It's been awhile but I swear this time I'm staying until I reach my goal...
Original Start Weight (4/20/2021) - 304
Lowest Weight (2/18/2022 ) - 193.1
Current Weight (5/4/2023) - 213.8
Round Goal Weight - 213.0
5/4/23 - 213.8 - I'm back and ready to be held accountable. While I work out daily and burn over 1,000 calories, my brain uses that as an excuse to snack and snack and snack. Obviously I'm not burning off all that I'm eating. My pants are tighter, my workouts aren't as good as they should be. Writing here keeps me in check. If my numbers go up, I have to show you all. I have to step on the scale every day. This morning I did a 30 minute Peloton ride and a 20 minute yoga. Tonight I'll walk the pups, get a quick strength class in and more yoga.
5/5/23 - 211.0 - I sweat a lot this morning so this makes sense. I always weigh in post-workout so numbers will always fluctuate a bit but a tough ride + leg day is going to produce more sweat than yoga yesterday. A few times yesterday I went to grab something to snack on but knowing I'd have to post here made me stop. If I can get under 200 by my daughters birthday (7/31), I'll take that as a temporary win. I'm going to try to not drink tonight... Let's see how this goes.
5/6/23 - 209.6 - Not going to count my chickens til they hatch but I’ll take 2 good days in a row. Have a fancy dinner tonight for wife’s birthday (they have an incredible warm donut sundae…). So I woke up early to get a longer ride in and some strength classes, still have to walk the dogs and cut the grass so I can fit some good food in!
5/7/23 - 213.2 - LOL this just shows the difference in working out vs not. Slept in too late and have to go to a baptism so I’ll have to workout later. Doesn’t help that last nights meal was very heavy… we will course correct!
5/8/23 - 213.2 - Same weight but that's okay. It was a busy weekend and busy weekends make for quick food choices and maybe not as much working out as I'd have liked. Woke up and did a 45 minute ride and 20 minutes of strength so I feel decent. Just have to make good food decisions today.
5/9/23 - 213.2 - Well at least I'm consistent now! Got a 30 minute Taylor Swift ride in this morning in honor of seeing her this weekend! Then did 30 minutes of strength. Goal today is to drink a ton of water and stay focused on good food decisions. It's so easy to snack when I get home and I have to stop that.
5/10/23 - 212.0 - Some movement this morning. I feel like I'm doing a much better job with food since writing here. The psychological effect of being held accountable is real. Another 30 minute Taylor Swift ride this morning and then a Taylor strength class. The excitement is building daily! We started HelloFresh meals and I'm picking the healthiest options, so hopefully that helps at night.
5/11/23 - 211.8 - A good note to end the round on! Tomorrow is going to be interesting... I'll wake up early and wake up but a day of tailgating and then dancing all night. Will make Saturday's weigh in interesting.6 -
RND 222
HW: 175
SW this round 161.2
Goals This round: It's gonna be a busy week. Gym 3 times at least. Extra steps wherever possible. Prioritize water and sleep.
5/2 DNW
5/3 161. 6
5/4 162.6 UGH. Wrong direction wrong direction. It's stress, poor sleep, not enough water more stress, and lack of time to exercise. Eating has been fine, and possibly even not enough. But I am super stressed, bloated, and icky feeling. This might not be the round I see 150s after all, which will be pretty disappointing.
5/5 161.8
5/6 DNW
5/7 159.4 Pretty ecstatic that I am finally hitting this on a day after the absolute busiest, most stressful week I have had in a long time. I didn't fit in exercise other than tons of steps naturally through my busy-ness. But I planned my food as best as possible and prioritized myself in getting what my body needs. So happy and ready to keep working my way down the 150s.
5/8 159.8 Slightly up but in a totally normal way. Don't think I will make it to the gym much in these extremely busy next few weeks but hope to continue focusing on food and getting more walks in.
5/9 160.8 I had an early dinner yesterday and then was starving at 9pm, so I ate again. I had the calories left, but rice, dumplings and soy sauce (carbs and salt) are definitely the culprit of this little blip up. Not worried.
5/10 159.6
5/11 159.8 I don't love when I end a round with a higher number than somewhere in the middle of the round, but at least it means my body is headed in that direction and I'm probably just dealing with water or salt. Any loss is a win.
Total lost this round: 1.4 lbs

5/2: 131.6 - Lots of carbs yesterday. Good workouts and so-so sleep.
5/3: 131.6 - Heading out today for our backpacking trip, which will hopefully stop me from snacking as much, particularly after dinner. Yesterday was okay, less carb-heavy than the day before.
5/4: - DNW - Backpacking
5/5: - DNW - Backpacking
5/6: 132.1 - A little under 25 miles of backpacking over 3 days. High calorie/salty meals to go along with it but under calories. Back home and back to normal workouts and eating.
5/7: 131.0 - That’s a little more like it. Had a good workout, and ate well within my calorie goals despite all the baking I did (waaaay too many leftover bananas that needed using up).
5/8: 130.7 - Got my workouts in, ate well and slept so-so.
5/9: 129.9 - Hmm, not sure why the drop. Normal workouts, eating and sleep.
5/10: 129.2 - Ate under calories because was having slight tummy ache last night. Got my workouts in and so-so sleep.
5/11: 130.5 - Good workout, ate well, slept well.

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 6 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

5/2 128.0 No access to scale after TMI
5/3 127.0 Had gluten free toast and gluten free (brown rice flour) pasta yesterday. Lots of carbs but waiting to see if my knees start to hurt. Tonight maybe Mexican restaurant with family. DGD#2 flies back to Iowa tomorrow.
5/4 128.5 Not surprised. Last night’s Mexican restaurant CHIPS followed high carb pasta from the night before. I woke up at 3:12AM and couldn’t get back to sleep. DGD leaves at noon.
5/5 128.0 DGD finally got home about 1:30AM Iowa time. Delayed flight from LAS to DEN caused her to miss connection and she had to wait several hours for the (rebooked) new flight which was also late. Then an hour drive to her home after waiting for her suitcase. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
*** A word to anyone flying in/out of Las Vegas. Apparently they are working on a runway until late July and this is causing delays on arrivals and departures.

5/10 127.5 I didn’t sleep worth a darn last night, my right shoulder is killing me and I can’t get it comfortable. Going to WF this morning and school after. I have a couple of projects I need to do at home today also.

05/08 -193.4- (Trend weight 193.2) It was a quiet day yesterday. I was exhausted after DGS left yesterday. 3 days of babysitting including overnights was tough on this old gal. I ate a bit too much at lunch yesterday with my daughter but I made up for much of it the rest of the day. No exercise. Layed on the couch most of the day trying to get my gumption back after minding my grandson! Much to do today!
05/09 -194.2- (Trend weight 193.3) I travel today for my 4 month dental cleanings for myself and son. We’ll have a late restaurant lunch and do some shopping while out of town. I’ll try to choose carefully. Tomorrow is an art gallery and concert at the high school my grandchildren attend. I’ll be spending the evening with them. So many foodie things this week! No TMI yesterday or this morning. Otherwise a good day yesterday. I went to the school to walk with my son (like mall walking but no mall here). I ate within my budget.
05/10 -195.1- (Trend weight 193.6) My 63rd Birthday! Much planned over the next couple of days.

Day, Weight, Comment
5/02 - 200.6
5/03 - 200.8 Not very happy with the last two days. A lot of depression going on. Found out Sunday that my youngest DD had a miscarriage. Very hard to have another loss after DH died Mar.9.
5/04 - 201.6 I’m rather surprised at this. Oh well, I will keep trying. Traveling today and tomorrow, going back to our previous home (we moved two years ago). DH and I played in a community band. The band has a concert tonight and is playing a piece in honor and memory of him. Taking both daughters with me and meeting lots of friends there. It will be an emotional trip.

5/08 - 200.8 coming back down
5/09 - 201.4
5/10 - 201.8 I’ve been making poor choices lately and continue to not sleep well.

No TMI yesterday or this morning. Otherwise a good day yesterday. I went to the school to walk with my son (like mall walking but no mall here). I ate within my budget.

Round 222!
I’m Amanda, 5’2” from Virginia
RGW: 122 (high end of maintenance range)
Non-scale goals:
⏱️ Intermittent fast >16 hours 7/10 days
💪🏻 Intentional exercise 7/10 days
✏️ track food 6/10 days
RSW: 123.6 (5/1)
5/2 - 123.2. 💪🏻✏️⏱️This week is so exciting! First, I love it when a round starts close to the beginning of the month, feels like a fresh start! Then I found out yesterday that my new cargo ebike has arrived at the bike shop and just needs to be assembled. And Thursday we close on the sale of our rental property and hopefully get our counters installed! Super exciting all around 😊 Trying not to get my expectations too high on any front but it’s hard not to!
5/3 - 123. 💪🏻✏️⏱️ My bike was ready yesterday! I jog/walked 4 miles-ish to the bike shop to pick it up yesterday afternoon. Riding it is a little tricky but I know I’ll get the hang of it. It’s awesome! On the negative side, the 2 year old popped a fever this morning which leads to a huge work/home life disruption. Thankfully I completed a big task at work yesterday so I can probably get by with minimal brain work today. My workout plans for the day are essentially out the window since any break I get from the kid will have to be for work. My mom is not able to come help because she has a hair cut and color tomorrow…which I find a little hard to comprehend but whatever. Priorities are priorities I guess.
5/4 - 123.6 💪🏻✏️⏱️ ugh. I think I actually did okay on calories yesterday based on what I tracked, but all of my food was from restaurants, so probably retaining some water and possibly underestimating. We were in survival mode with the 2 year old home and having to work. Thankfully his fever was super brief so he's back at daycare today! I don't have to be so salty toward my mom now, hehe. I did my first daycare pickup on my new ebike yesterday and it was really fun. I'm not sure how much of a workout it is, but that is highly adjustable, just requires me to actively reduce the e-assist. I'm struggling with parking/the weight of it but hopefully that comes together because everything else is great. I have 30 days to change my mind. We closed on the rental property this morning, and the counters for our kitchen remodel seem to actually be coming this afternoon. Sorry for rambling on but it really feels like everything is coming together right now. I managed to squeeze in a 20-minute Peloton ride during DS's nap time and hope to do a little more today. Definitely going to walk my poor neglected dogs today now that the weather has improved.
5/5 - 122.4! I did a longer fast yesterday that seems to have paid off. I still consumed a lot of calories. We were in a celebratory mood and drank too much, so some of this nice loss could be dehydration. I also just overindulged while trying to quell the slight hangover that is affecting my brain and body. Not my proudest Friday morning. Looking forward to the weekend, though!
5/6 - DNW
5/7 - DNW
5/8 - 💪🏻✏️⏱️ 125.4, ugh. Not even remotely surprised. Kicked off the weekend with unlimited pizza/wings/breadsticks and continued eating and drinking like the world was ending. Had Mexican for lunch yesterday so I know some of this is water but I feel really gross. Feeling unmotivated and overwhelmed in general. Think I'm going to get outside with the dogs after my 2pm meeting to get some vitamin D and a little movement. I really need to get my head right. I'm traveling for work for all of next week, then the following week I'm on vacation starting on Wednesday. My husband is having a party for some of his students tomorrow evening and I feel like I need to do a million things before people come to our house, but I can't seem to get started on that or work or being a healthier human. It's only 1:40 here and I've already had 942 calories, zero of them from a fruit or vegetable. Confessing here in hopes of doing better!
5/9 - 124.4, there went a pound of water anyway! I'll do better drinking water today in hopes of flushing my system out. We're having a big barbecue for my husband's college students today. I'm making some delicious crockpot mac & cheese, quinoa salad, and a spinach & strawberry salad to go with my husband's barbecue chicken. We just got an induction stove yesterday, and we don't have any saucepans to go with it yet, so I'm putting my instant pot to good use for the macaroni and the quinoa (can recommend for quinoa, the pasta turned into a big disk in the bottom of the liner). DH cleaned for hours last night while I put the kids to bed so I can tell he's wanting to make it look like functional adults live here. It's stressing me out, but I'm sure we can pull off the illusion, at least if we close the bedroom doors. I already blew my fast for today because I'm also making brownies and couldn't resist tasting the batter!
5/10 - 123.2. At least I'm back where I was at the beginning of the challenge...but still over a pound above the high end of my maintenance range. I really have to crank on work today since yesterday I was so focused on party prep! The ability to work and prep at the "same time" is one of the advantages and pitfalls of working from home. Unfortunately, DS has a check-up so I'll be a little sidetracked by that, not sure if I'll get a chance to work out at all. I didn't update here but the ebike that I was so excited about last week ended up not working out. I returned it and ordered a much cheaper ebike that is due to arrive today. Fingers crossed it works out for me and the boys!
5/11 - 123.6. Very unsuccessful round for me. Gotta dig in a little more if I'm going to live in the maintenance range I established. See everyone in the next one!5 -

I was less excited. Lipid panel was less than stellar. This year, I have been losing weight with CICO, and no consideration for macros. In contrast, in 2021, I had a lot higher volume of fruits and vegetables in my diet. Bummer. I was hoping to see that body weight and exercise was my cholesterol control.
Cholesterol:
have you heard of Forks Over Knives diet?
My cholesterol has always been high ~250-325,
with high HDL and low triglycerides.
I used to run a lot/eat low calories/tried a bunch of stuff to try to lower my cholesterol without drugs, without much success, only going down 5-15 points, while killing myself.
Then last year, I tried FoK for 5.5weeks DILIGENTLY, no cheating.
And my cholesterol went down by ?90 points to 191. I've never been under 200 without the aid of drugs.
FoK is all about the vegetables and fruit.
It's basically vegan (no meat/dairy) but the kicker is no oil/sugar/salt.
wow! Vegan, with no oil/sugar/salt. How do they cook the vegetables?
While running around today, I've been listening to podcasts on the subject of lipid panel numbers. From what I was hearing, I'm not sure why all those numbers are even thrown at us. Sounds like only certain ones have much meaning. I'll write a post a little later, when I have more free time AND finish listening to the latest podcast. I may have to rewind a bunch. Are you still doing FoK?1 -
@SModa61 My LDL has always been just over 200. The doctor asked about 2 years ago if I wanted to take a low dose med and I declined. The last time, last month, it is still over 200 but he said my HDL is high so not to worry about the LDL. WTH?!? I wonder if any of them have any idea what they’re talking about. My opinion only.1

- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

wow! Vegan, with no oil/sugar/salt. How do they cook the vegetables?
Are you still doing FoK?
You can high-heat stir-fry, add a bit of water/veggie-stock to unstick it, and continue cooking.
It was really difficult, since my husband and 2 kids don't generally like vegetables, let alone it be the main food, so no, I'm not on FoK still.
My dilemma is:
- to be skinny/heart-unhealthy or
- to be plump/but heart healthy
Because I am very reactive/addicted to carbs/starches.
So in order for me to lose weight, my diet is completely OPPOSITE of FoK.
Without carbs, I'm not hungry and I don't have any cravings.
My goal is to get down to my goal weight,
and then add back in more and more veggies, but still low on fruits/starches/carbs.

I am about 12 kg along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.

Always welcome new friends
I am back to 173.0 - I've lost these 3 lbs about 5 times now, so now that I got that out of my system, the goal is to break out to the other side and get away from them for good! 160's I'm coming!!!
Goals: 100+oz water a day, 8k-10k steps a day, cardio 5x a week, strength 3x a week
5.2.2023 - 173.0 - Heading to the gym tonight. Started a new gym and I'm loving it! Plus I'm only paying half of what the old gym costs and this gym has way more. Win, win! Let's knock out these next 10 days!
5.3.2023 - 174.2 - well I ate too much last night, so there’s that. Ugh 😩 I couldn’t stop. But today has been better so far. It’s the evening time that gets me. Heading to the gym soon.
5.4.2023 -173.8 - Last night was strength training and cardio at the gym. I was super sluggish, but finished. Should have done more. I don’t feel so sluggish today and I know it was from the pizza carbs. Staying on track so far today. Let’s see a lower # tomorrow!
5.5.2023 - 173.2 ⬇️ - My teenage son & gym partner is staying with friends tonight. I almost talked myself out of going. But I AM GOING! I owe it to myself to not stop now. I usually take the weekend off, but this new gym is open 24 hrs, which I need. Tonight is strength & cardio. I will meet my goal of 5 days cardio & 3 days strength 😊 Also, I was able to actually run a mile last night! I was proud of myself. It took me 13:32 but I did it! I DID IT🎉 I know that time isn’t impressive but to me, it’s amazing. I’m 45 and I bet grade school was the last time I actively ran. On to the gym!
And THANK YOU beautiful people for being so supportive to me and the others here ♥️
5.6.2023 - 173.6 ⬆️ - not too bad, but surprising. I went to the gym solo as planned last night and did my complete workout and I’m so glad I went! I need to push down the thoughts of “being too tired to go”
5.7.2023 - 172.6 ⬇️ YAY!!! I didn’t go to the gym yesterday as I normally skip Saturday to do my errands. Hit up some yard sales and scored a brand new rebounder for $50! WIN!!! I also went to an auction and scored my husband a highway landmark sign for the musician’s hall of fame. He was stoked! We visited the in-laws and then had an impromptu date of bowling. It was a really good Saturday.
5.8.2023 - 173.0 ⬆️ No gym last night but that’s ok. I stuck to my goals and planned meals. So I did good. This increase is small so that’s good. Normally we go out for breakfast on Sunday morning and I believe that has been part of this plateau issue bc Monday morning is usually more than a lb up. We will see how this plays out. Gym tonight with my son.
5.9.2023 - 173.0 🟰 Did cardio & strength at the gym last night and just cardio tonight. I recently purchased a workout/food log book and it helps keep me on track better. MFP works, but having the pages to flip back and forth in my hands helps me see where I’m at. Maybe I’ve just gotten bored with logging in MFP. Idk. I still do though, but usually at the end of the day. This way I know I’m not forgetting something.
5.10.2023 - ⬇️ 171.6 🎉 Nice!!! But I don’t want to get my hopes up that possibly this plateau is starting to budge. Really enjoying the new gym. I have cardio & strength tonight. I use Apple fitness + on the treadmill, rowing machine, and cycling. I like that it makes the time go by faster.😊
5.11.2023 - ⬆️ 172.4 I can handle that, not a full lb. Ate Mexican yesterday - veggie fajitas but I know the sodium was high. Gym tonight!
5.12.2023 - ⬇️ 170.6 😳 Nice! I drank tons of h20 so hopefully that did the trick! My lowest weight to date since I started in Feb ‘22! YAY! 🎉 strength & cardio at the gym tonight. I also sat in the sauna for about 10 minutes. I did eat 2 squares of pizza for dinner - I’m hoping that doesn’t screw me. Downing some more water!1 -

5/2 - 239.8 lbs
5/3 - 241.2 lbs
5/4 - DNW
5/5 - DNW Having some emotional issues IRL related to my relationship that shut me down. Will get back on track. I even worked out for 72 min to get some of my emotions regulated a bit and make me too tired to be emotional. 😅
5/6 - 243.2 lbs ❤️🩹😒 I knew this weigh-in would be bad. Ugh. I overdid it for sure with junk and I can’t believe how easily I succumbed to it. GEESH! I plan to go back to my new-ish habit where I have an alarm set for every two hours and I do some sort of movement or exercise for 10 min at least each time my alarm goes off. I am going to try to do this every day and see what happens. I need to get back to my food & fitness journaling —which I like bc it keeps me really accountable to myself and helps me track the different tactics or new ways of being I implement to promote a healthier way of eating and being.
5/7 - 239.0 lbs 🥰🤩🫢 Well Holly I see my weird weight loss & gain trend is still in effect. It’s like my body gets down to a certain weight, then my mind is like “hold up, no no, this b*tch is trying to starve us then it does something hormonally triggering an uptick in weight that can only hold a short bit/few days, then it drops back to that lower weight, then descends again. 🤫🤔🤥. I know I just made up a story, but it sounded interesting anyway! Back to healthy eating habits past few days. Had to skip dinner in some instances so I could hit my fast start time as scheduled. I have found that out of all my revolutionized new ways of eating & doing fitness on this journey sticking strictly to my fast schedule has been a SIGNIFICANT determining factor in how well I do with this journey. I plan to workout today. I took a break yesterday because I had a twinge of some discomfort in my back and with two herniated discs I don’t want to hurt myself to the point where I can’t workout at all for several months —which has happened when I overdo it in the past. 🫤
5/8 - 238.0 lbs 😏 Experiencing pain in my upper right side of my back —probably from overdoing it during my last workout when I know I was overdoing it while experiencing stress & being upset by relationship crap so that is what I get. I will take it easy again today and maybe try some Pilates from some apps that I got recently and/or some extensive stretching session.
