Met with my doctor yesterday and was pretty good. My cholesterol will be addressed with medication for the time being until I can get back to intentional exercise. Because I'm on blood thinners, I am not allowed to take anti-inflammatory medication and I am hurting. We discussed natural methods of reducing inflammation and besides dietary changes/add-ons, she mentioned cider vinegar and turmeric. She recommended cider vinegar in liquid form and turmeric in capsules. Anyone have experience with either of these and/or recommendations?
Getting colder today and anticipating heavy snow through Monday. I'll be staying inside!

I have tried turmeric twice. Both times it made my joints hurt way more than without it! It helps a lot of people, I am not one of them.

Dropped off yogi at the vets this morning to have his growth removed. No long walks for about 10 days, yogi is going to die not being able to walk!!!!!4 -
Michele, has Vince been evaluated by a pulmonary specialist? He may need to use some kind of nebulizer or inhaler.
I’m spending the night with my dad tonight. He is much improved and making some progress with the PT. He still spends a lot of time sleeping, but he did that before he fell. This place makes him get dressed and sit in a chair most of the day. They do not encourage staying in bed. He has a very comfy reclining wheel chair like thing to sit in.
We are expecting snow and ice tomorrow night. Maybe it’s selfish of me, but I’m glad my mother has volunteered for long term duty so she can be the one snowed in the rehab facility with Daddy. He will be more comfortable with that as well.

Chantal, On a whim, I posted my broken pieces of glass on Freecycle, and a very grateful artist took it all. Most gratifying.
Barbie, the picture in my mind of you and Jake singing to each other made my day. Happy Anniversary to the two of you!

Barbi - Happy anniversary!!
All of you experiencing severe weather please stay safe.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA1 -
pip – that looks NASTY! Glad you took Yogi to the vet
katie – right now Vince uses an inhaler (I forget for what). The only thing I can think of is that he may have to use it more often. Let’s hope (and this is terrible) that if you are snowed in, I do feel it is for the best that your mom is with your dad.

A challenging ride today ... but we got there in the end.
For newcomers or others, my husband and I are cyclists. Road cyclists.

Got a question. For years now (yes, years) Vince has been having this mucus buildup. He says it’s in his sinuses and he has to cough, that breaks it up. Well, our GP gave him this and that, nothing helped. So now he’s going for allergy shots (since he is allergic to cats). I don’t think they’re helping. I don’t like the sound when he coughs to break the phlegm up. Has anyone else had something like this?
Michele NC
Is he a smoker?
Does he use nasal spray?
Has he been back to his GP?
Has he asked his GP to refer him to an ENT specialist?
Has he tried garlic pills?

I also tried turmeric with poor results.
But apparently they must help some people.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU. Your kind birthday wishes have given me another reason to smile.
It was a good day. An authentic-to-me day. My niece and her partner made late lunch of butternut squash soup and grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. Chai tea to drink. It was snowing lightly when I got there. We talked for 3 hours about all kinds of heavy, light and in-between stuff. Signed my POAs, and I was able to articulate some logistics to them about where I'm keeping documents. We have great alignment of values and interests. I am older, and have no kids. They were born in the mid-70's and have frayed relationships with their parents. So, I am blessed to be the recipient of their abundant kindness and love. 🧡
By the time I left, there was over 2 inches of snow on the ground and on my car. Like the seasoned Coloradans we are, in a jiffy they had their steep driveway shoveled, and I had my car brushed off. It was a snowy, sloshy drive home. I hit the typical Friday-afternoon-getaway-to-the-mountains -traffic, which added another challenge to the drive. But even in spite of that, it was a good day.
Barbie: Happy anniversary to you and Jake, and many, many more.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Happier January 2022
15: Eat healthy food which really nourishes you today. Made batch of brown rice, finished artichoke, tomorrow will be snow pea stir fry and grapefruit/avocado salad.
Joe took dogs to powerline today while I was napping after park stroll. Yay! Win-win!
Happy anniversary Barbie and Jake. Love that you sang to each other!
Heather Brr. Intrepid! Well done on the writing and the long call.
Lisa “…ignoring evidence I don’t want to hear…” I resemble that remark. Sorry you went through health storm clouds but glad you found the silver lining. Wish the SSA had a mechanism for you to scan those originals into your SSA account instead. If the mortgage banks can… Know you’ll keep copies to make it a little easier if the returns are lost in the snail mail. [shudder]
Annie well done on adding marching to your routine. Do you do any upper back exercises?
Debbie, I remember American Canyon area with fondness. South Vallejo not so much.
Vicki Brava for continuing your daily gym visit and adding the treadmill minutes. Does your DH meet you there?
Beth I’ve heard that in order for turmeric to be absorbed it should be combined with black pepper/piperine? And choose your source carefully, Consumer Reports found some to be tainted with heavy metals. CR had no concern about Laxmi, Spice Islands, Sadaf, Simply Organic, Badia, but cautioned against Kirkland, Morton & Bassett, McCormick and LaFlor. Good advice to Annie.
Welcome @chantalboam ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale? I’m an only child too and at 72 am still discovering how that affects my social maturity. Recognizing is a first step but true change is hard, I guess. Haven’t been too successful yet
SuebDew that was a kindness. Well done.
Michele that makes Dentists 5, us zero. WMP=wetting my pants (from laughing so hard).
Pip Ow ow OW!!! Poor Yogi!
Kay thanks for sharing the news about your dad. Sounds like he is in the right place.
Rori ((hugs)) to your niece and partner. The family we make…
Gorgeous day today, clear, blue, bright and highs in the mid-50’s. First in a forecast string of nearly a week of good weather. Now to unshackle from the laptop and get outside and enjoy!
Lighter, lovelies!

Happy Belated Birthday Rori! Sounds like a lovely day, and nice to get the POA done.
Happy Anniversary Barbie and Jake! Love that you sing to each other!
Far, far too many posts that I commented on mentally, unfortunately, none of those mental notes made it onto the page.... And no real time to comment tonite either. Just know that I'm there with you!
Congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those needing them and welcome to the newbies!

So we're under a tsunami warning from the Tonga volcano. I think that's the first time I've seen a tsunami warning here.

Happy Saturday morning, afternoon or evening as the case may be,
It's just now dawn, and snowing in Arkansas, but don't think this round is going to stick - it's one degree above freezing, so the roads will be dry, most likely. However, it appears the storm will be circling around and coming back to us about noon.
Sounds like a good day to have a fire in the fireplace, and hope my husband's willing to get one going for me and Egg (the cat). I just took him his third cup of coffee. He loves a weekend morning where he can stay in bed, drink coffee, and doodle around on the Internet... I'm happy to take him coffee as long as he wants it, he deserves that "me time."
It's going to be a good day. Hope yours is, was or will be.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
Tea for me, rather than coffee, but the sentiment stands:

East Coast. Tonga is to the north-east of us.
We're about 50 metres above sea level so at this point we should be all right.
It should have started by now but I can't hear the waves so I don't think the water is coming in very high. At least not yet.

UPDATE: Yogi’s nipple is all gone. Before and after. An only do 1 mile walks for 10 days they said. It’s gonana kill him. Can’t do 5 and 8 mile alternating walks… 1 mile is a tease.
3 -
By the way, that nipple didn’t seem to bother him at all, no pain or anything2
