I remember the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 on 2 June 1953. I was 7 years old.
We were squeezed into the parlour of the only neighbour in my Nana’s street who had a huge cabinet TV with a tiny screen. As one of the younger girls, I was right in front of the screen.
It was much more impressive when I saw it in colour at the Saturday matinee at our local cinema a week or so later.
The coverage has already started on TV. I am watching the style of the guests arriving at the Abbey.

Yes ... it's just about the only thing on here so we've watched a bit.
It looks like the King's Procession begins at 7:30 pm here.

I quite enjoyed the ceremony ... we watched the whole thing and there were no commercial breaks.
They're doing the post ceremony part now.
Watching history!

Covered in gold leaf and apparently quite heavy. It was, I believe, built in the 1800s.
I love the history.

But according to this article, stress can raise a persons cholesterol level and other articles indicate that stress can raise a person's blood pressure too. I didn't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol before my husband's accident. But I've had it ever since.

Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
Barbie, I just love that you're a lot like me in wearing almost the same thing daily. I too have multiple pairs of black denim jeans that I wear with different LLR tops. That's my only difference. I bought two different styles several years ago, that I loved, and that's what I change daily. I have enough to go through three weeks without repeating. LOL. Cold and drizzly here today too! YUCK!
Kim, what about a Swiffer duster? It doesn't have to be perfect, just have her dust around your table-top items. Maybe a rag and some cleaner for the sink and counter in the bathroom. Like Karen said, I'd love to have your mom for a couple hours to sort through a boatload of my old scrapbooking stuff or all the "crap" in the various rooms in my house. Sorry we're so far away.
6. Look for people doing good and reasons to be cheerful... working in a school building, this is something we always have to be mindful of!

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
The talk of the gold coronation coach reminded me of my Air Force postings. My first tour of duty was to the UK, in Suffolk, for a three-year tour. Charles and Diana married while we were there. They then assigned my husband (with me tagging along as a dependent) for another three-year assignment near Newbury about six years later.
I was a bit of an Anglophile anyway, so it was a wonderful time, and I came away from it with that peculiarly American awe of age. Without arguing too much about what constitutes American history, effectively we have just 250 to 300 years--so to walk in a building that was built with human hands and was literally 2,000 years old, it was just awe-inspiring.
Still is, really.
Love y'all,

We have watched none of the coronation and will see bits of it on tonight's news.
We spent the afternoon, because it was raining, doing some painting of each other to mark our anniversary! I found a technique on Instagram, using cellophane, so I had a go at that. Quite pleased with the way it came out!
The first is a photo I took of DH today, and the second is the cellophane picture.
DH took this pic of me today.
He tried to do a conventional drawing, but it's really difficult!
Anyway, we had great fun.

Karen - you can have my mom for as long as you want! All who suggested the swiffer thanks! I had not thought of that.
As for crafts, she believes (at 94 years old) that crafts are only for after you have worked at least 6 hours, because I don't have enough work she is not "allowed" to do recreation aka crafts.
She has the weirdest rules for herself and all of us - a very judgmental person- I am understanding why I have never "measured up" I am willing to take a play day, or leave something for tomorrow. Because I live in a small place and am by nature tidy and organized I don't have much for her to sort.
But I do have a few winter wool socks that need to be darned, I'll see if she wants to do that. I wish I had brought her old singer sewing machine she might be able to do some sewing for me, but my all electronic machine is too much for her.

Morning ladies, another rough night sleeping for me..
Woke up at 5 to watch the Corination but was to tired, fell back asleep and woke up around 7:15 to see them walking out of Westminster Abbey.
High supposed to be 74 today ,and look who is enjoying the outdoors2 -
Machka-I also like the style of dresses on the web link you provided. Too bad that store isn't in US!
Didn't watch any of coronation because I was out running around doing shopping, etc. Plus-I am not a big Charles fan. I think I would have more interest if William was in. Of course, I was not consulted!
Lisa-I totally understand the history thing-we just do not have that in this country. I went to Greece many years ago and was in awe standing at the Acropolis and thinking that Socrates and Plato and Aristotle had walked there.
Good luck to all who are trying different coping skills. All I know is different things work for me at different times. Now I am focusing on meditation. I am also checking out healing crystals. Don't know exactly what I think about it yet, but I figure if it helps me feel better there is no real harm.
Need to get some things done before going to YS and DIL.
Take care all,

Hello again...
Regarding my own curiosity about folks' sartorial choices, I realized I didn't mention that the tops I buy are, when I can get them, jewel colors. I love saturated color, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to find t-shirts in jewel colors. I also tend toward the darker colors like navy, etc., in winter, and bright colors for spring and summer.
Heather - Love your home gallery, and as always, marvel at what you're accomplishing along with Johnnie and the grands. I would have loved to have a grandmother like you!
Corey's off to do the oil change and grocery shopping... and I'm hoping to get the pain in enough control that I can get in the shower and get scrubbed before he comes back. It's beginning to work, but will be a bit yet.
Am hearing biking groups go by on the main highway that's not too far from the house. We seldom hear that traffic, but the Harley-Davidson bikes are LOUD. There has to have been a dozen groups go by--the main highway is a route to a national park, and it's supposed to get up to nearly 90 this afternoon. The first truly warm day of the spring is bringing everybody out of the woodwork, apparently.
Later, y'all,

Rita the latest summit on Pet Summit was about our energy and our dogs energy and how they are connected. Your stress meter is off the charts. Much of what you described you have no control over. What I learned in the summit is what you do have control over is what you do to respond to that stress. One suggestion like Barbie suggests is start with a gratitude journal. I know it is hard when you are in the middle of what you are going through. Take moments to just breathe in the beauty of the nature that surrounds you and breath out all those things you cannot control.
In that heat is there a place with AC you can visit. Picture yourself calmly driving in your borrowed vehicle reaching your destination. Parking in a place where you know it will not get scratched. Go to the movie, shopping mall, whatever you will enjoy and give yourself at least a 2-3 hour break.
There is a Bach Flower essence called Rescue Remedy to give to dogs and people during times of trauma. Not all people or dogs react the same to it. It is given to dogs to help them with Fireworks. You have a few of those going on in your life. Rita Hogan was the expert they interviewed about Bach remedies. She said it is not like taking pharma meds. You take as needed. In some cases it can be much more frequent than meds you take. So the Bach Flower essences might help you and your chihuahua. Also with Bach remedies it is good to start taking them before the stressor hits. So if you know something is coming start taking it a day or two before. If you are already in the stress it can take the edge off to help give your nervous system support.
DH sounds like he is having a hard time too so best to help yourself now. He will have to take care of himself.
For your son encourage him to reach out for help. There are other jobs but only one him. He is more important than any job.
Tell him you are working on your own struggles. Tell him about the things you are doing to improve your life and what is working and what is not. Ask he the same. What has worked for him to help his mental health.
I gave you more ideas than you asked for. If any of them help use them if they don't put them in the I tried drawer and move on.
I believe in you Rita you will find what works for you. You are not alone in your struggles. Here for you!
Thank you for the advice. I am doing most of these already except for the Bach Flower which may interfere with the prescriptions I’m already taking. I have a gratitude journal that I write 3 good things that happen each day in, along with anything else I want to journal. It helps to think back on the day and find 3 things, no matter how small that were good.

Ah, my minor mystery is solved--the Steel Horse Rally is being held in Fort Smith - the larger city that's about a half hour from us. They shut the main downtown down to car traffic. Vicki - Aren't you the one who rides motorcycles with your husband? I know one of us does. Apparently there were 75,000 bikes last year and more than 100,000 people attended. They do generate a lot of funding for local charities.
Just started the air conditioner, first time this year. It was up to 81 in the house, and I do not like being sweaty unless it's my idea. The other day, my daughter and I discussed the fact that the men in our lives have turned us into spoiled princesses. I've decided I'm really OK with that. Better late than never. She, on the other hand, is just boggled at living with a man who loves her and wants to make sure her life is as good as he can get it. She married two different men before who treated her badly, were zero help at home, and made her doubt herself, and her new husband treats her completely differently. Fun to listen to her bubble over with happiness. I hope it continues for her.
Reading, as usual. Hugs for those who need them.
Later, y'all,

Lovely day so far.
Won't be watching the coronation. Definitely not.
It's raining and miserable out there. I do feel sorry for the crowds.
This morning we prepared the parmesan croutons for the chicken caesar salad. They smell heavenly. I also put the chicken breast skin in to crisp up.
Lunch is caviar (faux) sour cream and blinis.
I think this afternoon might turn out to be a painting session. I was thinking a stroll by the sea and a beer might be nice, but it's truly damp out there.
Rebecca - This is the srea in the dining room where we display our latest efforts, usually for a week or two. It cheers my heart every time I look at it.
The dog is Bea's and she's gradually covering it in brown tissue paper. He's called Snuffles.
So all good here. Poor Max was meant to have a beach party today for his 12th birthday. Don't know what they are doing instead. He is coming here on Monday (another Bank Holiday for the coronation)and we will take him out for a birthday lunch. His present, a video game, has been pre-ordered, and will arrive on the 12th.

So today I went thru my side of the patry, getting rid of things. First was items to make sweet things. Things like Karo syrup. I got rid of recipes and my big old cook book.
Next will be stuff in the freezer.

Tomorrow the Choir I am in at The Grove in Woodbury is performing our spring concert if interested in listening to it. We perform at 9-10 central standard time. Go to the The Grove in Woodbury at 9 on Facebook or youtube. Hope you enjoy it.
We practice this morning from 9-11:30. We are singing some pieces with the bell choir and have an oboe to accompany us when we sing The Lord is my Shepherd the John Rutter version. Love our choir director!
A rainy afternoon so I listened to a talk on how to massage your dog. I practiced on her as I listened. She seemed to enjoy it. Relaxes me too.5 -

Rebecca-I think deleting the old was healthy. You are cleaning things up. That way when he does contact you, you will be starting new.
Had good visit with son and DIL. They are doing well, given the situation.Still waiting on autopsy. It appears he did fall in the shower, was able to make it to his bed and perhaps passed out again and literally bled out. Don't know about internal injuries, etc., or time of death. Luckily DIL called her brother to enter apartment with her when there was no response. Her brother made her stay in living room while he investigated. He would not let her go to the room to see her father. I think he was being very mindful of the baby and wanting to cut down on her shock.
Regarding the clothing poll_I have too many clothes. Of course, I still have a four season work wardrobe. I do like wearing jeans. I also have three pairs of Lands End yoga pants (I thing they will be my retirement go to). I like reds, purples, coral. I had dark brown hair, it turned darker on its way to gray. I am not yet completely gray and I think those colors look good on me. I will try all sorts of patterns and colors for tops but prefer solid color pants.
Off to relax.
Take care all,

Allie - it sure is a shame Kyle can’t do the hard stuff of parenting too. If I were in Tracy’s shoes I don’t think I would be as accommodating. He’ll learn soon how hard it is if she becomes sick from lack of sleep. I feel so bad for her that she doesn’t have a supportive partner.
Machka - I am calling employment standards on Monday.
Heather - I recorded the coronation. My grandmother talked for years about watching the Queen’s, so I thought I should watch the King’s. I’ll probably skip through most of it though.
Ginny - I have sick time, some vacation time and if necessary would have EI as well. I am hoping to just get another job, that would be the easiest solution.
So sorry for your DIL, what a shock that would be.
Heather - the pottery and painting are beautiful.
Rita - hugs you have a lot going on. It’s good that you are able to have a therapist to talk to.
Lisa - I like those shows for some mindless tv too. Those and home decorating ones.
I have been trying to be more adventurous with my clothes. I only have solid colour bottoms and have added some floral shirts lately. Normally though it’s all neutral mix and match.
I bought a couple of dresses last year and actually wore them. I very rarely wear jeans I think my problem is I find them too stiff.
Annie - barefoot is best! My daughter texted me in the Fall last year and said, “you broke my baby”. Apparently, Michaela had told her that she didn’t need socks and shoes because “Grammie, has bare feet all the time and I want to be like Grammie. Socks feel funny.”
Michaela and I are both excited it’s Spring.
Kim - does your Mom do other crafts besides scrapbooking? Would she like to do some painted plant pots or something? I have saved a couple ideas that just used terra cotta pots from the dollar store.
Beth - I admire that you and your DH can do siding together. DH and I do best if we work on projects separately. We can get through it, but it’s not a pleasant experience for either of us.
Please send rain this way! Alberta is having devastating fires again. They just announced that the province is under a State of Emergency.
Mary - your grandchildren are cute.
It’s been a busy couple of days. Yesterday I was written up for insubordination, I refused to give my password out for one of our financial programs. I wasn’t willing to let someone else use my information and then me be blamed if something went wrong.
When I got home and told DH he told me to call my doctor for sick leave on Monday. I want to make the call to Employment standards first.
But I do believe this week I will be going on sick leave.
I did receive an email from the airline asking me to complete some pre screening questions. I did that today. I’m praying that this pans out.
I’m just tired from all of the stress.
Last night I went out for supper and then to the Shania Twain concert with a friend.
It was a good evening. Today I was prepared to be lazy, but received a text from our daughter asking what time I was picking out GD up to go yo ceramics.
I had forgotten we were doing that today and that she was coming here for a sleepover tonight. So I went and picked her up and we are now watching Red Panda, I actually enjoy this movie.
Tomorrow we have a couple of small crafts to make and then I’ll take her home.

Where do I begin? Been trying to do things around the house. Got the pool pretty clear now. Been trying to go for a walk every night at least after dinner. Was pretty cold but it’s starting to warm up. Had lunch the other day with a gal who used to work at BK. To be honest, I don’t think she’s very happy in her new job. But she does like the higher pay. I think if BK was to pay her the same amount (which will never happen), she’d come back to BK.
Tracey – glad the retrieval went so good
Made chicken last night to have during the week. Made chocolate chip cookies the other day for Vince. Hope to make pork chops for during the week and the freezer either tonight or tomorrow. Would like to make some soup for the freezer
Also inflated my raft for the pool (I want to be ready). Vince put up the new handrail in the garage, made a new planter to cover an outlet (I think he’s doing little things right now), got the cantilever umbrella out by the pool
Rori – always good to hear from you, but not so good to hear of your fall. Thank god nothing was broken! Heal fast
Cleaned the furniture on the porch. Boy, did we have a lot of pollen this year. No wonder so many times my eyes were tearing. Wash and waxed my car the other day. Not bowling this summer. The league is going no tap and I don’t like no tap. The Wednesday league...well, last year I did not enjoy it one bit and with Vince not bowling at all, I swore last summer that I wouldn’t go on this league again. Still volunteering at the soup kitchen. Still trying to at least take a walk around the block on the days when I’m not working. Speaking of not working….the plan for tomorrow is to do a Denise Austin Power Zone Toning Workout and then a 30 Minute Express Above the Belt DVD. Making pork chops right now.
KJ – so you don’t need any starter for your yogurt? Thanks for telling me.
Heather – hope you heal quickly and that the cast comes off before your cruise
Barbara – I think the battery was low on my pedometer. I changed it, and now I don’t have any problem. Even tho it wasn’t displaying low battery, I think it may have been on the way out. So right now, no problem
Healing thoughts to everyone who needs them
Rebecca – prayers for you and Lee
Lisa – thanks for the smile. I can just see you on the couch. Those Muddy Bites sound SOOO good. I’m definitely having to look for them. Where do you buy them?
Destiny is so brave. Hugs to her
Kim – glad your mother “straightened up”. Do you have to be “ordained?” What an honor!
Got a pair of pants from Amazon. It’s so hard finding something in gray that isn’t so dark it’s almost black. Anyway, I usually take a 10P but this was a regular 10 so I wasn’t sure how it would fit. It fit and I was going to keep it than I noticed that it was ripped so now I have to send it back.
Allie – when my kids were teens, I used to lock myself in the bathroom at times because I swear I’d kill them otherwise. I had a book called “get out of my life but first would you drive me and Cheryl to the mall”. One thing it said, and this is so true, that the more they pull away, the more they come back. So sorry about your cruise plans getting messed up. You know, what Tracey is putting up with Kyle reminds me of what you put up with Tom
Rita – hugs
Didn’t see any of the coronation – too busy
I tend to wear dark clothes on the bottom and light things on the top since I’m small on top.
Bought a new set of sheets for the condo today. I’m just tired of the ones that are there in the guest room. $50 and I got 75% off plus an add’l $5 because I made a donation to some charity, plus a gift certificate I had, I wound up paying $19.
Better go take a shower and then get to bed.
Thinking of you all all the time

Machka-I also like the style of dresses on the web link you provided. Too bad that store isn't in US!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
As I was preparing for a move "up the ladder" a couple years ago, and as I've now started to do that, I knew I had dress the part.
Here, we tend to dress up in the office.
So I went around to a whole bunch of places and tried on clothes. Lots of places had nice dresses, but when I put them on, they just didn't work for me. I have an hourglass figure, so one style of dress that looks great on the rack but looks awful on me are sheath dresses. I look like I'm about to give birth when I wear them.
But a lot of the Jacquie dresses have a waist in them and are built for the hourglass figure. Plus the ones I have are comfortable too which really helps. I can wear them for 9 hours and feel good in them.
https://jacquie.jgl.com.au/shop/je-womens-dresses-all
Now I'm trying to work on the shoe situation.
I used to have very narrow feet but I've got quite advanced arthritis now so that the front of my feet is fairly wide but the back is very narrow.
My ankle bones are low so if the shoe has sides that run under the ankle bone, most of the time the sides will rub and cause blisters.
I need a slight heel or the back of the shoe will cause blisters.
But I can't wear a higher heel because of the arthritis.
And I need to be able to walk in the shoes!
My Hoka trail runners are my favourite shoes, but they don't really go with the dresses!
Loafers and ballet flats are horrible ... my feet blister at the thought of them.
Boots are great but I can't wear boots all the time ... too hot.
As a few others here have mentioned, I'd prefer bare feet! As soon as I'm in for the evening, I'm in bare feet.
