Michele - I’ve seen your Snow White and 7 dwarves. I think you do a lot of detailed work. 🙂 I like the pencil mark idea though. I’m enjoying these classes but the owner doesn’t do much teaching. I’m really not sure why she charges so much for them.
Our dollar stores sell individual cups like you are looking for.
Terri - I see your Michaela is spelt the proper way. When our daughter named our Michaela one of our nieces said it wasn’t correct it should be Mikayla. We shook our heads. Michaela’s mom’s name we spelt Lauryn because my husband had to correct people how to spell his name so thought he would pass on the tradition. His name is Rodger.
Lisa - my Grandson loves Nailed It on Netflix. He has a wonderful sense of humour.
Thank you for the compliments on the ornaments. It’s nice seeing you back more regularly.
Pip - great photo of Yogi.
I read Grammie’s 1981 diary last evening. It was a tough read as her only brother passed. He lived in the house on the “homestead” as a bachelor all of his life. Her eldest sister and their eldest nephew were the executors of the estate but the sister turned it over to her shortly after his passing. It was a task she did not want, but felt obliged to take. It was still not all settled and the house not sold at the end of the year. At one point she was willing to let the house and all the land go for 20K just to be rid of it. The couple couldn’t get the money together.
It’s like a novel, I need to see what happens next. I do know the house sold and is still standing.
I have my pedicure appointment at 1 today so will take our Grandson home and then go to it.

Hi Gals,
Michele – if you have a restaurant supply shop near you they should carry the individual cups, and they are open to the public, with pretty good pricing – at least here in N. California.
Bees – in California it is illegal to hurt a “managed” hive but a wild swarm can either be gathered by a bee keeper or if in the walls or roof of a building eliminated. But in most cases if you call a bee keeper or the bee keeping association they will come and get it. You then have to pay the repair costs to have the building restored. The ground dwelling “bees” are in my area – mostly a variety of wasp, that is not native and having them eliminated aka killed is supportive to our native honey bee population.

Bees i leave them alone for the most part, but have a story for you all. A couple days ago as I was talking to camper, I got stung in my right ring finger. You see, I have a bad habit of talking with my hands to express myself and I swung my hand into a bee without knowing it! 😳 I thought it was a mosquito until I swayed the body off on instinct and saw the head sticking out of my finger. At least I’m not allergic and only had an itchy finger for a day. 🙄
I found this company online that sells misfit/ugly organic veggies. They try to save organic items to sell instead of them being trashed. Having used them for a couple months now I can vote on them. They are awesome! You choose what you want each week ( or skip) with a $30 minimum. Comes in 3 days later very well packed with ice packs if needed, nothing smashed or mashed and in good shape! Message me if you want the link. Helps environment, prevents food waste, and I get to afford healthier food. I found a couple items they sell at Walmart and Walmart was more expensive.
Gotta go do camper chores.
Laters ladies!

Tracey ... no the interview is not related to my son's music degree ... far from it. But it's a job and he's excited by it.
Bees ... I suspect Michele was not referring to honey bees.
Shopping went about as poorly as I suspected it would and was compounded by stores having limited stock. We managed to pull together something for his second interview tomorrow. I pulled out all of my mom psychology yesterday. Full blown anxiety is awful to watch.
Today we are just taking it easy. Our hometown football team is not playing. Husband is in charge of dinner. I'll do some ironing for my son.
Beth near Buffalo5 -
it is POURING here still with bigger storms hitting later tonight and tomorrow. 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches of rain just north of us- haven't seen the totals for our immediate area yet. The big concern is the landslides in the fire damaged areas. They are calling it an "atmospheric river"
Husband is gone for the day, won't be home until really late tonight.
I have a little computer work to do and then fun things like clean out the two fridges-they are too full to put anything in them.
I want to try a new recipe for cheese bread. I found it on FB, shared with former hubby- he tried it and said it was very good and very easy. Like Red Lobster biscuits- just added some garlic to it.
If the rain stops for a little bit later this afternoon- need to hem some scrub pants for her.
Will do some more cooking- saute onions and peppers for fajita quesidillas for dh and his mom- I don't like them but they do and I have veggies that need to be used up.
Listening to church now. Hope to be back IN church sometime soon.
Around here- honey bees are welcomed by everyone with many beekeepers that will come get swarms for free.
It is the yellow jackets/wasps that are NOT welcome-those are very aggressive and will sting without being provoked. That is what gets them sprayed.

Sitting in airport waiting for flight to Seattle. I will be very glad to get home. Funeral went well, pastor was excellent. He was new at the church and really did not know my mom well but did a good job all the same. The release of the doves was intetesting and turned out better than I expected. No arguments among family. I spent the evening yesterday after the funeral with my son and DGS. We had a nice dinner and son dropped us off at SAC this morning for our flights. DD sent me a picture of my sad dog last night so I am sure she will be happy to see me this afternoon. Another 1/2 hour until I board. Ýeah!
Everyone take care, Sue in WA9 -
((( Sue ))) - So sorry for the loss of your mom. It is good to know that the service went well. I hope your flight home goes smoothly. ❤️

Love that perspective - sometimes we use familiar phrases and don't look at the underlying premise. But then, when I'm with y'all, all perspectives are available on the spectrum from the optimist to the pessimist.
Rebecca
You look so much like your beautiful mother! I continue to hope that your youngest will understand that he needs to reach out. And like you, anytime I put a roast in the oven or in the crockpot, there's a veggie underneath. Potatoes that cook in the juices from the roast look very dark, but taste like heaven. And, super easy. Every photo of Athena is a good one.
Beth
Hope your son's interview went really well.
Tracey
I swear, I've watched every food competition that is available on Prime, Netflix, Discovery+, and anything else I can find access to. Can't watch Top Chef or anything Gordon Ramsay does, though, as they make me tense--too much drama. Especially love the Great British Baking Show; it's so much less cutthroat than most of the American competitions. Love the ornaments you're creating, love all the pictures of your grands.
Michele
Hope the cut wasn't too serious!
Machka
Your profile picture is wonderful.
Nothing much planned for today--I try to make sure I don't plan things for the weekend, as my husband genuinely prefers to simply be home. He has a tough physical job, and the weekends are his time to relax. I do my best to make sure he can, other than the grocery shopping on Saturday morning.
Egg, on the other hand, apparently thinks I'm up to no good. I was emptying the dryer and folding clothes in the laundry room, and she came to the door, sat down, and glared at me, seriously, for ten minutes straight. When I get up again, I'll check her food and water. Cranky little kitty.
Achy and uncomfortable this morning, but this too, shall pass.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
Awe, thank you. You know when I went in August to visit my eldest sister Pam, I decided one night to make her dinner. So it was just some sausages and hash brown potatoes, and scrambled eggs. So I was flitting here and there because its not always the easiest to cook in someone else's kitchen and she started getting teary over on the couch. She said, " you just look so much like Mom"! What a comfort this is to hear! She was really tired, and was just going to have cereal, so I was like...you need a hot meal. It was also the fact that someone was doing for her, something that doesn't happen very often. I wish I lived closer to her and could pamper her more often!
I got a card for youngest son, and my eldest son here wrote a nice letter enclosed were some stickers to put on his laptop, or car. It was sweet. Granted I gave him the paper and told him to, but still he did it without prompting. I know I know, he's a grown *kitten* man, but I still cater to him a wee bit. We don't do much on the weekends either, poor son has a physically demanding job as well, so he pretty much sleeps until 1 or 2 pm. We try to keep a fairly quiet house, don't do laundry until we hear him in the shower, etc. So no wild sexual escapades! *snorts*😂😂

Last weekend when I was with mom I made sure to cook all the meals(I always do) and she was so appreciative of every one, especially the dinner Sunday night. I roasted two chickens(we got them at food program so I cooked her's and mine, and brought mine home). Steamed some broccoli she had picked the day before, a green salad and a couple baked potatoes to share with my friend that was out helping us pick the tomatoes. Mom can't eat many things right now- on an anti-inflamitory diet so no tomatoes/potatoes/peppers/dairy/caffeine/sugar/grains/.....
So I made a nice comforting meal for us after a very long day working in the garden until it was raining too much to pick any more.
Meals don't have to be fancy, they just need to be made with love and others will enjoy them
I love cooking, especially when it is appreciated. To be able to do that for mom makes me feel so good. Need to go up more often and do it for her. And to make sure I clean up after my self-(something my sister never did- cooked a lot for clients but then left the dishes for mom- sometimes there was left overs for mom, sometimes not)4 -
Rebecca – We all need to vent now and then. You have good reasons. :flowerforyou: Your cooking undoubtedly keeps your menfolk happy at home. Beef and rice stew sounds divine.
Beth – Fingers crossed for your son. I hope his interview went very well.
Rita – Congrats on subbing! I hope you will enjoy it and get repeat calls. Knowing the school & kids is a huge asset. I started my teaching career as a volunteer mom at my own children’s elementary school. It opened a door for me. I went back to college to renew my teaching certificate. I taught in several elementary schools & I retired as an 8th grade social studies teacher. I enjoyed my fellow teachers and students.
Pip – I love the photo of your dogs. It looks like Yogi was the puppy in the group.
Allie – We have two grocery stores in town that will take your order and bring it to the car for you. Several people we know use this service. I prefer to go in to the stores and make my own choices. DH & I always wear our masks in public. Our Walmart is smaller than any other I’ve been in. They do not have fresh produce available. :ohwell: I hope you are able to stay warm enough to be comfortable.
Machka – Thanks for the bee information. DH & I cherish our honey bees, and plant things they will enjoy. We do not appreciate yellow jackets. :noway: A colony of them tried to nest in our garage attic. We blocked the crack they were coming in. That was a few years ago and we haven’t had yellow jacket trouble since then. Honey bees visit our flowers and we cherish them. Fall weather changes have sent the bees to safety.
Barbie – Enjoy your dog walking time with your Sunday walking friend. I miss our sweet old dog like crazy. He was a great companion and a big loss. We hope to adopt a new pup after New Years. It is a long time to wait but walking a new pup will be fun.
Heather – Lovely that you were able to walk with your DH and enjoy the khaki color of the waves.
I’m having a lovely and cozy morning watching the weather and sitting with DH.

I am back... It's been a while. I've had a lot of changes since I was last part of this group. My dad was ill so I had no spare time for it. After he passed with all the turmoil of selling his house etc, then moved house myself to a house I inherited from an uncle, lots of work with renovations and a large garden to tame.
In April I decided that I needed to lose weight again but somehow MFP wouldn't log me in again. So happy I've finally managed to start logging again, I don't know what I did for it to finally work 😂 , but I'm not complaining. Since April I've lost 15kg. Happy with that. Hoping that being part of this group again will encourage me to carry on.
My husband walked out while I was at work one Thursday in June, no discussion, just a fait accompli. He went back to our old house that we were doing up to rent out. It was a shock.
It's now just me and the dogs. We're doing ok. I love my new house and large garden. It's in a Close of 14 houses rather than the main road we used to be on. So much quieter and friendlier.
I'm looking forward to catching up with the members of this group again.

Family drama, skip if you like.My soldier daughter is in the middle of a problem (can't share in this venue), and it's just awful that I can't go up to Kansas and help. I still can't even lift anything over ten pounds, or drive more than a half-hour. Not an option with three kids, I'd be a burden she does not need. All I can do is be a listening ear. Unfortunately, it could be a career-ending problem.
This is the second time - 8 years ago, when her first husband was stationed in Afghanistan, she ran off the road in Germany and hit a tree with her car. She had her three-month-old son in the backseat, and there was some talk of discharge then.
*sigh*
Just got the son settled down into his relationship with the broken girl (mental, I think - she has 100% disability from the Navy, and he's at 90% from the Air Force.) Match made in heaven. He seems happy, and he's a grown-a$s man, so more power to him. He just messaged me that he and the girlfriend are adopting a Jack Russell puppy this weekend. I did not react in any way, other than saying "Cool! The little ones are fun." Of course, with neither one of them gainfully employed, they have plenty of time to work with it.
Anyway, now my daughter's cheese is trying to slide off her cracker, and I can't be there to help. Lordie, if it isn't one child, it's the other one. They're making me age by the minute. I think I just saw an age spot appear on my arm, and my arthritis is flaring...
Corey and I are doing fine. He's having sausage and beans for dinner and I'm not. I'll scrounge up something...
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa8 -

What an Afternoon we had ,absolutely stunning fall weather, we had pictures professionally taken at an estuary down in Old Lyme, then went to Essex ,Susan and Trudy went into a shop i stayed in the car ,we drove through Some small towns down near the shoreline and went to a pizza place in Chester where Trudy and Susan both used to live.. shared a small pizza and a fennel salad ,then walked to a couple shops, we road the ferry across the river and drove through Gillettes castle and dropped Susan off to meet her friend as she was going to have dinner and see a show at the Goodspeed Opera house.. and we drove home, happy and exhausted.. im in jammies and hopefully will sleep well tonight..
Lisa- sorry to hear your daughter is having troubles its so hard to see your kids having issues that you cant help solve..
Its only 5:30 pm here and im hoping I can stay awake for awhile lol2 -
Hi dear MFP wise women,
I am new to this community. I seen many of us are going through big life changes and pushing through the pandemic and everything else going on in the world around us takes a lot of energy and courage . I retired recently and moved from the Midwest to the mountain west to be closer to family who themselves have undergone some serious losses and challenges.
I really need to do radical self care and take care of my aging issues especially my cardiovascular conditions and
so here I am needing to lose 20-30
pounds as medically recommended— yes I could lose more but this is my minimum and will make a big difference.
Looks like there’s a lot of love and encouragement here so maybe it will help me and I hope I can contribute in a modest way to others progress and success.
Anyway thank you for reading this somewhat awkward introduction and I look forward to learning and progressing with everyone here. We all deserve to live our best life so we can do what is important to us and help our families and communities as well.
Take good care,

Oh yes ... wasps are a whole different matter!

I walked in the dark and drizzle with the dogs this morning but had to cancel the 9:30 walk with my Sunday friend because of high winds and rain. It's going to be a challenge to get to 10,000 steps today.
Barbie in NW WA4 -
Did the rest of the Toning Transformation DVD then went for a walk. Work tomorrow and at night ceramics. Depending how much Halloween decorations we get out today will determine if I have enough time for a walk tomorrow.
M – Vince sprayed Wasp and Hornet killer on the bees (or I should say what we thought was a nest in the ground). The landscaper told us that this would work in addition to putting gasoline in the hole. But we didn’t see any come out of the hole so I’m thinking the nest was in one of the bushes they removed. These were real small bees
Made soup for me for another day. The main reason I made it was because I wanted to get the head of cabbage out of the refrigerator. Now to figure out where in the freezer the soup will go!
Terri – so glad you didn’t have any effects from the shot. The only effect Vince and I had was a sore arm. That I can live with
Julie – I don’t think the cut is serious, thanks for your concern. The liquid bandage seems to be working.
Boo...it’s getting cooler when I take my walks. Oh well...the warmth will be here (but not too soon for me)
Tracey – I would never in a million years thought to look at a dollar store for the cups! Thanks for the idea
Kim – the nearest restaurant supply store is in Charlotte. I’ve checked for the filters for my 25 cup coffee maker. Fortunately, I still have a few. Charlotte is about an hour away.
Beth – right you are. No, I wasn’t referring to honey bees. These kind that live in the ground and are very, very small. Even the landscaper agrees that they’re more of a nuisance than anything else.
Katla – you’re not missing anything by your WalMart not carrying produce. Their produce is never that good. At least not the one by me.
Maryann UK – Welcome back! I’m so sorry for everything you’ve been thru
Lisa – Clairol to the rescue!!! I do hope things work out for your daughter
Michaela – welcome!
Off to take a shower. Finished the outdoor Halloween decorations. So glad for such beautiful weather. In the 70’s each day. Hope it is this way for Friday.

Cooking for family is the one thing that is purely your time, and I know when I make brownies for youngest son I try to stir as much love in them as I can! Regarding my sisters visit, I tried to clean up as much as she'd let me. It was hard because she doesn't have a dishwasher yet, and I wasn't sure where things went. Hard to wash dishes when the dryer area was full of clean ones. I'd rather sit with her than deal with dishes anyway.💖👍

Tonight was ramen made with my signature chicken broth, threw in soy sauce, sesame oil, and a squirt of wasabi paste. Then just shredded some chicken as well. That was for eldest son, Lee had a TV dinner as he isn't keen on ramen. I had some of the soup part, with chicken and some white beans I had.
I try.💖👍
My eldest sons letter to his brother was so sweet. I hope he answers us all back!

Michaela_LaGata, welcome, this is a great band of ladies, we have all been together for some time, but always liking new members! Many talk of things other than weightloss, but we steer away from politics and religion💖👍. Where are you from? I am from Whidbey island in the Puget Sound in Washington State. Husband of 37 years and I rent a house with our active duty Navy son, we're retired Navy. I have one married, veteran son in Vancouver WA, and our youngest active duty Navy son is stationed in Japan. We are both retired and kind of fiddle-fart thru life.🙃😁💖
