Walked with my husband earlier in the day.

Then completed a 50K in December walking challenge. :)

Hot day ... it hit 32.8C (91F) while I was out there walking. Thankfully there was a bit of shade and some wind.

I hope I get answers to, my BF has told me the issues now are my penance for never having cramps. 😂 She suffered terribly when we were young and has sailed through menopause with no issues.

Tracey in Edmonton, -33 tonight. It’s supposed to be -4 on Saturday.

I had issues with my female organs all the way through. Horrendous cramps in the early years.

Mid-cycle spotting and sometimes full fledged bleeding in the mid-years ... it's just fabulous having 2 periods a cycle. The mid-cycle bleeding seemed to be triggered by exercise of all things. I'd go on a long ride and whoosh.

And then as I entered perimenopause, in addition to the usual 31 symptoms of perimenopause, I was bleeding 3 weeks out of 4. At first I figured it was just perimenopause. After all, why not have 3 periods a cycle?? Finally, after a little over a year of that, I got fed up and went to the Dr.

Turns out I had a massive polyp in my uterus and when I had the surgery to remove it, they told me I had pre-pre-cancer. The cells were just starting to change. That was in 2015. I needed to be checked every 6 months and if they noticed anything, I'd have to have surgery again. Thankfully, my periods started being monthly for a change! But in 2017, the periods started coming more frequently again, I was tested again, and I had the very early stages of cancer. Surgery again ... and it seems to have been OK since.

Do get them to be thorough with the testing. What I thought was perimenopause was something more serious.

And then, because walking 12 km didn't seem like enough ... we went for an evening bicycle ride. :)

    Good morning, all.

Barbie: I'm like you. I just want to keep doing what I'm doing, so I've chosen CONSOLIDATE as my word for 2022
    Allie: Good vibes for Tracy.
Machka: I've used Dr Fogg's habit technique for sometime. It has certainly made a difference in how well the habits stick.

Another really good Desert Island Discs this morning.. Find it on the Sounds app. It was our National Treasure, Richard Osman. He talked about his food addiction (I know exactly what he was talking about) and his detective story The Thursday Murder Club, set in a retirement village. I think quite a few of you might like it, although I have not read it.

Lisa - I am thinking of you as you gather your family around you. <3

I had never done words for the year until Barbie set me a good example. 2020 was EMBRACE. I truly embraced my family trauma and opened myself to healing. 2021 was FRUITFUL. I had one of the best years of my creative life as I opened up to spreading my branches and giving the fruits of my knowledge to others.
This next year, 2022, I have chosen EMPOWER. I choose to empower others through my writing by spreading the word about how to feel empowered by the parts of ourselves we once labelled as flawed. They are our superpower.

A VERY FRUITFUL AND EMPOWERED NEW YEAR to you all. :D<3:D<3:flowerforyou:

Good last day of 2021....I am reading. I am so thankful for all of you! You are my blessings and mentors. Work for 3 hours today, dinner with friends at 430, then heading to Kentucky for the night. I have forgotten my word for 2021. It has just been a rough year. I think I will post whatever word I chose on my bathroom mirror. So this weekend I will think of "goals" and word.
Like Machka's cartoon, I am sneaking into 2022!

Positive note ...I am finishing the year 4 pounds down from this time last year! Lots of roller coaster rides along the way, but I will take that victory.

Heather - thank you. Just heard Levi say "oh no!" very loudly in his mother's ear, and 6 am's not here yet. They're in the living room, on the other side of a wall... She will insist on having them all sleeping in the living room, and when you do that, there is a price to pay...

Tracey - we definitely grew up in similar circumstances. There were no hallways in our house either. One front door led into the living room, one led into my parent's bedroom, and one into the brothers' bedroom. To get to the kitchen, you had to walk through my parent's bedroom or the bathroom. My shared bedroom (with my baby sister) had three doors.

One led directly into the kitchen, one into my brothers' room, and one out onto the back porch. No insulation, it was built from 1x12 planks under a tin roof, and cracks between them that made trying to keep the house bug-free and critter-free nigh impossible. There was no upstairs, but there was an attic where the rats held sway. My sister and I had a wholly different definition of the "rat race," because of the nightly rat gallop above us. Every so often, my mother would take one of our many cats and put them up in the attic with a bowl of water for about a week. If they wanted to eat, they had to wage war on the rats.

As our fair Machka sees the New Year begin in just a few minutes, and the Earth continues its spin around the sun and brings a New Year to each of us in turn in the northern hemisphere, I've got a lot of reflections running around my head. Looking for my word for 2022 has led me down a number of different pathways. Right now, I am leaning toward the word "recover." For my country, for the world, for my family, and for me. This may yet change. It's a really big word when you think about it.

Time to go talk to the little yeller in the living room and hopefully let his mama, brother, and sister get a little more sleep.

    Love y'all,
    Happy New Year!

    Well ... that's it.

    It's 2022.

It's hot and quiet. So far.

I'm going to bed to read about neuroplasticity and then to sleep.

    Accountability:
Chose well: BP, BB&B, Freddie’s, recycling, typed hymns.
    Bonus: visit with A
    Just one thing:
    Do good December.
31: Plan some new acts of kindness to do in 2022. Monthly chats with C, M, P & Ru; messaging with B, T and Ri.

Heather “lasagna” planting bulbs, brilliant! Will try that next fall.
Lisa what you said about being an example to others and choice. To see oursel’s as ithers see us… Safe travels to your DD and the grands.
Terri thanks for posting your inspiring habit tracker. Copy catted you but to a spreadsheet for easy summing and calculating percentages.
Also stealing Rebecca’s smiley grid idea but using colors instead of smiley’s to give myself virtual gold stars.
Thanks Rita will google that and send to my Jeep driving friend.
    Debbie ((hugs))
Allie prayers for Tracey, you and the whole family. IMHO, since it was her boss who exposed her, the company should pay for the quarantine time.
Katla and Debbie I was born a city girl and so spared the rigors of agricultural work, other than watering neighbors’ lawns. ;)
In Jr. High lots of the boys worked all winter nights on the smudge pots in the pear orchards. Came in to school sooty and exhausted. We city folk don’t appreciate the work food producers put in.
Annie, baby steps. That salad is getting closer! ;)

Only to pg 64 but can’t pass the opportunity to sit with Joe.

Did my elliptical and yoga. That makes three times, so it's officially a trend! Maybe the salad will happen today. I am down four pounds from my Christmas bloat, so that's a good beginning too. Back to my usual struggle weight, 170.4. There, I said it.

It looks like I have another chance to become slim and strong by the end of the pandemic, which is a moving deadline. My goal is really just to stay with the yoga/elliptical program, and dumbbells, and ci<co. Which means no cookies because I can't stop. And no chocolate habit. Maybe a taste of chocolate now and again, but not daily.

So my next challenge is going out to lunch Saturday. Probably they make a better salad than I do!
