Worked today then went with Vince for his allergy shot, returned my Sleep Study and then stopped at the Salvation Army. I swear, Vince needs to make his allergy appt. on another day, it’s so crowded at the Salvation Army because it’s senior day. Ceramics tonight
krwest….. - please give us a name you’d like to be called! My son-in-law’s mother has scleroderma. I would be very interested in how you are. Oh, and welcome!
Ordered some ceramic paint. This was the ONLY place I could find that had one certain color. Actually, the gal at our ceramics place asked me to get some for her.
Going to try to get as much done at work tomorrow so that it’s sort-of easy for me Thurs. I have a dentist appt. I’ll go in early, do as much as I can, then go to the dentist, back to finish the prep. I’ll wrap up extra cheese and peel the onions (won’t slice them, just peel them).
Rita – great that insurance paid for a FitBit
M – you look lovely
Annie DE – you go girl!

Allie, Maybe the best gift you can give your daughter and her family is to get rested, reach out to Carmine, and wait to find out what Tracy needs and then buy it for her.

we always referred to my son's pacifier as a shusher-(because it would shush him up )- he HAD to have that thing all the time.3 -

Thank you! My name is Kelly, but I think I saw another Kelly here so I’ll sign off as Kelly W. 🙂
I am learning a lot about the scleroderma, and so far it’s not a huge impact on most of my health. When I have a flare my fingers swell, I use a lot of lotion for dry skin, and do what I can to keep inflammation down. It’s really scary to think of all that could happen so I try to just take it day by day.

Kylia would you remind me what you’re making for your GD’s graduation gift?
Machka sorry your doctor didn’t advise you of the plan to leave private practice, nor the backup’s plan to take a sabbatical year. Glad you were able to get the prescription renewed by another Dr. there and good luck finding a replacement GP. Do you have a glittery color? Platinum or rose gold?
Heather thanks for the Penny update, sorry to hear of her parents’ decline. A duvet day sounds like just the thing. “Fired myself”? Ring a ding DING! And the quality of my work was sub-par.
Kelly thankful your C-19 tests were negative. Excellent advice to Allie and appropriate reminder to me for other situations. Thanks!
Annie, thought I was the only one with that obit If you can do 2 mins on the elliptical, you can dance for 2 mins too. Brava for the good writing day.
Welcome @krwestlund7 Kelly W! Thank you for answering the call, pastors are in short supply.
Pip “… like Brad Pitt and George Clooney…” LOL!
Lisa hard to not be angry at previous VA GP, especially when his reluctance postponed needed treatment. How about a big blast o’ wrath … then let go? A counselor once suggested I take an empty paper towel roll and beat and bash an inantimate object for a full minute (or more) to release some long held anger/pain. The cozy up with Egg and the fireplace
Allie it can be emotionally hard when daughters do things so differently from their moms.
Katla good luck at the DDS! Joe went yesterday, dentist could find nothing wrong with the tooth that bothered him, but yes, found a “little cavity” on a different tooth [sigh].
Rita your tricorder. Is your trip still on?
Rebecca also always good to see Athena’s sweet face.
Ginny “just a” gym routine is a very very good thing. Hope all the appointments go well.
Flea’s right, “summery” was the word that popped into my mind at Machka’s pic.
Michele good luck to you too at the DDS.
Debbie thanks, didn’t know what a “shusher” was.
Margaret, Beth, Cheri, Tina, Terry, Kate, Karen, Mary, Sue, always good to see your smiling faces.
Lighter, lovelies!

Barbara thanks for all of your positive support to me and everyone else on here.
We're still recovering but I think that tomorrow night we will actually be able to sleep in our bed! Tomorrow I think that I will probably stop taking the Mucinex, Tylenol and ibuprofen that we were advised to take when we were at the hospital for my husband's infusion. We are still walking 1.4 miles 4 times during the day. I really think being active was the key to our recovery. Now we can go back to remodeling our condo.
Have a great day everyone 🙂

So far this week, all I've felt like doing when I come home in the evening is colouring.
I guess that's one of my forms of "meditation".
I have heaps to do. My house is like a hurricane went through with Christmas stuff still up, stuff I'm bringing home from work, plants I want to plant in the garden etc. I'm battling a massive onslaught of emails. My To Do list is growing. Just added "Find new doctor" to the list.
But all I want to do is colour.
What colour should I colour Joy?

And other Christmas colouring I've been working on. It relaxes me.

I went for a slow walk this morning along the seafront in the glorious sunshine. I woke up this morning with my legs feeling like I'd run a marathon! Now they just ache. A lot. I feel better in myself though.
I'm lying on my bed, having a coffee, and a bath seems like too much trouble.
Another easy day for me, I think. It's all good.
I rang my friend L while I was walking. She is coping. Busy organising the funeral, wake, etc. She has lost some weight, which she did not have to lose, and is having difficulty eating, or finding time to settle to cook. She has food issues. Her partner who died was the cook and nourisher. Otherwise she is not doing too badly. Was putting on the laundry when I called.
So, I am giving myself one more day to be 'recovering'.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! Well, my cold seems to have settled in my head. My voice is gone and feel like my head is going to explode every time I sneeze or cough. Blah. Also...three of my childcare kids have tested positive for C-19. The littlest one is two and she is so tiny (I have a one year old that weighs more than she does). She woke with a fever yesterday and by noon they had to take her into ER because she was having difficulty breathing. The docs gave her a steroid and breathing treatment and sent her home with meds and a nebulizer. She tested positive in ER. For me, whether it is covid or any virus, it is scary when really little ones get anything. Because they can't tell you things like "it's hard to breathe". Anyway, when I found out yesterday afternoon that three of my kiddos are positive, I decided to shut down care for the rest of the week. First time I have ever had to do it. BUT...when covid hit almost two years ago; I knew there was a very high chance of me having to do this. I am actually quite surprised that we made it this long without my families or myself getting sick. I will have myself retested on Friday. Just to be sure.
Pip- Agreed. If you have both a George and a Brad; no need to choose. lol Enjoy them both!
Machka- Great pic of you in the pink! Very pretty! Also love the running pics! Very inspiring!
Rita- I feel you with the sinus issues! Ugh! It makes everything feel 10x harder. Hang in there! Sending healing thoughts!
Karen VA- Sending you love and thoughts for strength and peace.
Heather- Ugh! Older kid accidents. It amazes me how old they get and I still have to remind them that NOTHING is more important than going to the bathroom. lol Funny, how as we get older, the bathroom becomes part of our routine.
Kelly W.- Welcome! Always room for more Kellys!
I am headed outside today. I will do a bit of shoveling (there is a light dusting on the driveway). Nothing too strenuous, but it will get me outside in the fresh air. Here's hoping the cold air will get the nasal passages open and draining. Maybe a hot shower after. One of those ought to help. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -

Machka - well done on the 10K and the hair, and the pretty in pink! Your smile says a lot in that end of run picture. Love the fact that your shoes match your shirt!
Heather - I'm learning the "easy day" concept myself, and here nearly two years since I retired, I'm trying to give myself room to have down days. Yesterday was one for me, and I didn't feel guilty once! Baby steps. Hope you're feeling better!
KJ - I'm sorry you had to shut down for the week, and so agree that the little ones are so scary when they get sick. Many good thoughts headed that way for your health as well as your kids.
Kelly W. - Welcome!
Headed to the dentist this morning for teeth cleaning. Any time I have an appointment, it's unnerving. Any appointment, seriously. Makes me all wobbly time-wise. Hard to think of anything else. I was hoping that retiring would stop that, but no, not so much. The fretting about the time starts when I wake up and doesn't stop until I pull into their parking lot.
For the first time in years, though, I've also averaged more than seven hours of sleep per night for the last two weeks. It helps everything in my life, from my mood to my thought processes. It's been wonderful. Also seems to be helping my blood pressure and my resting heart rate, which is back down to 73 this morning.
Onward and upward, kids, time to jump in the shower.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR4 -
Ahhh, Machka! Lovely photo, and I agree with everyone who said you look great in pink.
Thanks, Kelly! I did 2 hard things in the last week - found a bunch of receipts to turn in for work expenses, and navigated a sprawling, baffling university medical center with my brother so he could see his orthopedist in follow up. Both were challenging and both are accomplished, if not easily. I have feared failure my entire life, which is one the reasons I procrastinate and self-sabotage. If I had a choice of one fault I could rid myself of, I believe I would choose that one. Get rid of the fear of failure.
Love to you all

KJ Sorry you had to shut down. Hope you all feel better!
Annie in Delaware0 -
Allie ... you're not just a good grandma, you're a good person. Your family is blessed to have you involved in their lives.
KJ ... so sorry the little ones are coming down with Covid. A good idea to shut down and not only let the germs settle, but for you to get some rest too. If your head cold/suspected covid is like my son's, you will hopefully be feeling much better in a few days.
Machka ... congratulations on the run!
Welcome ... to Kelly W and others I may have missed.
Once again I am starting the new year with a resolve to become decluttered and more organized. I'm using the same declutter mission I've used for years so, yes, the same utensil drawer has been cleaned out gain. Hoping I can progress further along this year. Have also decided to try a program that has you "deep cleaning" for just 10 minutes every day. I think it might be based on the Fly-Lady's program. Some of it has made sense, but some of it just ain't gonna happen. There is no such thing as pulling out my range and cleaning behind it in 10 minutes. Same with the refrigerator. But I do like breaking down big tasks into manageable chunks.
There are so many things that need done around the house and now that I'm retired I want to tackle them all. My knees, hips and back aren't in agreement. So I'm having to do things slowly. Not my forte.
Tomorrow, I see my primary care doctor and already know that we will be talking about cholesterol. My pre-appointment labs indicate that coming off of the statin allowed my cholesterol to sky-rocket. This is not a surprise to me. I was supposed to up my exercise and instead I broke my leg. Doesn't help that my go-to comfort food is cheese. Fortunately, I have a good relationship with my doctor and we'll work through this too. Otherwise, my weight is slightly less and the leg is healing. Just working on endurance/strength and then I may be able to increase activity/exercise.

Mary thanks for the heads up about keep moving. So far I have not contracted virus as far as I know.
I saw how much starting to do more movement helped DH. He was sitting around all day. He was getting worse and worse. Now he tries to walk daily. The only draw back because of our weather (even with the uptick in temps. still have to watch out for icy sidewalks) he goes to the Mall or a building downtown. He is not one to walk Drew. I feel better because I was able to start walking her outside again because of our better weather. I think walking DrewB has helped me stay healthy.
There is a Kindergarten class in Wis that is strictly outside. No Covid cases and little other illnesses.5
