I have nothing but admiration for the wonderful people who looked after me so well, but I’m glad to be back home.
DYD visited me In hospital on Friday night, and called round to see me settled home on Saturday night. I Skyped with the rest of my family yesterday afternoon.
I will try and catch up with all your doings today.
I'm glad things went well for you. Continue recovering well!

Irish Terri, Ah, so glad you are on this side of your procedure and home forging on. Yay!!! Totally in sync with your for Lisa’s prism post. I adore prisms and crystals and don’t know why I don’t have any at the moment. My birthday is in July, though. There is still a societal expectation that women will subjugate their needs to others. Being assertive is deliberately misinterpreted as being pushy or aggressive. Shrugging off all of that is freeing.
Kim, Wonderful photos…love your capture of the shadows...and I really love poppies. My poppy favorites are the ubiquitous big orange opium poppies. We had some planted in a filled-in koi pond in our lawn in Nebraska when I was a kid. My dad was very careful not to mow over the interior of the old koi pond in the middle of the lawn, and delighted in the poppies when they appeared. The interior of the poppies was purple velvet, and the petals were thin soft crepe. Delight.
Barbara, Bobbi’s rum cake is to die for. Agree; the rum cake gifts are worth an occasional velvet barb. The trick is to politely acknowledge & respond to her disguised message directly after being harpooned. The rum cake is her “touché” and/or “sorry". She is fun and I get her. I am so enriched by knowing her. She has led an amazing privileged life, so very different from my own. I love hearing about her past adventures.
Lisa, Yeah, I don’t think Bobbi is used to people responding to her subtext. She is the Experts’ Expert at Southern Speak.

Today my wife’s son is having a vasectomy. Their oldest (LillyBell) is barking like a seal, so I believe I am going over at 9 to stay with her rather than taking her to Daycare. It will make the day less complicated for them. Will probably stay until around 2. I’m looking forward to it. I don’t know if my spouse will go or not. I think the baby (Rory) will be at Daycare.
So meditation at 8:30, then over to spend the morning with LillyBell, and probably will go to Social Trivia at 4:30. It’s challenging and fun.

Carla, Yes, minors do need to (at least informally) consent to an accompanying parent coming into the room with them, because otherwise they would not have the opportunity to privately disclose one of the specific situations where the minor’s confidentiality is protected by HIPAA rules.
But if a minor chose to go into an examination room by herself for evaluation of influenza symptoms, it is very unlikely that a provider would fail to disclose the diagnosis to the parent in the waiting room, or prescribe Tamiflu to the minor without the consent, knowledge, and involvement of her parents.

Monday --
Kind of a weird day because tomorrow is a stat holiday - ANZAC Day - and a lot of people were off work.
In addition to work ...
We dealt with some more legal stuff.
We got our COVID boosters.
I finally figured out how to adjust my office chair ... thank goodness!!
This evening, I'm relaxing because I was up late on Sunday night working on legal stuff. I should go in for a law degree next.
Sleeping in tomorrow!!

I was not brought up to be in any way subservient to men. Thank goodness. My school, a girl's grammar school, encouraged us to believe in ourselves with no limits. My friends became doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers. I think, for the time, the 60s, we were very lucky. My mother worked full-time from the time I was 5 and my brother was 2. There was a lot wrong with my upbringing, but privileging men wasn't one of them.

Good morning ladies!
Terri glad your recovery is underway. Hope you feel well soon!
I'm feeling the pollen this morning. Scratchy throat, but better after hot tea. Nothing much on the calendar. That means lots of time for exercise!

Rebecca- I am watching the Today show and the U.S.S. George H.W.Bush was shown coming into port and showed Jenna Bush Hager doing a piece with families meeting new babies and kids growing up etc.. but I swear as they were panning the croud on the aircraft carrier I saw Owan... I don't know if you can go to the Today show website and see if you can find that .. you might have to wait a day for that to come up.. but I just don't want to get your hopes up.. Good Monday,
Sunday was a lazy yet productive day. I managed to change sheets, do laundry, cooked dinner, cleaned kitchen, did work paperwork all day, and watched several movies. Most were good, one really sucked. No real ending.
This morning finished last load of laundry. All put away. Decluttered living room and night stand, packed lunch. Now at work. Yay! Thankful I have a job with jealth insurance. Positive thought
Much love,

Friend's son had a Zoom wedding yesterday. His now wife is being deployed to Germany so it was planned in two weeks. Friends' dog and their dog were present. Loved it! Instead of baby crying the dogs chimed in to let us know they were there. My friend is a minister so she officiated. Dogs barking didn't phase here a bit. Bride wore a beautiful blue dress. Well done!10 -

Margaret ~ Love the trees, but, where is a photo of the wedding party! Good luck to the bride getting deployed.
Kylia ~ You keep saying you are glad you have a job with insurance. Since it's your husband's business, couldn't you just be added to his plicy? Just curious. Your work ethic amazes me...I could never do all you accomplish.
Rosemarie ~ It sounds like you are finding many activities to enjoy!
I am trying to make myself get up off the computer and walk more (in the house LOL). Just realize I have become a lazy butt.

Wrote a lot this morning, much to my surprise, as I didn't feel like it one bit! Amazing what you can do once you get started.
I've had no luck getting a profile pic of DDIL, but I managed to find a three quarters one after a long search on my phone. I blew it up and used that.
Work in progress. The drawings of the couple and the background of my tape picture.
Terri - Wishing you quick, easy healing.

Just when I think things are sorted! My laptop is squirrelly again and my dad is talking about cutting tree limbs down by himself. Bad idea!

Annie Did you try clearing your Browser.
Carol The wedding was on Zoom so I did not get any pictures. They did record the wedding. Perhaps a way to get photos from that.1 -
24. Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wild-life spotting. Hummingbirds have really been sucking down the juice. Say hello to the new one with a red head and white breast or the baby gray or or or…
So here I am, instead of making up yesterday’s PT or doing today’s, just had to check in here to counteract feeling sad about the friendly, sweet clerk who was killed by a drunk driver in a head on, leaving young children behind, and the father who fell to his death from a notorious trail. Thankful his son and two young friends survived though one was air-flighted to hospital.
Absolute Dogs posted this meme from Donna Ashwood. Made me think of you all.
Terri thanks! My SIL does too, but she faces the fronts to the left instead of the right :noway: LOL
Machka, thankful for strong women, including your mother and mine. “…I should go in for a law degree next” Respectfully degree. You should go for a vacation
Karen, meditation, LilyBelle, trivia, ?social? trivia, sounds like a great day!
Heather “or the time, the 60s, we were very lucky” so true. Among the many blessings I count.
Margaret the pic (looked like the space between the branches formed a heart) and hearing about the dogs at the wedding.
Kylia what Carol said about your work ethic. I got tired just reading about your “lazy” day.
Annie Time to hide or disable the chain saw? You are motivating me to get up off MY lazy butt.
Thanks gals, I feel a bit better.

ACTIVE APRIL
1.
Commit to being more active this month starting today. I commit to this by adding the exercises from the 6 minute book for over 60’s.
2. Spend as much time as possible outdoors today. Easy! LOL
3. Listen to your body and be grateful for what it can do. I do this during walking meditations every day.
4. Eat healthy and natural food today and drinks lots of water. Yogurt and raspberries for breakfast with 17 oz water bottle and coffee, more to come.
5. Turn a regular activity into a playful game today. Not sure. Joked with hairdresser while getting hair cut. Everyone was laughing and joining in.
6. Do a body-scan meditation and really notice how your body feels. I do this often in my meditations.
7. Get natural light early in the day. Dim the lights in the evening. Morning done. Will do in evening.
8. give your body a boost by laughing or making someone laugh. I will as soon as I can! Did this with friends.
9. Turn your housework or chores into a fun form of exercise. Hmmmm tbd
10. Have a day with less screen time and more movement. I’ll try.
11. Set yourself an exercise goal or sign up to an activity challenge. Already have goals: Yoga 10 mins 3 times a week, Walk 7,000 every day, 6 min HIIT -2x a day, Arm weights twice a week
12. Move as much as possible, even if you’re stuck inside. I will do. Vet this morning then normal day, so will be able to do this.
13. Make sleep a priority and go to bed in good time. Easy Peasy!
14. Relax your body & mind with yoga, tai chi or meditation. I will meditate and try to find time for yoga too. I did all I wanted to do.
15. Get active by singing today (even if you think you can’t sing). I can’t sing but will sing along with music anyway. Sang “When the ants go marching in” during my walk.
16. Go exploring around your local area and notice new things. OOOH, this sounds like fun.
17. Be active outside. Dig up weeds or plant some seeds. I will tend my container garden. I have watered it but need to remove dead leaves from tomato plants.
18. Try a new online exercise, activity or dance class. Not sure if I will have time today. Did not have time today.
19. Spend less time sitting today. Get up and move more often. After the last 2 days, this is a welcome change!
20. Focus on eating ‘a rainbow of multi-colored vegetables today. I did that on Tuesday but will try again today.
21. Regularly pause to stretch and breathe during the day. Ahhhhh. But forgot to do it.
22. Enjoy moving to your favorite music. Really go for it. Going to try to remember to do this. Forgot.
24. Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wild-life spotting. Will do! I love doing this.25. Have a ‘no screens’ night and take time to recharge yourself.
26. Take an extra break in your day and walk outside for 15 minutes
27. Find a fun exercise to do while waiting for the kettle to boil (or pan of water.)

Woke up at 4:45 am with a belly ache..I have my annual physical in June but unfortunately I think I need to speak with her about going celiac disease or going gluten free..
I've found that if I eat certain things I feel horrible and bloated ,same with dairy.. im guessing this all started after the heart surgeries and has gotten worse..
Sheesh like I need this on top of everything else.. oh well will teach me to eat better I guess.
Allie, Try a food sensitivity test. That’s how I found out about eggs and my colitis. Stopped eggs and poof! No more colitis! Walgreens has them. Probably other RX’s too and maybe Walmart. They are between $100-$200 and you get the results within 2 weeks of sending the test in. You get everything you need in the box. They are online too. Some doctors don’t believe in food sensitivities, like my Gastroenterologist, but was completely surprised I fixed my stomach issues, including GERD by this test and eliminating the top 6 foods from my diet. Helped me and may help you or others on here dealing with these issues. You hear they are not accurate, but after my experience with them, I disagree. Might help you and others!

Been in a real funk this last 10 days or so. I am retaining water too for no visible reason, making me depressed as I have been working really hard on losing weight by exercise, logging, meditating, religiously. This past week, once I went up 4 pounds overnight, has been very depressing so of course, and I know its wrong, am eating my emotions and lazy about exercise and meditation. IDK what kicked it off, no major drama around me, just in a mood. Maybe I am fighting off a bug of some kind. Even so, I hope it goes away soon.
Did I tell you ladies that my haunted radio is finally being fixed? Had to drive 2.5 hours to Lubbock TX to the Subaru dealer, leave my car for 10 -14 days so they could fix the radio, and go back once done. At least they gave us a loaner brand new Subaru Ascent which I like the SUV, fully loaded, but the gas mileage is terrible. Funny thing….. radio started acting haunted on this vehicle too! LOL. Their problem, not mine.

Rita - it's the aliens messin' with your radio.
Well the guys are here cleaning moss off the roof. Glad to get it done. They just showed up, no calls they were coming last week or anything, even tho the young man who gave me the bid said oh yes, they'd let me know. But it's not a problem, I'm home and it's neat to see them in action. The house is done, looks 100% better, and I'm getting the gutters cleaned too (finally!) Now they are moving on to the shop.
After today, we are getting a week of no rain - maybe temps in the 80's on Thurs and Fri. I am ready to mow and drag out all of my planting containers and see what's what. I"ve been watching lots of videos on reusing potting soil, what to amend with, etc. I pretty much knew this stuff and it's what I'd been doing but it's good to get a refresher.

Tracey--I love the pillow Michaela made. For her first project she did a great job.
Kim--The poppy pictures were beautiful.
Terri--Glad you are home and getting settled in.
Weekend went by to fast. Life is flying by. I did spend time on Saturday with my DDIL and DGD. Enjoyed that. Rest of weekend did what needed to be done, but just wanted to be home. New work week starting today and I am back to my normal 50 hour week. I just pray they let me hire someone soon.
Rita-- I can relate to being just feeling off. Can't pin anything down. I feel like I am going back to the time where I did not go out of my house for over a year. Spent all day cleaning one end to the other and start over. Started drinking.

HIPPA ... all I can say about HIPPA is that it was a pain when my sons turned 18 and especially with my son who was independent in all things except his health care where he was considered our permanently disabled dependent. He signed a lot of consent forms for us and that pretty much eliminated the problem. And it was a joke during Covid. My older son had an appointment with a physician in the early days of Covid ... a refill on an implanted medicinal pump so no delaying it ... we had to stand back from the receptionist by at least 20 feet and call out his name and personal information in the waiting room where others were scattered around. So much for HIPPA then ...
Terri ... glad you're home! Rest quietly and heal completely!
Vicki ... I would suggest you're feeling off because you're operating on fumes! Way too much work and your exhausted body is trying to tell you something!
Heather ... I'm enjoying yours and Johnny's experimenting with different art forms.
I was not raised to subjugate myself to anyone. Raised to be very independent which has served me well over the years but has most likely earned me some negative impressions as well. So be it. I've never set out to hurt or cause others problems, but always meant to see that things get done right.

Lanette ... chicken story. My neighbors have a little hobby farm going on in their small backyard. It's a maze of movable pens and raised garden beds and what have you. They have turkey, ducks, chickens and goats as far as I can tell. Well, some of the chickens are able to get over the yard's fence and they can often be found pecking away in my yard. They're fun to watch. Last night at dinner we saw one chicken going down our side yard into the back and I flippantly said to my guys, "that one will soon be a pile of feathers" as we have been seeing fox and coyote in the back ... most likely attracted to the hobby farm. My son and husband decided to play a little basketball out front. Not 20 minutes later, they watched a fox run full tilt towards that chicken, grab the chicken by its middle and start running towards them. The chicken, according to my son was screaming in the most pitiful way and that startled my husband and son who then decided to charge the fox! The fox, who up until this point had been solely focused on his prey, got wide-eyed at the sight of two huge men and dropped that chicken like a hot potato and ran off into the brush across the street. The chicken, believe it or not is ok! The owner messaged me last night that while the chicken was shook-up and had a couple of puncture wounds, she was eating and drinking. I think the owner took off work today though ... she was as shook-up as that chicken last night. Keep an eye on those chickies!!7

Barbara,
I love social trivia. 15-25 residents participate on any given Monday. We draw table numbers so we are seated randomly at 3-4 tables, usually 6 or 7 at a table. Willia, the Activities Supervisor, then reads out the questions on random topics (math, art, science, music) & each table submits an answer to each question. At the end there is a trivia quiz on one topic, like literature or science. Willia keeps score to see which table wins. It’s pretty fun.6 -
