I wish I could figure this out for me. I can only guess that I need to exercise more because I can't eat much less(won't let me track if I go under 1000) and I can not seem to loose any weight.
I have tried to eat a little more but that is hard to get my mind to allow that. Don't want to gain more weight. I can't even remember eating more than 1200 in a day. Maybe during those six months after covid/dad passing when I quit everything but even then, only gained a pound or two.
I tend to stick at 1000 on days I don't do any exercise and 1100 -1150 on days I do zumba or walk for 90 min. Scale is just not moving. Even if I could loose 2lbs and be under 150 that would be wonderful- just to see it move.
When you log do you measure, with a food scale, everything you eat/drink that has calories? If you are doing that, I really don't have any advice for you, sorry. If you aren't logging that way, I would recommend that.

Barbie— Thank you for the information about your wonderful poodles. We have been looking at Moyen Poodles. DH says Moyen means middle. We met a medium sized gray poodle at the breeder’s home and were charmed by her. She will be having puppies at the end of March. DH is hoping that we will be able to get one of those puppies. We live in a neighborhood with lots of good places where we can walk & play with a dog. We have a lawn area for a dog at home and local parks close by. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for one of those puppies. 🐕🦺 🐩. Wish us luck.
Moyen is a French word for middle or medium.1 -

Also try adding in a 30-60 min walk on the days you don't do Zumba or other exercise .2 -
Did Cathe Drill Max DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Firm Low Impact DVD
Debbie – I don’t keep track of exercise calories. I just try to eat at 1250 calories and anything else I consider a bonus. I only use measuring cups. Not sure why. I’m just not much of a meat eater so I’m not really concerned about that
Making this lap blanket for this lady here at the condo. She’s real nice, remembers MIL. I would guess she’s in her late 80’s. She gave me a mug (I think it was one she had) with some candies in it. Personally, I didn’t care for most of the candies and just threw them out. But I wouldn’t tell her that. Anyway, I ordered more of the yarn from Amazon and it should be here tomorrow or Wed.
After exercise helped Vince by cleaning the molding so he could paint it. I was wanting to help him but he told me (and this is true) that there really isn’t room for two people. So I went to a pickleball thing here. I know this one lady is trying to start it here.
Leah – welcome
Went to the pool – I REFUSE to go home white! Then I needed to change my voicemail password so did that. Made brownies for Vince and stuffing for him for dinner tonight and the next few nights while I finish the sweet potatoes.
On the box for antihistamine it says “can cause drowsiness. Does just the opposite for me. At 3am I’m watching reruns of Mary Tyler Moore...lol

Well, my soup worked. Couldn't find the meatballs in the freezer so I guess I must've eaten them last month! I just sauteed the onions, garlic paste and mushrooms in butter, with the spoonful of red pepper bruschetta, 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce, and 2 cups of chicken broth. I boiled water and had some sausage ravioli that you just boil for 4 min, so that was good. Just mixed it into the sauce.
Opened my eating window at 11:30 am and shut it at 1:30 pm. Easy peasy.
Thought about me joining TOPS and though socially it might be good, I do recall the rollercoaster ride I put myself on weekly with the scale. Also they probably wouldn't be as accepting with me being an intermittent faster. So I will look into other avenues for social interaction.👍💖

Weird, close to no pain. Hmmmm.1 -
Well today was a strange day. My plan was to walk enough so i could have pain so i could then go to the doc earlier than my scheduled appointment. After 1 mile of walking w/purpose no pain, i even jogged for a bit…nothing. Come to find out i couldn’t go earlier than Wednesday the way i was told, so we went out to go walking again and if i felt pain i was going to go to the ER at the right hospital (Fresno community vs clovis community). We ended up going 5 more miles, … nothing, no pain to speak of…..really weird. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that i can walk normally, not hunched over. Oh well.. got home and kirby is wanting to now get a Lexus or Mercedes’. He is in the mindset of if I have something, he wants me to ride in luxury. I don’t need a fancy car, I’m happy w/what we have. Anyway, i was upstairs taking a lil nap (which i never do) and i got.a call about my appointment on Wednesday, the ER made me an appointment for the wrong place. So i have an appointment for the right doc on wed. They answered my question as to why they didn’t just take the mass out if i was in so much pain. They said cuz if it was cancerous and they did try to take it out, it could spread to other parts of my body and that would be bad. Our thinking was as to why i wasn’t hurting was because i had another poop this morning, SCORE! And maybe the mass moved from where it was sitting, like no longer on a nerve which was making me hurt so much. Oh well, we will c on Wednesday. Hopefully no pain till then.10

I don't weigh every single thing but most I do with my digital scale. A few things I guess at , that is why I stick at 1000 cal for the day, in case I am off on my guestimate. Things like crackers or chips, I count out to make sure I don't eat too much. Those are very easy to eat too many for me.
My one food that I don't weigh/measure and I know I should is my peanut butter. That is my late night snack- a nice spoon full if I am feeling hungry at bed time- I can't sleep if I am hungry-keeps me up until I do eat something, even if it is just a few crackers. Again- another reason to keep at 1000cal.
95% of what I drink I do not count because it is plain black or plain herbal tea( I drink hot tea all day, every day). Occasionally I will have coffee w/ creamer and I do track that. Don't care for juice much, plus, anything cold gives me instant asthma attack(that includes drinks/yogurts/ ice cream or any cold food.-have to have hot tea with any of those things)
Machka -I know I need to add more exercise in. Hoping my friend will want to start walking again now that the weather is better and time change is in a few weeks.
I used to walk by myself, when I was really motivated. Lost that motivation and haven't found new ones yet. When I was really motivated- I was up super early, middle of winter, on the treadmill at 5am in the cold garage for two hours and then when the triplets would get here, another two hours pushing them around the neighborhood. I couldn't wait to get walking.
Michele- I guess being "wired backwards" isn't as uncommon as I thought. After one time of being up all night- you make sure to read all the labels and suffer a bit with symptoms instead of risking an all nighter of old tv shows.
I track my exercise calories but never use any of them, don't even use all my regular ones most days. I do track because it gives me a little leway in my sodium/sugar once in a while.

You hit the biggies. Most spoonfuls of peanut butter I’ve seen are 1.5-2 servings, so 300-400 calories. Chips and crackers are another biggie. Normally the nutrition given is for about XX chips….the reason for the about is that the actual nutrition is by weight and the serving is normally less than the number of chips you think it is.
None of this matters if you are happy where you’re at. If you are struggling to understand why you aren’t losing, not weighing everything that goes in your mouth is a great place to start. Even if you do it for a few days to see how close you are guessing, it can be helpful. I wouldn’t worry about the plain tea either.

I didn't know about the chips/crackers being different counting vs weighing- will have to weight them next time.
Peanut butter- I have cut back on that- just once, twice a week at most and try to do it just on days when I exercise. I will need to measure that and really track it instead of guessing.3 -
Tina, I actually bought my father a bottle of Night Time Sleep Aid pills at Dollar General. Active ingredient same as Benadryl. Then I googled and it said don’t use without consulting your doctor if you have COPD. So we were afraid to give it to him, too. I think part if the problem is Mama giving him meds at night he should be taking in the morning. She was giving him Prednisone and Flomax at night. Both need to be given in the morning. He sleeps like a baby all morning long after partying all night. Hopefully we will get it straightened out. I can’t take it for much longer, and I know she must be exhausted. She slept from 8 last night to after 9 this morning,
Pip, we need you to check in!

I'm a big believer in weighing everything. I agree-peanut butter is a killer-it is so easy to go over. I typically measure everything in grams. I will use counting for chips if I am out (like at a mexican restaurant and can't say no to chips and salsa). Otherwise-they are on the scale and entered.
Pip-you are keeping a positive attitude. I think it is important to get things checked out thoroughly prior to just jumping to surgery. I am glad you got some relief regardless of the reason! (and let's be serious, a good pooh is one of life's pleasures!)
RvRita-prayers for you and your son. I can't imagine. I got ticked at my son and dil for not responding to a text for 24 hours (and it was a question about something for their kids!). But to have no idea where they may be . . . .
Benadryl makes me sleep but I know folks it has the opposite impact. When I was taken off all thyroid medication years ago for testing I hit a weird stage where I was exhausted and yet could not sleep. Endo recommended I take Benadryl clear (no dyes, etc.) Discovered then it was a sleep aid. Some research that chronic use may not be good (something about mental functioning of some sort).
Kylie-good to hear from you. Was thinking I was going to have to try to track down your mower shop!
Well, I know some of you think this is strange, but I am going to get ironing finished. Also need to figure out what I'm wearing tomorrow-going to Columbus to meet with some legislators.
Have a good finish to February!
Take care all,

Kim: I had difficulty meeting my protein goals. I find adding lentils/quinoa etc to soups increases my totals. Also I keep frozen cooked prawns in the freezer. They are surprising high in protein for a low calorie count, and no fat content.1

Barbie—Thank you for our February Thread.
DH & I are in Illinois, near our daughter. Our home in Oregon is being cared for by good friends. I am grateful for them & I expect they are also feeding our
hummingbirds while we are away.
