'80 here today, warming up a bit for the rest of the week. We are doing a toy show(hoping to sell a bunch of extra's he has had for years) and said Vacaville is supposed to be 97 on Saturday. I sure hope they have us inside and not just under a canopy. If we are outside- won't be bringing any of the 3D printed stuff, except the helmet that he is finishing up. It is from Battlestar Galactica and the actor who wore the original is going to be there. DH wants him to sign it.
Walked 1 1/2 hrs at the wetlands today- took a little different path- saw my humming bird. That always makes me happy.
at13,500 steps so far.
Hit just over 20,000 yesterday after walking and zumba.
Should get that again tomorrow.3 -
I am beyond happy with our newly installed kitchen roll out cabinets for our kitchen and spice rack. We started out on our walk at 6:30 so we could get home by 9am. Most places ask for a deposit or 1/2 now and rest when he’s done. He just wanted full payment when he was done and we were happy. He was Kind, efficient, punctual and pleasant to deal with. Before and after pics.

Pip those cabinets look lovely!2

Pip, Those cabinets are great. I love the pot holder that says "Love is a four legged word".2
-
Pip - the cabinets look amazing. It's exactly what I want when we get ours redone. Couple years off, still, but a girl can dream.
Annie - Sounds like a couple of tough days. Glad you're working with the PT folks.
Heather - Johnny is a saint among men. What a charming picture.
Got through the test with minimal trauma this morning - they're always less disturbing than I predict when I'm dreading them. Had to bolt a quart of contrast, which just tasted like stale water, wait an hour, lay on a sort of mini-MRI table, with just a donut at one end. They put an IV in for another contrast, fed that in at the ten-minute mark, ten more minutes of sliding in and out of the donut, and I was done. Talking to the PCP tomorrow over the phone. At least I don't have to go anywhere, or fast beforehand.
\
More cold and rainy all day tomorrow and Thursday, too.
Later, my lovelies,
Lisa in AR

Pip, I love the cabinets.
I told my son he could decide where his Dad's ashes go and I would go where ever his Dad went. He still hasn't decided and it may be several years before he does. Meanwhile the ashes are in with DH's shirts which I don't plan to give away. This brings me great comfort and peace.
I heard from a high school friend today. 4 high school friends have really kept in touch these past 2 months. It is interesting how you can go years with minimal contact and then all of a sudden have these friends in your life again. I would love to see them when I go up North in June but I am nervous about the driving in MA. Maybe I can use the GPS and take back roads. I am flying into Providence so that I don't have to drive in Boston. Now in my younger days I lived in Boston and was a pro at driving on the Boston roads!
My wedding anniversary isn't until June 28th but I have been thinking how I want to spend the day. I will be at the cat house in the morning and tired from this. My dh loved to eat out but I am thinking I will cook myself a meal and eat it with a candle. I just have to look at recipes to decide what to cook. Maybe I will have lobster!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

glad your test went better than expected- I found out the hard way that I am very allergic to the contrast they used on me-(iodine). and SUPER claustrophobic on the scan that is enclosed(don't remember if it is the MRI or CT
Two different ones that were both terrible, in different ways

Worked, had our last bowling for the season on Monday. They are going to have no tap on Mondays in the summer. I don’t like no tap, besides Vince won’t be bowling so I won’t either. I did not enjoy the Wednesday regular league when I was on it last summer and swore that I wouldn’t go on it again. Now that Vince is hurting, I definitely won’t.
He went for his first pt Monday. I suspect that they’re giving him exercises but after a while I think those exercises should be done maybe every 2 or 3 days. I think Vince thinks that he goes to pt and it gets better. I suspect he’ll have to keep it up, probably until vitamin E is developed.
Went to ceramics Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be finished with Jess’ Stuart Jr. snail pretty soon. Took my large angel fish to clear coat it. Brought it home and Vince will probably put the stripes on it for me.
Getting my hair cut tomorrow. I don’t work so I can exercise. Planning to do Results Boost Your Metabolism DVD.
Did a body pump DVD today after work then went to the Salvation Army. I got a bunch of KettleWorx DVDs. Since I don’t have kettlebells, I’m thinking that I can probably use a free weight.
Debbie – so glad Nick is getting help. Sad that the family refuses to take any blame.
Took the robotic cleaner out of the pool, started to open him to take out the basket, and he started up! The top fell into the pool and the pool is so cloudy that we can’t see to get it out. Guess we just have to wait until the pool clears up a bit.
KJ – so glad you are safe from your “encounter” with the turkey. Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me how much damage they can do. I like your saying how the prism is life
Made pops the other day. KJ – I bet this is something you can even have your kiddos make. Take a 32ox contain of Greek yogurt (plain), a 12oz can of OJ concentrate, defrost the OJ but do not reconstitute it. Mix the two together and pour it into a pop mold. Freeze. They’re high in calcium, low in sugar, and most importantly, cheap.
Barbara – I love how you respond to so many people.
Kim – love the photos. Simple, yet elegant
Saw on facebook that Pete’s grandmother died. To me, no big loss. Really, she was quite rude to us at Denise’s wedding. Denise didn’t tell us, like I would not have cared anyway.
Lanette – glad to hear you’re getting things done on the house
Dr Katie – recently, when I go to add food, I always have to reload the page. Wasn’t like that before. Not that it’s a big thing.
My in-laws had their headstone engraved and when they passed, then just the year needed to be added. My father’s ashes are buried in a veteran’s cemetery in NJ. Haven’t been there since we took his ashes there. His second wife is buried with my mother and I have no desire at all to go to her grave. My mother? Maybe. But not her. So that means that I won’t ever go to my mother’s grave if given the chance.
I’d like to be cremated and then have a big party
pip – glad you had such a good experience getting your kitchen done. I just hope we have as a good an experience when the time comes that we update the kitchen at the condo. Great cabinets

I watched GunSmoke with DH this evening. It was an early episode & Matt Dillon was a younger man than he was in later shows. DH is asleep now and I’m watching TV in my place. ❤️

Pip - Those sliding shelves look great! Especially the top ones. I'm very envious! I love the couple of thin ones we've got, and our corner turntable that takes all our saucepans. But could do with more for supplies.
My son came over yesterday to pick up Bea. He is worn out from all the business with the house renovation. Although they have an architect, he seems to be doing everything himself to troubleshoot all the problems that come up, and they are BIG problems. Supplies, underpinning, windows not arriving, insurance claims, he is on the phone sorting it. Plus he has been promoted at work, and does most of the work of looking after three children. Trying to borrow more money from the bank. House prices falling a bit.
I knew it would be like this, but they were so 'gung ho' and optimistic. I went through two major house renovations and they nearly killed me. Still, it will be all over one day, and it will be lovely. If he still has his health!
Of course, teachers' strikes don't help, so DH is having the girls tomorrow. DDIL has a podcast recording to do at the apartment. There is another strike next Tuesday, after the early May Bank holiday. Soooo many bank holidays in May with extra for the coronation. Not good when you work at home! Three children in the apartment.
They go off for a week's holiday at the end of May, and can't wait.
Today I may run, then write, (just finishing off my chapter on personal growth courses), then do some painting with DH. We're not going to French Circle tonight as we both have a heavy schedule tomorrow. I've emailed the organiser, who is doing the talk, and also the new person we meet there. I suggested a coffee sometime, and she was very receptive to the idea! We shall see if she becomes a friend. I don't know a lot about her yet.
Good news is that DH received his notification for his new Covid booster! He is going on Sunday. This will be his 6th jab! Good timing 7 weeks before the cruise.
Love to all. Hope my hips hold out for the run. They were really painful yesterday on the walk back from school.

Yep ... the large donut is a CT scan. 😀
I've had many, especially for my kidney stones.

The enclosed one is the MRI ... or as I like to call it "Nap Time!" I fall asleep in them.
I think I have had more MRIs than CTs because I get the MRIs for joint issues and to monitor my brain cyst.
I'm in one or the other at least once a year.

Last MRI I had at Ohio State was different-they had a mirror in the top so if you opened your eyes you could see out and see staff behind the glass wall. Still kept eyes closed most of the time-I don't sleep through them but do meditate.
Staff meetings yesterday and two more today. Used to just have two groups but since Covid break them down to groups of 50 or so each. Good to see everyone but tiring!
Got blood work taken Monday. Got message from lab order was wrong. Contacted Endo office. They were on it before I texted them. Turns out lab tech entered order wrong. They are running tests now so no need for redraw. I think this is first time this has ever happened, so not too bad.
Pip-enjoy new cabinets! I wish I had gotten pull outs when I got kitchen redone. I love the corner lazy Susan I have for pots.
Annie-have you checked computer cords to make sure connection is secure? Sometimes the wires get crimped. Flickering screen is quite often drivers, but I thought you checked for that. I find the current Windows to be strange. I am much preferring my Mac, but have to use Windows at work.
Heather-Son's renovation does sound massive.
Off to get some stretches in before work. Working from home tomorrow and vacation day Friday!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio2 -
Good Wednesday.
New furnace/ac unit going in today. Ouch! DH gets that task. I did make heart doctor appt for today. I am seeing her PA. We will see. I am not happy to try another medicine, but DH getting concerned.
Ginny and Machka I think I will see if I can work from home one day a week after we get through Spring. It would be a good mental health day. Fingers crossed. I like that idea.
MRI/CT I am claustrophobic and barely managed CT of heart. Neuro gave me Valium for the MRI that insurance declined. I need to call around for getting that done without insurance.
Turnarounds/lazy susans I always thought they were for food. Mine has canned goods, boxed goods, and things like oils and syrups. My daughter uses hers for pots/pans. I had never thought of that and just thought she was weird, yet several of you do the same thing. She does have a shallow pantry. I only have kitchen cabinets. I love my slide outs which I use for pots. Baking goods are in the top corner cabinet which I wished also had lazy Susan in it, but not deep enough. I require a step stool for anything above the second shelf and that one is a stretch. The most used items are low.
Nothing else exciting on this side.
High fives!
Hugs!
Lots of ❤️

But you can just about sit up in a CT scan. And there's only a little bit of you that's in the enormous hoop (donut).

I'm finding all the arrangements a bit vague for my OCD, so I'm keeping out of it until I know their definite plans.
I have OCD too! Donna from NC0 -
Machka I know, but I had to keep looking over my head or my heart would race. Not sure why it was such a problem. CT I can at least do without extra meds.0

Back to work today but because it was a gorgeous day, I took a walk to the Botanical Gardens at lunch. 5.7 kilometres.

Good Morning, dear hearts!
Dinner last night with my wife and my old medical school classmate who is now head of Radiology at the Medical College of Virginia. She is a brilliant photographer and just got back from a trip to Borneo. To kick off her Borneo visit, a startled monkey bit her leg. She said it was one of the most challenging trips she has ever been on.
This photo is not from her Borneo trip, but the comment is so typical of her. She is a stitch and I love her.
Have a good day, my friends.

I’m up and had a shower at 6:43 am. I am in a comfortable chair and have a sunny view of a lovely farmhouse across the road.
Machka—I love the photos you took at the botanical gardens. They’re beautiful!
Last night I watched Gun-smoke with DH. I gave him a kiss good night and came up to my place and watched TV. I enjoyed several shows set in Alaska.

Morning ladies
Here with Mr Miles
Who didn't sleep well so is napping.
Going to be a yucky few weeks here with clouds rain and lower than normal temps.
Tonight we are supposed to have a Spring Fling get together at our condo complex.will see if im up to it..I signed up to go.. but I didn't sleep well either.1 -
Ooof! Spring yard work. I am taking it bit by bit (30 minutes at a time) and my glutes are feeling it! This past weekend was mainly "clean-up" of branches and pulled a few weeds in the flower beds. But yeah, hello muscles I haven't used in a year! I am down a couple of pounds! Yea! I also got a phone call yesterday from my "secret keeper" friend. She lives in NM so we don't see each other often; and only communicate about four times a year. But it was nice to hear her voice. Yesterday morning, as I sat drinking my coffee, it started snowing. At first I was really irritated, because the warmer temps have been really nice. But the snowflakes were so big and fluffy, I changed my mind and decided they were beautiful. So...I ran downstairs and grabbed my two pre-lit trees; brought them up and plugged them in. We had hot cocoa and marshmallows, sang Christmas songs, and decorated our craft (caterpillars) with Christmas craft supplies. The temps rose and the snow was gone by noon. It was a great day!
Pip - Love the cupboards! I have been rethinking mine. We really haven't done any remodeling of our home since we moved in. Just a fresh coat of paint here and there, over the years. I have noticed that my DH has been having trouble getting into some of the cupboards; so definitely need to think about alternative storage solutions.
Michele- we have made the yogurt pops before. One frozen treat that we make/eat more often is this: Fill a small waffle cone with layers of yogurt, blueberries, strawberry or raspberry puree, and top with a few mini chocolate chips. Then wrap them in foil and freeze them. The kids call them Supercones; because I told them the fruits we used are "superfoods" and very, very, good for them. lol
Katiebug- Wow! So busy with the talks! I wish I were there to hear them! I am sure you will do well!
Heather- I love that Edie can express herself to you! It sounds as if she recognizes that "soulmate/soulsister" in you, her grandmother. What a special bond to have! And can I just say, your DH is amazing and wonderful the way he interacts with the kids. It takes a special man to walk down the street in a bow and rainbow backpack! lol Just wonderful!
Karen- The services and friendship within your community is fantastic! I love to hear all of the things you do.
Cremation vs Burial- I was 26 when my parents passed away; my youngest sibling was 22 and in the army. My parents wished to be cremated, but had no wishes on what to do with the ashes. My youngest sibling wanted a place to visit them, so we bought a plot in the local cemetery and had a stone put in for both my parents. Their ashes went to my sister's place. Urns were never bought as the intention was to scatter the ashes at a time when all six of us kids were together. So...mom and dad stayed in their original "containers/boxes" and took up residence in a closet. They eventually made the move to Florida with my sister. Because my family has a twisted sense of humor, we would comment about "mom and dad retired in Florida" and make other weird comments that we thought were absolutely hilarious in our own irreverent way. lol (my parents would have found it funny as well). Anyway, their ashes were finally scattered, many years later, when my younger sister passed away and wanted her ashes scattered on family property up north. So, the day after my younger sister's memorial service, four of us (one brother couldn't make it) took the three hour drive north and scattered the ashes of all three. It felt wonderfully fulfilling. We spent some time walking along the hillside and talked and gathered wintergreen. As we were heading back to our car, we found eight heart shaped wooden buttons. We took that as a sign. There were five of us siblings left, plus the three children of my late sister. We all got a button from the spot where their ashes were scattered. My kids know that I wish to be cremated. Ideally I would like me sent into the atmosphere so my ashes can travel to all corners of the world. BUT...(weird sense of humor coming) I also told my kids I would be just as happy in the dumpster behind my favorite chinese restaurant. If they want to feel close to me and talk to me, turn their face to the sun and breathe in deeply. Or look up at the moon and know that I walked this earth and breathed this same air.
Wow! long post. I have to scoot. Breakfast is over and the kids are ready to get outside. It is going to be high 50s today! Crazy Michigan weather! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

My new trainers arrived, but they were slightly too big, so I'm exchanging them for half a size smaller. Got the QR code from Amazon and walked to the nearest shop. It explicitly says in the instructions that you don't have to package it up. It was already in the shoe box. The young guy there couldn't find a bag big enough, so he refused the parcel, despite me arguing as hard as I could about my rights. So I returned home and found the big bag in the recycling and went back again. Got it done, but I was very cross.
Came home and rang Amazon to complain. Told them that the shop was not adhering to their returns policy and they should provide more bags.
New size should arrive tomorrow.
I will be out in Portsmouth, but DH should be in with the kids. My son might also bring his laptop here to work as my DDIL has to have quiet for the recording.
I finished this painting of the two of them. I'm quite pleased with it, inspired by a picture I saw online.
It looks like my son, but DDIL's chin is a tiny bit too strong. I didn't have a full profile picture of her.

Well, saw my heart ❤️ Dr's PA today. He recommended no medicine at this time! His concern is my body reactions to meds with a basically healthy heart. So for now, exercise (still no HITT), eat properly, and manage stress. Monitor BP and follow up if any changes. Concentrate on foods rich in magnesium.
Woo-hoo! Now maybe I can move forward.
❤️
