I just wanted to share a great accomplishment by my nephew. He was one of Forbe's 30 under 30. He was also number 8 in the 20 standouts of 2022. If you remember I have talked about his Lectric e-bike company. He's the highlighted first picture.

Hi Gals,
Mary – wow you must be bursting with pride. He has more get up and go than most 25 year olds I know.
Annie – Fleas are a nightmare, a bath every 10 days helps too – the trick with that is you have to get the pup wet all the way to the skin on every part of the dog. If they will stand in the tub of water that is easiest. My pup is not willing to stand in neck deep water so there is lots of soap and water poured over him.
Lisa – glad to hear you and your DD are doing better! And really glad to hear her and her hubby are talking; communication can help most situations.
Barbie “it was like teaching a raccoon to live indoors.” LOL I loved this comment
Beth – I am on the training and exercise side of the pup situation. I consider re-homing to be a last resort. I walk my 9 year old high energy dog every day – and my guess is that your pup needs more exercise that he is getting. There are lots of dog walkers out here some on apps like Wag and Rover, I have retired friends doing both of these to earn a bit of cash and get their exercise. Maybe one of those will help until you are steady enough to do it yourself.
Thinking of everyone.

Thanks Barbie for starting us off on the right foot!💖.
Today paid bills, and balanced us to the penny!!
This morning we go to Rite Aid to get our flu shots. I'm wearing a Sumner shirt so he can jab me easier. Right now a bit chilly!
Last night as I was giving eldest son a hug goodnight, I saw he had rope candy out. So he offered me some. Well it was sour ropes, and man my jaws ached, my eyes watered, so I'm yelling and laughing, and son was just beside himself with laughter!😂😂💖💖 I love to make him laugh so I kinda played it up a little.😁 I will surely miss our times together when he has to go to Guam.😢
Today is chicken, cheese, and rice with maybe a small salad. I will make my marshmallow/molasses cookie treat to have with coffee.👍
Have a great rest of the day ladies.
Heather sorry about your friends tumble. When I fall it really shakes me up. Even my teeth feel loose!

Beth- I will not be one to say "rehome the dog". He is young. I bet with some training he will come around and be just fine. If you love him; work with him. If I rehomed every thing that wasn't a good fit; my husband would live elsewhere. lol
KJ (Kelly)
Kelly ... thank you for this! I bust out laughing!

Mary ... Cool!
Kim ... I agree the pup is not getting enough exercise!
As for rehoming Cecil, my son is not willing to entertain the idea at this time. And he's right, Cecil's behavior is, in large part, due to our lack of consistency. So we'll work with him for awhile.
Received news today that my dad has now tested positive for covid in the rehab facility. Given that in addition to his GI issues, he has been dealing with pneumonia caused by aspiration, I am concerned. I was to travel to my mom's tomorrow, but that is now canceled as she and my brother were with my dad at the rehab facility last night. My husband is preparing a Pajama Pancake Breakfast for over 100 adults/children on Saturday and there is no way we can risk exposure to covid. I checked with my doctor as to how I should proceed given the situation my mom is in and he's recommending waiting 5 days, having mom take a rapid test, and then if test is negative and no symptoms I can be with her masked. I am so tired of covid.10 -

Terri- sending god thought to you for your procedure tomorrow.
I was one of the hostesses for Ladies bridge today. We had 36 women play for 6 hours. Then I had to help clean up after. So glad to get home.
My “angel” from the angel tree had somethings on her list that I didn’t know what they were. She is 17 years old so I started googling things. One thing she ask for is young adult books. Any suggestions?
I really don’t have a goal but will try to regain my endurance.
Thanks Barbie for the new month.

Terri I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow with your appointment!
Thanks for all the positive feedback about my nephew! We are very proud of his accomplishments. He started his company with his friend at the age of 23! And now two years later he's done extremely well.

Terri ... good luck with your procedure!
Barbie ...thank you for starting the new month.
I don't remember my November goals, but I'm pretty certain I just didn't want to gain weight while recuperating from my leg break. Today I weighed myself proper and I am down 2 pounds. I'll take it. December goals are to regain full strength of my leg, manage stairs, and head into January lighter.

Hi Gals,
I don’t know if any of you are experiencing this, it is heath insurance related to Affordable Care Act – I know this is on the edge of political – so I am putting it in a spoiler – but it is a good experience I have had!!! So I have not leaned over the political edge LOLWorking for myself and being lower on the income scale has made health insurance a challenging purchase. I have had insurance via the Affordable Care Act since it first went into law and have had the cheapest plan available $6000 annual deductible, my co-pay was 60-70% depending on the service, with a few preventive things that were free. NO dental care, NO vision care – I live in California, and am using Kaiser a membership health care set up.
I have been pleased with the care I have gotten, but other than the free preventive things (mammogram, pap smear, tb test, covid, flu and tetanus vaccines – and the biggie a colonoscopy – because my brother has colon cancer) I have only used it one time in 10 ish years. I am a healthy human but have avoided going many a time when it might have been wise, because of the deductible.
It is open enrollment right now and I was determined to really dig and see if I could not find a better plan. I tried last year and after many discouraging hours I gave up and just kept what I described above. Well, let me tell you, in California at least the web page has been made SO much better! I just spent 30 minutes was able, in that time, to compare plans, find one I could afford, and sign up for it. It is $1400 annual deductible, all the free stuff above, plus one doctor’s appointment per year, the co-pay is 30% and any doctor appointments, specialists, and meds are at a lower rate than before. I feel like if I had something serious, I could really use my insurance, because the $1400 would be really hard for me, but the $6000 was so overwhelming I would not have considered going to the doctor at all.
It starts 1/1/2022 and I feel like it is a great gift I have just given myself.
Thinking of everyone.

Thank you Barbie! You are our rock.
Heather I really enjoyed Johnny’s round robin, would you give him my thanks?
Lisa $300/10 days yikes! That makes me feel better about Joe’s $400/month eye drops. Your health is worth it, no pockets in a shroud. When the VA comes through with the next prescription will it still cost that much? Hopeful news about your health and your daughter.
KJ I, too, hope training can keep the puppy with Beth’s family, and I love Kim’s suggestions of dog walkers until the family is physically able. I nearly “re-homed” Joe when he told me I had to get rid of my rescue Wheaten. Good thing he came to his senses.
Barbie “like teaching a raccoon to live indoors” ring of truth! Yes, one of my rules is once I take on a responsibility, like a dog, that’s it, But I have no physical disabilities other than an extra 25 pounds. And we did kick one nephew out when he could not live by our rules.
Betsy good to see you posting, you’ve been missed.
Terri sending good energy to your medical staff and good thoughts for a quick, painless recovery.
Mary Wow. You must be so proud of your nephew!
Rebecca “… to the penny” Hooray! Now where are those Athena pics?
Carol that’s quite a range of feelings !
Allie sure hope the Dr.s office calls with interpretation soon, and that the news is favorable.
Beth I’m glad to hear your son doesn’t want to rehome Cecil. Time for your son to step up and exercise Cecil and work with him. Taking Shadow (or Tumble) to dog group for socialization twice a week is an hour that always improves my mood as well as being good for the dog. I am so sorry to hear of your father’s Covid test. Fingers X’d for both your mom and dad.
Suebdew hoping your stamina returns and soon.
Kim what a relief to finally have medical insurance you dare to use!
Kate and Evelyn good to see you popping in!
Like Machka I feel that I’m already behind on December and it’s just the first. Chose to lop and burn today instead of T’ai Chi. Dog group instead of power line. Still short on steps so time to get up off my butt.

Barbie:: Thank you for getting us started on the final month of 2021.
Evelyn: Sure wish some of your abundant rain would come our way. Colorado is freakishly warm this fall. I feel like I am living back in Los Angeles. We really need some snow.
Beth: I send up prayers for you and your family. You have gone through, and continue to deal with much more than anyone should have to.
Mary: Bravo to you nephew.
Machka: Good to see you are getting gardening projects done. Those photos from your vacation are amazing. I remember the exhaustion of being a caregiver. Hugs to you.
Heather: I am savoring your latest book. I'm just in total awe of your recall and courage in sharing your remarkable story.
Mars the Leash-Loving cat keeps me from collapsing into a complete holiday funk. He just had a physical and the vet would like for him to lose 2 pounds, so anytime he wants a walk, we go. Usually 4x a day for about a quarter mile each time. Being outside, listening to music and running into the occasional neighbor are bright spots to my rather modest life. On the health front, I had a bone density scan and am just on the border of osteopenia. No treatment needed at this time. yay!
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Emotional Wellness: Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships
Spiritual Wellness: Expanding our sense of purpose and meaning in life
Intellectual Wellness: Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills
Physical Wellness: Recognizing the need for physical activity, diet, sleep, and nutrition
Environmental Wellness: Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being
Financial Wellness: Satisfaction with current and future financial situations
Occupational Wellness: Personal satisfaction and enrichment derived from one’s work
Social Wellness: Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system
Emotional: I struggle with this one. Some days I'm coping effectively, others I'm not. I'd like to talk some things out with someone at times, but there's really no one.
Spiritual: Not too bad. Several months ago, I started reading the Bible each day again (one thing I use my phone for!) and am always praying. I find those things more comforting than reading inspirational quotes, etc. Sometimes I'm tempted to post verses here, but I won't.
Intellectual: My learning level hasn't been as intense as it was when I was in uni, and that's a good thing. I needed the break. However, this year, I did take a course on Understanding Brain Injury and I have been learning about gardening and bees.
Physical: Plugging away at it, trying to exercise every day or most days. In December the plan is to walk lots, climb some stairs, do some stretching and strengthening, resume running, and get as much cycling as we can in!
As for diet and sleep, I still need to eat slightly less and sleep a lot more. Once holidays begin, the sleeping more should be possible
Medical - only a couple small appointments this month, I think.
Environmental: 'Pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being' would be places like the garden we're working on, the beach I walk and run to, and the places we cycle. Toward the end of the month we might travel to some of our favourite places to cycle.
I think my To Do List would fit here ... trying to improve the indoor environment, in particular. But also trying to improve some of the other aspects as well. I had hoped to get through most of this list in 2021, but unless I am given a magic wand for Christmas, it isn't going to happen. So, it'll become my 2022 list!
Financial: Hmmm ... could be better.
Occupational: Ummm ... could be better.
Social: This is where our cycling club (Audax - long distance cycling) would fit. We're organising an event that goes December 5th which gives us a chance to socialise with other cyclists. If all goes well, we'll also get together with some of my husband's family this month.
Meanwhile this weekend (3-day) may include: cycling, running, building a beehive, getting more gravel for the ever-expanding footpath, organising a cycling event, colouring, working on a document for our lawyers, and putting up Christmas decorations.

Barbara, I am trying to get them from daughter in law but it involves getting them from her camera. I will ask her again. I will state about 40 older ladies (Athena's Aunties) need to see the messy chocolate pics, and get their dose of Athens cuteness!🙃😊 I'm sure she'll not be freaked out. Nope.
Staying up late and hoping my youngest gives me a call.

I'm now getting him to do a Christmas Quiz for the kids and one to have at the restaurant for our New Year's Day lunch.
Zoom with girlfriends today and a simultaneous Waitrose delivery.

Heather – Love your DH’s round robin! He's quite funny, but gentle with it.
Vicki – I’m so sorry about your friend.
Betsy – It’s so good to see you posting again, and glad your sister is stable. Hope the cataract surgery goes well. Glad you’re healing after the fall in September.
Terri – Hope your procedure is successful and your recovery pain free.
Mary in AZ – Well done to your nephew! The picture shows so much intensity coming from his gaze.
Rebecca – Hope your DDIL gets pics to you soon – we’re having Athena withdrawals.
Kim – Thank you for the boost I needed to try one more time to deal with the ACA. I delved into the site a week ago and ended up throwing my hands up in the air, because it’s frustrating as all get-out. I'll put on my big-girl panties and try once more.
Barbara – “no pockets in a shroud” is a little morbid, but I get the drift. Cried about it for a little (not about your comment, but the situation). I’ve finally learned that if I don’t go ahead and cry, eventually there will be an explosion that is much worse than crying. Unfortunately, both the VA pharmacy tech and the gastroenterologist’s nurse were in the line of fire when I began weeping.
Allie – hope the tests are clear and you are able to get on with your life.
Rori – So glad that your leash-loving cat is getting you outside and walking a lot. Does he like snow? Sounds like y’all need some. Glad your bone density scan was positive.
Kate – love your knitted items!
Love y’all,
Lisa in AR
