I have read and caught up, but was busy crafting all night.
Quite a lot of new pain today. Not sure what is going on.
I got 5 ornaments finished in the last couple of nights. I need to do the mouths of Santa and Mrs, and clear coat all of them. They’ll be wrapped and under the tree tomorrow.11 -
Machka - Sounds like quite a marathon for that job, but .... you did it! Wonderful.
Tracey - So hope your pain goes away. Sending hugs.
I'm up early. Very little sleep. A bit of a problem last night with upsetting DH. Long story. I hope and believe he will cheer up this morning when the grandchildren come. I managed to get myself out of my anxiety, but only slept three hours. It will all be fine. It is fine.
Love to all. Breathe.

Merry Christmas Eve! I am on the bus on the way home and don't go back for 16.5 days!
M in Oz
Just Zoomed with my family in Canada and the US.
That was really nice and that is the closest we'll get to seeing family for months or years. Who knows.
We haven't seen my parents in person for 4.5 years and haven't seen my brother in person in 9 years. But we communicate via Facebook, email and Zoom/Skype.
Thank goodness for technology!!
Now I think I'm going to do a bit of weeding in the garden ... and eat some snowpeas.
M in Oz
Weeded half a flower bed that contained just weeds. I think I'm going to put sunflowers in there, but it needs work. We've got these weeds with roots that go on forever and the root shoots up new growth of the weed every few inches. It's like a game pulling up this root that meanders all over the place!
Then we went cycling (see above). Just a short ride. Both of us are still feeling just a bit off from the booster. Tired.
And then we picked up Zambreros burritos on the way home. Zambreros is the only fast food place we go these days. We haven't been to a hamburger place in years and we used to go to Subway about once every couple weeks, but have been there maybe 3 times since my husband's accident. We've really gone off Subway.
It's Christmas Eve evening now and I might work on Christmas decorations and colour in my Christmas colouring book and read a bit ...

Accountability:Chose well: BP
Bonus: Freddie’s, recycling, delivered goodie bags to all that were in town, wrapped Joe’s, Shadow’s and Tumble’s gifts.
Just one thing:
Do good December.
24: Bring joy to others. Share something that made you laugh.
Noel! Noel!! Noel!!!
While I delivered goodie bags this morning, Joe took the dogs to Lone Ranch beach. So happy to see him making the effort to move out of that chair. While he was there, he met another guy with a dog, who said “I know that dog, that’s Shadow!” Was a guy from dog group and the fire hall. Sure would be nice if Joe and he stumbled into each other again.
Lisa I’m with you. Out to Freddie’s early this morning, no need to leave home again for days.
Heather I’m sure that time with the grands burned more than the 50 cals you were short of your usual. Con VERY grats for your story’s second publication. Publicity is good as gold. I somehow had a different image from your “flasher” announcement, so was relieved to scroll down and see your smiling face and flashing earrings!
Rebecca listening to your body, well done!
Vicki brava for first day back to the gym!
Pip and Katla only electricity here too. I kept burning things and cussin’. Finally a repair guy suggested getting a propane stove. Halelujah! Joe was not enthusiastic due the risks, but has accepted. Too bad I still burn things…
Michele what a relief about your laptop. Whew!
Machka you make me so grateful to be retired Jealous of your snowpeas!
Suebdew would you let us know how you make the day fun for your DH? I could use some tips.
Tracey so sorry to hear of your new pain. How soon is your next appointment?
All the "must-do"s are done. No need to leave the house for the next 3? 4? More? Days. Will finish the tree while listening to Christmas music, maybe bake a batch of Mama’s Holiday Nut Balls, and if Joe steps out of the house will do a quick vac. Looking forward to a quiet, peaceful holiday.
Warmest holiday wishes to you all, dear friends.
Lighter, lovelies!

Happy Christmas Eve, y'all!
Heather - Love the flashing earrings, but the smile most of all. So pleased you were accepted for another publication. Well deserved success, that, as well as superb marketing. Hope things are resolved this morning on the spousal side.
Barbara - Definitely a cocooning time of year for me and Corey, yes. He's still in bed, with plans to sleep as much as he can, and I heartily agree with it. It's been a long year.
Tracey - I'm sorry for the continued pain issues. It is so exhausting. Your ornaments are just beautiful.
Machka - Congrats on the new job! Enjoy your two weeks+ holiday.
Woke up thinking of my daughter. Talked to her on the phone last night at length.
TL;DR - Family drama, skip if not interested. Seriously. Our daughter and her three kids plan to be here Thursday to celebrate a late Christmas and New Year's with us. She sounded very calm and resolved last night on the phone. I genuinely try not to push most of the time, but I worked on her to talk to her military chain of command. They need to know what's happening, and how they can help her. The chaplain in her husband's unit in Poland called her chaplain at Fort Riley, so she and the kids can also get counseling on that side. She talked to her first sergeant already, as well, and is scheduling time to talk to the commander next week. It was a big step, and she took it, and I'm proud of her for that.
Because she is also a practical soul most of the time, she's already started untangling their finances. Luckily, she's the primary on their house, which makes a number of things easier. She's also started a new checking account and is getting her pay direct deposited there with no access for her husband. She took his name off her credit card. And... she went through the house and has everything that's his sitting in the garage. I can see how that would be very cathartic.
Unfortunately, her spouse is a gun nut (not unusual in the military) and has everything from pistols to assault rifles available at the house. This scares me. Mostly because her husband decided to stop posting vague, ominous, one-sentence stupidity on Facebook, and posted a series of accusations in a long post that was constructed to try to tear down her character in front of their mutual friends, tank her military career, and in general hurt her as much as possible. Luckily, the mutual friends and the chain of command are reasonable human beings and are taking his words as being highly suspect. For instance, he asked a mutual friend to install a Ring doorbell camera on their house so he could "keep his family safe," when in reality it was one more bid to spy on Kelsey. They talked to Kelsey and refused to do it.
Please note, we have no illusions about our daughter. She is no saint, and there may be a grain of truth in some of that. It simply doesn't matter. She's our daughter, and she always will be. But I'm watching him go far past the point of no return for their marriage, and it makes me weep. Unfortunately, his actions may also destroy his own military career. I don't wish evil for him, I honestly don't, but I don't want someone carrying a rifle who is angry, paranoid, sneaky, and delusional.
Next week, we will be able to provide our daughter a safe haven where she can turn off her phone and have a few moments where she doesn't have to be the mom and can be the daughter instead. I'm really looking forward to that and time with the grands.
For now, it's a deep breath and four days straight of my husband's company--which sounds awfully good from here!
Happy Christmas for those who celebrate!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR6 -
Our life is very simple so we finished all our grocery shopping with our weekly curbside pick up on Sunday. Yesterday we headed out to pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy drive through and to the library to pick up a book I had on hold. That is a big day for us. We'll stay home until next Sunday when we pick up groceries again.
My walking friend won't be walking with us today as she and her local daughter are driving over to take the ferry to meet with her other daughter. That will give me two hours to listen to podcasts which is a treat for me. The temperature is just above freezing so I'll be wearing lots of layers and watching carefully for slippery spots. Jake has a fire in the wood stove.
Lisa, so sorry about all the family drama
Heather, congrats on having your article published. You look awesome in your flasher photo.
Machka, I enjoy reading about your summer adventures while it is so cold here.

Morning ladies
And Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate...
Im invited to friends house tonight but think I will beg off .just dont like driving after dark especially if other people have been drinking..
If it was here in town then maybe but its 1/2 hour away and on dark street
Will be going to Trudys for breakfast tomorrow and rhen a quiet day here which is fine with me.
Lisa- I sure hope everything works out for your daughter that Is very scary especially with young children involved..your son doing well?
Speaking of I have to go clean off my car and get ready to go take my son to get his booster shot..
We have snow today which makes it pretty but ..tomorrow morning could be freezing rain.0 -

I did my two minutes of elliptical, and some yoga, even though my tummy is not happy for some reason. Probably the chocolate I ate last night. Still, I'm getting back into the hang of the sun salutations. I miss having a teacher to guide my breath, but I'm getting better at it. My dog is still learning which poses can be interrupted for scritches and petting.
My cousin is having an open house, but when specifically asked she said come at 4:30. I'm a little concerned about Covid with my parents going. But it seems inconceivable to not go to a family Christmas gathering. We have all had our shots, and we mostly isolate, so we can just hope for the best. I can't keep them home.
I'm taking brownies and a bottle of wine. My mom keeps saying there's no reason to bring anything, but since I grew up I've learned better.
Then yesterday my aunt invited us to dinner tomorrow. So I won't be cooking at all!

Lisa - What an awful business. How strange are folks!
We had an amazing time with the grandchildren. The snowballs were a great hit.
I have never seen kids eat so much fruit! Dipped in chocolate they managed to get through three bananas and two packets of strawberries!
The presents were a hit, with Max loving his Risk and Bea just adoring her party dress and detachable cloak.
A good day. I asked my son if he got much done and he said, "Yes, we bought a new car."
Love to all and HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!

Pip ~ I know you miss your three labs! They were lovely. I love the swim loving Yogi!
Heather ~ Bea looks like a princess! So pretty.
Annie ~ Have fun at the open house and dinner with your aunt.
Lisa ~ I am sorry that your daughter is going through so much. I had hoped the situation had gotten resolved but evidently not. I feel sorry for the children having to go through this as it must be very hard on them.
Michele ~ Is your seafood meal this evening? I hope it goes well.
I spent most of the day yesterday baking goodies to take to my DnL's moms tomorrow. I am definitely not a baker. Even though I tried my best to follow the recipe for a coconut pound cake, I put too much milk in it and it wouldn't bake. I ended up putting it in my Ninja oven at a high temperature for 20 minutes (it had baked in the other oven for 1 hr 15 min and still was just a liquid mess). It finally cooked but ended up being too dry even though it taste delicious. In addition I also made lemon bars and brownies. Even though I have only tasted the cake, I feel bloated at just the thought of all those sweets.

Merry Christmas Ladies-
Finding this site really has been a blessing!
Heading up to mom's as soon as dh cleans up. He had said we would leave about 10- well, he isn't even in the shower yet so will be closer to10:30 I guess. I need to run over and feed our friends dog and cats, feeding a little extra beings I won't be back over until tomorrow afternoon. They will be happy to see me.
Looking forward to an evening with just mom and I. Dh will be at his mom's after dropping me off at my mom's. He will stay for a few hours and head home. He, our son and his girlfriend will come up in the morning. They had said they might come up late tonight but I would rather them come in the morning. More storms are hitting tonight and the back road with possible falling trees and mudslides are not good in the day and terrible at night. My younger sister is working so I won't see her. Will leave her gifts at the house and see how long it takes to pick them up. Took her 6 months to get her birthday gift one year- and she lives just like 20 min from mom at most.
No sister or my dh there tonight means we will enjoy a drama free evening which we are both really looking forward to.
Oyster stew for us tonight.
Have a wonderful holiday and I will check in tomorrow night.

Last night I called my daughter in Illinois and we had a wonderful visit with memories and treasures from long ago. Our daughter made an amazing Father Christmas out of paper. She was then a highschool senior in an art class. I have her Father Christmas displayed on my mother’s piano. I made teddybear tree toppers several years ago and gave one of them to her. It is on top of her Christmas tree. I am so glad that I called her last night. ❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️

PS— I have one of the teddybear angels on top of my Christmas tree, too, and another one on the wet-bar in the living room. 🎄0

Carol - What a happy sweetheart!
Just watched 'White Christmas'. Again. Just as good as the first time. Don't make them like that any more.
DH cheerful.
We put our new bedlinen on our bed this morning. It's our Christmas present to each other. A lovely blue and white ikat print.
We are meeting the family down at the beach tomorrow morning at 10. 30, so not much time to linger in the morning. Might be a short exercise session. Father Christmas is bringing us presents to open. 😜

I only caught the last 45 minutes of White Christmas but it my favorite Christmas movie and your right ,they dont make them like that anymore...
Im making myself a grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner tonight..2 -
Worked today. I usually don’t work on Sundays but I offered to work. Hopefully, that will endure me more to being able to take a month off to go to FL. Yes, I am buttering up the manager.
What happened? I got home from work and asked “where is the rug? (we have a rug in front of the sink) Vince told me that he vacuumed, swiffered the kitchen floor, ran Buzz (robotic vacuum) in the bedroom.
Lisa – it sounds like your daughter is really taking the reins. So very proud as I’m sure you are, too.
Carol GA – yes, Christmas Eve dinner is traditionally seafood. What a sweetie!
Debbie – enjoy your night
Company will be here soon

This is a quiet day so far. Yesterday I was able to have a wonderful conversation with our daughter. It was good to hear her voice and we talked for a while. ❤️
