Michele... that is TOTALLY IT! I forget that I'm supposed to "lie" and can't come up with anything!

Machka... I'm not good at being vague either. Ask anyone who knows me. I am up front, in your face. I just don't know how to do it. I never learned that one. Freddy is being very patient, trying to teach me.

Well... back to work this week. LOTS to catch up on. It's so hard to work with the grands here, but I do love having them here, even when they're "sick".

    Good morning ladies!
I did my two minutes of elliptical and four minutes of marching and yoga. Yay!

I had a bad cookie binge last night. Disappointing, looking back. Sunday nights are a weak spot. I need to figure out a better eating plan than a big Sunday lunch then skip supper. I should have eaten something healthy even if I did go over calories because the alternative seems to be cookies for dinner. Sad face.

I have an errand for DH this morning. I plan to get it done early so that I can go to yoga.

We are looking for a puppy. Our veterinarian’s office suggested a different breed than a Keeshond. Over the years Schooner had several serious health problems. The veterinarian’s office has given us a referral to a local breeder that raises poodle pups. We haven’t seen them yet. I am hoping for a smart & healthy puppy.

M – the problem is that we WOULDN’T have spoken to each other. At least not yet. I wouldn’t say something until I knew that we were in agreement with our story. See, you talked about not going to your sister’s. In this case we hadn’t talked to get our story straight. Now we did, but not at the time. I just hesitate to say something unless I know that we’re in agreement.

Tracey – when MIL was in the Alzheimer's unit (she just had dementia), I got awful good at the “is that so? Tell me more” “Really????” I remember one time my father needed a new winter coat so I got one for him. A heavy one but I knew that he’d never accept it unless I “lied” and told him it was on sale. Yup, right! Amazing dream

Penny – do you get a lot of black ice up there? If you do, glad you have studded tires. I know when we lived in the Poconos, they knew how to take care of the roads. Here? What a joke! But then again, there isn’t much of a call to plow these roads so the people aren’t used to it.

Allie – good for you girl having Tom maybe pay the fees! I am so proud of how far you’ve come from the gal who used to let Tom run over her.

Minicooper – I’m not good at lying, either. And thinking up a lie on the fly – forget it. Unless, that is, if lying is for the good

Rebecca – I’ve also heard of someone being “not the brightest crayon in the box” “not the sharpest tool in the shed” “the elevator doesn’t go to the top” “all the lights are on but no body’s home” “one can short of a 6-pack”. Why don’t you ask your son if he’d like the shelf thing? You don’t know, you might be insulting him by giving it back to him. But on the other hand, explain that you were thinking that he might like it for athena’s things. Let him tell you what to do. Personally, I think it’s a very nice thought. But you never know how people might feel about it. He might prefer you have it, he might like it for himself, you never know

Allie – why would Tom send you a picture of Homer? Is he thinking custody? Speaking of Homer, wasn’t it him that the vet was thinking that he had doggie dementia? How did that work out?

Yes, I love all those sayings too! I think Queen does a song about some of them💖👍. Yes I need to talk to son about it. I'm in no rush, maybe this summer. Maybe one of those things that I will mention if and whenever they come visit us.

My home is getting very minimalistic looking. In the entryway (from our front door area) to the living room, we used to have Lee's recliner right there. It was on one side of our couch, and our little loveseat couch was on the other side. Now I have moved the recliner to where the loveseat was, and the loveseat has traveled to our library area. There is a "stamp" of where the recliner was on the carpet that I have been working on, but I think if I vacuum it every week it should diminish. Lee says it will stay there as a reminder of my change! He can totally be a stick in the mud right????
Eldest son here still has more LEGO to pack, but its only as a precaution if, while he's on Guam, we have to move. With rentals you just don't know. I just said if you pack it then they'll be the way you want them. We we pack them, the first couple will be packaged, then the others well put in a box, you just don't know! So he's packing them up! Lol!
Yesterday I cooked a prime roast from about 12 noon to 5 pm! I had the oven on 325' so it was low and slow. The last hour I did "dismantle" it, taking the roast out to rest on the counter, making gravy, and cooking the carrots a bit more in a pot in the roasting beef broth. Lee had two plates full, son and I had one. It was yummy! Of course I had ketchup on my slices of roast, the way I was raised, which Lee always says eeww! 😂. I had a small bowl of broth, and buttered a piece of hearty grain bread, slapped on the roast and dipped it in. Heaven! Didn't really like the potatoes, but ate the carrots. I was also raised to put ketchup on my corned beef and cabbage. When I make some steamed cabbage, with a piece of kielbasa sausage and maybe some baby potatoes, I put ketchup on the side to dip each bite in.😁
I'm making a little toy corner for Athena, in the library. It just has a basket of stuffed animals and a car, but hey its her corner.👍💖
I am going to move all the albums over to my side, and keep some of the coloring books we've collected near her corner. I have puzzles on my side, and taking some of the board games from Lee's computer room closet to by my puzzles. It drives me nuts that we have things scattered so!
It should be interesting when son leaves how much $ we'll save on groceries!
    Have a good day everyone!

Had a message from my son today, telling us that he's glad we decided to postpone the haggis, because Bea tested positive today! Edie is at last negative, after 8 days! If she is still negative tomorrow morning she will be able to go back to school. Poor son and DDIL, now have a 5 year off school for another week. She obviously needs more looking after, and they have to juggle their work schedules again.
Unfortunately, this is not a time we can help out! :o
She has a fever and a cough, but is OK.

DH has new, slightly stronger, glasses ordered. The guy adjusted the damage to the old ones that Bea created.

The cleaner came and the thermostat went weird. I thought she must have turned it off by accident, but I think it just ran out of battery. I fixed it with new batteries and frantic pressing! o:)

I've been playing with my new app, called Canva. Did an Instagram post with it and I've made a card for DH for Valentine's Day. Just got to print it.

I'm thinking of entering for an Art Club TV programme run by Grayson Perry. The first theme is Love. I had an idea, and I've been looking for design ideas on Google. I won't copy anything, but need some kind of template as I definitely can't draw! Will play with it soon. I bought a new, quality, drawing pad. Will try oil pastels, or drawing and acrylic wash. You have to photograph it and do a short video explaining it.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I get the same reaction when I put horseradish on my roast beef- only way I eat it, dh doesn't like it unless it is mixed with a lot of sourcream- Former father in law is the one who got me hooked on the horseradish- we would go out for prime rib when we would go visit them in Reno-the casino had great deals on it back then. I was not a fan so used the horseradish to cover the taste, now I really like it-
love wasabi on my sushi too(one eat veggie or cooked sushi-no raw fish for me)

Search online for removing the crease from the recliner- I remember seeing something about maybe a damp towel and steam iron- sorry, can't remember right now(tea hasn't kicked in)

    EDIT- looked it up:

Simply place an ice cube (or several ice cubes, depending on the size of the indentation) on the area you're trying to revive. Let the ice melt in the dented area. The carpet will soak up the water and begin to rise. Use a sponge to blot away extra water, and then gently lift the indented carpet with a coin.

Poodles are one of the most intelligent dogs out there, they are very trainable

I LOVE poodles. I grew up with them and had one until my late 20's. I agree with Pip, they are very smart and easily trainable. Just be sure you are prepared for the cost of grooming if you aren't planning to do it yourself.
