🥳 Happy Birthday 🥳
To all our March ladies.
My DYD is 52 on Mon 7. She’s in good company 😂4 -
Accountability:Chose well: Joe, readings, BP, steps >7400, CI<CO, CI<250<CO.
Bonus: watched Bethany Ash Wednesday, just one thing: nope
Workin’ on it: [color=green141.5!!![/color], H20x3 , active 3:13
Mindful March
3: Start today by appreciating your body and that you’re alive
4: Notice how you speak to yourself and choose to use kind words.
Blessings upon blessings. Stopped in the man cave for good morning kiss. Joe said “Sit down? I’ve saved something for you!” It was a documentary on the Great Plains (Amazon Prime?) In one segment, a small herd of bison was released into a north Iowa Nature Conservancy reserve. Couldn’t help laughing for joy seeing the (relatively :> ) tiny calves bound out of the trailer and into the corral, just like young goat kids. “I knew you’d like it.” Way more important than him being able to remember my favorite colors and that I prefer dark chocolate
THEN he offered to take the dogs and me to the beach. Best morning ever
Ended the day at T’s for gal’s movie night with C. Lots of laughter at dinner. Good movie (Respect). Birthday bonus treats. Still managed to hit CI<CO goals. Steps creeping back towards goal. Comeback/recovery sure takes longer when you’re a year older ;}
Carol, I wrote this before I read your post: ”Anyone have a hearing test lately? Struggled to hear the low conversations in the movie, had to keep asking T to turn the TV up, then back down again for the loud music. Ugh. Gonna have to research audiologists. “ So disappointed your ENT didn’t listen well to you. Of course your blocked ear feeling is in your head, physically, really. SMH.
Allie on call didn’t pass notes on to dr, whose office sent rx to mail order instead of local pharmacy? SMH. As for Carmine, I cannot imagine anything would have caused me to threaten my grandma. for you and their family. I do remember Joyce and was sad to hear of her passing.
KJ Sting! Woweee!!!
Margaret healing vibrations oxygenating red blood cells. Wow. Thanks for your reflections on fear.
Tina “ hearing lost… intentional”
Annie when the Dr asked for you were you able to speak to him/her? Believe you are on the right track and your Mom is not able to report accurately. ((hugs))
Tracey “Maybe Carmine has the wrong therapist.” Good point! the mugs, especially the gnomes.
Katla have the puppies been born? Now THAT is exciting!!!
Okie and Kylia I think Flea, Kay and Machka are right, Jrsmom in TX is Amber, not Joyce. Hope she’s ok.
Michele I really dislike your Dr’s advice about your leg pain. Is there any swelling or redness? Don’t want to scare you but I had similar pain in my left leg after our long drive/hell move. Local urgent care sent me home with the Tylenol suggestion. A week later it hurt so bad I could not put any weight on it. Urgent care said we had to go to the ER, 25 miles north. Ended up in hospital with “lots o’ clots” and on blood thinners for 6 months. If you can tolerate it, aspirin works on inflammation, Tylenol does not. BUT you can’t take aspirin with blood thinners.
Kylia 3 crowns 2 cataract surgeries plumber and water heater? OWW!
Heather “if you don't want to do it and you don't have to do it, don't do it.” Oh yes. Yes!
Machka thanks for the link to Joyce’s last post. Let right into a post by Lenora, who hasn’t posted for a long while either.
Pip (hugs and healing)
Flea prayers continue. (gentle hugs).
Joe’s up, time for shift change!
Lighter, lovelies!

February wasn't brilliant. Too busy! March is starting slowly as well. Lunches, meetings, etc. etc. eat into my walking time and the long commute really wears me out.
I put in a full 5-day week in the office for the first time since the beginning of December and I'm tired. We don't have much planned this weekend, except for the garden and cycling.

Beautiful sky this morning!
Joyce loved her cats and singing. I do remember her. So sad.
Hoping Pip is doing well.
Better get my day going!

Thanks for correcting me Ladies. I now remember that JrsMom was Amber. I also remember Joyce after your memories.
Have a great Friday.

Pip - hope all went well and you're resting and recovering.
I only vaguely remember Joyce - I was just joining all of you about that time, but am sorry she died. I also remember JRsMom, her little boy was a late-in-life baby who was not little at all. He could well be six feet tall by now. One of my favorite nieces skims 6-feet tall, and at six years old, she was as tall as her mama and me (5'2").
Corey's heading for Oklahoma to fix some machinery in Okmulgee. He will probably be home late. He worries about me, so will probably call frequently on the two-hour drive there and the same coming back. I try not to chafe at the worry that he can't seem to let go; it's love at its deepest. The key thing to remember is, if these particular roles were reversed, I'd be doing the same thing for him.
Was hand-darning Corey's favorite work jacket by hand. He shredded a 5-inch wide spot on his sleeve last year, and I put an iron-on patch over it. A few days back, he snagged the iron-on patch and ripped more than half of it loose, making the rips below even worse. Going to try to darn the rest by sewing machine, as black thread on a black sleeve gives me a headache just trying to see what I'm doing!
Egg is purring on my lap, washer is swooshing a load of towels, will start the dishwasher after I finish my second cup of tea, and sitting in my office chair without pain. My world is more than OK right now.
Serenely,

2022: Be still and listen.
As you know, I've been there with the blood clots in the leg. Mine was a 17 hour flight in 2009 from Los Angeles to Melbourne (longest flight in the world at the time), sitting in the window seat squashed in beside two large guys with ocean-like bladders. I was able to get up once in the whole flight.
Calf "cramped" as the plane circled to land in Melbourne and I figured I'd walk it off. 6 weeks later I was still trying to walk it off but by then it wasn't just a pain in my calf, my whole left leg ached. About a week later, I could no longer walk and struggled to breathe.
Saw a Dr who sent me for a doppler ultrasound booked for a couple days away. That night I was in the tub looking at my legs and the left one was twice the size of the right. The next day, at noon, Rowan showed up at our cabin and told me to get into the van, he was taking me to the hospital in the next town. He told me he felt like something was really wrong and he needed to get me in. The lady in radiology did the doppler ultrasound and told me she couldn't let me leave the hospital. My left leg was so thick with clots from just above the knee down that the main veins were completely blocked and new capillaries had formed to try to circulate blood.
I was in hospital for 2 weeks and on blood thinners for a year. In that time the doctor did a whole bunch of blood tests including one which showed that I've got a genetic disorder. I'm homozygous for MTHFR (meaning that I got the genetic disorder from both parents), and I have a high homocysteine level which puts me at risk for cardiovascular disease. That combination also increases my risk of blood clots and may have the side effect of not allowing to carry a child to term, which might explain a thing or two.
For a while, I thought I came out of it with no permanent damage to my veins but recently I saw the doctor again and I've got venous insufficiency in my left leg. Not surprising, I suppose, given the clots and also given the fact that I burnt my left foot to the bone back in 2001.
Symptoms of venous insufficiency include:
https://www.healthline.com/health/venous-insufficiency
• swelling of the legs or ankles (edema)
• pain that gets worse when you stand and gets better when you raise your legs
• leg cramps
• aching, throbbing, or a feeling of heaviness in your legs
• itchy legs
• weak legs
• thickening of the skin on your legs or ankles
• skin that is changing color, especially around the ankles
• leg ulcers
• varicose veins
• a feeling of tightness in your calves
The only things in that list I don't have are weak legs, leg ulcers and varicose veins.
So speaking of sore legs, mine have been quite sore this week, especially my left leg. It has been a very humid and warm week and I've been retaining water like mad. Everything is swollen but especially my left ankle - it's swollen and red and looks awful (to me, anyway). My left leg is actually so swollen, I can't bend my knee properly.
I think this weekend will be a bit of recovery time because I'll sleep quite a bit which means my legs will be raised somewhat - or at least not down as when sitting or standing.
Cycling seems to help a bit too because I'm not putting pressure on my legs. And gardening means that I'll be moving about which helps the circulation, rather than sitting for long periods like I do in my job now.

Thank you Machka and Carol for the links.
I also saw Gloria on the mfp page. What a terrible tragedy that was.

Annie, I think you are thinking straight about getting the information straight from the cardiologist. My DH often tells me his ultrasound showed improvement but can't give me details. The cardiologist always wants to talk with me and explain the results. DH doesn't mean to mislead me but hates to face any information that shows decline. He is 81 and wants to quit having ultrasounds, won't get cataract surgery and won't get hearing aids. He says everything is a waste of time and money at his age.
Flea, thinking of you and sending healing thoughts as you deal with radiation burns and plan for the future radiation on the spine. Speedy healing to you.
Michele, Me too... was driving home on the Interstate and two huge gravel trucks were in front of me and a rock hit my windshield... couldn't use the chip repair because windshield had lots of spidery veins running through it .... New one is ordered and will be here March 15. Rats.
Pip, thinking of you and wishing you well.

Barbara, Oh yes, way more important than knowing your favorite color or that you prefer dark chocolate. Really made me smile.

Barbara-So nice to hear you had a wonderful day! It's the little things that make our lives special.
Re: sound in movies/tv shows, it's common and apparently "the way it's done" that the sound people make the dialogue lower and then crank up the music/crashes/bombings. A friend of mine told me why a few years ago, but it was too technical for me to remember. The bottom line is that it may not be our hearing. An easy "fix" is to turn on subtitles so you don't bust your eardrums when a big crash happens in the movie. When the mister watches action movies, I have to leave the room. It physically hurts my ears.
It's raining buckets today. We need it, but it sure puts a damper on my exercise plans.

I am looking forward to seeing the puppies on Sunday at 11 am. DH & I are both looking forward to it. I’m not sure whether they will be old enough for us to bring a puppy home then. ❤️🐩❤️. Mama dog is gray & we were charmed by her.4

Hoped to be able to progress with the burn pile but too windy already this morning. Just as well, best not to disrupt morning habit routine two days in a row. Next window, maybe Monday??? Whoops! Joe just asked if we couldn’t burn for even just an hour til it got too windy. Keeping to intent to encourage him in activity, dropping everything to meet him at the burn barrel. Worth a little disruption

Allie--I am trying to remember JmKmom. I remember her and her son growing so big so fast. Do you know what happen? Seems we have lost several this last year that do not post anymore and I wonder about them. I do hope they stand firm with Carmine as they have to learn the world does not revolve around them. It is not easy.
Tracey--The mugs are so cute. I agree you might benifit from a coloring book. I know when I color my mind relaxes. Great stress relief.
Flea--Sending prayers and hugs. Glad you are doing what you need to take care of yourself.
Okay now I am confused. The lady that passed away, was she the one with the young son that was growing big time, or the lady with MS who's husband liked to eat out all the time. Just saw machka's post and yes I do remember her. I wonder what happened to the lady with the young son. Thanks for sharing the obituary.
Katla--Excited for you to meet the puppies and pick out the prefect one.
So looking forward to having the weekend off and plan to do some house cleaning and work on the 4 baby blankets. Hoping we get the rain they are talking about and we need, so be a good day to stay inside. Church on Sunday and then get ready for the work week. Have a couple long days and meetings next week.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE
