DH & I are currently living in an apartment in an assisted living place in Illinois. It is a very good situation for the two of us. DH is recovering from a serious heart attack, and we are grateful that he is doing okay. 🙏🏻 ❤️
Are you doing any knitting. Knitting would be a perfect thing to do while your husband recovers3 -
Rebecca, I was 62 years old when I found MFP. I had tried and failed at so many weight loss plans and wondered if I would ever succeed. What helped me was to do a very serious personal inventory of my relationship with food and exercise to help me make life changes that help me be lighter, healthier, and fitter and contribute to longevity. Among my first decisions was to stop using food as a source of entertainment and recreation. That meant that I wasn't going to spend a lot of time thinking and planning about what fun things to eat. For both health and frugality, I cut back on restaurant eating. I began meeting my friends for a walk rather than lunch or a beverage. I decided to resign my position as excellent chocolate chip cookie baker and find other ways to excel in life. I got a pedometer and used that as encouragement to be more active. I read books about healthy eating and exercise and habit formation. I listened to podcasts about health. I made my health more important than anything else in my life. Now I am 76 years old and have lost 50 pounds and kept the weight off for years. I check in to MFP and this thread every morning without fail to log food and exercise and stay connected to others who have the same goals of weight loss, health, fitness, and longevity. I have learned so much from others. I wish you the best on your new resolve.

and, we have a new addition.
This tiny little kitten has been alone, hanging out in the yard for the past few weeks. I set the trap and in less than half an hour, it was inside the house, in the pen, and getting comfy.
Cats all seem to find us- this is how we have gotten all of our cats. Not sure if we will keep it or find a home. I am guessing, keep it. Husband will want to keep it. It looks so much like his favorite that passed away a year and a half ago. It is already doing something the other did that none of the other cats do, which is watch tv. I have NGTV on- Wicked Tuna and it is watching
Right after I brought it in, I found huge coon paw prints on the back deck- glad the little one is in and safe from the critters.

Allie - I don’t know how you manage to go stay in that house.
Heather - your family is beautiful.
Rebecca - I know how you are feeling. I am struggling to stay in control of myself too. I really need to log and quit munching all evening.
Evelyn - Happy retirement! There is a doctor shortage across Canada right now. In the last month 2 people have died in emergency rooms in NB.
I know there was more, I’ve been reading along but not taking the time to post.
The weekend went so fast. Our eldest the Grands and I went to yard sales yesterday. I gave each Grand $20. I love watching what they buy and seeing people give them deals.
Michaela got a rug, curtains, and Disney Princess decals for her room for $10. At another house she picked up some jewelry and nail polish, she also bought a chess set so Daddy will teach her, and a scooter so they don’t fight over the one at their house currently.
Jonah bought a pull-up bar, a couple of Nerf guns, a pogo stick, which his mother injured herself on when showing them how it was done, and was given a nice leather briefcase. I swear that boy was born in the wrong century. He also wears bow ties and loves dress shoes.
I bought more pieces for my Christmas village and a snowman cookie jar for 3.00, a couple of albums and an Avon perfume bottle I had a young girl. I think I spent a total of $10 on myself.

Morning ladies
Kelly- Tom and Elena went to Lake George overnight for Toms 70th Birthday.
I stayed at the house because of Homer our dog ,he is 16 1/2 and blind and on meds and knows that house and is more comfortable there.. ive had him here ..but he goes to the door and scratches to go home..
Even still he would go to the family room and look towards the door waiting for Tom to come home..those 2 have a tight tight bond.
I got the correct meds in at the correct times.one has to be with food.. he has a meal at midnight but had it at 11.luckily i had made it ahead of time.. and Alfie and he were in and outside I dont know how many times..don't think they settled down until after 1 am.. and I was awake at 5:30..
Tom and Elena had a lovely time... went on a luncheon cruise and had a nice dinner out.. relaxed and had a few cocktails and walked Canada st where all the shops are.
They were home by 1:30 on Sunday.. Homer barking away..they bought me a nice dream catcher.. Alfie and I got Tom a card and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. The card was hysterical had a dog on the front and it said inside
Your how old? Thats dead in dog years lol
He turns 70 today.
Im going with Tracy today to help with Miles while she grocery shops..had the windows open last night it was lovely..great sleeping weather .. out like a light.4 -
I'm attempting to upload my book. Got the cover done, but I'm having all the trouble I anticipated uploading the text. It's the front few pages that get me every time. Nearly drove myself crazy before lunch, but I will have another go this afternoon, now I have stopped panicking.
It will happen eventually, if I don't go crazy first.
Not cut out for this.
Heat is less intense. Cloudy and a bit muggy.
My friend G is in Paris, seeing her granddaughter. I like getting messages and photos from her. I have visited Paris around 17 times.

Wow - this post has so many replies! I am just entering the fray as they say! I've let work invade my personal time way to much this past two months and gained 3 lbs instead of losing them as a result. It's time to take back some of my day for me.
My name is Anne and I live in Fenwick Island, DE about 3 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. We moved here full-time about a year ago and it is our happy place.
A little about myself: I'm 56 years old and have been dieting since I was 12. I am an identical twin and we have both struggled with our weight for all these years. It takes up so much energy to be on this roller coaster but I think over the past year, I have finally found the secret to getting off the roller coaster and living my true life. MFP is a bit part of that. I weighed in at 180 lbs on July 1, 2021. I am only 5 2 1/2 and for me that is a lot of weight. I was not happy with my weight but I was working out regularly, ate healthy foods, blah, blah blah but I wasn't really counting and watching how much I was eating and if I was really eating that healthy why wasn't the weight coming off. I blamed it on menopause and stress. Yes, those were definitely real contributors to the weight gain, they really weren't to blame. I decided to be honest with myself and really track everything I put in my mouth, weigh myself every day for a awhile and used MFP to track progress (good and bad) and learned from what the scale was telling me! I know some will say "throw the scale out" but my advice is to use it to your advantage, don't look at as evil, use it just like you use the kitchen scale (yes you must use a kitchen scale!). It is just information, use it to understand what works in your meal plan. If one day it jumps up a lb or two or three, look back on the previous day and find out what caused it. Dinner out, an extra drink or two, maybe you didn't have time drink enough water, etc.. By becoming friendly with the scale and using it for information not a barometer of who I am, I started to lose weight. Slow and steady wins the race.
In April 2022, I was done 30 lbs and extremely happy with my weight loss, its been a project a kin to what I think chiseling marble would be like. A little here a little there, hit a few plateaus... we traveled a lot from early May to mid June and as a result I jumped up about 5 lbs, I've lost and regained about 3 of those lbs over the past two months but I ate healthy and moderately while on vacation (Vegas and Italy in those 6 weeks) and I was glad I hadn't gained 10 lbs!
I want to lose another 20 lbs but I'm not putting a day on it because that creates more anxiety I just don't need in my life! The biggest factor that has caused the weight gain (though I know it is only a little bit) is I haven't been posting or weighing myself like I was. I want to get back on track before that 5 becomes 10 and so on.
So this is me putting it in writing, I'm back to full time posting on MFP and going back to what I know will work! Good luck to all those on a similar journey and remember you've got this!10 -

Hi y’all. YAY! The heat is finally gone. It was morning when I started this post. Now it’s after lunch. Luckily I had hit the save draft button.
Evelyn: Enjoy your retirement. Ease into it gently.
Heather: Hit the button! You know you want to. 😂 Ah! I see you did.
Rebecca: What Barbie said except I was 67 when I started adulting 😝
Tracking food was an eye opener. It showed me that my portion control was wayyyyy off the mark. I weigh, measure, and track my food every day. Eyeballing portions is a definite NO! NO!
I took me over 7 years to change my habits, one by one. I still enjoy my food, I just eat it in more moderate amounts than I did before.
It’s been raining off and on since breakfast. Probably won’t stop for a while. Thunderstorms passed us by.
Psyching myself up to go and declutter something.
🥳🎉 Cheers to all those celebrating. May you have all you wish for.
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them. This too shall pass.
🙋♀️ Miele failte to the newbies. Don’t be shy!

It's DONE!
I finally did what I should have done all along. I copied and pasted it into their 5x8 Fixit, that I had on file from ME I AM. Easy then. Yes, I know, Lisa.
The Kindle version went smoothly.
So I am just waiting for it to go live on Amazon. WHERE AM I? by Heather Eyles. They have to check it's in decent order before it's live and it takes a few days for them to get the Author Page etc updated and to link the paperback and Kindle versions.. I'm soooo impatient!
Anyways, I'm knackered as Heather says, (oh, I'm Heather! ) and I'm glad my heart has stopped pounding!
Love to all.

Yay Heather! What an achievement!
Welcome to Anne in Fenwick Island. I'm way up north of you. Yes measuring and logging and weighing make knowledge which helps set appropriate limits. You can do this!

Hi Barbiecat and others, I'm StefieS from Wash DC and I am logging in to MFP for the first time today after a 5 year plus hiatus. Wowza. My ticker showed me that I had met my goal back then...but, when I hit 50, arthritis in my hip limited me exercise and my eating habits also gradually declined.
Now I am back up and need/want to lose 30 pounds! So, I know I'm joining in mid-month here, but like I said, just started back today. One bad habit I've developed is late-night eating when I am stressed and/or can't sleep. Anyone else struggle with this?8 -
Hi Heather DE! Welcome. We posted at almost the same time so I missed you yesterday. So sorry about your mom. Wish you the best in your journey.
Evey, just love your pole dancer!
Hi Anne! (love that name... that's our youngest DD's name) Welcome. You do live in a beautiful part of our country. Have to say that.
WOOHOO! Heather UK! I'm so excited. That's amazing. So you'll let us know when it's live right? And give us all the link so we can go grab it??? I've actually had this on my calendar notifications to ask you about this entire month!!!
