Lisa thank you for your kind thoughts.
In many ways I feel DS's love standing beside me. I carried him for nine months and his love will carry me until I pass over. I think it also occurs with anyone I love. For those who are new our son died two years in July.
I recently gave the cross he wore to his brother. DS told me he wanted to be a better brother than when he was here on earth. The cross symbolizes he will be there for his brother. The cross was black with a diamond at the heart of the cross. I always thought the diamond symbolized DS spirit that is still shining despite all the outside forces and inside forces that tried to obscure its brightness. He never lost his faith despite being tortured by his mental illness.

Pip- i will let you know with most pain meds they will give you constipation ,i know only to well.. i sure hope you can get wverything taken care of..
Well i got up and got dressed..did my pills for the week and picked up some things in my bedroom ,feels like i accomplished at least a little bit.
Tomorrow will drop Carmine at school then have to go get bloodwork done and will go back and help with Miles..2 -
Kylia- it is great to see you post- thanks for the update- Missed seeing you post.
I had cataract surgery on both eyes at 50. Still wear glasses for astigmatism.
Yes, still had dull ache/pain after drops were done.
CICO- I have no problem at all with CI- many days I am under 1000 a day, I grab a little snack to get it to 1000-1100. I did 1000 cal a day for almost 2 yrs then took a few months break then got back. Still stick closer to 1000 because I worry about if I am tracking correctly(like yesterday- had imitation crab salad from the deli- tracking it could be 110 cal up to 350 cal. I have asked dh to find out as it came from his deli but he hasn't or if I forget to put something in. My problem is CO- I used to do well but never 1000 cal. out. I do zumba two nights a week and then some gardening sometimes(not much during the winter but it will pick up soon but still not 1000 calories worth). I need to find my motivation.
Intermittent fasting is pretty easy- don't eat until noon most days with no problem- yesterday it was almost 3PM before I ate anything- just plain black tea before that.
Pip- milk of magnesia works great for that- DH went 10 days without going after his first hip replacement surgery- He still has "issues" because of waiting so long- he made sure he had a bottle here after the second(and third and forth) surgeries.
Watching church now and then plan to clean out both refrigerators- really clean out, not just dump the old left overs, so I have room for stuff and can find what I need.
Other house cleaning to do but not sure how much will get done.

I’m well aware of that as well, having a pharmacy tech for a husband gives me insight. I wasn’t taking any meds at that time tho.

Hey all! Happy Sunday! I slept in a bit this morning and woke up to my son urging me out of bed with coffee so that we could watch the season finale of 1883. Well. Not spoiling anything for anyone, but crying my eyes out at 8am (over a fictional program) is NOT the way I like to start my day.
Carla- Happy belated birthday!
Kylia- hey there! So glad to hear from you! Glad you are getting your eyes taken care of and happy the vitamin D is helping with the depression. Midwest winters can make you blue, for sure! ((Hugs))
Pip- have you been able to make an appointment with a onc/gyn, yet? And UGH! Being constipated is the worst! Especially if you are a typically regular person.
Heather- Love the pic of you in the 80s! I think I would recognize you anywhere, blond or brunette. Stunning!
Julie- I struggle with staying on the CICO bus; especially in the winter. Not sure if it is the "winter blues" or my body just feeling that it needs to "feed and hibernate". I really have to push myself out the door and away from the fridge this time of year. I totally understand where you are coming from.
Rebecca- Morning calls from our kids who are far away! ((hugs)) THE BEST!
Michele- Are you in Florida, now?
I have had a funny moment with my son this morning. I mean, other than waking up to watch a show that wasn't funny and made me cry (he lives for those moments). We were talking about life and stuff and I mentioned a comment one of you ladies made and I started it with " _______, one of my friends from my 50+ group..." and he interrupted me to say, "Mom, you talk about these ladies so much, you don't have to add the phrase "from my 50+ group" after you mention them! I know that there is..." and went on to mention several of you by name and sometimes location if he couldn't remember your name. It is good to know that my kids know my friends, even if we haven't met in real life. I left my kids instructions to get in touch with you all here in case anything happens to me.
Well, I have bit more to do to be ready for the week; so I best get at it. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Well, I went to bed on time last night and that was all fine, except that every time I drifted off to sleep I woke up in the middle of a hot flash. Like, five times in a row over five hours! I'd throw off the blankets, sprawl out for the breeze from the fan, go back to sleep, get cold, pull the covers over me again, and then BAM, another one. I don't find this amusing. I finally slept for a few hours straight, but when the alarm went off I was not arising with a song in my heart and a smile upon my lips, to say the least. (grin) There was an afternoon nap.
Got about half the work done today I had planned, although I pushed making the garlic loaf to tomorrow because it takes five hours for bread and I didn't want to give up the nap. Still, I will want garlic bread Tuesday night with the Cajun shrimp fettucini alfredo, so I'll lay things out for it tonight and make it tomorrow morning when I get up. I can work on cleaning the downstairs during the rises.
I am, despite last night, feeling better every day. I have a remote appointment with my surgeon's office tomorrow morning, and I should get cleared to do all the housework I haven't been doing for the last two weeks. Which is good, since Boyfriend invited his best friend from college over to see his new house and have lunch on Sunday. It's fun for me because she is doing paleo so giving everyone really good food them can eat is a little more challenging than usual.3 -

A good portion of CO is existing. We burn calories just being and most of us will burn at least 1000.
So if you're eating 1000 calories and remaining the same weight, your CO is 1000 calories.
Things like standing rather than sitting will burn a few more calories. Walking burns more than just standing. Climbing stairs burns more than walking. But all those things increase your CO.

Kelly...I too hope that my daughter would contact you all if something should happen to me.. but i will have to write out specific instructions or it wont get done ...2 -
Kitchen fridge almost all cleaned out- just two more drawers to go(taking a break)
Crazy- had four jars of bread and butter pickles open, four jars of artichoke hearts open, two jars of dh's seaweed paste stuff. Mentioned that there were two jars, said it wasn't his fault, he opened another one because he couldn't find the other one. No comment about all the stuff I dumped/cleaned/organized.
I will do the freezer part of this fridge next week along with the other fridge in the garage- garbage is almost full and doesn't get picked up until Friday. Need room for regular garbage and kitty litter for the week. It is usually full without doing the fridge clean up.
Dinner tonight is shrimp w/ mixed veggies(zucchini, carrots, celery, snow peas,??) in a light butter garlic sauce. Need to do a lot of prep for it but should be good. Need to get the rice soaking. DH needs his rice. I will skip the rice and have more shrimp and veggies.

I didn’t have to, they made an appointment for me cuz I didn’t have one. They made it for Wednesday, we agreed that if I can’t take the pain I can go sooner. We decided I’m just going to go tomorrow.6 -

I have been feeling good so far, 2:44pm, fingers crossed. Surprised that I felt good enough to do regular cleaning of the home and I even felt good enough to spin with kirby for 10miles, I knew I could stop sooner if I couldn’t last. The pain was there but manageable, nothing serious. Yesterday I slept in the spare room cuz that bed is lower to the ground so it was easier for me to get in and out of. We will c what shakes tomorrow.

THANK YOU!!
I was just going by the actual exercise that I track and was wondering how you all could work out that much to be more than what you ate.1 -
Kylia: So good to see you posting again.
Julie: The concept of CI<CO is simple. However, the execution can be difficult 😝
Much love to all who are in extremis.

Pip, love your positive attitude and hoping you get answers and relief on Wednesday.
Beth, doesn't seem possible a year has passed already. Many hugs.
My cataract surgery on Thursday went well and at the Post Op on Friday the doctor said everything looked perfect. I have very little discomfort and am astounded at the clarity of vision I have in my right eye. I'm looking forward to the left cataract removal on March 17.

MIA for a few days and goodness gracious! A lot has happened.
Pip, I’m so glad you decided to go tomorrow. It sounds urgent. Prayers for complete healing.
Rita, hugs, hugs, and more hugs.
Beth, prayers as you navigate all with your parents and the anniversary of Ian’s passing, it will be easier on your parents once they are back under the same roof. Thanks for asking about my parents. My father is doing better, which is making him rebellious, like refusing to use the walker because he doesn’t “need” it. I left Mama with him alone Friday and Saturday night. I am back tonight to deal with his constant up and down. She is asleep in her bed on the opposite side of the house. I hope she can rest. Hospice prescribed some sleeping pills but we refuse to give them to him after reading their side effects.
Happy birthday, Minicooper!
Welcome to the new folks. Please do join us in the March thread.6 -

Hi Gals,
There have been a few comments about the CICO and tracking in general those dove tail with a question I am having trouble with…. So first “the rest of the story” I started here in 2014 and over the next couple of years lost about 30 pounds and then just got “tired, frustrated” with logging, probably I hit a plateau and there was not enough motivation to power through…. So I took a break, not from coming in to the forum but from logging I gained back about 8 pounds but kept that 23ish pounds off for the last 6ish years .. I have made the changes to my lifestyle and eating style to hold here. But I am not at goal, and not really pleased with how I look, so I am back to logging. This time I am paying a bit more attention to the nutrition instead of just the total calories. Hoping that will help me tweak this a bit to give me the success I want. I am not a true vegetarian but eat fish maybe once a week, and any of the “meats” once a week. And the meat is in small quantities.. There are a ton of reasons I have made this choice, but the over whelming one is I don’t like the taste of meat and while I like fish more it is kind take it or leave it. As a result I have a VERY hard time hitting the protein numbers without going over the calories; I am often and just about 50% of what MFP has set for me. And I really don’t want to go the protein powder direction (a combo of $$$ and the amount of processing)
So my question is anyone else a full or part time vegetarian and if so do you meet the protein numbers? And what have you found that you fit into your diet that helps?
Thinking of you all, and hoping for a happy healthy day

my friend messaged me and wanted to go walk. Went to the park and walked for almost an hour and a half- made sure to get our 10,000 steps in.
Having dinner now(had dinner just about done when she asked me to walk) garlic shrimp stir fry with broccoli, zucchini, peppers, carrots, snow peas and cabbage. Beings I did the long walk, added 1/2 cup of rice with it.
Was at 450cal. for the day before dinner so have plenty to use up before bed. Didn't eat until 2PM
Zumba tomorrow3 -
Margaret – what a beautiful thought about the cross. What a lovely thing you did!
Met my friend for lunch. Won’t be counting calories today. Had a veggie casadia (?sp) then this chocolate thing for dessert. Well, tomorrow is another day and I know I’ll get back on the wagon
KJ – here in FL to finish taking care of the storm door. Will leave March 16 (boo)
Betsy – glad your surgery went well.
Watched Forest Gump. Now need to take a shower.
Hae a great evening everyone.
