Here are some of my furbaby's...some are no longer with us, but they are forever in my heart.
This is our baby girl Bitsy (8 year old Miniature Weenie)
she is a spoiled little girl these days...
This was our Harley. He passed away last year. He was 11 years old, yellow labrador and best friend.
I still miss him terribly every single day..
when we would go camping, we would stop at Dairy Queen on our way back home.
Both Bitsy and Harley looked forward to their icecream treats too.
haha...night fishing with Harley was always fun.
Bitsy and Harley were the best of friends..
This was our Boo Boo Butt jr. He was our Australian Shepard, Blue Merle. Passed away Dec. 2016
He was 14 years old when he passed away.
Loved to 'play' with the desert rabbits...chased them all over the desert.

Good morning ladies!
Beth - very, very sorry to hear about your dad's funeral. Perhaps there just weren't any fellas around to do that job anymore. Since I didn't have a service for my DH, the funeral home did offer a flag in his honor. Sending many hugs your way- you have a lot going on with your mom right now.
L- Amazing the damage floods can do in the desert like that. Loved the photos of your fur kids and hearing about your way of life.
It's been a busy couple of days. The driveway guy finished up last night. After he brought his little excavator out and re-spread the existing rock, the driveway looked great so I decided to not bring in gravel right now. The existing rock is river rock -a bugger since it rolls around like marbles. We're hoping when the Pacific Northwest rains come this fall and winter it will pack in somewhat.
While he was here, he scurried up the ladder and spread some Flexseal around the vent on the Tuffshed roof where the leak is likely coming from.
Car stuff:Friend Charlie popped the new battery in the pickup and it runs like a charm. We discussed did I want to just sell it to a car dealer, or trade it and DH's Camry in for another car, etc. So I spent some time at the Toyota dealer looking at cars yesterday. Wow, a lot of bells and whistles on them compared to my 2006 Subaru Forester! So that's the latest.
Today I'll go to the Ford dealer and look at quarter ton pickups for the heck of it. I've planned to keep my Subaru, which is the dog and garden car, until the wheels fall off. So unless I see a little truck I cannot live without, I'll sell the pickup and Camry to the dealer for cash and be done with it. And have finally have room in the shop and garage.
I think t's better for me to sell them to a dealer than private parties since I cannot guarantee anything - even if sold "as is", the buyers can come back and hound me. It happened to DH when he sold vehicles in the past, and I don't want the hassle for the sake of getting a bit more $$ for them.
Welcome new ladies - keep popping in so we can get to know you better.
Make it a great weekend.

Beth - I'm sorry your daddy's honor guard didn't happen. Hope you and your family are doing OK. Think of you often.
CJ - I remember you, welcome back! So sorry it's been a rough couple of years.
Morning, afternoon and/or evening, as the case may be...
Got my blissful space going, with the washer whooshing a few rooms away... Probably not my daughter's bliss, but then again, if you choose to sleep in the living room with your three-year-old and six-year-old, you're on my planet, with its accompanying soundtrack.
Supposedly, when her boyfriend, my oldest grandson and her dog get here tonight, they will all camp in the back yard, as he's bringing tents, etc. The man runs four miles a day, trail bikes every weekend, camps at every opportunity... I'm watching the whole thing with great interest, because he lives in a way that is a polar opposite to my daughter's way of life. He's also mature, continually treats her like she matters, is a calming influence to both her and her kids, and even likes her dog. I'm not sure how long she will be able to deal with someone who loves her and treats her well. She's never really had that in a marriage.
My DH looked so tired last night, he just plopped in a chair and stayed there--he drove eight hours of his twelve-hour day, all over NW Arkansas, getting major equipment fixed and running for work... My daughter made dinner (hot dogs), so he was able to just sit. Corey loves quiet nights at home, they give him the fuel he needs to get through the days... but of course, when there's a little hooligan bringing you refrigerator magnets every few minutes and then making you read "Pete the Cat" to him, it's not exactly quiet. Happy, yes, quiet, no.
I tried to get the little whirling dervish to sit still for a second for a picture, but it was like trying to nail Jell-o to the wall.
And of course, the people-hating Egg is stressed, hiding under our bed, and Corey dotes on that cat. She's following me around the house this morning, laying down in front of me at every third step. The moment any of them are awake, she'll head outside.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa

Spent almost 2 hours in the garden this afternoon and finished planting all the spring bulbs. Very late this year! But I wanted to get them in today because tomorrow afternoon a weather system is supposed to move in and drop somewhere up around 100 mm of rain on us and it's supposed to continue to rain the whole of next week.
Feeling vaguely sore because there was a lot of digging involved and kneeling in a bit of an awkward position that stretched my hamstrings and lower back in a way they haven't been stretched since last year's effort!

Good morning ladies!
I only got 10 points on the book lover's quiz which surprised me. I am old fashioned about it- I don't see the point of following authors, and tracking what I read is too much like work. Amazon already knows too much about me. Anyway right now I am reading "One Dharma" by Joseph Goldstein about Buddhism, and a murder mystery by Christine Dodd.
But today I need to prep for my big weekend! My friend Craig is coming and we are going to see "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in DC. I'm a little nervous about Covid, but everyone will be masked.
My sister has Covid now. We just have to wait and see whether it passes or lingers. I'm worried about that too, but there's nothing I can do. She is in Tennessee.
Have a great day, 😊

That's what makes PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) so great Lanette. They're not all "old". We're recruiting constantly from riders of all generations and continuing honoring our veterans in any way we can. AND we don't all "ride". Some of us poor, unfortunate souls are bound to "cages" now that we are "too old". LOL.
We have a Harley too 1derland99, but he looks a bit more like your Bitsy!
RAINING again today. So grateful for whatever we get right now. Having the ducts cleaned at the same time. Interesting combo, but whatever works.
I'm sitting squarely at a 12 too Machka. Don't have time to read 20 hours a week anymore. I don't follow anyone on social media and I don't think I'd rather read than go to a party, but I don't know that I've ever been faced with that choice so...
Had a wonderful lunch yesterday with a dear friend. We meet every 3-4 months, for SEVERAL hours. We tell the hostess to put us out of the way and tell the server to expect us to sit for a long time and they will be well-compensated for our table. And then we TALK..................... about everything. And we eat some, but mostly talk and talk and talk. It's so cathartic. Almost as good as therapy. If only it happened more often.
Freddy's been off fishing for the last two days. So good for him to go off with his buddies. He doesn't do that often enough and this time it was very last minute and then he called and said he was going to stay another day! I was thrilled because I knew he was finally relaxing! I think he's coming home tonight. lol. I know Harley misses him because he's been sleeping really close to me at night.
That's all.

Allie I gave Drew an egg two days ago and she had an allergic reaction. One of the pet summit speaker recommended giving dog a raw egg. They push raw diets. I should have known better to give her a whole one. It is not uncommon to have an egg allergy. He might have trouble with the vaccines that are made with eggs. Make sure who takes him in for vaccines to tell about reaction to eggs.1

Good morning all.
L - I saw that flood in the dessert on the news. We lived in Las Vegas so I know how violent they can be. You really are off the grid. Maybe they can deliver your mail by drone.
‘Taught my water aerobics class this morning instead of golf. Going to be over 100 again today and still no rain😩
DH wants to go to the movie this afternoon so we will go. Good place to be on a hot afternoon.
Suebdew in TX5 -
We are officially in 'drought' here in the South East. Still very hot. I'm fine in the bedroom with my fan.
I had a long phone chat with G this morning who texted me to say she was 'overwhelmed '. She is due to exchange on her apartment any day and they want to complete on the 1st September. Next week she is in Paris, seeing her granddaughter. It will all get done, but her anxiety is mounting. I think she felt better after the call.
It's hard living alone with no help. She is 73.
I managed to get out this morning, to buy a few bits from the deli so I won't have to 'cook' tonight in the heat. Found falafel and hummus. Lots of salad bits, fluffy pitta, and arugula. Pink wine in the fridge. Also got superior quality artesan Stilton and a couple of nice pears. Our favourite combination.
I'm a 12 or 13 on the reading quiz. Don't follow 'writers', though the people I follow do write books in the personal growth area. So I guess I do follow 10.
Just about to go downstairs to chop salad. The family must be landing around now, they were an hour late leaving, which is good in these days of long delays.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -
I did my marching and yoga! Yay!
I'm going out to eat tonight, and my friend just called and said he would be late. I usually stop eating at four, and I bet we won't eat until eight tonight. It's going to be a challenge.
My mother is feeling ill today. Upset digestion.
Well, I got my exercise done, and that's a good start.

App says this is good sleep- Would be nice to have less red and a little more dark blue but this is the first time in a very long time I got 40 min. in the dark blue in one night and usually it is a total for the night, not all at one time.
Woke up to two cats sleeping on me so was too hot.
Laundry going again- sure wish that one cat would STOP peeing on the bed- thankfully we have water proof pads and water proof mattress pad on it so it isn't getting to the mattress topper or mattress- Just tired of daily washing. He had stopped for quite a while- Thinking it might be because his sister is in heat- she is the only one of the 7 that isn't fixed- need to get the kids to get that done SOON. (tired of the meowing , calling the boys from the catio all night long- over for now. Only last less than a week but irritating
DH is going away to Stockton-Con with his friend. He will be there all weekend. He desperately needs to get away from his mom's for a few days. THis means more time over there for me- bringing meals, etc but I will not be staying over there. More of a drop and run!! Especially Sunday morning before church. Good reason to not be able to stay. Just have to feed the dog, her and give her her pills then leave. Will go back about 3 with "dinner" and then leave so I can go home and feed my cats or my son or ??? what ever reason. I will walk the dog tomorrow but most likely not Sunday.
Daycare girl starts back to school on Wed. so I will have my mornings back. Planning on going over at least half hour early to pick her up and walk the wetlands- her school is across the street from the entrance of it. I can set my timer for 15 min so i know when to turn around and get back to the school on time. I kept saying I was going to do that but never have. Now that I know the trails, I will do it. Better than sitting in the car for 1/2 hr(early so I can get a parking spot), playing candy crush on my phone.
They think if I am awake, I need to get right up and feed them- if I don't they start walking on me.
This is the first group fed every time- the two on the left were my son's girlfriend's cats- they are always starving and a bit of a bully to the other cats. The black and white is the one that needs to be fixed.
Cats are fed in different spots (in the catio/window, in the kitchen, and then in four spots outside for the feral cats)
Then it is litter box cleaning time- 6 of those to clean.
Want to work in my garden this weekend- need to put rat traps out- something, assuming rats, are eating my green tomatoes and my cucumbers- saw one eating out of the squirrel feeder last night so set two traps near it(not where the squirrels will get caught)
Have a wonderful weekend ladies

I didn't score high on the book lovers quiz but I read a lot. I often listen to an audio book while walking or working in the yard. I have an e book on my phone so I can read in with the lights off in the middle of the night, and I have a regular book that I read in the bathroom and at bedtime. I get my books from the library or from paperback swap so my selections are made online. I don't do social media but I've bookmarked book lists for favorite authors so I can keep track of any new books. Of course, Amazon and Google keep track of my search and reading to they make suggestions all the time. I've gotten inspired to read some non fiction thanks to podcasts I listen to and some suggestions from you on this thread. I live a somewhat minimal lifestyle so I keep very few books after I've read them.
My dog walking and dancing friend is staying away for a bit since she discovered that her SIL has Covid. She had dinner with her DD and SIL on Saturday so she is being extra cautious on our behalf. I walked and danced alone this morning.

Afternoon ladies
Home from watching the little guy..
Tracy came home and was talking to Kyle on the phone and practically in tears.. they were supposed to go to the beach for family pictures done. Well he gets his hair cut every other weekend at the barber ,and the barber is full and she has had this set up since May.. this was supposed to be her birthday present a family portrait..
And a company came to do a energy audit ,and couldn't because there was asbestos on the pipes,on the furnace.. the energy audit will help them get a 4000.00 rebate
And they have radiator heat.so they need new heating system with new furnace..
So she was almost in tears..4 -
Good morning!
Carla - @minicooper452 Your doggie Harley is adorable. He looks quite comfortable sitting in his little bed.🐶❤️
Lisa - @LisaInArkansas you have a beautiful family ☺️
Sue - @suebdew I had to laugh at your drone remark but then I got to thinking that such an idea could seriously catch on for those of us living out here.

That's a lot of cats you have 🐱 I don't have cats myself but my youngest son has one (Flash Bandicoot 🤣) and he can be very 'demanding' at times. They also have a doggie, Mr. Fluffy (Mixed Pomeranian). My son loves his cat, but my daughter-in-law, not so much. When they come to visit, she always asks me "Do you want a cat??" "Are you sure you don't want a cat"? LMAO! My answer to her is always NO!
Speaking of rats...I need more MOTH BALLS!! Out here in the desert boonies we have a LOT of very large pack rats that will DESTROY the wiring in your vehicles, especially ones that are not driven often. We have an older F250 that we use specifically for towing. We drive it a few miles each week (it's a diesel and gets temperamental if not driven every so often) but when it's sitting during the week I have to shove mothballs down down into the wiring harness and I lay a bag of moth balls directly on top of the engine (under the hood) so the rats will stay away. If not, they will chew through the wiring in our truck. Moth balls seems to be the ONLY remedy we have found that works.
I think me and hubby may be driving into Las Vegas tomorrow to hit up Sam's Club for some supplies as well as run some other errands....fingers crossed.
More storms came through yesterday and we have yet to hear the extent of any additional damage they may of caused.
It's about a 90 minute drive to Henderson...(when I'm lead footing it to catch a bingo game🤣)
...pretty much anywhere we go takes 90 minutes or so😂 🤣
Up until last week I was taking full advantage of ordering a lot of our supplies via online retailers like Sam's Club & Amazon and simply having everything delivered straight to my door. I mean free shipping , 2-3 day delivery versus $5-6 a gallon gas or diesel? It's a no brainer.
Since they built the new Amazon warehouse up there in Las Vegas/Henderson area, our stuff often times gets delivered the very next day. It's quite amazing how they get your order ready, packaged, and delivered (to the boonies) within 24 hrs.
I actually spend LESS money shopping online for certain groceries (those that can be delivered) because I'm not 'casually browsing' up and down each isle like I would do in an actual store. I end up spending a small fortune when we go to Sam's Club in person...
I'm certainly going to miss the online delivery option these next few months while our roads are getting repaired.
Well, I best get off here and start writing out my supply list. It NEVER fails, there is always something I end up forgetting to buy...even with a list. 🤣
hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

It was not planned to have that many cats. All but the last two(who came from son's girlfriend- she had to move and couldn't take them with her.If we didn't take them, they were going to be let loose in the marsh area to fend for themselves.) all found us- all formerly feral.
Husband is a softy when it comes to animals, especially cats- they get more attention than I do!!
We were up to six inside, then Rovin brought her two, then my favorite one, Umaku passed away suddenly from heart failure and blood clot that left him paralized-happened very quick
We have had dogs in the past. The last one died a year and a half ago. A month later, my husband's favorite of the cats, our deaf girl Shima. (two months before that, my dad passed away- NOT a good year, for sure)- We will get another dog but just not right now.
I walk my mother in laws dog almost every day since she fell and broke bones in her wrist/hand plus 3 ribs- I don't know if she will ever be able to walk him again. He will NOT be our next dog when she can no longer take care of him. My husband is staying with her the past two plus months and does all the feeding of both of them. The dog is too crazy. Doesn't do well with cats and digs up everything- We will find another home for him but I have told my husband it will not be here.

Allie we have radiator heat so yes I feel for Tracy at the cost of replacement. What she is talking about is the new furnace plus the new electronics board to regulate the furnance. It is more expensive than just getting a new furnace. When we got our new furnance last fall we only had to get the furnace piece because the other part had already been updated. Still expensive enough.1

Coughing all night and feeling awful today. Tested but negative CoVid. Blah! Hate summer colds!!
Matchka my book number is close to 12 too. I have audiobooks, Many Kjndle books and “real” books in my camper. Gotta be close to 300! I know I had that many before moving to a camper! Lol. I counted up all the authors I follow and didn’t realize it is close to 10! Surprised myself! I absolutely love bookstores and even just book aisles. I just this week read a chapter and bought a book at Target waiting for DH to get out of dentists! Lol
Lanette have you tried Carvana? They pay pretty good for vehicles of every condition and come pick them up for you.
Allie try some eggs bought from a local farm. Sometimes people are allergic to all the hormones commercial growers give their chickens.

I just noticed you live in Napa, CA....
Many MANY years ago we were stationed in Vallejo, CA (Mare Island Shipyard) back when the shipyard was still open. My husband was attached to the Tug Ops (USN) for 3 years..
We moved there from Guam (our oldest son was born in Guam).
We actually bought our first 'new' car (in CONUS) at a dealership in Napa, CA because when we shipped our 'Guam Bomb' (rusted out 1980 Chevy Cavalier that had a broomstick handle shoved in the radiator hose so that it wouldn't leak, haha...long story) somebody STOLE the catalytic convertor off it and as such it wouldn't pass CA Smog. When we inquired how much it would cost to get a new catalytic convertor installed the mechanic took one look at our trusted Guam Bomb and told us that it probably would be better and cheaper (in the long run) to buy a new car 😂 🤣

Did you live in the military housing there- Federal Terrace area?
If so, I walk my mother in laws dog around there almost every day.
My FIL worked on Mare Island after getting out of the Air Force.
My first hubby and I lived at Hamilton AFB (CG stationed at Alameda on a cutter)and our neighbor was stationed on Mare Island-on one of the nuclear subs.- The Parchee. Another was on the Enterprise1 -

Well CRAP! 😖 We won't be driving to town or anywhere for that matter...at least not this weekend.
Hubby just got home and said that the only road left that was still passable now has an active river running through it in 3 different sections. I can only imagine what kind of mess that is going to leave...
Hubby had to get on the tracks and hi-rail back to the house to avoid getting his work truck stuck.
He's only been home 30 or so minutes and already has been called back out to do a flood watch run.
....basically he will hi-rail up and down the tracks tonight and keep an eye open for any flash flooding that may occur along or over the tracks.
Gotta keep those trains a movin'! 🚂🚂

@dlfk202000
I don't recall if the housing tracks had a name to them...but I did a google search and honestly, while Daniel's Ave rings a distinct bell to me as far as streets / addresses go, looking at images of the units I do NOT remember the buildings having fenced in backyards. (I'm 100% certain of that) and we also didn't have carports etc.
gosh it's been 25 odd years ago so I'm sure the housing complexes have been renovated since we lived there...
My memory is shot these days as to the actual street we lived on.
We lived many city & states over those 20 years of active duty...
After all of these years I would hope that the theft rate has come down in that general area since we lived there, LOL! Now that I DO remember...
No joke, our first week in Vallejo, CA our household goods had not yet arrived from Guam so the neighbor let us use their washing machine to wash our clothes then I hung everything to dry overnight on the clothesline that was a few feet behind our back door. Each row of houses had their own clothesline running right down the middle between the rows.
The next morning my husband went outside to grab the clothes off the line and they were ALL gone...who ever it was was kind enough to leave us the clothes pegs😂 🤣
They had taken numerous pairs of my hubby's 501 Levi jeans, along with several other items of clothing AND even my husbands underwear...middle of the night, right off the line. Needless to say we purchased a washer and dryer that same day, on home layaway, from the Navy Exchange, lol...
We had to park our cars on the street, and I recall many of our neighbors had their cars broken into during our stay there...thankfully we did not have this happen to us.
There was a lot of theft going on around that area back then..not sure if it's still that way but we were happy to finally get into the base housing on Mare Island itself.
