WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JUNE 2023

Carla--Sending prayers for Anne. That is scary, but sounds like the right thing to do.
Tracey--Pray things went well at the doctor. Are they giving you more time off? Happy Anniversary.
Allie--Sounds like the perfect birthday for you and Alfie.
Tracey & Rita-- We are doing a little better than paycheck to paycheck, but it would not take much to put us back there. That is one reason I want to work 3-4 years to get completely out of debt and have some savings built up.

Tried on my formal dress. Not a great look, (lumps and bumps) but I can get into it as it's stretchy. I'm hoping the sparkly cape will avert the eye! Not going to take the faux leather leggings. I can squeeze into them still, but I just don't feel comfortable. Hopefully next year. Most evenings are smart/casual, but there are 3 formals. I will just wear the same dress. My other formal dress was a tight squeeze last year!
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
There's always Spanx or Honey Love. I plan to use one of them this summer for an upcoming wedding. I'm not looking forward to getting dressed for that occasion.

Rita ... doesn't seem right that you're unpaid for all the work you do at the campsite!
Lisa ...I would send a card to your friend's family at this time and send something later to the family. You are right they will be inundated with things now. Offerings of sympathy that I received a few months later I had more time to appreciate ... if that makes sense.
Carla ... If he's stalking, he's not stable and if he's not stable, he shouldn't have access to firearms. He should have thought of that before he started being a jerk. Praying for your family.
Carol ... I like your new photo!
Beth near Buffalo
Thank you Beth but it a volunteer job and we can say no at any time. The problem is, the hosts couldn’t say now and Ranger took advantage of them. I say no to him all the time but my DH doesn’t. As far as leaving I would in a minute but DH has a shop (actually the park owns it) that he lives working in and has most of his tools there. So waiting on him to get fed up enough.

Just checking in ladies.👍🏼💖 Hugs for those that wish them.🤗.
I woke up with a stuffy nose, scratchy throat and phlegmy. Its the grass seed pollen, the old dust from our unpacking, wind, and sun! I am not used to being out in nature so much. I know that sounds weird...
A view from the workshed/three car garage.
The video session yesterday late afternoon went ok. The son was still driving home and said he'd be on soon, but was about 1/2 hour late. My sister had to download an app at the last minute to zoom with them. The daughter took maybe 30 pieces and the son, when he finally joined, even less. He wants to zoom again tonight because he missed about 3 out of the 8 or 9 tables there.
My sister and I are exhausted. She has been worried that somehow not letting those kids get what they deserve, its somehow not honoring their father. She has been so accommodating. We worked every day going thru boxes for about a week, and they gave her maybe a half hour of their time.
Today is a rest day.😁👍🏼

12. Write a gratitude letter to thank someone. Does Sunday’s email to R count?
13. Take a light-hearted approach. Choose to see the funny side. Good news from Joe’s new Drs. Passed EKG, colonoscopy scheduled, gout test negative. He said it was a lot of trouble to go to for something he didn’t want in the first place, but he said it with a laugh so I joined in
14. Share a happy memory with someone who means a lot to you. Messaged C about boogaboos.
Ugh! 2.5 oz of Pom wonderful has as much sugar as I put in two cups of tea. Sneaking up on sugar reduction is going to be tricky. Last night learned my favorite frozen single serving lasagna has 25 g of added sugar SMH. Joe is doing great with AF and no sugar, has lost 5 pounds in two weeks.
Trouble Monday morning with mfp on my iPhone and win10 laptop with both Waterfox and Firefox even with tracking security turned off. Later able to get in on iPhone but not laptop til late afternoon.
Rori praying you are safe from the shootings. Sad they marred the Nuggets' celebration.
Aha! @1948cwb is peachy Carol in GA with a new profile pic. I was going to welcome you and ask your preferred name and location.
Belated happy anniversary Tracey and Rodger! Thanks Tracey for understanding about nagging DH about health issues. ;}
Rebecca that annoyance energy, well done!
Heather well done on the pt exercises. They can make a huge difference. Hope Penny gets back to you soon.
Karen please be sure to share any good stories from your monthly lunches with Dr. Fierro
Flea hooray for clear bone scan. Whooshing good energy for mammo and oncologist appointment.
Allie hope the auto immune numbers point to some treatment/relief.
Lanette no doubt you’re right, but neither could you make him choose better fuel. ((hugs)) Are there friends/relatives far away with whom you could zoom or FaceTime? IMHO it would be better to set a pattern NOW to chat with someone every day, than wait til winter when you may not feel like putting forth the effort. Dog bite? IMHO as the owner of a SkyeTerrier who has not yet bitten anyone ONLY because she is always leashed whenever outside our property… Roger and his spouse need to control-not-watch the little eskimo.
Beth $4.99/lb for rhubarb? :noway:
Kay con VERY gratulations on the 8 lbs and 5 inches. That’s tremendous. Are you still “shaking the sugar”?
Tina the Cretan goat stories made me snort my water!
Rita what you said about less pain = better mood. Truth this!
Rosemarie glad you learned the truth about keeping a balance on credit cards. Paying them off WILL improve your credit score AND save you the interest. Picking strawberries is to me the definition of stoop labor :{ Sounds like your building stamina, well done!
Michele oh noo, poor Tigger
Debbie brava for adding jogging to your walking and Zumba.
Evelyn had to google Sally Ann to realize you were talking about what I’ve heard called “The Sals” here.
Machka the “…not doing laundry” meme is the story of my life  “the rest of life is very complicated” Yours certainly is. ((hugs)) Thanks for the beautiful Nordegg area pics. Gorgeous!
Ginny yours to Terri about peaceful passing. With all those painful interpersonal responsibilities I’d be eager to retire. Throw in a three meeting day and I’d be outta there
Kylia good for you for finding the “…at least it isn’t a skunk…” positive in the mouse situation.
Heather, thanks for mentioning the Gottmans. Found their website and podcasts. First tip? How to manage expectations. How apt. Strangely I feel some fear/anxiety. Joe and I don’t talk about emotional stuff and I don’t know how/would be afraid to start. Hmm need to ponder this. So glad Johnnie felt comfortable to chat/share with DDIL. Disinterested party and all.
Vicki My I can remember when my wage went from $3.25 to $3.45 an hour. I was able to live, eat and save enough money for a down payment on a brand new 1976 Toyota Corolla liftback SR5. Times have sure changed! Have the wages at your hospital kept up with the inflation rates? IMHO if a CAN elsewhere makes more an hour than you do, when you retire, (or collapse) the hospital will have to replace you with two workers, both making more than you do now. Just sayin’ ;}
Lisa one of my coworkers’s husband died, her former boss sent a ham. She was ever so grateful, something the gathered family could self-feed at need.
Rita con VERY gratulations on leaving the negative and starting to save. I’m with Barbie, writing down everything I spend helps me make better choices. I keep two spreadsheets, one to reconcile the checking account (automatic payments, checks, social security $$ etc) and one to categorize ALL expenses, cash, credit card, automatic payment, checks, etc. Sorry to hear the co-hosts and worker/gd quit, but at least it’s a reality check. Now you know it’s not just your perception, management is definitely doing something wrong.
Carla intense prayers for Anne. It’s awful what our justice system puts victims through. Remind me, are there children? Praying the idiot respects the no-contact order and gets a new life, far far away. It’s the weaklings you have to watch out for. Glad to hear Anne’s got a good cop in her life.
Beth yours to Rita and especially to Carla.
Allie so glad you get to go to the lake house for your birthday and bring Alfie. ‘boutdamtime…
Lisa hope the combination of (formerly failed) antibiotics and new biologic works! Again ‘boutdamtime.
Kim yours to Carla about temporary restraining orders and bullies that can “snap”. Truth and worrisome.
Rebecca thank you so much for those pics. Makes me feel less bad about my office/garage/bookshelves. Sorry your sister got such litter return on her time/effort investment but at least now she can be relieved of the burden.
Whoops, where did the morning go? Time to dress for dance class!1. Decide to look for what’s good every day this month. 1-Blue skies. 2-views of the ocean on way into town and on stroll chat with T. 3-sharing worries and laughter with D. 4-Pianist’s choice of offertory-congregation gave her an ovation. 5-Perfect temperature today, 70 degrees at 10 am, blue sky, sunshine, only the merest breeze to keep the air fresh. That “ahh I’m home” feeling. And then there was the birdsong. 6-cool still day perfect for burnbarreling the fernwhackings.7-Pomegranate/kombucha soothing my sore throat, thanks Lanette! 8-Zicam minimizing cold symptoms. 9-Joe volunteering to pick me up something from Freddie’s-Minestrone! 10-Jeopardy walking for the first time since got this cold. 11-vimeo-ed church but feel well enough to take dogs to powerline and play with plants on this gorgeous day. 12-Shower and clean linens after sweating for a week. 13-felt well enough for line dancing at the Grange.14-

I just got home from seeing my doctor. She put me off until the end of August. She didn’t fill out the paperwork they want because she’s never seen anything like it and isn’t comfortable doing it. She didn’t even write the letter today because she wants time to think how to write it so they leave me alone. She also thinks I need to see a lawyer because of the veiled threats regarding my pay and benefits.
She is also worried about my health, she did an assessment for anxiety and depression.
The highest score in anxiety was 22 I scored 19
The highest score in depression was 26 I scored 24
She said it’s all situational and if I can get out of there it will all calm down again so she doesn’t want to put me on pills when we know the solution.
So I need to find a lawyer and wait for her to send me a letter. She isn’t comfortable with having to send documentation to the woman that has harassed and bullied me. This is why I need a lawyer to see what my rights are.

Good afternoon!
Oncology visit went great. Mammogram was also clear. She said the bone bits on the CT are now identified as "sclerotic," which she said indicates healed/healing bone. Which is even better news.
One more round of Ibrance, then when I return from Belize, we are switching to Kisqali. Lots of great reports of even better outcomes. Ibrance hasn't failed, so if we don't like Kisqali, we can always return to Ibrance.
Thinking of you all and wishing you the best. So many things going on with all of you -- good and bad.

The halloumi curry hack was perfect. Halloumi is available in every little store around here, unlike paneer. I texted my son to tell him, and he said he's been using it for years, especially in tikka.
Definitely going on our rota.
Sending best wishes to you, Tracey. My elder son went through a similar thing. Horrible at the time, but now he's found his groove and is happier than ever.
Flea - Hooray for results!!!

Flea-excellent news!
TraceyI'm not sure how things work in Canada (I am pretty knowledgeable with US requirements). However, if your doctor thinks some of the papers/requests may be illegal, I would follow her advice and at least consult with an attorney. I don't know if Canada has Worker's Compensation like we do, but here if there is clearly established stress/harrassment it could be covered.
Rebecca-it looks like you and sister did tremendous work. Even though children only chose to view for 30 minutes, when sister clears out all of the stuff, if they later complain-she gave them a chance.
Barbara-guess I am just a glutton for punishment! Actually, I do still enjoy the problem solving. I am also needing to redo some succession planning. After my time here, I feel I should if I can-but not terribly long! Plus, building project probably won't be done until late in the year/early next year. I do want to see that finished.
Well, since I had so many meetings today I am going to check some emails. Two meetings tomorrow-one that should be enjoyable with my peers, then I come back to issue a discipline in afternoon. Will leave after that-food pantry tomorrow night!
Take care all,

Look into Worker's Compensation. There are pros and cons with it but it might help you in your situation.
We have an organisation here called Worker's Assist which was very helpful in the early days of my husband's saga. They offer their advice for free and help you get started with Worker's Compensation and with some of the legal issues.
Check to see if you have a similar organisation there.

Barbara, you asked about shaking the sugar. I guess you could say I am. I don’t intentionally not eat it, but we don’t keep it in the house since Dave is watching carbs. My eating boundaries are log honestly, keep calories to 1800 or less. Protein to 100 g or more, and water to 96 oz or more. Movement; steps 7500 or more, frequency walls at least 8/10 250 step walks per hour.
Calories usually hit more like 1700, but I’ve been consistently hitting my protein goals. When I eat the protein I do not want the sugar. I have been enjoying Oikos Pro yogurt with zero sugar redi whip for a protein rich dessert several nights a week.
I am really, really, really trying to lose the diet mentality. This seems to be working for me, and I don’t feel deprived.7 -
Mammogram at 10 AM....results came to me a few minutes ago....all OK...our health services are great and speedy.9

Heather - I think your DDIL sounds like a wonderful woman and especially a Mom.
Machka - we have been thinking of going camping this summer. We haven’t been to Nordegg area for years maybe that is a good place to look into. I’m not interested in camping if the fires don’t settle though.
Carla - I hope the hearing isn’t delayed too long. It’s hard when there are things hanging over your head.
Lisa - we have those warnings too and they seem to miss us while other parts of the city are hit.
Will you get to see your daughter since she is back in Texas for a few weeks?
I hope the meds work for you.
Rebecca - it’s a shame that his kids wouldn’t make more time, but I think this shows your sister that she doesn’t need to worry so much now about them wanting things and she can make decisions on what to do with stuff.
Carol - I love you me hair. I’m feeling I want to do the same thing and get a bunch cut off. I also go to Great Clips, the cost is fine and there are good stylists there.
Flea - such great news!
Ginny - thank you. I’m calling a lawyer in the morning. I need to do something to get this resolved. My doctor said even being worried about finding a job right now is hard on me.
Machka - thank you! I haven’t thought of going the WCB route. I know at one time they wouldn’t accept stress leaves.
Barbie - yay for the clear mammogram! That was fast results.
I went to ceramics tonight. I’m having such a hard time shutting my brain off.
I was able to finish my Granddaughter’s Christmas gift though. This will have a turntable for the little train to go around and a music box that will play “You are my Sunshine”.

Tracey - Yes, I am very fortunate to have Jess for my DDIL. Here she is on Tuesday, in a heatwave, just popping in to the bookshop in town to see if her new book was on display. It was!!!! Not long after that picture, she collected Edie and they went in the sea. She arrived at our house still dripping!
You have been through a trauma, you know. Sounds like you have an excellent doctor.
Actually, both my sons went through a similar thing. That's how my younger one ended up in Hove!
We heard from DH'S elder daughter who lives in south-west France. She's had a nightmare with a dog rescue. Tried everything, but was nearly dragged into a ravine by the dog, so had to send it back. She is an experienced owner and consulted a behaviour expert. She tried her best for months.
Day out today. Not great planning, with the cruise so near, but it'll probably do me good. I hope the heat doesn't melt me.
Wrist improving a bit every day.

Heather: glad to know the wrist is improving. When do you leave on the cruise?.
Flea: Hooray! It all sounds good. Enjoy Belize.
Allie:🥰 going to the lake house. I know you love that place.
Carla: That's pretty scary for Anne
Tracey: Happy Anniversary🥳. Hooray for Rodger and flowers 💐 good that doc has given you more time off.
Have a great day!

Katie-I wish I could eat 1700 cal a day and lose weight! Of course, my tracking has not been pristine of late so I am maintaining or slowly losing on more than what tracker says.
Barbie-good news on mammogram! It is amazing how quickly we can get results. I find if result is something less than perfect (like my thyroid stuff) I can work through some of the inevitable emotion stuff so when I meet with doctor I can be more rational and have my questions ready.
Tracey-love the Candyland express. I know here it is tough to get work related stress through but I have seen it happen. On the flip side, I have found many employee want to lay all of their problems with stress at work but as they talk you discover that their personal lives are out of control (controlling/abusive spouse, children who are out of control, etc.) so when they come to work they can't handle anything. It's a delicate balance-but the rest of your life seems to be rather serene and then there is the boss.
Heather-glad stepdaughter was not seriously injured with the rescue dog. That sounds so scary. Unfortunately many of those animals are so abused by the time a home is found the damage is done.
Rori-congrats on Nuggets win. I hope you were there to see in person but none of the violence afterwards.
Shorter work day today and tomorrow and off Monday. Have appointments at two places Monday so looking forward to that.
Take care all,
