@quilteryoyo Your race photos look great. Mine always look like I'm melting or mad, even when I'm having a good race. I'm really going to try for some good on-course photos during Dopey. Anything that doesn't make me look miserable.4

Logging last night's and this morning's runs. The soreness following the acupuncture disappeared around 8pm. Weird. But on the run the next night, I got some discomfort in the tendon itself so ended up walking some. I have been continuous running my short runs 6 mile or less. I was worried it would still be sore this morning, but I was able to run the entire distance without so much as a twinge. So, maybe the acupuncture helped. IDK what was going on last night though.
The weather this morning was upper 30's and so nice! These temps (upper 30's-40's) are my fave!! It's going to be a colder week for us here and we are actually going to have a cold Christmas!! I'm so happy about that.5 -

Water walk break.
Being silly for the camera. The photographer loved it.
Home stretch. You can really see how hot I was.
The only one where I am "flying." Both feet are barely off the ground.
Finish line. Another lesson learned - if pictures are being taken, look up at the finish line, not down at my watch. Plus, I think I look like I'm about to trip over my own two feet. LOL
I was always afraid I'd trip over the timing mechanism.3 -

It was definitely cold this morning. But I still had a nice 5.5 mile run. Yesterday I hit 2000 miles for Run the Year. I am including all of my steps in that, not just running. It's still challenging for me though. And I am excited that I should hit 2022 in a few days.
Thanks @mari33a! I'm glad you didn't fall.
Great race report @quilteryoyo. You did great and I love the medal. And those are some really good race photos!
Outstanding!!!!!!!2 -
That's awesome @kgirlhart that you will RTY!
I did a sleasy 3 miles on the treadmill this evening. Nothing hurt and it felt good π

Glad you weren't injured @tarun_yadavA . Sometimes "catching" yourself from falling makes you twist in weird ways. Also glad to here is should clear up soon.
@martaindale I hope you get a lot of great photos. The only photographer I actually saw was the one where I was acting silly and the one that took my photo with the lighthouse in the background. Didn't even think about one at the finish line or I would have been looking up and cheering the fact that I was done. LOL So glad to read that your calf wasn't sore and you were able to run 6.1 miles this morning without even a twinge! We're going to have a really cold Christmas too. Not sure I am as happy about it as you are, even though if we get some snow, that would be nice.
@Tramboman Wouldn't that be the pits!
Great recovery run @Scott6255 ! Glad nothing hurt.

Congratulations @Fit2btied2016 ! You are doing great and glad you have such a "nice" massage lady. Good luck getting your puppy today. You'll have to post pictures for us.
@Mari33a Nice run. Love the pictures. In the second one it looks like your pup is questioning your sanity. LOL2 -

Last long run before Dopey! Since I was run-walking I decided to run for 3 hrs rather than shooting for the 16 miles on the schedule. I guessed I would end up with 14-15 miles. But, it was cold and I ran through my first walk break to warm up and I was keeping up a good pace. When I got to 8 miles I was under 1.5 hours so I turned around and figured I'd see what happened on the back end. I ended up skipping a walk break that would have been at the very end and got to 16 miles in 2:55!! That's a 10:58 mm! That's only a couple minutes slower than my first 16 miler, which I ran continuously!
This was exactly what I needed this weekend. I built back up to the mileage I was supposed to be at on my plan, my Achilles didn't hurt, and my pace is downright respectable. It gives me a lot of comfort that I will not only be able to finish, but also that it won't take me all day. Now, fingers crossed for decent weather. It likely won't be cold, but I'd love to not be running a marathon in full sun in the 80's.10 -
Awesome 16 miler @martaindale! Glad your last long run went so well. Now you can breathe easy knowing you will do well at Dopey and you can have some fun π
I did a 5 mile run outside this afternoon. Temp was a gorgeous 46F. It felt quite a bit harder than I was expecting. Afterwards I realized I didn't take my asthma medicine. That probably made the difference.

Quite possibly a week of crazy laps in my future as Siberia descends on us. Just seeing the temperature makes my skin and bones hurt.11 -
@martaindale You had an awesome run today! That is an excellent pace for 16 miles. You are going to kill the Dopey! I'm so excited for you.
Nice run @Scott6255 . I'm sure not having your medication was what made it harder than it should have been.
You're doing great @AlphaHowls ! We're getting the artic blast next week too, so I'm very thankful for my treadmill. Hey, did you see the first mile sign I posted in my race report? It made me think of you.
I just walked one mile on the treadmill again today. I was so far behind on Christmas that I took today to mostly get caught up. I fixed 40 cards, wrapped presents until I ran out of tape, and put up my little LED Christmas tree. All the decorations I can handle this year.

Today I ran the Pioneer 5-Miler held at Davy Crockett Birthplace. This is part of the Tennessee Parks Running Tour and our track club is the organizer. It was a cold one. Although the race didn't start until 11:00 am, I volunteered to help with registration/packet pick up so I got there about 9:00 am. The temp was around 34F and there was a cold wind blowing. I dressed in layers so even though I couldn't wear my gloves during the registration (which was outside under a picnic shelter) I didn't get too cold. At start time it had warmed up to 39F. The course is really beautiful as it goes out into the countryside but it does have some hills in it. I didn't notice the wind so much going out but the last couple of miles back to the finish line I encountered some strong headwinds. Last time I ran this race was in 2020 and my finish time was 53:36 earning me a third place finish. This year, my time was 53:44 and I won third place again!

@martaindale - definitely a respectable pace today on your 16-miler! Glad you felt no pain and hopefully it will stay that way.
@quilteryoyo - great detailed race report and I loved all your pictures!
@mari33a - Great photo of you and pup!
@alphahowls - I'm really dreading our single digit forecast for next week. I may be joining you for crazy laps.5 -
Congratulations @Teresa502 ! I didn't realize the Pioneer 5-Miler was today. I guess I need to keep up to date better. But, I probably wouldn't have run it anyway. It was a cold one today with the wind. You did fantastic!!!!2

Yes, I did! I loved it! In my head, I thought...'if she thinks I am going to the moon..she better guess again!'
Also, I do have SAD, depression, PTSD. It's a fight some days...

We are going to visit our son tomorrow so I ran my long run today. It was really cold for me at 30Β°F feels like 26Β°. I debated about what to wear and ended up wearing capri length leggings, a t-shirt with 2 pairs of sleeves and gloves. I was a little chilly starting out, but overall as long as I kept going I was good. I eventually took the sleeves off and I had the gloves off but ended up putting them back on. It was a pretty day with lots of sunshine and no wind. I ran 10 miles and that got me to 2022 for Run the Year. I did count all of my miles, not just running. But most of my miles are running miles.
I am glad I hit my goal before the arctic blast we are supposed to get next week. I am really not looking forward to that.
Congratulations on your AG win @Teresa502!
Your dog is so cute @Mari33a
