I wasn't really planning to run today, but I ended up running 6.2 miles. It was still cold at 26°fF but no wind, so feels like 26°. But it was so much warmer than the last couple of days and the sun was shining. I wore long pant, a tank top with sleeves, a long sleeved shirt over that, gloves and an ear warmer. I was good most of the run, but ended up being overdressed. I pulled of the t-shirt about 2 miles from home. My shoulders were a little chilly, but I was better without the shirt.
The kids made it in. They went over to my mother-in-law's house for a bit. I am finishing up some cooking and we will all head over to my Mom's soon and then to my mother-in-law's tomorrow. I hope all who celebrate have a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅❤️

Ended up on the treadmill yesterday. Today, I waited for the wind to calm down and the sun to come out. It was basically perfect weather for a run!
We have a Christmas Eve tradition of homemade hot chocolate and a Christmas show. This year we are watching one of the prep and landing episodes. Off to make dinner.4 -
Great chilly run for you too @kgirlhart . Enjoy your time with family. Merry Christmas to you too.
Great run @martaindale ! Sounds like a nice tradition.
I had tummy issues this morning and just didn't feel the best most of the day. I'm feeling much better now, thankfully. I did manage to go down and walk a mile on the treadmill. I also wrapped up and walked to the mailbox once the temps got up to 15F (-9.4C)....we were down to 1F (-17.2C) this morning.
For the RTW bunch, we're almost on land again.6 -
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
I hope everyone in the middle and east of the US and most all of Canada too, are safe and staying warm. you. I can't believe so many. of you all are out there running in the temps you. are seeing. I can't even imagine!
@quilteryoyo - We have less than 400 miles to go and we will be at @eleanorhawkins! Hopefully she is ready for us! We should be there in time to celebrate New Year's 🥳
Hope you feel m much better tomorrow.
I got out for a much better run today than yesterday. My hip is still a bit sore so I kept it gentle and slow. By the time we were heading home it was getting warm (75F) and I was a sweaty mess by the time I got home. I may try to get out for at least a walk tomorrow depending on how the day goes. Monday and Tuesday we have places to be in the mornings so maybe an afternoon run 🤷🏻♀️6 -
Merry Christmas everyone!!! 😊7
-
Merry Christmas everyone!!! 😊
Got in another 12K
Spent last night at my mother's neighbours'. Xmas tradition since God knows when!
Drank all but one of these beers 🤦
And then was the MVP of cheeseboard below
Got back to my Mother's where... You guessed it! There were more Mince pies. I ate three... And a Snickers ice-cream bar 🤦
So. Yes. As you can imagine. Today's run was indeed a struggle.
Have a great day everyone!!!!! 😊7 -
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

Happy Christmas everyone, hope you all stay safe and warm and healthy.

@shanaber I'm glad your hip is feeling some better. We're supposed to warm up to 29F, -1.7C, today. Heat wave!
So funny @tarun_yadavA ! You had a great run, considering all the fun you had last night!
Merry Christmas everyone!5 -
quilteryoyo wrote: »Glad to "see" you are doing okay @juliet3455 . Those temperatures are crazy low! It's great that they have the schools open for people to use. Is your hip getting better?
Merry Christmas to all.
@quilteryoyo Yes my hip is much better, can now swim without any discomfort and have a bunch of Hikes up to 6km through the bush trails - through the snow. So a decent work out - just not quite the same as running.
Got this great picture through an office window last week just as the sun was setting.
Unfortunately it has some funny blob ( light reflection from behind me ) on the edge of one of the Jet contrails.7 -
@tarun_yadavA - love the pictures and had to laugh at you consuming all of that! I hope you had help!
@juliet3455 - love the picture but it does look so cold! Glad your hip is feeling much better!
I am still hoping to get at least a little walk or something in today but it is already 77F (25C). Husband wanted to light the fireplace and I said no... we may need the air conditioner on later 😁
Christmas pictures under the split.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day spent with family and friends!!7 -
@juliet3455 Hikes through the snow are a lot of work. Glad you are able to do that. That picture is amazing.
@shanaber I hope you got your walk in and stayed cool. Are those temperatures normal this time of year for you? Love Hobbes by the Christmas tree and the paw print card. I'd love to do something like that with Tippy, but she hates her paws being messed with.
Since it was so cold this morning, mom and I decided to stay home and not attend church services. I did, however, plan to run while I watched the service on FB live. I went down in time to get my half mile warm up walk completed before the service began. Then, I started the run. I ran/walked for 4/1 min at 4.2-4.5/3.8 mph, then 3/2 min at 4.6-4.8, 4.2 - 4.7 mph, then 3 min at 4.8 and 2:27 min at 4.2 mph. My legs were fine, but I had a hard time breathing....reason for the change to 3/2 minutes. I ran 5.0 miles in 1:10:27 minutes for an average snail pace of 14:05 min/mile (4.26 mph). My avg HR was 133 and max was 151 bpm. I decided to walk 0.7 miles for cool down to make a total distance traversed of 6.2 miles (10K).
It did warm up, so went down to have lunch with mom at 1 and open our gifts to each other. It's been a nice, quiet Christmas so far.
I'm up to 57.52 miles for the month. Now I'm thinking 70 is not out of the question.7 -
Merry Christmas everyone! I got a spontaneous half marathon in today. I don’t know why, actually. I guess I had the time and I am feeling completely better now - and maybe I also had some energy left over from yesterday’s Christmas Eve goose.
In any case it was quite rainy for the first half of the half, but a lot warmer than it was a few weeks ago. So I didn’t need my jacket, just a long shirt, light gloves, long pants and a headband. Hunger and thirst kicked in with about 8km left to go and I was really regretting my decision to spontaneously run so far out that I had no choice but to run all the way back. I had brought one energy gel with me, but used it before the half way mark. So I definitely would want to bring some more food and a bit of water with me next time to make it a bit more “fun”.
So I was thinking about food and water a lot during my last kms and when I got home, to my surprise the kitchen door was locked and the key was missing. Our toddler had taken it out and didn’t know where it was. So we spent a good 20 minutes looking for it and I was beginning to worry that it could take days for it to turn up and what kind of Christmas dinner could we have if we couldn’t get into the kitchen, and also, what about my snacks, water, and coffee I had been dreaming about?
Well luckily we did finally locate the key in the bathroom and I got my snacks, coffee, and Christmas dinner. So all in all a great day! I hope you guys are enjoying your day as well!
I haven’t written my mileage for quite some time.
12.02. 3.4 km treadmill
12.03. 11.1 km
12.05. 16 km
12.06. 11 km
12.08. 6.2 km treadmill
12.11. 12.5 km
12.20. 8.3 km
12.24. 14.5 km
12.25. 21.3. km
December 104.3 km from a goal of 150.7 -
@Laurz9191 Spontaneous half marathon. I can't even imagine doing that. At first, I thought you were locked out of your house altogether. Glad that you were able to find the kitchen key and get some food and water in you and Christmas dinner cooked.1
-
Added another 5 miles today
So for the month that makes to total of 16.5 I’m a little behind on my goal8 -
@klosrobert Such a beautiful, cold, place to run. I've forget what your goal was, but you still have time. If you don't make it, that's okay too. It's setting one and doing what you can that counts.3
-
Good morning everyone!
Hope you all had a nice Christmas!
Got in a 7!5 -
Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Day. I have pulled a muscle or done something that my back is not happy about so between that and the cold weather, I have not ran since Wednesday. I did walk for an hour on the treadmill yesterday at a very slow pace and it seemed to loosen up my back a bit. I’m off work all week and had visions of getting some runs in where I didn’t have to rush off to work or someplace afterwards. Now the week is looming long ahead. At least the worst of this cold blast has passed. Saturday morning it was -1F not counting the wind chill factor. Love seeing everyone’s pictures and reading about your running and Christmas celebrations!
Looking forward to our grand finish of RTW in Spain with @eleanorhawkins!8 -
@Teresa502 - oh no! Hope you feel better soon1
-
@tarun_yadavA You and me both on the eating like crap. Hope we can both get back on track soon. It's amazing that you can keep up that pace when you aren't feeling it.
@Teresa502 So sorry to hear about your back. I hope it continues to get better and you're back to running soon.2 -

@quilteryoyo thank you!
These last two weeks of December have been such a 'write-off'. Just making sure I get a long run in everyday amidst all the carnage
4 -
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'm sorry your back is bothering you @Teresa502 .
I am off today so I am planning to run in a little while after it warms up some. It is 39°F right now with no wind chill, but in a couple of hours it should be 10-15 degrees warmer.4 -
I wasn't feeling like running today, maybe post Christmas blues, so I went down and did a 2.48 mile walk on the treadmill at 3.8 mph. Odd mileage was to get my total for the month up to 60 even. Ten to go.

I waited until it warmed up some (and after my daughter headed out). I was almost overdressed for my run, but then I turned north and felt dressed just right. It was a lovely day and I ran 7 miles. I am almost to my goal for December.
8 -
@AlphaHowls that taco soup looks very similar to what we make. It's good. Like your purple stuffed animal too.
Good consistency over the holidays @tarun_yadavA!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas 🎄🎁
We had a small family gathering and now the kids have left to go back home. It worked out well because by that time it was a sunny 54°F. So shorts and t-shirt. Was just going to go for an easy 6 miles to get to 1600 for the year, but I just couldn't keep it at a slow pace. These blue Endorphin Speed 2's just make me run faster. Haven't had a run in them that wasn't sub 9. I'm sure that will change, but for now I'm calling them my race shoes 😊
So got my year goal, now want to finish December with at least 100 miles so I will have all 12 months over 100 miles.9 -
@AlphaHowls That soup sounds good. Love the purple people eater. Understand eating all of the cookies too. I hope your mood improves with the lengthening days. Don't know how you do that many crazy laps. BTW, how many laps do you have to make?
Sounds like you had a lovely run @kgirlhart .
Lots of miles there @Scott6255 . Those shoes sound awesome. Do you know what makes them so much faster?

My night last night...

And now off to Chinatown to go for lunch with wife's high school bestie and her family.
Alls I need now... Noodles and the like 😭

Crap. I didn't spoiler. Sorry. Blame the cheese7
-
@AlphaHowls I can't imagine doing that. Do you change directions during the run? I would think if you didn't it would really mess with your knees and hips...always turning in the same direction. You are amazing to do that.
@tarun_yadavA At least it looks like you had a nice place to run and you had fruit last night. Is that last picture cake or ice-cream? Whichever it is, it looks, and sounds, really good.1
