Barbie - we could use some snow for traction here. Our whole county has ground to a halt, freezing rain has covered everything with a coating of ice. Hwy 12 closed. Eerily quiet when I step out (gingerly) onto the deck. Supposed to warm up above freezing before noon.
I dug out my ice cleats and will strap them on and head out before long and hang the hummingbird feeder hung for the kids.
Pip - don't you miss this weather? You used to ride your bike to work on days like this!
Lanette

I do miss the snow, kirby doesn’t miss riding (bike) in it. It was a fun challenge. Riding 52 weeks out of the year was pure dedication no matter the weather. I definitely miss looking at the snow.

The wind is howling outside, and Teddy still feels uncomfortable in his jacket. Well he will be wearing it a lot for the next few days.
The news said both to turn off your water and to let it drip. I'm not sure which Dad did, but he waited until the last minute to do it. I'm dreading the time when I take over house maintenance. It's not my talent. So far he does it all.
Take care ladies, stay safe and check on your loved ones. It would be awful to lose power on a night like tonight.

yeah- got to take a long hot shower. Felt so great to wash my hair!
Got the stitches and bandages off-the desolveable ones are still there but will go away on their own.
Very tender on my neck now that the bandage is off and I move a bit too much.
Only a few more days of Keflex- found out today that I can have my ginger now which helps with the side effects of the meds-
Talked to mom and told her I would not be coming up- she totally understands- first Christmas not being with her
DH is picking up pre-cooked turkey breasts from his store(from the deli department) and he asked me to make a couple sides. I will have my son help me with the mashed potatoes and then I will steam some broccoli. I will cook for my mother in law but I won't let him guilt trip me into going over there.
I will use this in my favor. Takes a lot to get out of going over there!
Going to go grab a snack(took Keflex so need to eat something) and lay back down.
Made it through the week.
Sure doesn't feel like Christmas.
Have a wonderful Christmas weekend ladies

I've been reading a lot since my surgery on December 14. It's wonderful! I usually get to read 2 chapters a week, but so far, I've finished 3 whole books.
Today, I started this one ...

The big storm and frigid wind has passed through Colorado. Wednesday I was spending a quiet night at home preparing to make healthy gingerbread, when my friend from Florida called to say she was stranded at the Denver airport. Could I pick her up? Sure. At the moment I said that, I didn't realize that it was starting to snow, and the temperature was falling super fast. By the time I made it to the airport, the temperature had dropped 35 degrees in one hour! What normally would be a 90 minute round trip took 3.5 white knuckle hours... Blowing snow, temps so low my tire pressure warning light popped on, and no lane lines on any of the interstates as the snowplows were just getting started on their important work. And, although she is a good friend, I was a bit distraught that I had no warning and therefore no opportunity to get my home set up for a visitor. Well, it didn't matter a whit to her. She was grateful that she had a place to spend the next 2 nights awaiting her rescheduled flight to see family in Steamboat Springs. We had a pleasant visit, and when I had to go to work, she was able to spend time with other friends in the area.
Heather: "being the gift" struck home. I realized that my driving ability is my gift to friends. I reflected that this year I took different friends across high mountain passes, the infamous Road to Hana, and back to my house in conditions that were dark and treacherous. Among my local friends, there are a few who don't drive at night and others who won't go downtown. I'm good with driving anywhere, anytime.
Betsy: Belated Happy Birthday.
I work the final Nutcracker matinee tomorrow, and then will go have a drink with a colleague before I to to candlelight service at my church. Let me be first to wish you all a beautiful Christmas Eve, full of light and warmth, and love and good cheer.

Rori, i love your answers. Your comment about working the Nutcracker reminded me of my brother's recent painting - I told him I would love to buy this painting from him, but someone already snatched it up! Actually, someone I am glad to see it go to:
Merry Christmas Eve!

Karen - Gorgeous painting. I aim to be that creative!
Not a good night again. Just a general buzzy feeling and low-lying dread. Yes, I know it's silly. DH and I are making fun of it by crying "D O O M !" every so often. At least we understand each other's free floating angst, and we have it about different things and at different times, thank goodness.
I want to get the Christmas food and presents over to my son's, as it's weighing on my mind. Either we take it this morning, or I will ask him to come over and pick them up this evening, as I'm not keen on us driving over there in the dark. Just another neurosis.
I think I need to go for a run! No wind. Just have to get out early to avoid the Parkrun.

Hi,
I really have missed you ladies! Somehow my psyche has been spiralling out of control this year. I spoke with my doctor and she gave me meds. I believe they are helping, but may need dosage adjusted. I will discuss that at next appointment in early January. I have just been overwhelmed and seemingly only getting bare minimum accomplished. I reckon my husband and I are still alive, the house is clean, and I still have a job, so I am more blessed than many.
I wanted to pop on and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
I will read/write more later. I really have missed you all!
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio trying to survive the winter. I keep telling myself only 8 more weeks. ❤15
