or so before dark, but should be lovely watching the sunset from the water. I suspect that tomorrow will be a rest day. Alcohol continues to not really be a temptation. The ~6lb weightloss over the last 4 weeks helps and so does not having my best friends around as sad as that is.4 -
September accountability:
1 Sept – 13 Sept - AF

I bought myself a bottle of AF sparkling blush so going to try that soon. Fingers crossed it tastes good because I love rose and haven't managed to find a good one yet.6 -

No, the farmers are aware of the dates of the fair and I have no idea if they actually plan the pregnancy or not their animal would be due in that time frame. She is kept very comfortable and monitored closely.6 -
This I will never cut back on........
AF last night with 1 Heinekin00
