Worked today then went to CVS. I could have sworn that they took sharpies (needles), but they don’t. Vince has all the needles from his allergy shots. I finally convinced him to cut off the needle part, keep them in a separate container and throw the syringe away. Then stopped at Food Lion to get soda that was on sale (just a bit because it wasn’t a great sale) and Gatorade. Admitted, they are a higher price than WalMart. But if I buy two I get a dollar back so in a way it’s cheaper than WalMart.
Terri – we have to get better fast because replacement parts are hard to find….lol Glad you’re feeling better
Vince watered the new plants this morning and we’ll probably do it again tonight. With it so hot, that’s why we’re doing it twice.
Rebecca – safe travels

was a long night- just as I was starting to eat dinner, dh called and said his mom fell again, hit her head and it was bleeding. I rushed over, it had stopped bleeding so got her cleaned up and laundry started. He had to go into work at 11PM so I stayed the night-slept/rested on her couch all night- she was up ever 1 1/2 hrs to use the bathroom which are either upstairs or down stairs. Had to make sure she got up or down ok, coming back she is fine.
Looks like I will be doing at least one night a week for a while. We are picking up a commode chair today and hopefully we can get her to use it during the night. She can get upstairs ok during the day but has problems at night. We put motion sensor lights up the stairs but she still has trouble.
She hurt her ribs also when she fell so that is hurting more than her broken hand/wrist.
If we can make it work with just he and I taking care of her we will but we may need to hire someone to help too. We are still trying to figure it all out- It has been just about a week(fell last Friday)
One thing is I am getting more steps in each day when I take her dog for a walk for 1/2 hr

M I have had some months like you describe. Currently things are going better. When I was going through that time I would try to get myself to stop and take deep breaths and blow out slowly. There is also a delightful woman named Donna Eden on you-tube who has a some self messaging techniques that help in stressful situations. One is you take your hands pass them over your eyes, go slowy behind your ears, then have your hands press slowly down the sides of your neck where your vagus nerve rests. It helps rest your vagus nerve. Sometimes just taking a moment of self care can give enough of a pause to help one through a tough time.
If you do look her up she radiates boundless cheerful energy. Refreshing in these trying times.4 -

Now he is wanting me to consider closing the daycare and get paid to be her caregiver.
I wanted to close the daycare before but he said we needed the tax write-off, now I guess it is ok< IF I do it to take care of her.
Sorry, but I am not going to do that- one night a week overnight and walking the dog is one thing but not full time. Not they way she has treated me the last 33 yrs. I will continue to cook food and bring it every few days and do her laundry but not staying overnight more than one or two nights- Dh works nights so if I can help a night or two on his full shifts, I will do it- his other shifts are just 4-5 hrs.
If she was nicer to son and his girlfriend, they could move in and just be there to make sure she doesn't fall at night but she doesn't like the girlfriend- told us she isn't even allowed at her house(same thing she said about me 33 yrs ago)
I will help but I am not going to quit my job and I am not going to give up my zumba classes.
We will work it out- just will take some time to figure it all out.

Thank you everyone for the “Welcome Back”s and music suggestions. Time to try out those earbuds.
Machka holding good thoughts that Friday’s MRI gives clear answers and good path forward.
Kylia you and everyone who serves the public have my respect. IMHO many people don’t need heat waves to bring out their inner jerks.
Lanette would you share the re-gravelling estimates you get? Our neighbor wants to have our entire lane regraded (and boy does it need it!) but Joe is opposed, concerned that the grader will weaken the cliffside holding up our knoll. I’d like it done and our driveway too. Loving conversations, no happy compromise… yet.
Carol, Carla, Michele, Evelyn et al, thank you for the “welcome back”s.
Lisa “So joyous at the fact that my body is actually working again. We take so much for granted in our lives, and the fact is, I had gotten complacent about my health. I am grateful for it now.” Bingo.
Annie “better to set goals for my behavior, eating and exercise, than to set goals for the scale” Truth this. Well done!
Tina does that mean the Mister speaks German? I like everything about your wine tour plans, except of course for the other people
Margaret “Lesson...You are responsible for your own personal safety and ask yourself who is the best authority of your own life. Sometimes the authorities are doing what is expedient for them at your expense. ie tune them out and run...” More truth this.
Terrie Cyndi Lauper.
Rita wow that conversation. Some things chilling, some things poignant, reminded me strongly of Mike in Heinlein’s “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.” Lisa’s take sounds right to me.
Debbie you are so very wise not to sacrifice your daycare to take full time care of your toxic MIL. Cooking, laundry, walking her dogs are kindnesses you can do for as long as you wish. Being responsible for her overnight sounds to me like a very bad idea.
Rebecca love the pics of the Everett station. Thanks!
Still Junuary here in Southern Oregon, but time to get the pooches down to the powerline before tummy time.

Yes, he does speak German. Mostly because he IS German.
I really want to do this tour as a private tour, which would make it more enjoyable for all of us anti-socials (mostly me). If not, I will find a small group tour.
I did find a couple of walking/wine drinking/food tours and one biking/wine drinking/food tour. Both are appealing to me. Found a few minivan ones too. I'm leaning toward more of an "active" tour.

Debbie – you and your hubby are angels from heaven for taking care of your MIL the way you are, but you are so right DO NOT quit your job or give up your zumba classes. You deserve that.
Barbara – I like Heinlein’s books, too.
Making chocolate muffins for Vince right now. He’s almost finished the applesauce muffins I made him and I know there’s no way he’ll eat the banana zucchini muffins, I didn’t hide the zucchini. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make icing for them.

Can you take her to a doctor or emergency/urgent care to have her looked at?
I would have called the ambulance when she fell this time, but I don't know what ambulance services are like where you are.

Thanks!!
We picked up the commode chair for her and, surprisingly, she is glad to have it. I told her it was so she didn't hurt her bruised ribs going up and down the stairs. That is hurting more than her broken wrist/hand right now(and she has totally forgotten the pain in her shoulder where she had to have a cortisone shot a few weeks ago)
He has to work a few hours tonight but I told him sorry, I am too tired to stay there again tonight. If he really needs to, he will call in sick but she should be good just for those few hours.
Our bedroom was smelling terrible when I walked in there this afternoon- checked in the back of my closet and the one female cat that isn't fixed had a kitten and it was dead- cleaned it all out and now have a load of laundry going that she had been laying on. We had no idea she was pregnant- must have happened when she escaped last time. We need to get her fixed soon but now it will have to wait.
Going to bed early-hopefully get some extra sleep but feel like I am going to need a nebulizer treatment before I do go to sleep. Not sure why it is acting up today, unless it is something from MIL's house(her smoking or something)
Have a wonderful evening.

The month started with me leaving my phone on the bus and having to put my cards on hold. I got the phone back 3 days later, but it took about a week to regain access to most things, except my bank card and phone internet access. I think my bank card should be OK now - I had to get a new one! I was in the bank yesterday trying to get it to work. If it is OK, I can set my phone internet access back up again.
Meanwhile I've been pulling everything off OneDrive and have been tightening the security on other things.
All the while being out at work 4 days a week, 10 hours a day and producing large legal documents in the evenings.
But wait, there's more.
I've also been for a lot of blood tests, an ultrasound, a glucose tolerance test and an MRI this month. I've had three doctor's appointments, and another one next week and have referrals to three specialists. It's all in an effort to chase something up that started with tingly feet. I'll know more next week.

Had an oily bath. Ordered some more bath oil to take with me. It should arrive by 10 pm today! It stops my shins itching.
Nails done, just clear varnish.
Now sorting meds and toiletries. I'm watching a German video while I'm doing it.
Washing last minute stuff, like exercise clothes. Luckily it's hot weather today, though we have cloud here, so not as hot as they said. But stuff will dry OK.
Feeling calmer.

Cycling inside.
And I spent the afternoon dying my hair. It's not vastly different from what it was, mainly just brighter/fresher ... with no grey.
