I did! I slept 12 hours!!
First weeks, with all the changes, meeting new people, learning new stuff etc., always take it out of me.

My luck, I would get someone like an Inga, or Helga (no offense to anyone with that name), but it implies a large German lady that could whip my muscles into another realm. Again no disrespect to Germans, to the masseuse trade, or to large ladies of German persuasion.
Ahhh 12 hours, good on ya! Recharging is the best!
After 20 days away from products that aren't mine shower wise, it was nice to use what is mine, and rub my coconut oil from forehead to toes! I was a bit heavy handed, so managed to get some on my freshly shampooed hair. Its now day two, and my hair "looks" greasy but its not really dirty. My skin though is quite happy!

Love that Machka. Especially the shading on the leaves. I'm not sure why I can't bring myself to pick up a grown-up coloring book, but I think it has something to do with my inability to stay within the black lines.
It does remind me that I actually did want to create SOMEthing while Corey's away. To my knowledge, I don't have to be anywhere until I go to the airport to pick him up next week, so can't use scheduled calls or labs to give me an excuse. I have stretched canvas in a number of sizes to paint, and lots of paint, etc. I have all I need for four different projects, and haven't started any of them. I've been deadline driven all my working life, especially when I edited newspapers for a living. I think I'm missing it. At the same time, I'm balking at self-imposed deadlines, and I love the fact that I don't have to do anything if I don't want to.
Is a puzzlement:

Weird Saturday in progress at my house this morning--The monkey mind has taken over, and I'm just reeling from one thought process to the next...

Happy Saturday Ladies!
Carla - that zoo looked like a lot of fun, glad you all could go. We used to have Black Angus steakhouses in Seattle, not sure if they are still there. Great food as I recall. We are rooting for Anne and her team!
Heather - very glad to hear you and John are feeling better and getting some energy back. I'm with you on one-night-only visitors. Your brother and SIL sound like they are easy to get along with, which helps.
Security AlarmsDo any of you have door security alarms? I just watched a YouTube video about home security, which recommends having some type of door or window alarm (even cheap ones). Add that to some YouTube videos about neat stuff to get at the Dollar Tree, which included little alarms. Will check the store next time I'm in there and if they have them, pick up one or two. Anything loud enough to surprise a bad guy plus trigger the Rosie alarm will be good I think. Here's a peek at the Dollar Tree ones- I see Amazon has them, more expensive, with mixed reviews:

Do It On A Dime - Dollar Tree stuffI spent an hour last night watching these YouTube videos. Not sure about all of her suggestions, but for $1.25 at Dollar Tree, I found some worth trying out. I think she's in cahoots with Dollar Tree, lol. Which is fine.

I whipped down to the gas station at 5:30 this morning and got some gas for the mower. It was $.50 a gallon more expensive than in town, but I only got 3 gallons which should tide me over for a while.
Rocket StoveI was poking around in the big closet in the the garage where we packed a lot of stuff over the years. I came across a coffee can rocket stove, homemade by someone who was selling them at a craft fair. Think I paid $5. I see commercially manufactured ones cost a lot more. Being farm kids who had to cobble stuff together rather than run into town and spend money we didn't have, I thought it would come in handy if the power went out and we ran out of propane. Anyhow, I determined I needed some screen for the top so I could rest a can of soup - the existing opening is too wide.
So I went into DH's shop and looked around at his "collection". Within a minute I found left over 1/2" screen and his wire snips and cut a chunk that fits nicely. I also found a lot of other little gems in a couple minutes. Metal detector, Dremel. I wonder what else is out there I can play with when I'm bored.
Here's a video about making a rocket stove if anyone gets the urge:

That's the latest. Waiting for it to warm up a little then want to start stripping paint off the front door. It's been letting loose in places over the past couple years and really needs to be repainted. If I don't get to it today, there's always tomorrow. Or the day after that, lol. Retirement!
Make it a fabulous weekend!!

Last night I took some leftover pinto bean broth from the freezer. They were in ice cube shapes in a ziplock, like my chicken brotg. The last time I made pinto bean soup with a ham hock, I had leftovers of 2 jars of soup with beams and meat, and 1 jar of just broth. Using that last night made a quick meal. I just fried up some cubed ham in bacon drippings, and added the frozen broth with a new can of pinto beans (didn't drain the can). It was delightful. 2 bowls for husband, and 1 bowl for me. We had marionberry pie for dessert.💖. We had wandered to Haggens, a whole food type grocery store, and I had looked for my Braggs ACV shots I had seen online. Thought that would be cool to have, convenience wise, but they didn't have them. Husband found the pie. I did find ACV with ginger and honey and tea blend in a drink. Will try that today.
Also, my flower husband had waiting for me when I got home. He had bought it on 30th, but my bus was cancelled so I had to wait until the 4th to get home. (More Athena time), and husband kept it alive the whole time. Sweet guy.💖

My mom has a security system on her house, and if the door opens when the alarm is set, alarms start going off until you give the security company the password. My son set it off accidently one day a few years ago, and it was quite traumatic for him -- with the alarm and the security people yelling, and then the police showing up. He was so embarrassed, and we were all just a block away kayaking on the lake. Lol
Anyway, she pays about $35 a month for the service, but we have been thankful she had it. It comes with a personal panic button, which she wears like a watch on her left wrist. She has pushed it a couple times, including this last time when she fell.

I just read your post and do know how you can feel. This is my first day back after a couple of years, did belong to this group but didn’t post much, they do have a tight group but have been together for years. I read and add if there’s something to say. My question how do I save this site, took me forever to find you guys?? Gayle Minneapolis3

To the new folks and the ones just reading along, please hop in, we are a group who has been together for a long time, but for all the folks that have been here for years, there are plenty of folks who have been here for just months and are equally welcome. It is a fast moving forum with folks from most time zones so it really helps if you put a general location and a name at the end of each post, makes it easier to respond and keep conversations straight as things flow.

On the top right hand of the page is a tag/bookmark. Tap it—it should turn to a solid color. When you come back and click My bookmarks it should bring it up.
I’m sure someone else can give more precise directions!

Gayle hi! So good to see you here again! Margaret is still here as well. The core of regulars are still here. Gloria (grits and sluts) passed away while walking her dog. Ginny gave you good directions for saving the site! Let us know what you have been up to!

Did I tell y’all about my new scale? I can’t remember. It is a Renpho, very reasonably priced, bluetooth. You can use it like a regular scale or you can download the app to your phone, turn it on before you weigh, and it will record your BMI and body fat percentage. It detected that I had a Fitbit so asked to share with it. I gave permission, and then, because my Fitbit is synced with MFP, all of a sudden MFP knows every time I weigh. My plan going forward is to only weigh on Mondays. I’m hoping that this scale will motivate me to build some muscle and lose some fat. It probably isn’t a real accurate measurement, but it should be some indication of progress.
Katla, I am so sorry for your husband’s illness. Prayers for you all.
I have an unavoidable internet presence in real life. Simply googling my name will give anyone who wants it my cell phone number and my address. It is what it is - the nature of my position. So far, I don’t seem to have any stalkers so it’s ok. I try to keep my real name off these forums, but anyone who googled my picture could find me. If someone wants to go that trouble, they have way more problems that I do. Bless their hearts, is all I can say. Some of you know my real name and I know yours. I’m ok with that. I don’t mind a friendly warning every now and then, but I also appreciate you giving me the benefit of a doubt on my choices of what to share or not.
Love you all,
K

The best description of my day is from Pooh, who would say, "Oh bother." Started out that way, and looks like it will end that way, too.
They can't all be shiny.
And, as Scarlett O'Hara famously said, "After all, tomorrow is another day."

Worked then went to the dollar store to get some child sunglasses. I’ll put them on a pineapple for a decoration for the pool party. Then had to go to WalMart to return my timer that didn’t work. Then in the pool. It got very cloudy so I got out sooner than I expected to. Church tonight where I lector
No work tomorrow so I can exercise...yea! The plan is to do part of the Biggest Loser the Workout DVD and then a part of a yoga DVD. Then probably go for a walk around the block
Went for a walk tonight but I wanted to cut it short because Jess and Colby were due to come here.
Leslie – oh how wonderful that Pumpkin came back
M – the fourth choice was to talk it out yet you feel that you don’t think it would help anything. It would probably help YOU, and you are important
Rita – so glad to hear the surgery went well along with the psych appt
Gayle – welcome back
The coils on our a/c just froze up. I guess if worse comes to worse, we can sleep downstairs where we have a heat pump and it’s a bit cooler right now.
Jess and Colby came back. Jess is supposed to leave tomorrow to go to Raleigh and then she said she wants to come back. Then she SAID she’s planning to leave Wednesday morning to go to Raleigh.
Oh, ceramics is closed next week. Who knows why?
Vince took Lexi to the emergency vet. She probably is a little dehydrated, but he kept saying earlier “I’m afraid we’re going to lose her, she’s all skin and bones”. She’s always been on the skinny side and, to me, she looks skinnier since he and Jess had to shave some of the mats out of her fur. Colby is setting up downstairs so he can work.

You can click on the little bookmark symbol to the right of the title of this thread. Then you might get notifications or you can click My Bookmarks in the right sidebar and find this thread there.
OR you can think of the MFP forum as the roots of a plant.
If you go here: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories you will see the image below. This is where the plant goes into the ground, so to speak. This is the forum.
Scroll down and you'll see the roots of the plant going off into different directions -- Sleep, Mindfulness and Overall Wellness, Goal: Maintaining Weight, Goal: Gaining Weight and Body Building, Success Stories, Motivation and Support, and so on. These are subforums.
This thread is in the Motivation and Support subforum.
If you click on the Motivation and Support Subforum, you'll see a list of threads. Because the Women Ages 50+ thread is quite active, it is often near the top of the list of threads, as it is right now.
When you click the thread, you'll see pages of posts. And thus, you're here!!
That above is what we see as users. In the background, it's quite different which is why it is so searchable.
So a third method of getting here is going to Google (or your search engine of choice) and typing "mfp women age 50+ july 2022"
This thread will likely come up near the top of your Google search.

It's not usually an individual person ... it's computer programs and algorithms putting details together. Kind of like triangulation. If a person were to do it, it would take forever, but computers can do it in milliseconds.
And of course, we all can share whatever we want. Happily, no one has said we can't.
Except that when we talk about politics and religion, we need to do that in the Group because of forum rules.

Hello friends - (Leslie from the Ozark’s) Based on all the conversations on privacy I decided to change my username.
Ugh.. Insomnia is rearing it’s ugly head. I better put my cellphone down. I have my last day of silver smithing tomorrow and will need to focus.
