DC ~ I have lived my entire life in Georgia except for the 2 yrs my husband was stationed at Ft Knox Kentucky.
Born in Middle GA, went to college in N. Ga, and have lived in Marietta, GA for the last 50 yrs.

Hi all. Just curious....where is everyone from? I'm from Washington, DC, living in the heart of downtown with my 2 furry felines and the hubby of almost 20 years.
Now I live in NW Washington state---NW California before that. I live with my husband, Jake, and rescue dog Bessie. We stay close to home because of Jake's compromised immune system but we live in a peaceful neighborhood where walking is easy and there are many nice neighbors to talk to outdoors. Because of my husband's various health issues, we have to limit sodium and potassium so our food choices are limited and we read all the labels and don't eat restaurant food. I walk a lot and ride my exercise bike to keep active.

Good evening all:
Looks like everyone is perking along fairly well.
Glad cast is off Heather-you should be in good shape for your cruise. I don't blame you for buying new knickers!
Annie-I think you do better than you give yourself credit for.
Pip-your three kids just love you, what more is left to be said!
Allie-please get someone else to move things for you.
Dr. Katiebug-hope shots help with knees. Our joints just seem to wear out for some of us. Interestingly, my hips went but (so far) knees aren't as arthritic. I think it is related to being born with clubbed feet somehow.
Meeting today went well. Very pleasant actually. Go to Columbus tomorrow for the day. State budget season winding down-time for last minute arguments.
Internet privacy-lots can be found out about me due to my position. I just try to not publicize stuff about it or provide much detail-don't say anything that I would have to apologize for.
Off to my ladies' group this evening. I actually feel like I could stay home and go to bed very early-don't know why I am so tired. I did get bloodwork results for my regular doc appointment this week. Thyroid suppression going back to where it should be-I think it must have been Covid that messed with it (or perhaps the paxlovid?). Rest of blood work looks very good-sugar, cholesterol, tyglicerids all look excellent. So I guess I am in pretty good shape for an old woman!
Take care all,

Made some hard boiled eggs then some red lentils to have later in the week
Couldn't figure out why my one eye was hurting. Looked in the mirror and found out. I'm getting a sty in each of my eyes! Vince is the person who the minute something is wrong, he has to look on the internet. To me, sometimes checking the internet you get the wrong ideas. So I'm not bothering to find out "why am I getting so many stys". I had one a few weeks ago and now these two. It's probably related to something simple. Maybe I'll look it up if I get another one in the near future.

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1233 calories, a little high. And I rode my bike for twenty minutes, and did an hour of yoga, and thirty minutes of aerobic walking, Yay! For a deficit of 355, Yay! So overall a good day.

We can learn your name in time. We respect your privacy. The reason I like to see a location is to be able to identify with weather and plants. I live pretty far north so when someone shares that they already have flowers or vegetables, I like to know how far south they are. When someone says that it's too hot to take a walk, I wonder where they live. I hope you'll share what you're comfortable with and ignore the rest.

I answer to Katiebug in only three places. Here, my living debt free message board, and to a few cousins who just won’t let it go. I try to stay unsearchable by my name on this board since I don’t share my weight loss struggles with many people, but anybody with minimal skills could find me. If they want to go to that much trouble, I wish them well. Because of the nature of my work, anyone with my real name can find my cell phone number and my email address with a few clicks. It is what it is. I have to be reachable by the people who need me.
I love your name, it is close to my very favorite nickname for my son. Jonabug. Still call him that and he is 25
Since I am older and wiser, I have come to love and appreciate the nickname. When I was a child I did not realize that adding bug to your name was pretty common as a sign of affection. All I knew was that my sister was “Vickie Doll” and I was “Katie Bug” i hated that my sister got to be a doll while I was a bug. Interestingly enough, in my father’s last months, he started calling me Katiebug again. He had not done so since I was a child. It was comforting.
The night our youngest was born, she slept with her bum in up in the air, my DH started calling her bug then and that’s all he still calls her. She is 32. Our Grands call her Auntie Bug. Her husband is Uncle Buddy because our grandson called him that instead of Brodey.

7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good. Line dance class.
Strength training question. Last month 5 lbs was too easy for curls and upward row so went to 8 lbs. Now instead of it getting easier over time it’s getting harder. Seems like I’m getting weaker instead of stronger. Any ideas? Seems like I’m coming down with ANOTHER cold, maybe that’s it? Really must go back to wearing a mask at the grocery store, post office, etc. 2 colds in 3 months, sheesh!
Welcome @tinselart1! It helps to find an activity that you enjoy, whether it’s walking, swimming, dancing, horseback riding, pickleball, etc etc etc. Good luck!
Machka that bus trip was one for the books.
Rhonda thanks for the gorgeous pics.
Joy praying the fires and wind abate and your DS is safe.
Beth, Hooray for better food choices!
Heather sorry to hear about your thigh but grateful for your good Samaritain, and glad your cast is off. What a relief to scratch
Debbie thanks. Admire your ricotta creativity!
Vicki fingers X’d the posting is filled sooner than expected.
Michele good idea for Debbie’s “extra” goodies.
Ginny praying your scans are favorable next month. Brava for the good blood work!
Allie “…I'm sure my dad met him before we did..” no doubt, and shared his love of blueberries.
Rosemarie welcome home!
Kylia “time to leave my frustrations in the living room and get some sleep.” Does that mean your DH is in the living room?
Carla that sounds like a wonderful week of memories for Hunter.
Margaret what a vivid way to teach Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring. Worth the one-time sugary snack.
Kay, has a physical therapist recommended specific exercises and stretches for you? My PT exercises have helped my knees more than I would have thought possible. What you said about clutter, as I was reading Carol and Debbie’s posts I was recognizing myself as the person whose stuff encroaches on every room of the house and garage. Poor Joe, only his man cave and bathroom are safe!
Carol sorry for your sinus headache, hope the wildfire smoke doesn’t make it that far south.
Pip those pooches know where their best interests lie
DC born in SF, lived in the Bay Area and Northern California until my job moved us to Boise Idaho for 25 years. Retired to the Oregon Coast within ten miles of the California border. DH and I have no children, just two dogs. (AHMOD=Ageing Hippie Mother of Dogs.)

Flea prayers continue with thanks for “…best possible outcome. ‘stable’” Holding good thoughts for Tuesday’s appointment.
Betsy say hello to Twin for me!
Tracey I hate it when I do that. Look forward to your post tomorrow.

Went out for a run this morning, but got as far as the seafront and felt a little resistance in my thigh. Decided discretion was the better part of valor , and retreated. Got back to the deli with an aching inner thigh, not a cramping one, so I did the right thing. Bought utterly beautiful tomatoes and a huge bunch of parsley. The parsley was a bargain!
So many things bring me joy and delight. I have always thought that's how everyone is, but I've just been listening to a couple of podcasts about delight, and it appears that not everyone sees the world the same way. When I go for my run I am hugely delighted by the flowers in the gardens, especially the amazing roses at the moment. The conversations I had yesterday were delightful. My new knickers and socks are wonderful! I am thrilled to have my cast off. Washing my arm today to get all the dead skin off was such a pleasure. I am thrilled with my food every day. My art surprises me. Textures, temperature, smells. I feel I am bathed in delight.
How about you? I feel I can be like this more, now that I have more time. I can notice the plucky little weed growing in the wall. I can chat to the butcher. Sometimes being older has its advantages. I have more joy in the little things.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Hi all. Just curious....where is everyone from? I'm from Washington, DC, living in the heart of downtown with my 2 furry felines and the hubby of almost 20 years.
I live on the coast of Northern Ireland, near Belfast, where I was born, Ex teacher, married for 56 years to my best friend. We have 2 daughters, and 3 adult grands.
Heather: Good to see that you are listening to your body. Like you, I take time to enjoy all the joys that each day brings. I choose to do what pleases me a lot of the time. Increased time has indeed widened and deepened my love of life.
Yesterday we were delighted with the garden our group went to visit. The scent of roses was evident everywhere. I had never seen such a profusion and variety in a private garden before.
The owner had such enthusiasm for her plants. It was a relatively small plot, but she had winding paths which were edged by a profusion of plants in every inch of space. Garden sculptures were much in evidence. I was so enthralled that I completely forgot to take any photos.
We chatted with her after the others had left, and discovered that her father was DH’s dentist, so she has invited us back anytime to wander at our leisure. We may take her up on it.
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 to whoever needs them.
Good to see so many new members.

Heather and Terri-While I don't have the extra time you do I am making myself take a bit more. Since I am an early riser I have started mediation and stretches in the morning followed by a sunrise walk (son told me it is good for melatonin levels and you sleep better-I think he is right). I only go for 20-30 minutes then come home an quickly get ready for work. On this walk I don't use head phones-i just focus on sounds and smells and sight. It does mean I have to get lunch, etc. done ahead of time but it is worth it. I may not get to work until 8 instead of 7:30 but since I rarely take a lunch hour so it's all good. And yes-we must listen to our bodies.
Flea-congratulations on stable pics. That's what I am hoping for also. Hope the rest of the testing reinforces them.
Time to get dressed for work-need to hit the road by 8.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio4 -
Good morning ladies!
Flea, stable is great news!
Heather, sounds like your thigh needs a little rest. Glad to hear about your delight, I don't feel much of that anymore. One of the downsides of antidepressants on top of a serious type of personality. Moments of worry are far too common for me, and joy is rare even when I strive for it.

p.s. 😍 Your recent coloring 😍.
There is a coloring club here. I might go once to see who is in it, but I may prefer to color as meditation rather than socialization.
Did you get my PM and did you check out the colouring club?

Hunter went home last night absolutely TUCKERED OUT! I think everyone knew his name. They all sure loved him. He even went to class with one kid (with the teacher's permission). smh.
Commencing the LAST student day of the school year... of course, they're all going to be out on field trips today. Going to be very quiet around the building today.

Last two days of travel have been wonderful days with my sister and my dog. We are talking lots and laughing. We stop often to look at all the scenic views and sometimes not so scenic views. It’s a special time together. I’m grateful we don’t have to hurry and very grateful that my sister and I will be together to spread 1/2 of Jack’s ashes in Colorado. It feels good to be in process doing Jack’s wishes.
Barbara, said hi to Twin Falls for you. What a lovely place.
Today will work our way towards Moab. Not sure how far we’ll get..

I have been enjoying coding during the first 2 days of the month. That's been really good.
Also the 25 flights of stairs a day.
2. Say positive things in your conversations with others.
Chatted with a work friend about our gardens first thing this morning.
Smiled and thanked people as usual.
BTW - thanking the bus driver at the end of a trip is a thing here.
3. Re-frame a worry and try to find a helpful way to think about it.
Where do I even start? A single worry?
There are so many worries rumbling away in the background but I try not to think about them or dwell on them.
I try to focus on the good days or even good moments.
4. Take a photo of something that brings you joy and share it.

Plus walking.
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share.
I listen to ABC Classic at work ... classical and related music. This week, the 10 am - 1 pm program has been featuring George Gershwin and I have been loving it!

Barbie: I'm stealing that music meme. I could have (maybe should have) written it. Thanks for sharing. So sorry to hear about Jake needing chemo. I am sending healing energy his way.
Machka: My DH was VERY responsive to music from his past so during the worst years of dementia, I had it on all the time. As he transitioned, the Beach Boys was playing in his room which was so apropos given he was a lifelong surfer and ocean lover.

I think it was actually more frustrating and scary for the bus driver! The bus was where it should be and I could have walked home (about 3 km) from where he asked us all for directions, but it was dark and cold and I didn't want to. However, the bus driver didn't know where he was supposed to go next.
