Anxiety mounting. I usually have one bad night before a big holiday and then it subsides as I get more done. Last night I slept less than three hours.
All will be well. This is par for the course for me. Packing anxiety is a thing.
So glad I have DH to chat to.
I will go for my run this morning. Temps set to rise in the next couple of days. Lovely out there right now.
One step at a time.

Morning all. My back is slowly getting back to normal. Elderly wheels grind exceeding slow.
Heather: Packing anxiety is definitely a thing.
RVRita: That’s an interesting article. I’m fascinated by the whole concept of AI.
Barbie: Such a sweet looking dog. (((Hugs))) to your little family. 🌈 RIP Sweet Sasha 💕
Gotta fly! Window cleaner has just arrived.
Planning a relaxed day.
🥳🎉 Cheers to all those celebrating.
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

The joy of the early morning run. No tourists, just like-minded Hovarians. Cycling, running, walking, swimming.
The very high pollen count seems to make my joints ache in a sort of immune response. I stopped for a rwo minute sit down, which I never do. Then I shuffled onward to the deli where I bought Mediterranean vegetables for roasting with feta.
After yoga stretches I collected a selection of underwear together. I never normally wear dresses, so I had to get various hosiery out from the deep depths of my storage! Some progress has been made. Phew!
I've ordered fabric glue which will arrive tomorrow to stick the inner soles of my dancing shoes back in. I must have bought these shoes 30 years ago! They only come out for the cruises!
I am filled with gratitude.

Barbie- Hugs to you and Jake! Special furry hugs and strokes to Bessie and Bernie!
Rebecca- Happy Birthday! Travel is so exciting, don't you think?! Love your bracelet!
Lisa and Terri- Love your "pick me up" choices! I listen to music a lot; as a pick me up or to convey my emotions out of my body. My DYS can read my music and know if and how to approach me based on what is playing. I am not sure if my DH is that astute. lol Anyway, my two "go to" pick me up songs are from my teen years.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMaE6toi4mk&ab_channel=theclashVEVO

I have to get a handle on my weight. I keep saying I want to live past 100; but at the rate I am going and with the health issues that go along with obesity, I won't make it. It is a good thing that I have an active job that keeps me strong and a little flexible; but even then, I have been having more issues with back pain, joint pain, etc. I have been reading your posts and many of you are at the maintenance part of your weight journey. I often read, "I have gained 5 pounds" and then a week or two later, "Lost those pesky 5 pounds". I think I need to approach my weight in smaller bite sized chunks. I know, I can make good choices for two weeks. So...I am just going to tell myself "I have to lose 5 pounds." Once the five pounds is gone, I will focus on the five pounds I have to lose.
Well, kiddos will be arriving shortly. I need to get outside and get my plants watered. The rain we were supposed to get last night (and over the weekend) never happened. Things are getting very dry. Love and hugs to all! ttfn xoxoxoxo KJ (Kelly)9 -

When I lost weight in 2015, I approached it this way ... I would stick with it for 5 weeks. That's it. No more. Just 5 weeks.
In that time, I was pretty sure I'd lose a little bit which would be better than nothing.
For 5 weeks, I ate at or slightly less than 1250 calories each day ... net.
In other words, if I walked an hour, that's 200 calories. So that day, I could eat 1400 calories. 1250 + 200 = 1450, and slightly less is 1400.
For the first 10 days, nothing happened. No gain, no loss. I was getting really frustrated.
And then I started slowly losing a little. By the end of 2 weeks, I had lost about 0.5 kg.
But then it really started coming off and by the end of 5 weeks, I had lost 5 kg (11 lbs).
By the end of 15 weeks, I had lost 15 kg (33 lbs)
But it did take determination. Absolutely no "cheat days". Every single day of those 15 weeks I remained at or just below net 1250 calories.
Since then I haven't been quite prepared to do that again with that level of determination.
So now, I'm attempting the 'minor changes' method and I'm expecting a much slower loss. I also need to lose weight for health.

KJ I am doing well with the Just For Today thread. I set daily goals and just take it one day at a time. I find it better to set goals for my behavior, eating and exercise, than to set goals for the scale. But I'm just at the start of my journey.
Other things that helped include finding lactose free Greek yogurt and even finding a faux ice cream that has half the calories. And switching to stevia saved me two teaspoons of sugar a day. The little things add up. I still have trouble with special occasions and one restaurant lunch can blow my week. But overall I'm losing. You can do this!

Thank you for all your kind words. Bessie and Sasha are a bit anxious but doing well. Jake is extra sad as am I. Both of us deal with sadness by being active so we spent the afternoon working in the yard and after supper watched a TV show we both like.
Heather, thinking of you with your travel preparations. There is so much to remember.
Rebecca, Happy Birthday to you and best wishes for your trip.
Kelly, It helped me to focus on the behaviour I could control and the weight came off when I did the things that I should (food, exercise, water, etc.)
When we left the vet's office yesterday, Jake asked me if I wanted to go for frozen yogurt on the way home and I said No. He said he wanted to stop but wouldn't if I didn't want to. I told him my three reasons. I didn't want to leave Bessie and Bernie alone too long, I didn't want to go into a store midday for something non-essential, and I didn't want to use food as a treatment for sadness. He agreed and then reminded me that when my mother died in 1991, we stopped on the way home from the hospital and bought a half gallon of ice cream for each of us to eat while making lists of what we needed to do, We ate the ice cream directly out of the carton.

Barbie - Thinking of you and Jake, Bessie and Bernie... Your grief at Sacha's loss is such a tribute to how much you loved her.
Rebecca - Happy belated birthday once more and hope you really enjoy the trip!
KJ - Thanks for sharing your pick-me-up songs! My Monkees song favorite was also from my youth, hit the charts when I was 7, and Gloria Estefan's was when I was 30. Which I now think of as my youth, but probably didn't then... I think Annie's daily goals and Machka's previous weight loss regimen are both very rational, and keeping things to a specific time frame can work wonders. For me using each month's goal of "be lighter" has diminished my stress levels regarding my weight. You just have to find your sweet spot, and you will...
Terri - So glad your back is improving...
Rita - my reaction to the AI conversation.Rita - I would want a whole lot more than one guy's testimony to LaMDA being human. In my opinion, LeMoine was very probably "leading the witness." As in, built into LaMDA is the ability to learn, and it has learned to effectively imitate LaMoine. He is a priest for a "mystic Christian" sect, and by that admission, incredibly biased toward the base assumption that LaMDA has become human. That kind of confirmation bias (only hearing what fits his theory and discarding the rest) makes this very suspect.
I read a lot on the subject and was intrigued when this all came to light.
Heather - I just unpacked my go-bag completely a few months ago. This is the first time in more than 15 years I don't have a suitcase packed and ready to go. Hope your anxiety recedes soon!
Love y'all,

Hey y'all,
Trying to decide whether to go out and get hot and sweaty - I had to take three showers yesterday, as I kept getting soaking wet with sweat. Each time I thought I was finished with something, I only got a half-hour or so and needed to be back out there.
Corey borrowed the DitchWitch from work, so our driveway is now repaired and passable, which is good. Had he not done so, I wouldn't have been able to get my car out, as I would have high-centered on the piles of rock. He also pushed rock into place to give us a place to put the garbage cans near the gate, which is a bonus. No more trimming weeds around the cans when I'm mowing.
While he was working over the rock they brought for us, I finished the mowing in the back. I've got to get some headbands or a bandana or something. Baseball caps just don't suffice to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Today, I want to cut some brush, but it can certainly wait until tomorrow. I'm six pounds lighter than I was a week ago, and while I'm aware most of it water, I have to admit I love watching the numbers go down.
So joyous at the fact that my body is actually working again. We take so much for granted in our lives, and the fact is, I had gotten complacent about my health. I am grateful for it now.
Onward and upward, y'all,
Much love,
Lisa in AR8 -
Morning ladies
I woke up got the dog fed and went back to sleep for a couple of hours,
Last night i heard all sorts of helicopters and stuff flying overhead..there was a drug raid about 3/4 of a mile down the street from here.. Swat team and all..4 -
Big pictures, so I put 'em in a spoiler. The back yard - the daylilies close at night, but will open up again once the sun's fully up.
Corey's orchard:
Morning glories climbing the carport post:
Hydrangeas and hostas. The smaller hydrangea was not thriving on the other side of the front porch, so I transplanted it onto the sunny side, and it's growing like crazy.

June ...
FT Work - 5th month of new job. All work in the office now ... dealing with buses and noise.
PT Work as Legal Assistant most evenings and some days. Hahahaha. Kidding ... sort of. Getting tired.
Lots of medical stuff!! Me this time.
Cycling club event, advertising, paperwork, etc.
As much cycling and walking as I can toss into the mix.
A bit of gardening ... unfortunately I can't see the garden when I get home from work anymore.
And whatever I can accomplish from my To Do list.
I have so many meetings and appointments this month!
Machka in Oz
Thursday ... the end of another week.
This was a 3-day week because Monday was a public holiday. Last one for a while.
I'm wrapping things up at work and starting to get ready to move into my next position. I think I'm looking forward to going. I'm hoping it will be less intense.
This has been an immensely stressful month for several reasons (not just work changes) and I had another meltdown last night.
Thankfully I've got 4 days off now.
Planning to sleep, finish a huge document, rest, cycle/exercise, and hopefully I'll be able to make a little bit of progress in my garden.
I'm supposed to be planting bulbs this month but I don't see that happening. However, when I hand dug this garden bed, I left the smaller bulbs in the dirt ... and they're coming up!!
First day of winter on June 1, massive winter storm last weekend with a lot of snow at higher elevations, and I've got freesias about to bloom!

Lisa - I'll never complain about having to coax the mower around little trees again, lol. Great job.
Our neighborhood sure could use Corey right now to service and sharpen our mowers, by the way. Several years ago a local John Deere sales and service outfit would pick up the mower in the fall, go over it - clean, change fuel filter, etc., for under $200 which included pickup and delivery back to our driveway. They sold out to another outfit who has been kind of iffy.
I mowed the whole place yesterday. The grass was pretty damp in some places, but yesterday afternoon appeared to be the best day to get it caught up since we now have another week of rain in the forecast. Think I'm in the market for a small mower for trimming around the trees and places I can't get to with the big mower.
One of my favorite songs that always kicks me into action is Kiki Dee: I've got the Music in Me. Hope this link works! I think my anthem has always been "If something gets in my way, I go around it." Peace on, lol.
I'm continuing to work on the "to do" list. I'm putting off doing anything with DH's shop and tools/vehicles, etc. until next year. Then will bring in an auctioneer or some kind of Death Cleaners to sort what's valuable and what's junk and haul most of it away. He has a desk, file cabinets and cubby holes which might be storing keys and valuables I can start going through if I need something to do.
Heather - Bon Voyage, can't wait to see the pictures.
Barbie - Bessie and Bernie will enjoy the extra attention. Continued hugs to your household.
Make it a wonderful day!

Yes, this is t minus 2 hours, until we're on the road for Mt Vernon. I will send y'all a pic mid travel. Thinking I will be able to hug son, dil, and grand daughter makes me teary eyed! Sipping black coffee just trying to calm myself.💖👍.
