Welcome back @noblsheep!! I've been wondering how you are doing! I bet all the cycling has put your legs in a great place for running again!

I had planned to get out this morning for a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot but the wind is back with a vengeance. The forecast was for winds (and heat) but not as much wind as last week. Nope, it is hot (over 80F), the winds are fierce and the humidity is back below 10%. I think I may go out when we get home this evening at least for a neighborhood walk. Winds and temps will be down and the humidity up a little.

This was better today. Slower, obviously. I tried to keep my HR below a certain number, which I do sometimes to see whether there's a change. Nope, didn't work at all today. But running was very nice. And I'm nearly back on track. Oh, also perfect running weather: mild, and no wind at all.

So happy to see you again @noblsheep!!

Glad your calf is settling down @Scott6255.
@martaindale I sure don't blame you for running on the treadmill with those conditions outside. And, great job on listening to your body. What race are you running? I hope your Achilles tendons don't get any worse and the exercises kick in sooner rather than later.

I’m doing the Dopey challenge in January. 5k, 10k, HM, then marathon on consecutive days.

I am officially not running. I ended up hobbling around by the night after my 8 mile run and woke up the next morning with a huge bruise over my right medial ankle and both ankles swollen. I was still having some pain just with walking on the right side. It’s been 2 days with no running. The swelling is better today but still a little swollen and the bruise is turning several lovely colors. The left doesn’t hurt but the right is still a little tender if I go fully up on my toes.
My triathlon friend recommended this functional sports clinic that she has used for the last few years. I have an appointment Tuesday. Until then, I’m not running. I’ll take some walks maybe starting tomorrow and focus on some workouts for core/strength training that I can do without making my injury flare back up. We’ll see what they say at my appointment but at this point I just don’t want to make it any worse.

@martaindale ouch. Sorry to hear this 😞

That's more like it :) Had a nice run.
Question to all: if you run every second day, or two days in a row do you see a difference in HR? I found that if I run two days or more in a row then the first run has a much higher HR than the second, than the third. If I do strength training (well, basically physio) during the day and run in the evening then my HR is even lower during the run. Just curious if other people notice the same.

@yirara That’s interesting but I can’t say I have noticed that. My HR has dropped over time at the same paces and if I do a workout day 1 and a recovery run day 2, then my HR will be lower because the effort is lower. But I have never noticed a drop at the same effort levels, same distance from 1 day to the next.

Oh that's interesting. I thought my observation was odd but wanted to confirm with a few people. Yeah, my HR is lower on the second day at the same effort, and also at a higher one. Doesn't mean I'm able to run better or faster. Everything seems to be shifted downwards then - and basically messes with my Garmin watch because the same effort might be classified a tempo run on the first day, and a base run on the second. :D

@tarun_yadavA It was a pretty exciting game for no score. We have never watched a lot of soccer, but we do like to watch the World Cup.

@martaindale Oh no! So sorry to hear about your injury. I'm glad you could get in to see the sports doctor on Tuesday. I hope they have good news for you and you are able to continue with your training for the Dopey Challenge.

@eleanorhawkins Glad you had an awesome run and that you were able to borrow some trail poles so you know if you like them or not. Funny that your subconscious wants to run the hills.

Great run @tarun_yadavA . Fantastic consistency. Looks like you are ready for the party! I hope you all enjoy!

@kgirlhart Nice job on the Thanksgiving day 10K.

Happy Happy Late Birthday @AlphaHowls ! Looks like a nice run.

Nice running @yirara . Can't help you on your question about HR though. I've not noticed that either.

@SummerSkier Congrats on meeting your months goal already! Love the picture of your brother eating the leftovers on the pan. Love me some cheesecake! Lovely tree too. I thought I heard on the news this morning that TX is getting snow. Does that include you?
