@deepwoodslady - I'm so glad that you are able to work with your physicians to address all these issues! You are a fighter and will win the battle over diabetes, thyroid, sodium level, & LDL cholesterol just like you have with that darn cancer! Do you have one of those diabetes patches to monitor your sugar level? My exercise instructor (age 70 with diabetes but still manages to teach class 6x per week swears by hers).
Wishing you some well-deserved good days to make up for all the crummy ones lately.

@Lilylady3k No I have never even heard of the patches. It has been 12 years since I last saw a diabetic specialist. My PCP has been handling it but is cooperating in turning it over to an endocrinologist as soon as we can find one! In this rural area we have none. I don't mind traveling the 100 or more miles I do for other things, but they have to take my insurance and that is proving to be an issue. There was one about 45 miles away but the office closed due to the inability to get employees. In the meantime, she will add some medication. I am so looking forward to finding an endo and seeing all the newest treatments and monitoring systems that are out there. Thanks for sharing the info. My PCP will only go so far with the diabetes (keep me safe), but I will look into it.

Starting Weight (from Oct 31st): 188.2
    Goal: 183.2 (Five lb Loss)
    Actual Loss for November: xxxxx

**************************************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME************************************

11/01…...189.4…..(Trend Weight 187.7)….. Pizza, Candy and all things Halloween. Not good.

11/02.…..189.0…..(Trend Weight 187.8)….. Scale down, trend up and that is something to work on! With all the medical travel and surgery behind me, I hope to start seeing more willpower and weight loss in my November.

11/03.…..189.0…..(Trend Weight 187.9}….. Good news from the University Hospital. No sign of any cancer in the lumpectomy. Yay! Feeling wonderful today and filled with hope for the future. Today is my daughter’s birthday who lives with me again. There will be cake, ice cream and a special dinner. The calories and carbs will be out the window, but I will still practice portion control and look brightly to my days ahead and my future overall. God is Good.

11/04.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 188.1)….. Okay. The celebrations are all over. Today I will pawn the leftovers off on my workers and make a good dietary plan regardless of what the others in the house do. Today I take my grandsons to their hair appointments. I always get them lunch or dinner afterward (dinner today because it’s a school day). I will not be ordering for myself. Getting serious here . I need a good streak!

11/05.…..188.8…..(Trend Weight 188.2)….. I was much more mindful of my diet yesterday, as planned. Not a lot of exercise or water due to being extra busy. However, my trend weight is still going up due to my choices over the past two weeks. Time to turn that around too. Mini-goal, get that trend weight turning in the opposite direction!

    11/06.…..188.0…..(Trend Weight 188.2)….. Progress!

11/07.…..189.0…..(Trend Weight 188.2)….. A day very similar to yesterday but with no TMI, I am showing the expected gain. It’s disheartening but all part of the journey. Raking today should bring in more steps and calorie burn. I want to focus on a very healthy dinner tonight again too even though it is daughter’s day off and she is a foodie.

11/08.…..189.2…..(Trend Weight 188.2)…..I burned over 700 calories just on yard raking yesterday but clearly, you can’t outrun the fork!

11/09.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 188.4)….. No TMI again. Very early weigh-in after, essentially, no sleep and all those other excuses. Yesterday it was not on my daughter. It was on me. I know what good habits are. I know what low calorie is and what low carb can do to help me. I recognize the right foods. It’s time to stop glancing at it all and start staring at what I need to do. It has been out of control since just before my surgery.

11/10.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 188.6)….. bingeing is not the way to lose weight. I’ve got to get control here!

11/11.…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 188.6)….. I hate the new format. Very boring to look at and does not promote the want to use. If my vote counts, I vote no!

11/12.…..189.4…..(Trend Weight 188.8)….. Still navigating the new format and still hating it. Dr. appointment yesterday revealed that I will need to see a cardiologist after I failed the two pre-op EKG’s. I also will need to see an endocronologist for my T2D. Time to get serious about my diet and exercise plans again!

    11/13.…..189.2…..(Trend Weight 189.0)…..Traveling today.

11/14.…..191.0…..(Trend Weight 189.2)….. Traveled yesterday. Weight showed up from dinner out and lots of car driving (inactivity). I’ll work it off today as much as possible. Obviously I am disappointed that one meal would make such a negative difference.
    11/15……191.0…..(Trend Weight 189.3)…..

11/16……189.6…..(Trend Weight 189.4)….. Meals were perfectly on point yesterday although exercise level was low. So happy for this drop. I snuck into DGS Halloween basket last night. That needs to no become a habit.

11/17.…..189.8…..(Trend Weight 189.4)….. Epic Fail. I made a big dinner for the entire crew last night that is doing my home renovations. It was healthy but a little too hardy since I ate too much! Back at it today.

11/18.…..190.8…..(Trend Weight 189.8)….. Travel yesterday was unexpected and I didn’t get home until 8:30 PM. Only slightly over 5000 steps, not enough water, lots of sitting in car and restaurant for late lunch/dinner. I’m surprised scale isn’t up more so I’m nervous that a bigger number will pop up in the coming days (right before Thanksgiving ugh!). Pushing water today.

@deepwoodslady - Definitely a good idea and will help you monitor as well as trend your blood sugar using a patch for blood-free readings ... no pricking the finger. She has a patch on the back of her arm there are others that go on your abdomen.
"Continuous glucose monitoring systems. With this system, you stick a sensor on your skin. Then you use a device that works with it -- in some cases, your smartphone -- to scan it. The sensor shows information about your blood sugar, including your daily level patterns. It doesn't deliver medication, but you need a prescription to get one."

    Oct Start Weight 190 ish
    Oct Goal Weight 180

    Nov Start weight: 181.8
    Nov Goal weight: 173

Nov 1: DNW - Morning got away from me, and yesterday was a terrible day. Totally blaming TOM.
Nov 2: 181.0 - Ok with this. Not my low, but down from Sunday.
Nov 3: 180.4 - working my way back down, bye-bye bloat...
    Nov 4: 178.8 - Back on track
Nov 5: 180.2 - Big dinner, not real gain just a bunch of stuff hanging around...
Nov 6: 179.6 - silly yo-yo of weight loss, but my trend is definitely down. Funny how a single meal can add temporary weight…
    Nov 7: 178.8 - working on it…
Nov 8: 178.8 - No change is good considering I ate close to my limit yesterday.
Nov 9: 178.6 - Minimal change, but in the right direction
Nov 10: 177.4 - That makes me feel better, my low day is usually on Thursday, but with pizza for lunch today, I'm not counting on it.
Nov 11: 178.2 - I posted this already, but it took me a while to figure out how to post it with the rest of my info...
Nov 12: 178.0 - I'm amazed that the scale showed a drop after date night. I ate a huge dinner with appetizers, drinks and dessert. I did stay within my calorie allotment, but usually a late large dinner gives me a gain.
Nov 13: DNW was out of town
Nov 14: 177 surprised to see a drop after the weekend, but happy.
Nov 15: 179.0 This is more like what I expected after the weekend, must have been dehydrated yesterday morning. That and I had a migraine which meant I was slug like yesterday. I think all I did was eat and sleep. Feeling better today.
Nov 16: 178.2 - Working my way back to where I was last week, but that's ok with a long weekend away.

Nov 17: 176.4 - Below my trend line, but nice to see. Gives me hope that I might reach my goal this month. Well if it weren't for Thanksgiving. Even eating in moderation on turkey day will be a lot of food... I mean I will have pie.

Nov 18:175.4 - Didn't exercise yesterday as planned but otherwise a good day.

Nov 19: 174.6 - Skipped date night yesterday, which means I saw a loss today instead of my normal Friday gain. Funny how beer and hamburgers will do that to a person.

Nov 20: 175.0 - normal fluctuation. Good day yesterday even got to have pizza.

    Hello again, everyone!!
My name is Ana. Some months after my husband passed away I was at my highest weight (180 lbs). Using MFP I was able to get back to a healthy weight through diet and exercise and I kept it off for years. Unfortunately, the pandemic has messed me up in many, profound ways that led to a Dr's visit on June 16th where I learned that I was back up to 156.4 lb. I am back to the MFP community to make myself accountable for my own health.

    Highest Weight 2011: 180 lbs
    2021 Highest (June): 156.4 lbs
    November Start: 138.4
Ultimate goal: Be fit and at a healthy weight.

November Goal: My goal thus far has been to diet and exercise until I've reached and maintained 121 lb by the end of July of 2022. However, after deep reflection-and with some fear-, I've decided that for this month, my goal will be SELF LOVE and COMPASSION. This month:

    1. I will NOT weigh myself weekly
    2. I will exercise 4/5x a week to tone muscle
    3. I will keep track of calories to maintain

11/06: Weekly goal accomplished-ish? After deep thought, I decided that SELF-LOVE and COMPASSION will be my healthiest and hardest goal for the month and I want to stick to it with the same fierceness that I did when my goal was to shed weight.
I planned my meals, tracked calories and listened to my satiety cues. I ate treats that were somewhat wholesome and nutritious so I don't feel guilty. I didn't formally exercise but walked to work 4x even though it was very cold. I listened to my body's need to sleep over my anxiety to workout every morning.
I struggle with fear that I will gain back weight if I go back to consuming enough calories to maintain. I struggle with the need to explain my decisions and I don't know if I'm trying to convince myself that it's the right choice, or if I'm explaining myself to others to not be judged. I'm working on it.

11/13 I didn't check in but tried my best to keep track of calories. I wasn't the best at exercising since it was almost a week off of work for me. Still, I think I did okay. I tried to really rest and spent time doing things that I like.

11/20 I noticed that now that I am eating a normal amount of calories my body-or mind?-starts asking me for more. I want treats at night and I have to confess that I've fallen victim of leftover Halloween junk food in the form of Cheetos and Snickers; however, I've tried to eat the preportioned packages and fun/bite size only. I'm planning on distributing all of my stash inside Christmas presents (is that genius, or evil? 🤔)
Still, I'm not freaking out. I was, but I'm not right now. Even though I planned on not doing it, I had to get weighed at the Dr's office last Wednesday and it looked like there's not much damage done. In a way it was freeing to my spirit to see that my fears (11/06) were unfounded.
I have continued to exercise and have taken breaks from it as well. I continue to struggle with fear that letting myself rest will lead to let myself go again. It's a delicate balance that I've failed to address before but I'm working on it.
I will weigh myself at the end of the month (tricky, since Thanksgiving is so near), and if it's working out, I'll continue with the same plan for December.

I hope that we all feel proud to be invested in our health, with all the ups and downs that weight loss brings about. Love to everyone! 💖

    -A

    Goals of the week:
    1. Plan scrumptious, filling, nutritious meals
    2. Listen to my satiety cues
    3. Sleep at least 7 hrs every night
    4. Continue morning exercise 4-5x/week
    5. Continue walking to work 3-4x/week

    REMINDER TO SELF:
    Highest Weight, 2011: 180 lbs
    MFP Start: 175 lbs
2021 LOSS: 19.8 lbs/5mo. I had no idea. So proud!!

    June Start/End: 156.4 / 151.8 (- 4.6)
    July Start/End: 151.8 / 148.4 (- 3.4)
    August Start/End: 150.2 / 146.4 (- 3.8)
    September Start/End: 141.2 lbs (- 5.2)
    October Start/End: 141.2 / 138.4 (-2.8)
    November Start/End: 138.4 /

    I am Dawn. 61 years old, 5'2"

MFP start weight 191, October 28.18

I have gained quite a bit over the last few months, time to turn that around.

Setting an aggressive Goal weight for November.

    11/01 - 137.1
11/02 - 136.4 - Had a beautiful rare striploin and blackened prawns for dinner, Kanjac angel hair with fresh garlic, parmesan, and sour cream to accompany it. I ate half of all of it. Felt full for the first time in quite a while. Beef and prawns...I don't eat very often, must have needed the protein. I guess that I will be having it again tonight.
11/03 - 135.6 - Happy to see this coming down. Late dinners are becoming the norm because of my work schedule over the last few months and months to come. Maybe my body is getting used to it.
11/04 - 135.3 - I feel like Tina and I have been so close in weight whether we were gaining or losing. Of course she is 4" taller than me.
11/05 - 135.0 - Put on 4 pounds in one day on Thanksgiving, will it be 4 months to take off one day of delicious eating? I want this to be sustainable, I want to be able to eat fattening food here and there.
    11/06 - 136.5 - Argh
11/07 - 137.5 - Lots of activity and healthy food. Totally don't understand this gain. Disheartening.
11/08 - 136.9 - Okay, better than yesterday, but still way too high. My check-in on MFP and pedometre are still at 130.6 - I don't think that I will be measuring and checking in again until I am under that amount
    11/09 - 136.2 - What happened to the 135.0 from a few days ago?
11/10 - 135.9 - Thanks for the props friends. Planning to be indulgent tonight after work though, eating clean and exercising lots is no longer working for me. Driving out of town for work, so there will be less activity today. Not exactly giving up. My weight has fluctuated wildly every day from 191 pounds until now.
11/11 - 137.0 - New Format! I had Ribs and cocktails last night. Back to Chicken Breasts and Veggies : - )
11/12 - 137.2 - Hopefully topped out after Ribs and will begin to see it go down. However, back to late dinners because of my work schedule for the next couple of days.
11/13 - 137.1 - As usual, one day to put it on and many more than that to take it off. Plugging away.
    11/14 - 136.4 - Glad to see a bit of a drop.
    11/15 - 136.3 -Okay I guess.
11/16 - 137.8 -?? - I was on point with food choices and exercise, and even had dinner finished before 7pm. Argh. I will try not to get too upset with this, maybe just a fluctuation. Tomorrow will tell.
11/17 - 137.5 - What worked to help me lose 50 pounds seems to not be working now, but I am not willing to cut calories any more, and there is not enough time in the day for more activity than I already do. Going to keep trying nevertheless.

11/18 - 136.5 - Not ideal, but better. Somehow down a pound overnight. I didn't do anything differently.
11/19 - 137.4 - It is back. I was cruising around 131-132 for months. Disappointed, but I will just keep trying.
11/20 - DNW - I was up very early, and drinking water, coffee, juice...just didn't weigh.

I cannot just give up and throw in the towel! Of course my attitude when facing food is "I don't give a flying fig". That changes today. I'm not going to let the scale tip to 210 (especially since I saw 201 during the summer). I don't need an extra layer of fat to keep me warm during the winter!
