Tracey-congratulations on having a free weekend from work! I have to do a few things for work today but I want to make up from time missed due to medical stuff.
Rebecca-Miss Athena has a personality that just doesn’t end!
Viv-your mom and her spending totally makes sense to me. I will research and check and triple check before buying something for me. Early in pandemic I was on phone with DIL in Arizona and we were talking about granddaughter remote learning. Before we hung up I had ordered a new ipad for her on line and was having it shipped to house.
Antidepressants-I have never used them. My husband found them helpful but I had to monitor he took them as prescribed. He would sometimes forget to take them and the results were not good for him (suicidal feelings, etc.).
I do have a clothesline in the basement by the washer and dryer that I use for some items that I don’t want to shrink. I just couldn’t face drying everything that way if I have a choice.
I am working on a “to-do” list today. Creating my list of things to get accomplished prior to moving to Arizona. Need to get some things completed around house and stuff sorted out. I also, with to do lists, end up adding the things I do that aren’t on that list!
Rainy this am so will work on inside of house-hoping to get outside for a dry walk this pm.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Good morning ladies!
Yesterday was a good diet day for me. Let's hope it's the start of a trend!
I read part of another thread, and now I have all the names and stories mixed up in my head. But it does help with motivation.

Morning, afternoon and evening all...
Lovely, peaceful morning so far. Better than last night. Got a text from my daughter that there were tornados touching down near them, and all the sirens were going off. Luckily, base housing in Kansas is built with an in-house tornado shelter. Under the stairs, they built a bathroom with a steel door and heavily reinforced walls. Here are the kids during the tornado warning:
As I wandered around the web this morning, I found the YouTube channel of Hampton Liu. This is for those who just aren't ready yet for the "no pain, no gain" kind of exercise. This guy gives advice and how to move with every fitness level - no equipment needed. Watched a couple of his videos, and was impressed. Obviously not for the Pips of this world, who are very far along with their exercise progression, but for those who are trying to commit to exercise as a habit...
Sending Corey off to get his haircut and shop for groceries this morning. I'm happy to be staying at home... we don't shop well together. Gloomy day outside, rain might hold off, though. Hard to tell, and the weather critters are seldom right.
Later, y'all,
Love,

I went up the stairs using my sore knee, without pain! Yay! It's been over two weeks, so I'm glad to see improvement. Tonight is back to my dumbbell routine.

Carla AGREE!!! Staying into today. Rain all day.
Rita Your son is ill. Tough love is not the answer. Having been there it is hard to finding a balance of being involved with someone who is mentally ill. I know you live far from him so in some ways it makes it harder and in other ways easier. Just try to remember he is ill . Give what help you are comfortable with and encourage him to find help in the systems that are in place. I did just learn through a friend here in Minnesota there is a program that tries to find housing for those who are mentally ill so they have more stablity. That is one of the things that makes this illness so tragic. They are one of the most vulnerable populations, but because of their behavior they are some of the most difficult to help. Our son was evicted like yours after just moving into an apartment. His episode was the reason. I tried to remember with our son it was like dealing with an adult having a temper tantrum. With children you try to stay calm yourself by breathing and just let the child you are there for them as you let the tantrum burn itself out. I would do the same for our son. Despite everything my son knew I was always there for him. His last text to me was I truly love you mom. I wish I had better answers for you just know you and your son are not alone. As much effort that has gone into cancer research needs to go into mental health. My last note is to do whatever you need to do to help your own mental heath. For me what saved me is my own research, gardening, singing, painting, feeding my spirit, and having DrewB. During this hard winter and spring here in Minnesota I would find beautiful Flower pictures on Facebook and share them everyday.9 -
Debbie I have one of those carts. I will try this.1

Thought about you last night Lisa!!! Glad you're all safe!

Art in Bloom was open to public this year. I went with a friend on Thursday...
This was one of my favorites. Florist/artist outfit she bought as a dress and turned it into a coat just for this event. Her husband made the frame. She had to figure out how to keep top plants from drying out. No soil allowed. She placed them in the floral foam and then in bags. Love how it looks like the flowers are spilling out of the frame.🦩

Another piece we got to hear the florist...
Another favorite from Art in Bloom😍Florist/artist had help from her son who is in his early thirties build the wood portion of the display. Love how it mimics the bottom portion of the seat. This is a hallway by Frank LLoyd Wright. The yellow flowes capture the seats.

So fortunate to get to meet so many florists😍.
The jade mountain depicts a group of poets getting together on a mountain retreat. the Florist/artist captured the party atmosphere with real jade cups. Starting full and spilling out by the time they reached the bottom of the mountain. In the jade they are floating in a stream. Flowers used were all Chinese in origin. On the back of her piece she used leaves to represent the poem that was written by the organizer of the event that is writen in Chinese on the back of the 600 pound jade.

MARGARET ~ Those displays are so pretty and the florists are very, very talented. Loved your friend's outfit and display.

Lovely exhibition Margaret. Nice to be in a FLW Hall. Wow! One of my favourite bits of the Met is the FLW room.
I'm so sorry about your son. I know you did all you could for him.
And Rita. Such hard choices. My son went through hell with his anxiety and depression, but he wasn't psychotic. He has come through it. I still worry a little, but luckily I am physically distant from him. I just hope he doesn't fall out with his girlfriend.
I've just had a long conversation with G about our trip. Good to hash it over. She was utterly fooled by my composed demeanour.
I've arranged to chat with L tomorrow morning.
DH back in an hour and a half. I have duck legs ready for him. Curly kale. In the meantime, I am going to finish watching A Star Is Born. 2018.

So pretty Margaret! I love shows like that. My step father used to do Bonsai trees, and it was so amazing to see all his creations. I need to find some photos of his pots.💖👍. Yep our Athena is quite the little lady.💖. This month is her birthday, turning 3! A couple days after her birthday her mom, and her other grandma is taking her to Disneyland for the first time. She'll have do much fun!

*my son will have to stay home because his college classes will still be going on, plus he needs to the dogs*. 😔. On a good side, he's a guy and never much into Disney. In fact we referred to Mickey Mouse as "that big mutant rat"... I know so bad. Barbie had no hope in our house either with GIJoes. Barbie along side a GIJoe, she was humongous! 😂

On the good side, my mother got off the couch and went shopping. It's been awhile since she left the house other than doctor visits. On the bad side, she brought home non-diet food like ice cream and ice cream bars and chips and cookies and pie. Lots of stuff that I am trying to stay away from. Oh well.
I have some calories if I can exercise a bit tonight. But will today suddenly be the day I develop discipline and stop after a small portion? Probably not. I'm better off just having another yoghurt. The battle goes on.

Machka ... what apps are you referring to for high tone hearing loss and tinnitus?
Margaret ... Lovely photos!
Lanette ... I forgot about the dementia/hearing loss connection!! Thank you for reminding me about that. One, I need to realize my hearing aids are providing more than sound conditioning in preparation for cochlear implant. But it also explains some things we're seeing with my mother. Glad, too, that your husband is doing a little better with medication.
Yesterday was another trip out to Ohio to be with my parents since my mom was released from skilled nursing back to assisted living. The two of them kept my husband and I busy, that's for sure. My dad has improved immensely since his medical issues in November. A miracle really. My mom is struggling with the heel wound. I continue to look for facilities in my town and have a visit scheduled with an enhanced care assisted living facility on Monday. None of them are ideal.
Good news was that even with a disgusting stop at McDonald's and an overpriced fast-food meal ... I stayed within calories allowances. That's the beauty of IF. But it wasn't a satisfying or nutritious meal by any standard. We just needed to eat as it was getting late and we had a drive ahead of us.

Our daughter and granddaughter were here for six days and have gone home to Illinois. It was a wonderful visit. Our daughter plans to bring her middle child, a son, on the next visit. He is full of energy and I look forward to seeing him.6

Hello I am looking forward to a new month. A chance for a refresh and make some headway towards a healthier way of life. I have gotten my strawberries planted.. into inexpensive plastic tubs until I find a permanent place for them. So far so good they look like they are thriving. 🙂

Beth - seems like almost everyone in my family had significant hearing loss once they hit their 80's. My mom and my maternal grandfather had dementia in their later years - hearing seemed to be OK. I'm still in a love/hate relationship with my hearing aid. If I get 5 hours I'm doing good! Better than nothing.
Glad to hear your dad is doing so well. I am crossing fingers you can find a place closer to move your parents and that your visit at the facility goes well. Was your dad a veteran? I've been investigating VA help. My DH was in the Marines for 7 years, and in Vietnam - so some assistance might be available for care for him if it comes to that.
Tonight, big dinner plan here is McDonalds! Our local one has a "buy one get one free" deal that goes on all the time if a person saves the receipt and fills in an on-line survey. Not my favorite place but DH generally eats a whole quarter pounder - 25 grams of protein right there. Whatever I can do to get some calories and protein down that man.
IF- I'm pushing my first meal of the day farther and farther out in an attempt to keep at a 16:8 to 18:6 IF schedule. 11 am to 5 or 6 pm is my goal. I love black coffee but it's taking a toll on my stomach. I've been alternating coffee with a mug of hot water with a little baking soda - I think that would pass as clean fasting.
Rebecca and others - I'm a fan of Apple Cider Vinegar, and generally pour a glug ( 1 tbs?) into half a glass of water. Drink it down, rinse my mouth out with tap water OR a little water with baking soda again - neutralize the acid. A couple times a day after meals. I credit ACV with helping heal my digestion last fall, I'm back on it again. Thanks to you folks for bringing it up recently.

Lanette ... Yes! My dad is a WWII vet and once his money runs out he qualifies for the veterans assistance. I've eaten many, many McDonald's meals over the years so I'm no McDonald's snob ... but this one in particular had both my husband and I not feeling too well. If your husband will eat it, get it for him! I think, too, that IF has just turned me into a food snob. Period. I really hate it when my only meal doesn't satisfy my cravings. My IF is generally 2:00-7:00. Yesterday it was after 7:00 before I ate and that was too long. I drink coffee with a glass of water too! Thins out the acidity a little bit. And, yeah, baking soda doesn't affect a clean fast in my book.

We are having a quiet day. Our daughter and granddaughter are now home in Illinois. I had a wonderful time with them. I hope our daughter will be able to bring our grandson for a visit. He’s the “oldest” boy. There is a younger brother. He may visit in the future.2
