After work went to the soup kitchen then in the pool for a bit. I needed to wait for a call from this lady at Replacements. I want to see if she’s interested in any more of my jewelry that I don’t wear and at the same time pick up the crystal (or what we thought was crystal) to bring home and donate. Then went to the dentist because the tooth where he did the first crown has started hurting. It hasn’t hurt in weeks. Evidently, he had to put pins in and one of the pins is now touching the nerve. He did prescribe an antibiotic (amoxicillin) and a pain pill. I probably won’t take a lot of the pain pills. Then took a walk around the block. Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll get in the pool more.
Jessie at the soup kitchen told me that she filed for divorce from Jerry and the authorities will be serving him. I’m going to stay out of it as much as possible but I have to wonder how this will affect his drinking. I know that she’s looking to marry this other guy. He’s a real good guy to her
Joy – that’s great. I never knew that there was such as thing as a universal scanner
Annie – congrats on your streak and the loss.
Kylia – so glad to hear things are going so well for Aubrey. She deserves it
Have an HOA meeting tomorrow and then a social where they’re going to have pizza and some sort of dessert.
Heather – what talent you have!
Carol and Barbara – interesting. I never thought of the fact that the sunscreen might be causing the stys. Why not? It would certainly block the ducts
I don’t really care for coconut so I never cooked with it. Yet, Jess is highly allergic to it. That just started when she was 18. Even if it’s in the air, she gets a reaction
kirkman – I loved the deep water aerobics. How I miss it!
One good thing about this tooth hurting is that I have no desire to eat anything since I’m afraid I might accidentally chew with that tooth
Off to take a shower, then maybe some TV and bed. Work tomorrow but none Sun (yippee)

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1553 calories but I did twenty minutes on the bike and an hour of yoga and thirty minutes of aerobic walking, so I had a final deficit of 25.
I have got to stop getting so upset and frustrated with my dad. He got to me again today. I have to accept the things I cannot change.

Ladies - at least one of you has mentioned a liking for Louise Penny detective novels. I just finished the first season of "Three Pines" featuring Chief Inspector Armand Gamache on Amazon Prime. Takes place in rural Quebec. Hope they have another season.
I'm on the list for several of her books from the library. Hope they are as good as the TV series.

Anniesquats100 wrote: »Allie, wow, you have really traveled! And Machka, too, although no surprise there. Beaches are gorgeous but often crowded. The last time I went, it was so crowded that I could hear two radios playing different stations and it drove me crazy.
Many of the beaches in Australia are empty. Some popular ones around Sydney are busy, and I've been to a couple there, but didn't like them. I prefer the empty ones.
Our beach is often empty.
We also LOVED the beaches along the west coast of France. After spending some time there, we talked about renting a house for the summer there. Unfortunately that hasn't transpired.Anniesquats100 wrote: »My last vacation plan was to a horse ranch in Tucson Arizona but then came Covid. I had to cancel. I love the hot sun and figured the pool would do for sunbathing. Now my parents need me, so it will be awhile before I travel again. But I could just get a lawn chair in the yard here. Hmm.
I found getting out in the garden for a couple hours a day on the weekends or doing a walk/jog to and around our beach has helped a lot in reducing my restlessness and desire for trips off our island.

Glad to see you back and glad to hear that you're feeling some better.

Machka poor scared lost bud driver. No gps onboard? your description of walking, bicycling and thoughts. “Data dump” so useful and descriptive!

Our Tasmanian buses are so incredibly behind the times.
Several years ago, they ran a survey of what people wanted and the number 1 thing was real-time information on where the buses were because it's a bit of a gamble if your bus is going to turn up or not. So they said they'd work on that.
About a year later, I emailed asking about the status of real-time information and the response was that they would have it read in 1 year when the new ticketing system came in.
I couldn't figure out what the new ticketing system had to do with getting gps and "spot trackers" on the buses, but whatever.
That was about 4 years ago and the buses still don't have gps or a new ticketing system.
Drivers use paper maps!!
They did, however, start listing the buses that we're running about 18 months ago. Prior to that, they would take buses off the routes and not tell anyone ... and deny that they had taken buses off the routes.
But they ended up leaving a young girl at a dark bus stop for an hour one time, and her parents were furious, and it made the news. As soon as it did, there was a flood of similar stories. So now they publish the buses that won't be available.
It's an ongoing saga.
They also don't treat drivers very well (that made the news too) and the turnover rate is high. So half the drivers are relatively new to driving.

Kylia - I hope you get some rest this weekend. I can’t believe your DH doesn’t want to do something so you aren’t in these all night work sessions.
That’s great news about Aubrey.
Beaches I’ve been to:
Cape Breton, NS beaches near Sydney.
Prince Edward Island - Summerside area
Daytona
Sylvan Lake, AB
I’m more drawn to the forest than the beach.
Heather - Wow! That is a beautiful painting.
It seems that we have been very fortunate here at home with the smoke. It seems to be going around us for the most part but today it is hazy and the air quality index is 7.
Mary - I hope you are rescued quickly. My youngest daughter told us yesterday while she was towing our eldest daughter’s pop up trailer last week, she had a tire blow. They didn’t have a spare so they had to leave the trailer on the side of the road and drive to the nearest town to get a tire. Her and her friend had to unload the truck to get at the jack because they had the back seat loaded. She said it was an adventure. I’m so proud that we raised out girls to be self sufficient and not panic in situations it allows them to keep their logical brain working to solve the problem.
Debbie - It’s such a shame you and your former hubby couldn’t find a way back to each other. You speak so lovingly about him and it hard to see you suffer through this marriage.
Walmart photo centre here makes puzzles.
Allie - I don’t think I would use that toilet paper. “It’s pretty so it’s for guests only. meanwhile mines hid away just barely within arms reach.😂
Annie - I think one of the most difficult places to be in is caring for our parents. My brother took the brunt of it with my grandmother and parents. When Mom went into the nursing home, it took him almost a couple of years to get back to himself. I always wished I was closer to help.
Machka - your beach looks so inviting.
For the first week since I’ve been off I have not had a text from work!
I didn’t do a lot today, I was going to start a project and got a call from a company that had sent an assessment for me to complete. I was going to do it over the weekend but they asked if I could do it right away. It was 90 minutes long.
Some was math, some data entry, some spelling and a lot of those, ask the question 200 ways to see if you give the same answers. I find them such a waste of time. Even when I was doing HR I found them useless. Manipulators and such still pass though tests.
I think I mentioned that I was going to ask Rodger to design a built in for me. I have a basic drawing and size of what I wanted and he slipped in my mind and made it perfect.
The ends are doors that will have one shelf in each for storing my scrapbooks and albums.
The centre opening at the bottom is an place for an electric fireplace insert.
Above this will be the TV and we are going to cut end tables my Dad made for me that are too big for my house and make them into shelves. Well I say we, we all know that Rodger will be doing the work though.
This will probably be a July or August project.
I’m going to ceramics tomorrow to make up for my last class I missed last night.

Hi Gals,
It seems like both weeks more and weeks less since Mom went home but it is 2 weeks today. I have seen her once each of both weeks taking her to doctor’s appointments. Even with the driving time I have my peace and quiet back. I get to take a shower without comments about taking too much time or taking them too often, I am back to eating one or more meals each day with you all (I sit at my kitchen table with my tablet and catch up) And no comments about my diet – which honestly is pretty darn good, no matter what she had to say.
I have worked in my veggie garden, done a ton of embroidery, and been up and down on my roof cutting back tree limbs that were over hanging the roof. The house insurance company was having a fit, I think I have done it to their liking and will be checking in on Monday with them.
Levi has been groomed (by me) a few times and washed once, I have most of the laundry done, and have cleaned a good portion of the house, but there is more to do, certain things just did not get done with Mom here. She followed me every where and would be stepping in/over/and around the cord and vacuum tube for the vacuum ( I have a canister) - A walker, electrical cord, the vacuum tube, a dog and a 94 year old telling you how to vacuum was just more than I could handle. So I would vacuum a room here another there when she napped. It was a delight to just take 30 minutes and do the whole thing all at once.
Just the way timing worked in these 2 weeks my DN and his girlfriend visited, my god kids (both from the east coast – she came from Boston, and he came from Miami) have all been by to visit. No one for very long, DN and girlfriend for dinner, god son for a couple of hours, god daughter for 24 hours. But lots of hugs and just so nice to see them.
I didn’t take notes – sorry hugs to all!
Annie I did think of you and the challenges with dad – I am thinking that you could come at this from another direction. Instead of telling him NO, or begging him, He wants to be helpful and needed and the trimming (or what ever) needs to be done, so he wants to do what he has always done – Could you convince him that you should be taught how to do it so you can help? And have him teach you so at least you are doing some if not most of it? Or maybe “loan” the ladder to a neighbor for a few weeks? Or take the saw/pruners into be sharpened? Or even convince him there is something you need his help on that is more urgent? Even if that is a lower shrub that would get him off the ladder. In dealing with my mom it was clear that she needed to feel needed and valued by her standards – so for her it was cleaning – she cleaned all my kitchen cupboards it is nuts as now it is hard to find things, but she was “helping” . Your dad may be bored. Or needing to be away from Mom so he doesn’t see every time her dementia shows so he can continue to believe she is ok.

Annie - Kim has a very good point. My Dad found out in September 2012 that his lung cancer was terminal. In October one of his nieces asked him to build a deck for her. He went and did it, oxygen tank in tow. He wanted to get this done for her. One of his nephews actually helped him as did my brother so he wouldn’t be alone doing it. He caught pneumonia from doing that and I swear that it sped things up, but he wanted to do and he had no regrets.
I had a hard time with this as this niece did not come see him in the hospital until the night before he passed when I guilted her. She was a nurse working at the hospital so she had no excuse.

THANKS!! I feel the same but just isn't met to be I guess. At least I have the wonderful memories and have him as my best friend always.
I will check with Walmart- THANK YOU for the suggestion. Price is good but will see what Shutterfly is with shipping. It is $7 for shipping at Walmart so $25 total. I will go to the store and see if I can get it made there.

Tracey I love the design of your built in shelving unit. You’ll have to take pictures when you’re finished. We ended up waiting an hour for the tow truck driver. He was on a call where a semi truck with pigs tipped over in the median of the freeway and they were running alll over the freeway. He fixed our tire and we were on the road a half hour later. I called around and found a trailer tire at Fleet Farm and the guy said that they would probably be able to squeeze us in to put a new tire on the rim but wouldn’t be able to put it back on the trailer until Wednesday. We said thanks that we would be happy just to have a spare tire. When we got there we lucked out and the two vehicles that three of them were working on needed to have parts picked up at the dealership. So they had plenty of time to change out our spare tire and put the new one on the rim, balance it and put it back on!

Lanette, Louise Penny's Gamache books are better than the movies were, in my opinion. I found it difficult watching the show as it didn't follow the books as closely as I would have liked. I think one always likes things the way they first encountered it, so because I read the books first, I enjoyed them more. I have read them all, most of them more than once. I would recommend that you read them in order, there is enough of a story "behind the scenes" as it were that it is worth it to read in order.
Allie, unfortunate that you can't sell the bed. Maybe Katla's daughter would like it..... (since she didn't get Katla's old mattress) I know you are too far apart for that to even be a valid thought, but it just struck me as a bit funny that the daughter wanted the old mattress and you have one that you can't seem to get rid of.
Lisa, sorry to hear you had a bad reaction to the new meds, hope you can find an alternative! (other than no meds, that is)
Not too many beaches in my life, although I do live near an ocean now. I do like water, but I think my preference is for running water, so rivers and/or waterfalls. I grew up near a wonderful waterfall, it's called Takakkaw falls. I just googled it, so you can too! The power of water is what fascinates me, Niagara Falls had me spellbound.
It's getting late, must go to bed. Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Moving Time: 1:42:06
Elapsed Time: 1:44:49
Pace: 10:11 /km
Elevation: 76 m
Calories: 1,062 ... although I don't actually believe that.
It's a start.

Good morning, chickadees.
Heather: 🥰 the elegant ballerina, and the Magic Flower Tree.
I live near the coast. There are so many beaches to choose from, all with their own appeal. The West Coast of Ireland is our favourite place to visit because of the beaches.
It would never occur to me to wear headphones when out walking. I see so many people oblivious to the world around them.
Time for my Saturday trip to the local shops.

No, me neither.
Aside from them making me feel seasick when I walk (discovered back 20-odd years ago), I am surrounded by noise.
I am in webinars and TEAMS meetings all the time at work and the TV is on during the evening.
Going for a walk for an hour at lunch or even the little walk with Rhody in the evening without technology in my ears is lovely.
