Good morning all! Happy Thursday! I am sitting here trying to get my brain into a proper mindset. Trying NOT to think of Thursday as my "difficult" day (work-wise). lol But it is cold (40F) and rainy, and I have a particularly troublesome group, today. It is not that they are naughty; but it is a day of "too many chiefs" as there are about four of them that want to be THE leader. So...a lot of squabbles. Being outside is always better for them, and me. So...hoping the rain stops and planning activities that will lean toward "individual work".
Barbie- Hope everything goes well for Jake!
Terri- Happy belated birthday! SEnding best wishes to you!
Allie- I am going to butt in. KEEP YOUR DAYS OFF FOR YOUR OWN RECOVERY/RELAXATION! Your body is sore, you are tired, you are getting used to a new routine. If you don't do this THIS week; try it next week! Let Tracy know tomorrow (Friday) that you are not going to be able to help on your days off. She is able to get up and get Carmine to school, baby and all. She can manage Miles by herself two days a week. She CAN! YOU NEED REST and time for yourself. Heck, Carmine might just begin to pitch in if they feel they are needed. (or maybe not; teenagers are a mystery). Let Tracy handle those two days herself. I am saying this with much, much love for you!
Marty- You have a big family and I understand exactly where you are at, physically (and probably emotionally). I am currently almost twice the size I was when I married my husband. Years of putting myself last and being too exhausted/emotionally drained to make good choices has taken a toll. Know that I am right beside you in the "battle" for better health! Hugs to you.
Machka- I have to admit; much of my relaxation time is actually "stresslaxing". It is exhausting.
Oooof! I am tired this morning. It is crunch time for the volunteer event I am working on. We have a month and a half until the actual event dates. I really feel like the two years of "stay at home" mandates messed with my ability to go to meetings and my energy to "do" things after work hours. I used to be so good at juggling life. Pushing through. At a meeting last night, I found I am far less patient with people and those who play "the devils advocate". I cut a person off in the middle of his "let me just say..." speech; reminded him that we were given funds to be used specifically for the entertainment he was trying to cut. Sometimes inane comments irritate me and I really HATE it when I feel like my time is being wasted. Anyway, I cut him off, asked to move on the proposed budget and ended that line of conversation. lol No time for that.
WEll, I better fly. Still have to fit my yoga in before kids show up. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Good morning ladies!😊
I didn't have any cookies or candy yesterday! Yay! I did have a lot of pistachios, but at least I cut the sugar. I will run out of pistachios today, so I might eat an apple instead. Getting better!
You all are persuading me to get my knee looked at. Thank you. I will call for an appointment today.

Ooooh, just booked a cruise for 2023. It's almost the same price as the one we cancelled in March, so it feels like a free one! I still have all the money I put away. In fact, I haven't paid yet, because they have to ring me to check on my BP meds, before they confirm. The cabin is the same as the one in we are going on in June, but it's on the twin sister ship.
It's to Norway, lots of gorgeous fjords, and stopping at the Lofoten Islands, and going round the very top in the Arctic Circle. It was a compromise between what I really wanted, and what DH wanted. We agreed on this one and it fits the money we saved. One I wanted would have been a lot extra.
So, happy days!
Off to the hairdresser.

Why don’t you let her do it on Tue and Thurs and use those days to sleep in and rest. If it’s OK for you to get the baby out for the school run, it’s fine for her to do it as well when you aren’t there.

So sorry I missed your birthday TERRI!!! Sounds like it was happy.
Oh Beth, I feel for you and I understand that caring for TWO parents would be WAY too much for you. The cost for both of them is a lot too though. We were very Blessed to find a reliable, wonderful home-health care aide for my MIL before we found her a senior-living apartment near us. And the woman was ONE person and she was only replaced when she was ill. It was so great. But, if you don't find that one person and are saddled with changing people every day or every several days, you're at the mercy of the agency and their personnel and that doesn't always work well.
I'm worried about my laptop too, Annie! And I use it for work and play... YIKES! Freddy says we're going to try to replace the battery first and see what happens.
Hi marty, welcome!
Omgosh... "stresslaxing"! I think I do that, Machka. Now I know what it's called.
I've used Voltaren for years too, Debbie! You should really try it, Katla. Don't know about that Stopain, but I'd love the spray/roll on idea. I hate having to "apply" the cream.
Have to admit, I had TWO cookies yesterday. Went to test two of my kiddos at the middle school and visited a dear, old friend who's the head cook there and she gave me two of the CC cookies...... which are FRANKLY THE BESSSSSSSTESTESTESTEST... yes, I said it, CC cookies on the planet. So, I had to eat them. I just HAD TO! She knows they're my fave. Oh well. So, I'll have to do some extra body groove today.

following along, but not enough energy to comment. Went to see my counselor yesterday. That was helpful. I will write an update at some point today and post it.

Annie when my knee acted up I got some physical therapy. The exercises he gave me help. He gave me a heads up about shoes too. Make sure they have good arch support. No more flats or heels unless just walking into a restaurant or church where I mostly sit. I agree be careful with knee support it may weaken the surrounding muscles. You want to exercise and stretch hamstrings and upper thigh muscles inside and top. It is your leg muscles that keep your knee strong unless there is a tear and than that needs medical care. There are some good exercises for knees online.

Look what greeted me when I reached the bottom of my road this morning. Don't you just love Mother Nature! It's not clear from the photo, but the flowers are growing out of a wall.
Yesterday Max and Edie went cycle racing round a proper track! DDIL sent us a video of the finish, but I can't post that. Here they are, ready to go.
Hair done, now waiting for a Waitrose delivery.
DH is mowing the front yard. It's a tiny patch, but must be done!

Annie ... I started therapy for my knees in May of last year (interrupted by the leg break). No braces. Very specific exercises for my specific concerns. Fortunately, my health insurance has no limit on PT so I can go twice a week. My improvement has been significant and well worth the time. Knee-replacement is in my future, but for now the knees are back to behaving.
Terri ... Happy Birthday!
Carol ... here in NY I am finding nothing for 3000.00 in assisted living care that would be appropriate for one let alone two people. My dad was upset with the price he and my mom are being charged in OH. I'm finding that they are getting a bargain! How did the hearing aide appointment go?
Stresslaxing ... oh, I know what that is ...
Allie ... I'm 100% in agreement with Kelly! If you wear yourself out, you will be no good to anyone. But more importantly, you need to be good to yourself!
Miserable, rainy day and I'm not feeling like doing anything...

Worked today. Have the Green Room in about an hour. Tomorrow after work I go to the soup kitchen
marty – welcome! Awesome weight loss.
You know, I feel bad for Jess. Denise won’t go to her graduation. I know that Jess would like her to be there, Jess’ friend is going. Denise just said “sorry I didn’t call you (for Easter) but I got busy”. Yea, busy going out to dinner with Pete’s family. We knew all along that she wouldn’t go to Jess’ graduation but still. I know it’s bothering Jess. Her friend can go, but her own sister can’t.
Allie – why do you feel bad? It’s good for Tracy to do things for her son, too. He needs to know that his mother is there for him too.
Margaret – the only time I wear any type of heel is when I go to church. Even then, it’s usually only at max a 2” heel.

Today is usually my day off but my daycare girl is coming today, (didn't come Monday). Planned on going to the park with her beings we didn't go Monday or Tuesday(rained Tuesday)-rained hard last night and this morning with more showers to come so will be too wet to go.
Wanted to sleep in but the neighbors right behind us thought that 8:30AM was a good time to start the chain saw. If they are cutting the trees that hang over the fence and are tall and block the sun, go ahead(dh had already woke me up at 7:30 when he came in from work and wasn't really sleeping, just hoping to)
Dh set up my Fitbit- actual name brand one, not just a tracker. I am getting used to all the new features.
The buzzer to get me up and moving and the app that actually works on my phone.
Machka- it shows total calories burned, like what you were explaining to me(not just exercise calories like my other one). Very interesting. Says I burned just about 2000 cal yesterday after an hour of zumba.
Checking my sleep on the app has been an eye opener- to really see it. The amount of time I was actually getting good sleep compared to awake or light sleep I knew but seeing it on the graph kind of surprised me.
We had DH's aunt in an assisted living place here- thankfully her daughter left her well set financially when she passed away(even after the daughter's friend coersed over 500,000 from her before we got her out of that situation and moved her closer to us- he was her only family). It started at $2,500 a month then up to $3000. It was going up to $3,500 when she passed away. She lived there for ten years and was about to run out of money if she lived another year.
Now we are looking at finding care for MIL in her home or in a place. One day she wants to move, next she just wants a house cleaner, tells the doctor she doesn't have anyone-with son sitting right there, says he never goes over to help, even though he is there every day. I tried to suggest things and got cut off so, it is on him. She has started falling often-twice this week so needs someone there. The doctor said a big part of the weakness and all is from her smoking- DH told the doctor she smokes 2-3 cartons a month which isn't true- it is at least 4 cartons a month so over a pack every day. If she has to go into a home, I don't want to be around then, as most do not allow smoking. She will be more of a witch than she already is.
Allie- don't feel bad. You are helping Tracy out so much. If you aren't feeling up to it, stay home on her days off so you will have more energy to take care of Miles on the days she really needs you.
Carla- I posted the link to all the Stopain on Amazon. I haven't tried the roll on- we always get the spray. MIL uses a spray from Solanpas- says it sprays better(but had complained that it didn't work as well before- who knows if it is)
Happy belated birthday Terri- I thought I had wished you a happy birthday yesterday but I guess I forgot to hit Post Reply.
Time for more tea- eyes are so tired and blurry still this morning.
Need to try and go to bed earlier. I am very tired in the late afternoons but at bed time, wide awake( and wanting to snack)
Have a wonderful Thursday

Athena enjoying icecream. I guess this past Easter weekend my daughter in law had a high school friend over, so Athena got to know her auntie Hannah.👍💖
Today woke up with such an achy head and neck. Feels like I have had vertigo for a bit.🙃😔. Just a wee bit out of sorts.
Allie, I know you like to help others, to the point where your life isn't your own to an extent.💖. Know we love you, and just want you to live a life that's yours.💐. Sadly your family takes advantage of you a wee bit. I know you offer, because you are such a giving person, but say "no" every so often, just to get a feel of it.💖

Thanks for your love and concern.. and I think I will speak to Tracy about it tomorrow when she comes home from work..
Your right... i do need to be able to do things that i want to do .. and we can do things once she gets out of work.. so i will be going to pick up Carmine at school and then taking her to guitar and back..
And then tomorrow is babysitting day3 -
Allie--Don't you feel bad about putting yourself first. You do so much for Tracy and her family, she needs to know you have to take care of yourself. I agree with the others that on your days off they need to work it out and deal. It is great to be needed, but not at the expensie of your own health.
Kim--Sending hugs and prayers!
Well since I worked Sunday I am off tomorrow. Looking forward to 3 days off. They are calling for storms and I pray they are right, as we need the moisture.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE5 -
Mini cooper — I put Voltaren on my grumpy left knee regularly. My doctor actually gave me the tube. I will buy it myself when I run out. It really helps my knee joint.
Allie — Rebecca has a good point. Your family does appear to lean on you for your time and childcare for your grandchildren. If you’re feeling great and want to do something fun with them, go for it. But take care of yourself and your personal health needs to come first. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️3 -

message from my friend, regarding her grandson, David.
Aww, no more news on David. His fever returned, they found some other stuff they need to figure out ( high salt ?) no clue ? What that means. He might be fighting an infection, I don’t know
Needs a lot of prayers
MIL's doctor called with the results from her blood work. A1C is 11. Putting her on an additional pill. She needs to start eating regular food and not snack so much. Cut back on the white rice(which she eats all the time-a Japanese thing).Doesn't think it is because of what she eats- says the meter is wrong or the pills aren't working or???4 -
I ❤️ Garden/ fresh grown vegetable pics. Hope there are a few here that do also?
@Whidislander Sweet pics!

We are having a quiet day so far. I am grateful for quiet time today & time with DH. I just made lime jello for him. It will take time for the jello to become firm.1
