I must have missed something juicy
BAhahahhaha! Omigod, Pip! I love you!
Katla- Healing thoughts and prayers to your DH! So glad your kids are there to help.
Heather- I see you are reading Delia Ephron! Just want to pass a long a quick and funny read by Nora Ephron. It is called "I Feel Bad About My Neck". I read it in a day and was laughing so hard through the whole thing.
Losing wallets/personal info- Once, I lost my wallet/purse at the store. I didn't realize that I no longer had it, until I was home and had the groceries put away and went to reach for my purse to get the receipts. DH and I went back to the store and checked with customer service, lost and found, checked carts in the lot and in the store. Nothing. We cancelled all of the cards and ordered a new driver's license. etc. Well, I found my purse about two months later; in the freezer under about four pounds of hamburger. lol Now, whenever I can't find something my DH says, "Did you check the freezer?"
Machka - Let's see...your weekend has started...I think you will take a relaxing walk or bike ride, maybe two. It is winter, there; does Rhody still explore the yard in the winter? I hope you get time to relax and recharge after your first week at your new job.
Carol- Thank you for the anniversary wishes. It was a very low key "celebration". lol I worked. DH tried some cbd pills (finally) for pain management. My son brought home dinner for us. Chinese food. Always a good call.
Rori- Mars visits neighbors and is rewarded with avocado! Mmmmm!
Ah well, it is Friday and my numbers for today are low, due to a few kids out with different illnesses. I really, REALLY believe the 1 1/2-2 years of social distancing has done NOTHING for any one's immune systems. Especially the little ones, who need germs to build an immune system. They are catching EVERYTHING and in turn, are giving it to me. If we do one thing well in childcare, that would be sharing germs. Gah. Weekend coming and I am so ready for it. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -

Friday -- Raining this evening (and all day)
In answer to your question, Kelly, Rhody goes out for a little while during the day if the sun is out. Today he wasn't out much because of the rain. Then when I come home from work, I'll often take him for a walk on his leash, but not today. Pouring rain.
What we end up doing will depend on the weather. As you mentioned, Kelly, it is winter so the weather can be quite changeable. It's cool and if it's raining, it'll be that bitterly cold rain with a wind.
I've been colouring and the Tour de France is on. I probably will dream of cycling.

What do they do with the folks that really need assistance? Just curious....they care for blind, dementia, etc......Anyways, was a good drive (8 hrs round trip), no change in his eye, back in 8 months.
Kylia in Ohio where it is stormy today
I have to get quite demanding sometimes.
I used to be shy and retiring ... not so much anymore.

Katla: Holding you and DH in my thoughts. I am so glad the kids are there to help you. How long are they staying?
The nice thing about having a social cat that walks on a leash is that it does open up opportunities to meet the neighbors. I have three houses across the street where the elderly residents do not have any pets, so having Mars come over for a porch visit brightens their day. Today we just happened to visit a lady who was celebrating her birthday, and Mars sat at her feet while we chatted for 15 mins. Didn't hurt that she gave him a smidge of her avocado. 😸
Work continues to be fun. Have seen Halsey, Blues Traveller and Bob Dylan, and the week isn't over yet. They days have been very warm, but every evening a series of thundershowers rolls through, sometimes soaking us, sometimes just drizzling then dazzling us with rainbows.

Does some of Mars' harness go around his middle?
Rhody's harnesses have a loop around his neck and a loop around his middle and a bit that joins the two loops. Then there's a place for me to attach his lead to the loop around his middle.
He's become really good at walking with me.

Went for a 2 mile walk by the sea this morning. By 9 am it was too hot for me! Going to get hotter 🤪. I am feeling very 'off' and tired. I will have a nap this afternoon. DH is doing better it seems. I'm full of aches.
I picked up a few items at the artisan bakery. Most have gone into the freezer, but we will have the asparagus focaccia tomorrow. Waitrose have just been with a delivery and DH went out this morning to get fruit and veg. So we are all set.
Haven't seen the grandchildren yet since we've been back. Missing them. We are due to go to the women's Euro match on Monday with my son and Edie but I would love to see them before that. No energy though. I couldn't walk over there right now.
Katla - you are in my thoughts.

Stay in and get some rest!
Here, people with COVID are supposed to isolate (preferably inside their own homes) for 7 days ... or more if they've still got symptoms. And a lot of people seem to be feeling it for at least 10 days.
Cases are on the rise here, so I figure it's only a matter of time for me. I'd rather not get it this month (let me get more established at work) but a week at home with not much to do seems strangely appealing.

Back from the lab work, I never did find anything else I needed to get done in town, so came straight back home. Interested to see how the tests go, but don't expect results 'til early next week, just the way the VA handles things. No worries. Right now, all I want to do is take a nap anyway. Didn't sleep well last night, as I never got around to removing the broken window A/C and putting the new one in. That was at least partially because it's a pain in the bohonkus to do on your own.
I am such a princess, not having the right noises all night kept me very restless and quite sweaty. Grrf. Right now I'm going to take a nap, and then see if there's any of my energy renewed enough to get that little chore done so I can continue being a princess and sleep well tonight... I mean no offense to any princesses, forum or domestic.

Friendly reminder ... we have a Group! Remember, it was created a couple years ago? It's still going.
There isn't a lot of activity, but there is some.
It is somewhat more protected than what we post here which can be accessed by any search engine.
So if you'd like to talk about political or religious things, that's the place to go. You could post things that are more personal there too if you would like ... no pressure.
If you have trouble getting in, let us know.

Katla Heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Time to be extra kind to yourself and know your DH is getting the care that he needs. Prayers.
In my quest to find out alteratives to help my dog DrewB with her anemia. I learned part of what might have caused her condition besides the vaccines is stress. To be adopted three times and all the vet business that was done to her because of her multiple adoptions and and COVID took a toil on her. I am aiming to keep her stress down and mine too because she picks up when I am overstressed too. Dogs are very good at hiding their pain. She does not fool me.
Annie a role model for me to work on saying NO when the need arises. Better for me to be proactive than reactive. Because I know what happens when I am reactive. Best for all concerned to not get to that point.
I found a great group on FACEBOOK that gave me many holistic ideas on how to help her. I also think the holiatic diet I am transfering her to is bringing a sparkle back to her eyes. Yes food is part of a healing plan.
I am grateful for all the info I find here and on the web. I am better for it.
Time to go walk DrewB.3 -
Lisa glad your bloodwork done. My dr office dropped the ball getting orders to lab. I went to dr, picked up orders, now am walkin at lab. Maybe soon....1

Katla,
I see you are posting both here and in the private group Machka mentioned, so I will post this message both places.
You are handling your situation with such grace. I am relieved for you that you are considering moving near your daughter. You'll have the support you need, and you'll finally get to be a part of your
grandchildren's lives, something you have wanted for a long time.
I know you have been reluctant to give up your little slice of heaven, (and understandably so!), but now that it is time, you seem to be embracing it. My hat is off to you. Much admiration.

Sinus surgery soon. New meds make me sleepy so they will have trouble waking up! Lol. Good day to sleep. It’s actually overcast and rained a little so yup, good day for recovery.
You all are my go to for venting, support, and ideas. Live you girls! (Almost typed guys!) lol
Wish me luck.
RvRita5 -
Katla, I am so very sorry about DH. Prayers for his health and recovery.
THERE Flea... you have every reason to be careful and you are! Makes sense. God Bless you for what you do, BTW. And that's not to say we shouldn't all be careful, but we need to be reasonable too.
Kim, it's one thing to share information, quite another to make people feel bad or shame them for sharing pictures of their children or grands with online friends and, IMO, I believe that's what some people think has happened here..... IMO.
Made it to Canton in one piece! At 1am... OMG. What a long day. Anne hates driving my car, so I do all the driving. I was clawing at my contacts by the time we got to the room. Crashed until about 9am and now I'm just waiting for them to wake up... LOL. Kids... smh. Not much to do today. We'll find something. Caddie's with her other grandparents and cousins, in Fremont, OH, for the weekend. SO excited. We dropped her there about midnight last night.

Machka- there is another privste forum?
I just had a thought and was chuckling to myself.. i can see you and your husband cycling with Rhody in a backpack...with his head sticking out with kitty goggles on a little scarf blowing in the breeze..
What a hoot..

Good morning ladies!
I did my dumbbells last night, and my yoga and fast marching today. Yay!
Next is a bunch of phone calls to make medical appointments. Plus I seem to have lost my blood work order.
I think my latest diet cheat streak is over. We will see soon what the damage is. Then I need to be really good until the family visit.
Katla, thinking of you!

I gained 1.2 pounds last week. Gotta rein that in!

Pip--Great time on your run. Just remember baby steps and don't over do to fast.
Ginny--Mine is an apple watch also. I keep forgetting as I had the fitbit for years and DH got me the apple watch for my birthday this last year. I am still trying to figure it out. The fall feature surprised me but know it is a good thing as my balance has been off lately.
I too am so glad it is Friday. I have felt off all week, I would of called in, but since we are short of help and I am the one that comes in when someone calls in, I am here. I am signed up to give blood this morning as Red Cross does it here at the hospital about every 3 months. Doesn't take long and just do it for my break.
Well went to give blood and they were late getting started and short on help. But it is done.
Heather--Pray you and Johnny feel better soon. It takes time and lots of rest.
Margaret--Glad you are getting the information you need to make things better for Drew. Stress does a lot and our dog Kia has an abusive back ground and when DBIL had her it was not stable. She has been with us since last Aug and is finally starting to relax and enjoy cuddles and being with us. She does follow DH around all the time and when he is outside she is right beside him.
No big plans for the weekend, just going to try and relax.

I think healing anything hurts somewhere else. I have been in pain for in some area since 1995. I fix one spot another goes it seems.
Viv - DH and I are trying to figure out a place for a few days break too.
If I could do anything with my day. I would have everyone together and we would just enjoy each other’s company. Maybe my SIL would cook supper.
That button bicycle is cute.
Lisa - I have had my wallet stolen and I also had some kind of activity on a bank account once. They tried to deposit a “cheque” and withdraw money. However, I hadn’t used that account in a while so they didn’t get anything. Except for the cash that was in my wallet and the cost of having ID replaced it wasn’t that big a deal to me. It just taught me a lesson on being more careful on city transit. Truthfully, they would probably feel sorry for wasting their time on trying to steal my identity. There is nothing to take and my credit sucks.
I have my FB set to private, I did that years ago and test it regularly because as a manager I had a lot of staff try to friend me and rather than make things awkward by saying no and them being hurt, I just made it so they couldn’t find me as easily.
Lanette - we were told by the pest control guy that mice need to relocated 75kms away or they would return “home”. Squirrels are 30kms and skunks are 50. Things I really wish I didn’t know.
We have the same weather pattern I think.
Machka - I’ll have to watch that movie. I will always need an in person social life. I find myself get very lonely very fast. DH could be a hermit though, so I understand it.
I’m sure relaxing should be on your to do list for the weekend, but I’m sure you have lots to do again
Katla - Hugs to you and your family.
Flea - I hope you get to retire and enjoy your life soon.
Thanks Michele - I used a stylus. I have a set with 6 different ends so I can make different size dots. I have used paint brush ends too, but these are a little more consistent in size than the brushes for me anyway.
I would try a can of frozen concentrate juice that has melted maybe. Or add sugar to the apple juice.
Rebecca - I bet Athena and the harmonica made you tear up with happy tears a bit.
We finally had a sunny afternoon and it just lead to severe thunderstorms and in one area a tornado. 6-9 homes damaged.
The tornado was in the area of the province where my Grandson is currently at camp. I worried a bit and kept a close eye on the path and it didn’t look like it was near enough. My daughter texted tonight that the camp was untouched.
The dog we are watching has fallen for my husband. Rodger can’t sit without the dog, Jeb, pushing his hand up until it lands on his head. He then moves his head until Rodger starts petting him. When he feels he’s been petted enough he just lays his whole head in Rodger’s lap. It’s quite comical. His owner asked me if Jeb had stolen my husband yet? 😂
I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday. If I didn’t live under the firm belief that I’d you lie to get out of going to work because you’re sick, you end up sick, I would definitely call in sick tomorrow.
Too bad there wasn’t an “I just need an extra day” type of day.

by the time I got to sleep last night it was just over 19,050 and after all that, I had trouble getting to sleep. Was glad I finally got to sleep in
woke up to this:
Got to finally sleep in. Going to walk MIL's dog after the daycare girl comes in and she comes an hour later on Fridays. Still waiting for her while I check in here and have my tea.
We will walk the dog at the park so she can play then come home for lunch.
Need to work in my garden, tying up the cucumbers and tomatoes. Was going to do that yesterday abut got to go walk instead.
Walking again tonight with another friend.
Sunday will be a full month since MIL fell the first time and we started being there all the time.DH was finally able to get 5 hours sleep. First time in a month. Other nights it has been 2-3hrs here and there.
He is finally started to let her do more for herself- She can, she just wants everyone to do them for her(and then gets mad at you for it)
No real plans for the weekend.
Hoping to go back to church after missing the last three weeks because of being with her while he worked.
Rori- I have found that too with MIL's dog. There are a few elderly that are out in their yard or walking and they ask if they can pet him. They really enjoy it and thank me for letting them. It really is just simple things that can make a big difference to some people. Things we just tend to take for granted. He really is a pain in the butt dog but MIL really loves him(even though she yells at him constantly to either go eat or to go to bed)-that really is the only thing she loves anymore.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies.

and that weird noise that went with it. Hearing that noise from the kitchen while I was making my son's breakfast way back when he was about 2 and finding out that he had memorized the keystrokes for my password and was logging on- before he knew the letters- That was a big surprise- didn't know how to do anything on the computer but did know how to log on.3 -
We were just relaxing after our fish soup this evening when the doorbell rang. When we answered it, it was DDIL and Bea bringing us get well cards from all the kids. It really cheered us up, but they stayed out by the garden gate. Wonderful to see them.
DDIL said she was tired for 2 weeks and they didn't feel completely themselves for a month. I have spent all day in bed, apart from my morning walk. I feel fine, but am just tired. DH is good.
I have films to watch and good books to read. Hoping for an increase in energy soon.
Here are the cards they made.
Hoping to hear from my son about the arrangements for Monday football.
Bea says in her card that she hopes we are better by Tuesday when we usually pick her up. DH won't be there as he is at cricket and I fear it will be too hot for me unless I take an Uber there.

When we started leash walking with Mars 11+ years ago, there wasn't much to chose from by way cat harnesses. He had one for about a month, but my DH struggled with the buckle. One day I came back from a business trip, and DH had switched to a standard dog leash and collar for walking. It is loose enough to slip over his head like a halter. We have used that ever since.3 -

Oh @Katla49! Praying for your DH’s healing, for strength and comfort for you and yours. So thankful your DS and DD can be there with you. Saw you had trouble connecting here, hope it’s all solved? What Karen in VA said. (((hugs))) held extra long.
Yesterday started well with wt down below this week’s goal. Continued with shopping marathon for most steps since Feb 18 this year. Alas, I let exhaustion, red wine and availability of sweets take my CI over CO, with predictable results this morning. Today will stay AF and within plan.
Welcome @Julie7869 ! Would you let us know your very general locale so we can keep you straight from our other Julie in France? Bookmark this thread and come back often.
Lanette we are “catch and releasers” too of mice and most but not all spiders.
Flea so sorry to hear of your mother’s troubles. Prayers and ((hugs)). Perspective shift to sooner rather than later retirement entirely appropriate imho.
Rita “nothing is truly safe” a reminder that all security is an illusion. We live our lives the best we can. So very glad you had a good connection with this counselor. Luck for the sinus surgery, swift, complete and pain free recovery.
Carol, Carla and Mary, honestly believe the security warning posts came from love and concern, not to make anyone feel foolish or wrong. Friends don’t let friends drive drunk, or encourage them to continue in other risky behavior unawares. Once the risks are known, yes we are all adults and can live with the choices we make. Oops sorry for pompous! Allie and Rebecca said it better.
Vicki that is a great fitbit feature I didn’t know about. Hmm, maybe its time to invest.
Sue and Lisa and all suffering dental issues, ((hugs)) and warm pudding.
Pip you continue to amaze!
Michele, Might Mogen David Concord Grape wine be irresistible to the wasps?
Machka you are rolling over and going back to sleep!
Rori Mars likes avocado? I had a cat that loved watermelon… but avocado?
Tracey so very sorry for your long term pain since 1995 even though in different places. O m g. Are you able to sleep? Sure hope your pest guy is mistaken about the relocation distance. We’re content for the mice to nest in the ravine, just not in the pantry! Love hearing about Jeb the self-petting dog. And faking sick to get out of work resulting in real sickness, yup, that’s the ol’ law of attraction.
Lisa sounds like your Dr was quite thorough, ‘bout damtime. Bohunkus pain, that’s why Princesses have courtiers to help!
Kylia that receptionist needs remedial training. Yes they have rules, but there must be room for judgement. To fail to call you when DH was ready to leave. SMH.
KJ thanks for the I Feel Bad about my Neck” recommendation. I just love Nora Ephron. Reserved at library.
Heather the get well cards! For me the fatigue lasted 3 weeks after the week in bed. Baby steps, relapses stink.
Karen thanks for pointing us to Katla’s group posts.
Allie the image of a goggled (not Googled), backback riding Rhody.
Debbie you wake up in a nest of cats, I wake up in a pack of pooches. It’s amazing how much space the smaller one can take up
On my way to optician yesterday I struck and killed a squirrel. Unlike Beth I didn’t slow gradually but slammed on the brake, was lucky no one was closely following. At least I didn’t swerve, on that narrow windy section of road it could have been fatal. Felt so bad for the poor squirrel, Trying nto take it as a lesson that next time brake gradually not suddenly.
