Met with my doctor yesterday and was pretty good. My cholesterol will be addressed with medication for the time being until I can get back to intentional exercise. Because I'm on blood thinners, I am not allowed to take anti-inflammatory medication and I am hurting. We discussed natural methods of reducing inflammation and besides dietary changes/add-ons, she mentioned cider vinegar and turmeric. She recommended cider vinegar in liquid form and turmeric in capsules. Anyone have experience with either of these and/or recommendations?

Getting colder today and anticipating heavy snow through Monday. I'll be staying inside!

I have tried turmeric twice. Both times it made my joints hurt way more than without it! It helps a lot of people, I am not one of them.

Dropped off yogi at the vets this morning to have his growth removed. No long walks for about 10 days, yogi is going to die not being able to walk!!!!!

Michele, has Vince been evaluated by a pulmonary specialist? He may need to use some kind of nebulizer or inhaler.

I’m spending the night with my dad tonight. He is much improved and making some progress with the PT. He still spends a lot of time sleeping, but he did that before he fell. This place makes him get dressed and sit in a chair most of the day. They do not encourage staying in bed. He has a very comfy reclining wheel chair like thing to sit in.

We are expecting snow and ice tomorrow night. Maybe it’s selfish of me, but I’m glad my mother has volunteered for long term duty so she can be the one snowed in the rehab facility with Daddy. He will be more comfortable with that as well.

Chantal, On a whim, I posted my broken pieces of glass on Freecycle, and a very grateful artist took it all. Most gratifying.

Barbie, the picture in my mind of you and Jake singing to each other made my day. Happy Anniversary to the two of you! :)

pip – that looks NASTY! Glad you took Yogi to the vet

katie – right now Vince uses an inhaler (I forget for what). The only thing I can think of is that he may have to use it more often. Let’s hope (and this is terrible) that if you are snowed in, I do feel it is for the best that your mom is with your dad.

A challenging ride today ... but we got there in the end. :)

For newcomers or others, my husband and I are cyclists. Road cyclists. :)

    :)Rori, Happy Birthday

:) Today is our 33rd anniversary. Every day is a celebration for us so we won't do anything special today. We sang to each other this morning.

Got a question. For years now (yes, years) Vince has been having this mucus buildup. He says it’s in his sinuses and he has to cough, that breaks it up. Well, our GP gave him this and that, nothing helped. So now he’s going for allergy shots (since he is allergic to cats). I don’t think they’re helping. I don’t like the sound when he coughs to break the phlegm up. Has anyone else had something like this?

    Michele NC

    Is he a smoker?

    Does he use nasal spray?

Has he been back to his GP?

Has he asked his GP to refer him to an ENT specialist?

    Has he tried garlic pills?

I also tried turmeric with poor results.

But apparently they must help some people.

Happy Belated Birthday Rori! Sounds like a lovely day, and nice to get the POA done.
Happy Anniversary Barbie and Jake! Love that you sing to each other!
Far, far too many posts that I commented on mentally, unfortunately, none of those mental notes made it onto the page.... And no real time to comment tonite either. Just know that I'm there with you!
Congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

Happy Saturday morning, afternoon or evening as the case may be,

It's just now dawn, and snowing in Arkansas, but don't think this round is going to stick - it's one degree above freezing, so the roads will be dry, most likely. However, it appears the storm will be circling around and coming back to us about noon.

Sounds like a good day to have a fire in the fireplace, and hope my husband's willing to get one going for me and Egg (the cat). I just took him his third cup of coffee. He loves a weekend morning where he can stay in bed, drink coffee, and doodle around on the Internet... I'm happy to take him coffee as long as he wants it, he deserves that "me time."

It's going to be a good day. Hope yours is, was or will be.

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR

Tea for me, rather than coffee, but the sentiment stands:

East Coast. Tonga is to the north-east of us.

We're about 50 metres above sea level so at this point we should be all right.

It should have started by now but I can't hear the waves so I don't think the water is coming in very high. At least not yet.

UPDATE: Yogi’s nipple is all gone. Before and after. An only do 1 mile walks for 10 days they said. It’s gonana kill him. Can’t do 5 and 8 mile alternating walks… 1 mile is a tease.

By the way, that nipple didn’t seem to bother him at all, no pain or anything
