Happy birthday to Machka and Debbie!

Barbie that's a good idea. I'm still getting used to being responsible for her.

I had a lovely chat with my daughter and granddaughter. They are planning to paint granddaughter’s room. Many possibilities put a smile on my face. It is a combined mom and daughter project. I hope DH will feel good enough to fly to Illinois and spend time with the kids and our daughter. I spent several weeks there and I a couple of years ago. I hope we can both do it later this year. 😊

Friend highly recommended this for my scar. When my tapes fall off then I’ll start using the oil.

YES!!! DH used that after each of his hip replacement surgeries(all four of them)- Mom used it after her shoulder surgery- really helped.

    Machka- Happy birthday.

Have to go back to the dentist tomorrow(hopefully, beings they are closed on Thursdays)- crown that they just put on popped off already.

Had won ton soup for dinner and Cold & Flu tea. Hope it calms this cough.

    Going to bed early.

Ginny - Yes that is what I mean. We have three of them and we are finding over and over that the way the previous payroll system was paying was not setup correctly and there are years and years of errors that were mostly to the employees benefits. As we’ve been trying to get the new system working properly we are reading the agreements closer and it has ended up in some lower payments for the staff. This keeps opening up grievances, so as soon as we have what we interpret the agreement to read is not how the unions interpret it so we have to change something else.

Heather - I’m happy you were able to find him.

Annie - Has the doctor offered any advice as to where to get some help in understanding dementia and what needs to happen for your Mom’s safety? It’s a very difficult thing to have to go through. Hugs to you. We took our Moms meds away very early on because she could have overdosed herself easily. I don’t know if I would trust her crossing off. She may question the crosses and take again anyway.
We were told when Moms doctor asked for a list that just because he prescribes it doesn’t mean that is all she is taking or if the prescription was filled. Also, sometimes patients don’t stop something when they are supposed to. That happened to my Dad. When he started getting very sick he and Mom hadn’t understood when the doctor told him to stop his blood pressure meds. We found out when he collapsed from low blood pressure.

Debbie - a terrible way to spend a birthday. Hope it was nice in spite of it.

    Machka - Happy Birthday

Both of us nap afterwards! I got a lecture about keeping better track of my mom's medicine. I need to learn the names. The Dr asked what she was taking and I didn't really know. I thought he would know because he prescribed it! I can design a better sheet for her to cross off her doses, with the meds for am and pm listed.
Then we can take the sheet with us.

I have a list of medications for my husband on my computer system and his so that if we go to the doctor, I can access it from my phone. I've also printed the list for my husband so he knows what he needs to take.

In addition I try to figure out the pronunciation of each medication, and look them each up so that I know what they are for and what side effects I might want to watch out for. A couple have changed and I haven't done that with them, but I will soon.

I got him a Webster pack, similar to the one below, so that his medication is divided into the times and days where it needs to be. That way I can cast a glance at the pack to see if he has taken his medication or not.

Every 3 months, we see his main doctor and a couple days before, I send her an email with new issues and things we need to deal with in that appointment, then his medications, then his ongoing issues. I often bring a printed copy of that email with me to GP and other specialist appointments.

His scripts are at a chemist close to where I work and either when I suspect that it's time to get more or when he lets me know, I go in and order more. Before trips, long weekends, etc., I check ... although I didn't check just recently, and we had to make a special trip for them.

    Thank you all!!! :)

My husband and I went out for dinner yesterday to a pasta and pizza place. I had tortellini with pesto sauce. :)

He wanted to get me something for this birthday (we don't usually exchange gifts for anything) so I told him about a shop I really like - Kaisercraft: https://www.kaisercraft.com.au/ - and he came home with all sorts of art stuff for me. :):)

Today (my Australian birthday), my workmates got me a cake, and then we went out for lunch. The lunch was for a girl who is leaving to go on mat leave. She's due in about 3 weeks. But I figured it was a happy coincidence.

Tomorrow is my Canadian birthday and this coming weekend is a long weekend - Labour Day.

Debbie ~ I am wondering if the garden project has gotten to be too much for your mom! I know you love it, but, it seems like she may have lost heart for it since your Father passed. If so, I hope that she doesn't have to depend on it just for the money it brings in. Please don't take offense. Just a thought on my part.

Allie ~ Fingers crossed that your daughter will be able to find something to do at home. What kind of work does she do for the Vet? I did stay home for 3 mos. after my son was born but without pay. When I came back to my job, the pay was the same but I had been replaced in my position to one I did not like.

Pip ~ Continued wishes for your complete healing.

Got my garbage bill today and it had gone up another $10. $100 in all for 3 mos. And, we forget to put the can out a lot of the time. Everything has gone up and a lot was due to the increase in gas prices.

Still trying to catch up- Spent two hours in the dentist chair plus I have a cold or allergies- kept having coughing attacks while he was trying to do the filling and fit the crown.
Great way to start my birthday. If I didn't have my daycare girl today, I would be curled up in bed with a hot cup of tea-just took some cold meds.

    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

My dental office wouldn't have allowed you in the door!! You would have needed to produce a very recent negative COVID test result.

Sorry that you had to start your birthday that way.

I hope you had a good day besides that.

    Caregiver Organisations

Do those of you who care for loved ones have caregiver organisations in your area? Have you signed on with them - been registered as a carer? What sort of help and benefits can you get?

We've got a national organisation with state branches and I've signed on with them. But I am finding them more difficult to navigate than I think they should be - Carer Gateway: https://www.carergateway.gov.au/

However, they've got some articles of interest and they've got a forum. Those can be interesting for advice, especially if you're just starting out in a caring role.

Skimmin’ but just had to respond to Beth. I’d be more than miffed at that doctor refusing to treat your dad because of his being unable to transfer himself from wheelchair to table. :rage:
Vicki what you said! Amen, sister, amen.
And pip, we’re not mad, just concerned that you are jumping back into too much activity too soon. Love ya’

UK Ladies, a request. In the March 6 Sunday Mail, there was an article/interview headlined "Extinct? I'm bark from the dead" with a picture of a Skye Terrier. If any of you have or can get it, please pm me.

    Thousand thanks from Tumble and

I did my 8 min elliptical, 6 mins marching, and 58 mins yoga. Yay! It's hard to feel proud after I skipped dumbbells last night. I ate a big late dinner and was too full to exercise. Totally my fault. But I'm back on track today, so Yay!

Rainy day today. I got up early to do my mom's pills. So a nap is in order.

Pip glad you are taking it easy.

    Rita hugs for you.
