Just Give Me 10 Days - Round 191

Still going down but I don't think that I will reach my goal of 148 this round. But if I get down to 150 solid that will be a good change. I over-estimated as I didn't think about the fact that this is just 10 days! I will keep up with these rounds and work my way down!

6/26: 252.6
6/27: 253.2
6/28: 252.2
6/29: 251.2 – it is great to see the loss today as I struggled very hard to stay on plan yesterday. I am finding it more and more difficult to plan and cook my meals to plan. I want to give in and get something quick, easy and very bad for me. Yesterday was a bad day from the emotional point of view but I did manage to stay on plan although my calories were somewhat higher than normal, but still OK. I was doing fine without grains (bread, pasta, rice, corn etc.), but I am now (over a month in) starting to really miss them on bad days like yesterday. Luckily, I don’t really have anything in the house so it is harder to give in to cravings! I hope that today will be better
6/30: 251.0 – Staying on plan was easier yesterday. But I am struggling with doing all that prepping and cooking of meals. Planning far enough ahead that I know what I am going to eat is difficult. But if I don’t do that, I will make poor decisions about meals. But I am still hanging in there.

I know half a pound isn’t significant, but still….Ever since the doctor’s dietitian put me on that very restrictive elimination diet 4 years ago to look for sensitivities (I have none), I find it harder than it’s ever been in my life to lose weight, and oh so easy to gain. I should have known better, but the quick weight loss then was so gratifying I didn’t question it. They — especially the dietician —should have known better for sure! Ok, just letting off steam, because it’s so frustrating to find it so hard to lose when I’m sticking to my food goals. No hugs needed, I’m just venting, and I’ll keep sticking to it. Have a lovely Sunday!

Ok, whatever. I did have some rhubarb ginger crisp last night, but my overall calories were fine. I made my 26th different weekly soup yesterday—West African Peanut Soup with chicken. Really good! This soup challenge has been a lot of fun. Now to find 26 more different soups! 🍵

Whaaaa??? This makes no sense, unless I’m waterlogged. I mean, it has to be water—I didn’t gain a pound and a half overnight. Calories were fine, though fat was a bit high, and I was on my feet at dog training for 5 hours, so not exactly sedentary. I don’t get it. I thought about fibbing to you guys, but what’s the point of that? Anyway, I’m disgusted. Hoping it falls back off.

That’s better. And I was so glum yesterday I forget to mention Tuesday was my pup Rory’s birthday! He’s a year old now, and to celebrate, he passed his AKC Temperment and Advanced Canine Good Citizen tests and his Therapy Dog test on Tuesday, the first day he was eligible. Here he is looking all grown up.

He’s a year old now, and to celebrate, he passed his AKC Temperment and Advanced Canine Good Citizen tests and his Therapy Dog test on Tuesday, the first day he was eligible. Here he is looking all grown up.

/nothing/ Time to buckle down before July. I am eating away from home for four out of the five weekends in July, and the other one is a holiday weekend.
6/28: 216
/some “nominal” dumbbell work/ I lost a pound even though lunch and supper were both restaurant meals. I have some major work to do if I plan to lower my 10-day average.
6/29: 216
/yoga and spinning/ I would have thought a pound or two would have sweated off. I did eat back a couple hundred exercise calories….
6/30: 216
/grass mowing/ My current habit of rounding to the nearest whole number hides a bit of progress. But, let’s face it, when my goal is over ten pounds away… whole numbers tell the story just fine.
On another note, I don’t think eating back my exercise calories is serving me well. Neither is my weakness for salty food.

ROUND 189

ROUND 190
SW: ?6/24 176.6 back from vacation. was i stressing over gaining weight so i didn't eat as much, or was i not stress eating? kinda like that old tootsie pop commercial, "the world may never know".ROUND 191
6/25 175.8 don't believe everything you see. it HAS to be my scale messing with me again because everyone knows i don't lose almost a pound overnight. someday i will invest in a better scale. until then....i'm enjoying the tiny fibs it tells me every once in a while.
SW: 174.4
Day/Weight/Comment
6/26: 174.4 i will keep accepting these lower weights my scale is spitting out, just as i will accept the higher ones when it decides to tell the truth. maybe it's all my fault, and i should change the batteries? I forgot to mention my failures that have occurred since vacation. i am ashamed to say i have had a set back in my quitting smoking. i know that i will have to get that under control as well as my eating habits. i have also failed in my walking. i will need to get motivated and include that also. i have emotional stress in my life right now, which i see an end to in the future but that will take a few months. my weeks vacation visiting with family was nothing but smiles and laughter. driving home my failures began, and i realized i must do something besides diet and exercise for myself. i will continue to recognize my failures, but i will not beat myself up over them. a slow and steady path in the right direction is what i have chosen.
6/27: 174.4 i looked up how many calories i should be eating if i am sedentary and oh lordy lordy they're really trying to starve people! i did my check in yesterday and "whoop whoop" my neck is 1/2 in thinner! wow! was that a good feeling! i still haven't gotten back to my walks outside. i did spend 3 hours walking in a circle around my livingroom yesterday, and i think i am going to start calling the time i struggle with the dog to take her medicine "my cardio workout".
6/28: 174.8 OK scale... i must weigh 174.(something). my calories were good, my macros were good. my exercise was non-existant. aaarrrgggh, i thought getting back to exercising would be easier than this.
6/29: 174 changed the batteries in my scale, and my weight remained about the same. i'm owing my scale an apology now for accusing it of lying to me. my calorie intake was super low yesterday, i wasn't feeling very hungry. maybe it was because of the migraine lurking to attack me last night, but it's almost noon time today and i still have no appetite. i was thinking earlier how great this group is. no one is judgmental and everyone so supportive. it's excellent therapy without the giant price tag.
6/30: 173.6 another day of too low intake, but again great macros. i forced myself to go for my walk yesterday. 1.9mi @3mph. when i got home i was questioning my sanity. 2 weeks without walking, last night felt like a nightmare, but i'm sure it'll get better again. i am trying to do my walks 3-4 times a week.

6/26: 133.2 - Well, I was over in calories yesterday but did drink a ton of water and got both my workouts in, Excellent sleep for once even though I went to bed quite late.
6/27: 132.7 - Ate pretty well - balanced macros. Need to get back to not eating after 8pm though. Good workout and a dog walk (not ours - it was fun!).
6/28: 132.9 - Got my normal workouts in although I was a little tired in the afternoon. Dinner was a little heavier than usual (or I ate a bit more). Good sleep.
6/29: 134.0 - Had two social events yesterday that derailed my eating. Normal workouts though.
6/30: 134.0 - Normal workouts and cleaning out my closet yesterday. I’m now 10 pairs of shoes lighter. :-) I figured high heels weren’t really something I was going to wear anymore now that I’m retired. I also realized that all my old work shoes and clothes were black, black, and more black. I’m excited to bring more color into my outerwear and shoes.

06/25 …..203.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
06/26 …..202.8 ….. (Trend weight 204.0) I’m happy to start this round with a one pound drop. I carefully planned my meals and snacks yesterday, just not enough movement because it was so hot! Good luck to everyone this round. We’re in this together! Thanks Jaine for posting this and continuing to be an inspiration!
06/27 …..198.4 ….. (Trend weight 203.5) Onederland, Onederland!!!! But a 4 ½ lb loss overnight? Hard to believe. I took batteries in and out several times. Then tried new ones. Even moved the scale to my non-typical spot. Yep, 198.2. The only explanation is that I did take my waterpill yesterday since I was home. (I won’t be able to take it the next 3 days as I’ll be away from home). But THAT much water retention due to heart no pumping properly? Wow! So today is the ultrasound on the heart and I get hooked up to a heart monitor I will wear home for a couple of days. Then traveling even further south for some building supplies at a special store. Going with my son. When we hit the big city I promised him golden corral and we may try to fit in the Elvis movie. Scale will be up tomorrow from GC and lots of sitting but I plan on making it a nice day for the two of us. Watch what you put on the plate Donna!
06/28 …..198.8 ….. (Trend weight 203.0)
I had yesterday’s weight off by 0.2 so I have corrected it. I’ll take what I see today on the scale gladly after so much travel sitting, hospital sitting, theater sitting and Golden Corral. Ultrasound was completed and I have a monitor on now (that added a few ounces to my scale too?). Feeling really motivated right now seeing the 100’s instead of 200’s, even after travel. I have my oldest grandson’s birthday deal with me later today. I am taking him to the salon for a facial and acne treatment (pimple extraction). I want to see how his skin reacts. Would be such a nice thing before school pix etc. I am back to travel/hospital tomorrow for the nuclear stress test and monitor removal. I am working hard to stay focused and not let the situations limit my progress. I’m not gonna lie, I’m very stressed out about the stress test. I hope I don’t have a heart attack in the middle of it. When I say I can’t breathe, I’m being serious here. But I do want some answers. By the way, I loved, loved, loved the Elvis movie. Even my 25 year old son really liked it and he’s not exactly an Elvis fan. It was as much about Col. Tom Parker as it was Elvis. A very interesting story and all the actors were wonderful including Tom Hanks. Rotten Tomatoes gave it high scores and it tied for number one at the box office this past opening weekend with Top Gun Maverick. Glad I went.
06/29 …..201.0 ….. (Trend weight 202.8) I’m not too surprised to see the jump up even though it is always disappointing. Celebrated DGS 16th birthday yesterday and ended up about 246 calories over. I feel some of this is also from the outing the day before catching up to me. I mean, I was careful but it WAS Golden Corral. Today is travel back to the hospital. Nervous about the testing and missing my coffee already. Afterward, Shopping and restaurant lunch with my friend who is going with me later. I will keep my eye on the ball and watch what I order.
06/30 …..DNW ….. (Trend weight DNW] After 3 days of travel sitting, a 4 hour (mostly sitting) testing window and restaurants, I did not want to see the temporary rise again, so I will weigh tomorrow and take the punches then. Hopefully it will not be too inflated by then. Heart monitor is off. Now I wait for a call from the doctor for immediate results, then an appt on July 12 for a treatment plan.

Day, Weight, Comment
6/26: 158.2 - today is my “relaxed eating” day so I fully anticipate a gain on the scale tomorrow. I will take it because I feel great, I still tracked all of my food (a huge win for me), I still got some movement in, and I’m ready to jump into tomorrow!
6/27: 157.9 - feeling a little under the weather today, but pleasantly surprised at my weigh in this morning. I’m feeling extra hungry and a little headachy today but I had a good workout this morning so that definitely helped.
6/28: 156.9 - yesterday ended up being a great day! I was able to avoid a binge, I ate well within my calorie range, and had a good workout. I started this morning big with a workout but we have pizza every Tuesday night, so I generally expect a little gain on Wednesday mornings.
6/29: 156.9 - I stayed exactly the same as yesterday so I’m thrilled! Here’s to another day of tracking!
6/30: 155.8 - wow! Y’all today is a great day to have a great day! I am just feeling incredible this week! Tracking and exercise and water, oh my!

6/26 - 166.7 - 14,500 steps / 74 active minutes. Had a few/several adult beverages and didn’t really track but ate mindfully. Sandwich, veggies and a few treats at the tea. Then 2 tiny pieces of pizza and a small amount of chips. This number is mostly puff and water not worried at all. I work at this so I can enjoy these days. Oh … I had many people tell me that I was looking good and that they see me walking lol.
6/27 - 167.2* - 15,300 / 90. Baby shower lots of sitting, and hot weather!! Did get a walk in. SO called to say he should be flying home today. Happy but it kinda means it will take longer to drop back down, eh will see. No hugs needed I was expecting this and it will get back down soon, all part of it.
6/28 - 168.1 - 16,700 / 113. Hooray SO is home and my tummy is full of sushi rice. Enjoyed a nice sushi picnic. Sleep was horrible. Not worried about the number, but I am pretty bloated over these last few days. Hoping for a nice light dinner. Been a little behind on the post readings hopefully I can catch up soon. Keep at it all!!
6/29 - 168.9 - 11,100 / 68. Hit my June Challenge of 398.1 Km for the month. Just been hitting my minimums right now. Scale increase due to Pasta, SO home, minimums TOM, alcohol, terrible sleep, TMI and family events. Interesting my water % did hit optimal level, it's usually in the low range. Fat % is the same as 165 and muscle is up too. The body is an interesting thing. Long weekend coming up this might be a few days before I go down again.
6/30 - 170.2* - 11,200 / 58. Another low key day with nothing aligning. Visited friends camping and had hot dogs and snacks.

@karilbrandt ... Oh for sure it is. It's interesting my scale says that I am down in fat and up in water, the water rate is at a 'optimal' level, but I can see I'm puffy.
@SheilaBoneham ... "fibbing" I feel you there. While I totally understand my numbers I kinda felt like just saying DNW but I own it and I know it's not fat. and ... Way to go Rory!!

6/27 228.4 Didn’t sleep at all well last night and I think I’m still getting rid of the sodium from an (amazing) Mexican meal Saturday night. Headed to the doctor for my annual physical today and for the first time in a long time I’m not dreading it. Welcome new friends!!
6/28 228.2 Much better sleep last night. Dr. was thrilled with the 30+ pound loss since last time I was in and is taking me off cholesterol meds to see if I can maintain progress without them. Exactly the outcome I was hoping for. Everything for today is planned and logged.
6/29 227.2 New recipe for dinner last night – chicken roll-ups with boursin cheese and basil. A definite keeper. Otherwise, everything for today is planned and logged.
6/30 227.2 Dinner got blown off course yesterday and fast food was the end result. With that in mind I’m glad to hold steady. Got to get back into my workout routine – that’s today’s goal.

I used to do this challenge back in 2019 when I was on my weight loss journey. Pandemic hit and I gained it all back. I lost a bit in January this year but the number on the scale is creeping back up so I'm returning to myfitnesspal and the 10 day challenge.

@JbeanR0212 That Goldie Hawn quote reminded me of one from my BFF’s therapist. I think of it often when my husband says he wants to move - “No matter where you go, there YOU are.” We can never escape from ourselves and only we can change our attitudes.
@SheilaBoneham Congratulations to Rory (and you) and happy birthday to Rory! He’s beautiful.
@deewoodslady “Waiting for immediate results” sounds rather contradictory. Hugs while you wait!3 -
Struggling to getting back on track. Fatigue and emotions keep derailing me but I'm not defeated until I stop trying. I get so focus on the immediate 3# yo-yoing that I forget that I've already lost 20.

6/27 120.5 GKI 12.7 Can sum this up in 3 words - HOT HOMEMADE BREAD!!! 2 slices buttered and Greek Salad with steak. No TMI in a couple of days Why does bread/wheat taste so good and treat me so bad(ly)??? Not worried about this bump.
6/28 120.5 GKI 13.0 Gotta give the bread away!
6/29 119.5 GKI 13.1 DH has been having balance issues for a week and is waiting for a referral. He just called to find out the statues-in the past it has taken only a few days-he was just told it takes up to 2 weeks to be processed! Meanwhile, he doesn’t like anything or anyone and yada yada. . . Sorry, it’s getting old.
6/30 118.5 GKI 6.4 “Grumpy old man” and “getting grumpy old woman” had no eating plans in place. He ate the left over egg salad and I ate the leftover piece of rib eye. Around 5 or 6 we went to In-n-Out. I got the Double Double Protein style (no bun, wrapped in lettuce) with no spread (Russian dressing) added tomato and grilled onion as well as part of DH’s fresh onion. Cal over by almost 200, total carbs 9, protein and fat both over. This weekend involves stock car races (= possible junk food) and 4th of July community “picnic.” Life is good, we have to learn to roll with the punches. Or as I said some time back Up and down - just riding the waves of life. 🌊 🏄♀️5 -

6/30 - 153.6 - I have zero clue what's going on with my body. I will say I'm quite sore in the lower legs (mostly shin/calves, a little in thighs) from all the walking up and down the hills in my new neighborhood recently. Tomorrow I'm off work (every other Friday off) and BF is able to be mobile with his work so we are getting out of house to do something with kids. Saturday I drive kids to Oklahoma to meet their mom so they can spend a week with her for the 4th (BF is on go-live, working 7 days a week starting Saturday until the 15th). On the 9th I go back to Oklahoma to meet mom to get kids back for remainder of summer. Hoping the travel doesn't shoot my weight straight up. Hanging in there, drinking my water, and trying to get extra movement where I can. Food will fall into place soon, I'm sure.

Previous Day's Comments6/26 - DNP
6/27 - No proper TMI for a couple days with lots and lots of sodium bloat. Back on track today. Finally got access to my new company's wellness and connect everything. I'm also trying to figure out my schedule to allow me to work out throughout the week without missing work or dropping off/picking up BigBro. It'll likely still take a few weeks to really get into a nice routine, but I'm getting there. Not sure what today holds. Goddaughter's last t-ball game tonight so we will be going to that. It's at 7, but we have to pick up Bigbro from work. Won't have time to do that, come home to cook, then drive back out so I have a feeling we will be eating out. Will focus on healthier options during the workday instead. Also focusing on water and getting up to move frequently throughout the day, even if I'm not using the bike, rower, or bodyweight moves for a proper workout.
6/28 - Still holding on to water and TMI... sigh. I did get out for an evening walk with the pup last night after the rain passed. Hoping to do something similar today. Fitbit died this morning so steps from about 8am to 11am were not counted but there were some! Realize I posted on the wrong date yesterday so I adjusted that today. Water and watching food today as yesterday wasn't great food-wise with the t-ball game and eating out. Grilled or smoked chicken tonight, based on what's thawing. Training today and starting on my first ever project! Eeek I'm nervous. But it's keeping me busy so I'm okay with that.
6/29 - Finally losing some of the water weight. Got a little TMI movement, but I'm not quite back to normal in that regards so likely holding on to some extra weight there, as well. Water was good yesterday at 90oz. BF took BigBro to work this morning so the SD and I went out for a "photography walk" to take pictures of sunrise with the big camera. Only to come home and realize my SD card reader is MIA... Just ordered a new one, though, which should be here Friday to see how they turned out for real. I got more steps in before work today than I ever did while commuting to work! Plus some quality time. Remote work has been fantastic. I have a couple days of posts to catch up on so I'm going to do that now. Not sure food for today, but will try to keep it in check throughout the day in case dinner is a bit more calorie-dense or unhealthy. Depending on dinner (if we go to Fam's or stay home) will take pup for another walk like we did last night. She's loving the remote work as well haha!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

6/29 208.8 I’ll take it. Very happy with this number, not what I thought it would be. Anything in the downward direction is wonderful.
