Margaret—I long ago discovered the value of Vitamin D3. I’m happy to know you also take it. I use it year around and It is very helpful during the dark days of winter. ⭐️
Allie— Temperature is up to 11 degrees Fahrenheit? Yikes! Good for you to give the birds meal worms. 🌸. Love the photo of Miles. 😊
Machka — “She’s making a database and sorting it twice . . Making sure the details are accurate and right. . . .
Mrs. Claus is getting her work done.⭐️ 😘
Rori— I absolutely agree with Lisa in AR. Your kindness and strength is remarkable. You helped me at the Colorado Airport more than once a few years ago. You are a generous and helpful friend. 💖
Rebecca— Congrats on hearing your son on Guam. I am delighted for you and your son. 😊 Photos of Athena with her dad are priceless.
Tomorrow I will go to a family celebration with DD to her MIL’s home. DH will remain here and get physical therapy. I’ll give him a big hug when I get back.

Greetings to all this Christmas Day!
In a minute I will take DH a cup of tea and we will open the presents Father Christmas has brought us.
Then, the exercise room! Yes, Lisa, a great idea. We are in there every morning, and I often row in the afternoon.
After that, it's face on and off to the beach, (if it's not raining), meeting DDIL and the kids. Back to their house for lunch, slaved over by my son.
Hoping to make an exit around tea time, to settle in for the evening at home, with blinis and faux caviar, iberico ham, champagne, and something decent on the TV. Call The Midwife, Doc Martin, and The Great Pottery Celebrity Throwdown. Nothing to scare the horses!
Huge love to all my friends on here. Stay safe in the cold.

Wishing all who celebrate a very Merry Christmas!
I hope that all of you manage to stay warm, it's most foul in more than a few places. Our cold spell has finally broken, not a moment too soon, our area is just not equipped to handle/deal with snow. The snowplow came down our road, but seemed to be scared to hurt the asphalt, so only skimmed the top four or five inches off the road. Doesn't do much good when there's a foot of snow there..... That happened mostly Monday night. I didn't go anywhere Tues or Wed and wouldn't have on Thurs either, except I had a flare up and needed to pick up a prescription. Roads were awful, the parking lot was a nightmare! as were the line ups at the tills! Oh and traffic was also very heavy. We live up a hill, so getting home was a bit of an adventure, but the lot for our townhouse complex was well plowed and I hit pavement at just the right moment!
This morning I started to do my baking for tomorrow and realized that I didn't have any currants. Can't make butter tarts without currants and Christmas dinner at my place just doesn't work without butter tarts, so off to the store I went. Roads were actually pretty good, asphalt showing on the ones that were really icky on Thurs, not because they got plowed again, but because the temp is so much warmer today and last night.
It's late, I really must get to bed. Family is here for dinner tomorrow, it's only four adults and two kids, our son and daughter in law and their two littles. I haven't seen the kids for over a week, I am missing them so really looking forward to seeing them!
Congrats to those celebrating, hugs for those who need them and welcome to the newbies!

Belated welcome @Highmtnlady68!
Rebecca, thought of you yesterday as I balanced the checking account to the penny. So satisfying! Was a bit of a struggle due headache from whatever bug is trying to get me down ;} Now on to reconciling and paying the Visa bill love your and Barbie’s snow pics.
Rita your “snow on the mountains (but not where I am)” gratitude made me LOL too. Ditto in spades.
Lisa thanks but no history of anemia. Think the fatigue was precursor to whatever bug got me Thursday night. Flaming sore throat, earache and “stupid head” since then. Spent yesterday and today in bathrobe. Joe is relieved there will be no holiday dinner ;} If the fatigue persists after the bug departs will definitely ask the doc to test. Thanks for thinking of me! the pics of sleeping grands after “accidental” hike
Still skimmin’ only through pg 48 but head is pounding so it’s back to bed with an aspirin.
Merry Christmas one and all!

Not much to do this morning. Fresh fruit salad to make for my dessert. Some veg to prepare to take to DEGS who has decided not to join the family as he doesn’t want to get Covid. DYD is also not joining us as she is recovering from a chest infection (not Covid). DH and I are on mercy mission duty to make sure everyone gets their Christmas presents/dinner.

Christmas Day
Relaxing
Reading
Colouring
Gardening -- little bit. Among that, I pulled out a meal's worth of new potatoes.
Cycling
Walking Rhody
Dining -- with those new potatoes.
A Christmas Carol - the best one, of course.
Cycling - slightly longer than yesterday.
And now I think I'm going to put White Christmas on.

Merry Christmas! All is quiet at my house. Husband is sleeping, presents all wrapped, Saran wrap ball done for oldest daughter and family, dishwasher emptied, laundry done, sitting in the glow of the Christmas tree and outside lights. What a wonderful way to start the day! Still have a migraine, but that can be a daily occurrence for up to a week.
Our holiday parade on our street was suppose to have been on Friday afternoon. Because of the nasty weather coming in the committee was able to move it to Thursday Evening. We had a zero turn mower pulling a canoe, several UTVs, a couple of 4 wheelers, a golf cart, a tractor, a hot rod, a couple of trucks, and the local police and ambulance. It was drizzly and lightly attended due to change in time, but still fun. My youngest daughter and family came over. Grandson drove us in the parade in our UTV. I am hoping someone got pictures, I forgot. We did Christmas with them afterwards. I made the oldest granddaughter (19) cry with her present. It was a necklace that included a note that said she was smart and brave and to remember that she is always MY granddaughter. She loves it! Youngest grandson (14) got Legos which he was excited about. They Love the Saran Wrap ball. I use to buy small gifts for the kids and then get experiences for them as a family. These days that has gotten harder to do so generally I just give cash but include a note about how special they are to me and highlight my favorite qualities about them. I was told that even the boys kept their notes from last year.
Today, I know I am going to see my oldest daughter and her family in Kentucky. Whether my husband joins me or not is yet to be determined. My oldest volunteered to come up here due to his attitude, but that isn't what I want. The plan is to go down there and if the roads are dicey I would rather it be me on them than my precious family. I have more experience. So we will see what he decides
I hope everyone spends today as they can/wish to.
Thank you all for still be so supportive! So just throwing this in here to catch you up with me and a few other thoughts. In August my DH was scheduled at end of Sept to have a heart monitor implanted to monitor the AFIB since it was so sporadic, yet occurring more frequently. He failed his stress test, but not enough information to warrant the ablation. In September while on vacation (which was wonderful!) we ended up in the ER in Pigeon Forge as his HR was over 150 almost all day and he had started getting nauseous. They ran all sorts of tests and actually caught his heart in AFIB on the EKG. Actually they caught it going in and out of AFIB on the EKG. After 4 hours and two different medicines, they were finally able to get the rate to stay consistently below 120. The next morning he quit smoking his little cigarillos as he felt the heart rate increase badly with one hit. I notified both his heart doctors about what had happened via My Chart. The following week, his electrical heart doctor himself called us. He had been waiting on all of the test results from TN. He immediately put my DH on a different medicine and scheduled him for the ablation. Thankful for Walgreens being both in Ohio and Tennessee.
The first weekend of October I was suppose to go to my HS reunion in Virginia. I didn't feel comfortable leaving DH home alone as his heart still was beating weird, but I did take the Saturday off work anyway. I had a wonderful visit with an old friend, did a little shopping, and watched youngest grandson at his football game. It was a wonderful day!
November finally came and DH had his ablation. His heart was still in AFIB while waiting to go into the procedure. They strapped him down, hooked him up, and wouldn't you know his heart went back into sinus rhythm! They had to put him back into AFIB to do the ablation. I am so thankful that my youngest daughter, who works at the same hospital, wasn't busy that day, so she sat with me while he was in surgery. The ablation seems to be working! We saw the heart doctors at the beginning of December and he gets to quit taking the two expensive heart medicines when we finish up the latest refill. Yay! DH still not smoking, but his weight is taking a hit. He hasn't worried about that part for years as the AFIB kept his heart pumping fast which kept his weight down. He has to learn to watch things now.
I was suppose to go on a girls trip the beginning of December. Non-refundable reservations. Girlfriend was sick. I told DH that I was going anyway and offered for him to accompany me if he wanted. He said yes. I was apprehensive as I really needed some away from him time, but we had a wonderful trip from start to finish.
These are the highlights. I still am treading water, but have more good days then bad. Just wanted to catch you up with my life. I am taking things I have learned from each of you and others and applying those lessons to the new year. SMART goals, written out, small steps...just need to complete some things to start new year fresh.
I am so appreciative of ALL of you! You are SMART, CARING, and STRONG women! I am PROUD to call
you my friends! I have missed lots with you all, but will try to pick up where left off.
Merry Christmas!!!!
Much LOVE!!!
Hugs!
Healing thoughts!
Kylia in Ohio thankful for such a wonderful community8 -
Kylia -We're just glad to see you back. Thanks for the info on the ablation. It's probably in my future, but I still have a faint hope that they'll be able to get it fixed without surgery. So glad that it worked for your husband!
Beth - Woke up and checked your weather - holy snowpocalypse, woman! Hope you and yours are riding out the storm safe and warm!
Egg is in the bedroom trying to wake Corey up - she doesn't like it when he varies his routine. Hopefully he can sleep through her dawn chorus and get a few extra zzzzs.
Nothing on my agenda except another cup of tea.
Love y'all,

Good morning ladies! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and a special wish for love, peace, and joy to all.
Kylia so good to see you back!
I learned that when I wake up in the night and read this forum, I retain very little in the morning.
The banana bread should be started at nine, in the oven well before ten and cool enough to take at eleven-thirty. I can get dressed while it bakes. That's my plan, but I don't think I have ever made banana bread before.

My husband can make good banana bread. When I make it, it comes out flat as a pancake.
I hope yours is good!

We are so fortunate here. Two days ago it was fourteen degrees with many inches of snow. This morning it is 44 degrees and the snow is nearly gone. I set my boots with YakTrax aside and returned to regular winter walking shoes I'll walk by myself this morning before dawn and then with my Sunday walking friend at 9:30. I finished listening to "A Christmas Carol" and am now listening to "A Child's Christmas in Wales". I hope you will all be safe today.

Amazing to see the weather report for next weekend - most of you in the bitter cold will be seeing daytime temps in the 40's and 50's by then. Thankfully, the door to the deep freeze will be slammed shut for a while.
Stay safe and warm!

Merry Christmas ladies!!
It is a very quiet Christmas. My first one not spending it with my mom. I will call her later this afternoon.
Son went to his girlfriend's last night beings we weren't doing anything. DH got up early to go take care of his mom. I wish he would tell her was coming an hour later once in a while so he could get an hour more sleep. Instead, he gets up and complains about it- very pissy mood when he got up because he was running late-He is also annoyed that he is having to do a few extra chores that I usually do but cant quite yet. So, I am here by myself, just like any other day.
Good part of having this surgery is I have a valid reason to not go to MIL's.
Back on the Norco for the pain but only 1/2 pills and only one more Keflex which I am thrilled about- not thrilled with they yeast infection I am now fighting because of them.
Dh picked up precooked food at the deli at the Safeway he works at so not cooking anything today. Son was going to help me cook a little but dh picked it all up- He will take food to his mom and then we will eat when he gets back I guess.
Here are two pictures- sorry, don't know how to use the spoiler to hide them for those who don't want to see them.
First one is right after surgery and the second was Friday after the bandages were off and I got a shower. The incision on my neck is what is hurting the most. It is hard to see in that picture but the incision is from just below my ear, almost to my chin.
Still sleeping propped up on the couch for a few more days. The cats are enjoying it- they all want to sleep with me.

Allie- I love the picture of the fireplace- That is my favorite part of my mom's house- Always has been. It is huge and made with hand picked river rock.
Love all the pictures of the cute kids-
I need to start taking notes when I read- there were more I wanted to comment on but can't remember now-
MERRY CHRISTMAS6 -

For the past hour DH has been sleeping and I have been sitting in my chair with the sun coming in. No tasks but to read this blog and text a few friends! It is blissful! A Christmas morning I might not forget! I love all the pictures that have been posted. I really enjoy Miles and hope I get to be a grandmother!

Quiet Christmas for me. Talked to my son for 2 hours last night. He was alone so called us. Talked to middle daughter during the day by accident. My Subaru’s radio is acting all weird right now. If I connect my phone, the radio randomly dials people, changes radio stations, and other weird stuff. Car dialed my DMD 6 times! Lol so, I had to call her for real and apologize, LOL. Did have a nice conversation with her though.
DH is making lamb for dinner which is about all we are doing for Christmas. Heard from friends and relatives this morning, so nice day overall. Plus, 2 days ago it was 19 degrees in the middle of the day, yesterday was 40, today is already 50!
Merry Christmas to all!

Have a great Christmas everyone12 -
Debbie - I think your nose looks good! You are healing rapidly .
Heather - great family photos. Every time I see your husband's smile doing family things and having fun with the grands, I wonder what his life would have been like if he'd never met you. I'm sure you've brought so much love and excitement into his world, more than he ever imagined.
Pip - so glad your 2 new furkids have become a part of your life so quickly.
Short pet story - when my DH was still here, Rosie would snooze on his chest and our old kitty would lay on the back of the sofa right above him. After he passed, kitty didn't come back into the house - she stayed in the shop where her food, water, litter box and bed is or would snooze on the bench outside the shop under the overhang where he used to sit and pet her. This past week, she has wanted back in the house again. She has decided the office chair is her new favorite spot and she stays there all day. Also, she comes to me to get petted and "talks" to me. This never happened before. She's 16.
Rosemarie - these are my "cleats" - I got them many years ago. Basically pull on over shoes for walking on ice. The parking lot where I used to work often was covered with black ice in the winter so these saved me many a spill. They were LOTS cheaper when I bought them!
On the agenda for this afternoon since it's close to 50f - attempt to start the lawn mower and run it a few minutes to keep the battery charged. Want to get it into the shop before mowing season to get it serviced and blades sharpened and/or replaced. If it doesn't start, I'll borrow my neighbor to help get the trickle charger hooked up. This time I'll pay attention so I can do it myself next time.
Lanette
SW WA State
UPDATE - mower started right up, I pulled it out of the shop and let it run for about 10 minutes. A hearty "thank you" to the god of lawn equipment, similar to the "thank you" every time I go into the garage and thank my old cars for getting me where I need to go. Doesn't get any better than this.9 -
I am waiting for DD to come for me. We will be going to see family from England. I haven’t met them before, and look forward to meeting them.6
-
Thanks Lanette- Love your kitty story- Since I have been stuck on the couch each night, I have had extra cats hanging out with me. Most nights there are three.Very little room for me and boy does it get warm. Even if I didn't want them on me, they stay there anyways.2
