Our friends came over. Actually, it was very good for me. Helped keep my mind off the fact that Denise won't come here. Jess called while we were eating dinner. Gave them leftovers and some for us.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas.

This has been a lovely day. I had calls from our daughter, favorite niece and sister in law. DH & I were able to take turns & share. 😘. We were able to talk to DDIL & son a day or so ago. 😇🎄😇🎄1

DD & I had a very nice visit. Color me happy. 😊1

DD and I just returned from church. Very nice service although not many there. It is supposed to start snowing about midnight so we may have a white Christmas. We are having a quiet celebration with the critters. We will have cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa in the morning and then open our gifts. All the critters will get special treats.
Merry Christmas everyone, Sue in WA5 -
Heather - Very Merry Christmas to you, Johnny and the family.
Lisa - I’m so glad your daughter is taking some steps to protect herself. The guns would be a worry for me too. How long is he in Poland?
Barbara - Are the walks that Joe is taking making a difference in his health and demeanour?
I see a huge difference in Rodger when he is active.
Katla - so happy you were able to have a lovely conversation with your daughter.
Rebecca - I literally laughed out loud at the window decor.
My pain wasn’t as bad today, hopefully the rest I’ll get after tomorrow will be a huge help. I don’t return to work until Wednesday.
Our daughters and their families will be arriving around 1230-1 tomorrow afternoon.
I will try to make one of our favourite Christmas treats before they arrive. They are very easy to make, just time consuming.
Merry Christmas to all of you. I do enjoy our friendship. 🎄❄️🎅

happy holidays to all, whether you like or love them or the opposite.
Weight's up today. I thought it would be. my sweat pants felt tight yesterday for 1st time. bummer. getting through days acceptably seems to take priority relative to medium or long term goals.4 -
Merry Christmas my lovely ones. I know this time of year can be difficult for some -- I have my own issues surrounding it, as well -- but I hope that we all can find something to be thankful for, no matter how we celebrate (or don't celebrate).
My husband and 15 year old went to my husband's "first" family this week. I was invited, but since we had just returned from Fiji, I didn't feel like another domestic air flight. So I have spent the last week with my mother on the Olympic peninsula. My puppy and I have had a few walks. I was able to go with my mother to her doctor's appointment, which was very helpful, since she is declining quite a bit. Failure to thrive comes to mind, actually. They will run the battery of tests that they did a couple years ago, but none of us are expecting them to find anything. She is down to 114 pounds, which at 5'2" isn't really underweight, but her doctor told her in the past not to go below 125. She doesn't eat much, and she is not really mobile any more -- although she can take care of her personal hygiene needs. She's developed a tremor in one hand, which is really concerning to me, and the doctor. She is at an extreme fall risk, so I don't know how much longer being in her house is sustainable, but my niece and I are going to make it work for as long as my mother wants. We are arranging to have someone come in and clean; my niece orders her groceries for delivery; and I have Schwann meals delivered once a month. She doesn't qualify for any government assistance, like Meals on Wheels, which frustrates my niece, but I reminded her that my mother's financial security is actually a good thing and not something to be upset about.
I managed to arrange her flu shot at the doctor's, and then she and I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get our boosters together. She fussed about going, when it came time to do it ("I haven't been shopping anywhere for two years!"), but I didn't give her any room to back out of it. It was quite stressful because she can't really walk, or even sit up for very long, but I managed to get her into the store, and she managed the electric cart pretty well. Much better than I would have. She almost knocked a few things down, and we had a chuckle about that, but she didn't actually hit anyone or anything. So, success! Mentally, she is all there, which is a blessing, but it also makes her frustrated because she can't do anything, and she is very much aware of her limitations.
Anyway, I head back down to PDX tomorrow morning to retrieve my husband and son so we can spend the afternoon together for Christmas. It will be very laid back. I haven't done much shopping, but I still think it's going to be a very nice, and hopefully WHITE, Christmas.
Everyone take care.

It's almost Christmas day here, the weatherman is threatening us with a white one. Personally, I would prefer rain.... don't have to shovel that! And it's much easier to drive in. Oh well, it is what it is. It will be just hubby and I tomorrow, our son and his family will be at his inlaws place. We get them on Boxing Day, which actually works well for me this year. I worked today, it was supposed to be until 2, but the boss kicked us all out at 1 and this was after treating us to Chinese food for lunch! Anyway, I did some prep today and will do the bulk of the prep tomorrow which should make the actual cooking of the meal much easier. I didn't get a whole turkey this year, bought a couple of turkey breast roasts, no carcass to deal with. One store that I went into had a limit of one turkey per order due to the extreme flooding that the lower mainland (where all the farms are!!) experienced. There will be a lot of stuff either in short supply and/or very expensive for the next while, could take up to 3-4 years for some to get back to pre flood production levels. A lot of berry farms were flooded, it will be hard to say how damaged the crops are until spring.
Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating! And Happy Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Diwali etc to anyone celebrating!
As always, hugs for those needing them, congrats for those celebrating and welcome to any newbies!

Accountability:Chose well: BP, rx
Bonus: 1 load laundry, changed linens, 30 mins vacuuming and dusting, trimmed tree.
Just one thing:
Do good December.
25: Treat everyone with kindness today, including yourself.
Joe volunteered to take the dogs down to the powerline again! Now why didn’t I go with them? SMH.
Lisa four days alone with Corey sounds like just the restorative grounding needed. Glad your daughter and grands can be safe with you both. Hard situation.
Heather Princess Bea’s party dress w/cloak! “White Christmas” is one of my very favorites.
Carol your GD’s Christmas dress and leopard shoes. The grumpy cat made me smile.
Katla would you share a pic of the teddy bear angel?
Rebecca “let it snow” snorting my water!
Pip you and Kirby, and Yogi too of course.
Tracey it’s a cycle, walking makes him feel better which makes him feel like walking. Same with me, when I’m stiff and achy and don’t want to move, I try to remind myself that motion is lotion, and sometimes it works. Really hope your holiday is pain free.
Machka had to read your update twice, at first I saw “… walked on the water…”
Flea really admire your ability to “have a chuckle” with your mom despite everything. You are an inspiration.
Evelyn, Flea, Debbie and everyone who may get a White Christmas, pics please? Weatherman is predicting a snowy rainy mix here but not ‘til early Sunday morning, then off and on again for the next few days. Somehow the prospect of slushy mud makes me really thankful not to have to leave the house.
Caught the last two thirds of “The Family Stone” and quite enjoyed it.
Rib roast is thawing, as is bacon for the roasted Brussels sprouts with dried cranberries and spicy pecans. Baked potatoes and salad will round out the feast. Contemplating Christmas cookies and eggnog for breakfast .
Warmest winter holiday wishes to you all, dear friends.
Lighter, lovelies!

Safe travels for those who are away from home.
We did a good job of grocery shopping yesterday. We can stay warm and cozy inside if the weather is cold & wet, and we’re stocked up with food for several days. I am happy at home.
I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with our daughter via zoom and our son via iphone, & DH called his sister & had a nice time catching up on daily life.
Happy Christmas for those who celebrate.

Tracey - his temporary duty is over in March, but the saga's not even near over. More on that later. Thank you, as well as everyone who is thinking of her. I feel like I'm lining up my guardian angels (all of y'all) to give another layer of the support our daughter needs right now. I'm so glad your pain has lessened.
Katla - I'm so glad you were able to talk to your daughter at length. Those are such satisfying conversations. Balm for a heart.
Rebecca - Funny windows! Hope you had a lovely Christmas Eve with your bunch.
Pip - LOVE the pics of you and Kirby and Yogi. It appears your nephew was intent on making your Christmas very merry!
Carol - Love your granddaughter's Christmas dress!
Flea - So pleased to see your post, and hope your mother is doing well.
No white Christmas for us - but I do approve the weather, as it's a balmy mid-70s today and tomorrow. The snow can wait until January.
Here's my contribution to the general Christmas cheer, and my wish for everyone, a serene RamaHanaKwanzMas! Mostly, I hope everyone is safe and warm in a place with love and laughter, joy and peace.
Love y'all,

Our Christmas ...
Christmas Eve, I left work just before 1 pm, got home and enjoyed a 45 minute Zoom with my parents and brother.
Then there was some gardening and a bicycle ride and colouring and Christmas decorations.
Christmas Day, we both slept in which was much needed. We're still feeling the effects of the booster.
Waffles were for brunch, which I realised has become a Christmas Day tradition with us. Thanks Facebook memories!
Then I spent quite a bit of time in the garden and then went for a walk to the beach while my husband napped.
When I got home, I put the final coat of paint on the roof of the beehive, and started dinner.
I cooked chicken and boiled small potatoes and my husband did the veggies, although I picked the snowpeas. I also whipped up a pavlova and put it in the oven. Dinner was delicious and healthy ... dessert not so much.
Then we watched A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim.
A lovely quiet Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas to all of you who are celebrating. We don't celebrate holidays but Jake likes to have a special meal on Christmas. We bought a small pre-sliced, pre-cut ham to serve with packaged mashed potatoes, frozen vegetables, olives, and Grands biscuits. Yummy food with almost no cooking involved and minimal clean-up.
It is cold enough here that the roads are a bit icy. I'll be walking on the gravel and treading carefully when we cross the streets. Fortunately Bessie will walk only in the grassy field behind the house so when I go for my long walk, I'll have only Sasha with me. My morning dog walking friend just called to say that she won't walk with us because of the icy roads. I have podcasts to listen to so it will still be a great walk. Snow is predicted for later in the day and overnight.

The two grands at the other grandma's house before they went to a candle light service!

Carol - Good-looking grandkids! One of the biggest blessings of this group is to see our grands and our furry kids grow and change as the years go by.
Heather - And speaking of which, Bea looks as if she's trying so hard to be regal while her sister helps her with her cape! Such a charming pic of grands we've seen grow as well. Love the fact that Max is excelling, and loves stretching his intellect. And Risk is one of my all-time favorite games.
Bread's rising, one of my favorite smells soon to come when it's punched down, shaped, risen once more and in the oven baking. Honestly feels like there is more meaning to my existence when I can offer bread for our daily lives. Quite biblical in some ways. Missed it when I wasn't feeling well, and my biggest Christmas present is simply feeling more like myself again.
Last year, I had my bread recipe (which I taught my daughter ten years ago) written in my handwriting and laser-carved into a small breadboard for my daughter. Love the fact that my mother's recipe is now passed on to the grandchildren I never thought I'd have.
Honestly grateful for everything today. Even when we can't see the eventual outcomes, things tend to come out OK.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR9 -
Merry Christmas! It has been a rough couple of months for me mentally. I think of y'all often but just haven't been into the computer. I am okay, just not quite "me" . Not sure that makes sense...anyway.
I hope you all are surrounded by love and laughter today especially.

Kylia ~ Good to see you! I have wondered about your Kentucky home. Did it get missed by the tornadoes? I hope so.

Kylia - So very glad to see you here. I was worried about you. You had a lot to deal with. Hope you can get your mojo back.
Just finished watching South Pacific. Had a great sing-a-long. I had the LP as a child, so I know all the words!
My friend whose husband died has covid. Luckily her sister and BIL have it too, so they are isolating together ❤
Lisa - LOVE the grands collage. Your daughter is lucky to have you ❤.
The beach this morning was wonderful. Bea didn't make it because she had an upset stomach. Something common with her. But the other grandparents came down and we all chatted and watched the swimmers in their Santa hats!!!!! Great fun. The other grandfather brought champagne.
The beach was packed., despite the slightly dull weather. Here are three intrepid ladies going in for a swim.
Much love to all. DH is starting to cook dinner. Hairy Bikers Lancashire Hotpot .

We had Christmas calls from our adult children yesterday. Our son lives in Virginia time & called at 6am, Oregon time. Our daughter lives in Illinois. She called at 6 pm, Oregon time. I was happy to have both calls. I keep wishing that Bill Shatner would enable the Enterprise to use its ability to materialize us at our adult children’s homes & then zap us to our home after a nice visit.😊5

OMG!!!! Yogi got this for Christmas from our electrician!! It’s so cute! We go camping , so this was perfect!

Carol - Your grands look so grown up now. How time flies! I sometimes feel a bit sad that ours seem to be growing so fast.
