@martaindale lol yeah, not falling off mountains is generally my main goal in these crazy races I end up doing. I'm trying to decide whether the fact that I will know about the drops right next to the trails even if I can't see them will be good or bad. Maybe innocence would have been bliss in this case...
Your watch will get used to your activities eventually and then it'll tell you you're in recovery as soon as you run a few minutes less than usual. Or decide you need 72 hours to recover from a shake out jog.4 -

I ran 7 miles this morning. It wasn't as cool as yesterday, but it was ok. It was about 74°F, but the dew point was 57° so it wasn't too uncomfortable. and it was really pretty morning with a clear sky and lots of bright stars. It is supposed to be warmer the next couple of days. I guess fall isn't actually here and we still have a little more summer to go.
Sorry about your phone and the GI problems @Scott6255. Talk about adding insult to injury.
Hope you feel better soon @polskagirl01. In my opinion, ice cream does make everything more bearable.

51.60/80 mile goal
Today, I did my scheduled Foundation Run on the driveway after I worked all morning taking kids blood pressures at a local elementary school (health screening part time job) and before going to mom's to mow her lawn.
It was nice out at only 73F (22.8C) at 2 pm. Run was 5 min Zone 1, 15 min Zone 2, 5 min Zone 1. My HR was running a little high today, so some of it I went my feel so I wasn't walking the entire time. LOL Total was 1.85 miles in 25:26 min. Avg HR was 142 with a max of 155 bpm. Zone splits were 13:54, 13:32, and 14:13 min/mile.
Yesterday, I did my planned Fast Finish run. Zone splits were 14:20, 14:09, and 11:21 min/mile. (I was faster today with the same zones. Maybe that's why my HR was up. LOL) I ran a total of 1.84 miles and walked 1.26 miles for a total of 3.1 miles.
After the run, I worked at daycare from 12:30 - 5:45 and then played league tennis for about 1.5 hours. My partner and I won! Yeah. 6-1, 7-5. We sort of fell apart at the beginning of the second set, but never got real behind. Our team also won the match! One more league match next Monday night.7 -
Oh no @Scott6255 . Sorry about the GI issues and broken phone screen. Was it insured? Hope you are feeling better today.
@martaindale Glad your calf is feeling better.
Sorry you're sick @polskagirl01 ? I hope once the cold goes away you'll stay LC symptom free. Wouldn't that be great and and ironic cure? Sorry the cold is hitting you hard. Hahaha about all that ice cream you had to eat to empty the containers to make more room in the freezer.
@eleanorhawkins That race sounds .... well interestingly hard and slightly dangerous, esp. in the dark. It's good that you got a preview so you know what to expect. At least those sections won't be a surprise in the dark.

Congrats on your tennis match win @quilteryoyo!2

I am happy to report that I felt horrible attempting a little run today. I am looking forward to tomorrow's run

Morning everyone!
Got in 7.07 Miles this morning (09"20). Strava tells me I have crossed 100 for the month... so should exceed my start of the month target of 140M, and then some!
@Laurz9191 apple slices? grilled meat? Damn. So healthy!
@polskagirl01 😱 how do you forget about *THAT MUCH* ice-cream!?!? The raspberry swirl one looks untouched and unopened. No need to add ice-cream to your next Polish equivalent Costco sklep trip!
@__Tams__ I think I'm the only one here that runs hungover lol
Feels horrible doing it but I think it helps when I sweat that sh- t outta the system
@Scott6255 phone repaired yet?
@eleanorhawkins well done!! 🙌
@quilteryoyo well done on the drive wuns and doubles tennis7 -

It was 79°F again this morning, so definitely still summer. I am jealous of your fall @Teresa502 . It was kind of windy too at 13 mph. I don't really like running in wind, but it did kind of help cool it down a bit. There were two little dogs that ran out of their yard barking at me. But I just stopped and turned around and yelled a them to go home, and they did. Other than that it was pretty uneventful, but a nice 7 mile run.

Temps are back in the 70's (booo) but it was only 72 (so, better than the summer - yay?). I can tell we are past the worst of the heat and am looking forward to proper fall temps.
Garmin upgraded me to maintaining today. 😄
We started putting up Halloween decorations. My husband loves Halloween and has been trying to start since early September. I held him off for a couple of weeks but figured it's close enough. Got more to do, but it's looking good so far.5 -
Just did 6 TM miles after work.

I'm still blowing, coughing, sneezing, but getting better.

@chris_in_cal I hope you feel better soon!!!
@martaindale It always feels good when Garmin ups your status . I always feel like a rock star when I am told I am "productive" (that sadly doesn't happen very often). Usually it's just "maintaining". Have fun decorating!
Today I went running with @eleanorhawkins 's voice in my head, telling me not to overdo it . The legs felt ok, but the marathon definitely was quite a beating for them. I did feel really good though and the weather was the perfect weather that I could have used on Sunday (in lieu of our little heat wave)!!! It was nice and cool and in the 70s. That kept my pulse down and I really focused on not pushing the pace and letting my body speak to me in terms of how it was doing. I ran 7.3 km.
@quilteryoyo You are always so busy. Good job winning your league match!
@tarun_yadavA I'm sure you'd be pleased to know that the apple slices and grilled meat "healthy food" was only on Sunday. These last three days have been more - let's say - unhealthy post-marathon food - lots of bread, french fries and a few marshmellows (because I needed something sweet and we didn't have anything peanut butter and chocolate related or the mass of ice cream that @polskagirl01 has (had?) in the house. Now, I've had enough though and am ready to get back to healthy eating .
So far for September 141.9/160km.
Tomorrow I will run (just a bit) and aim to do some cross training as well, before taking the weekend off.6 -
Good morning everyone 😊
Got in 6.54M (09"24).
@Laurz9191 glad to hear you've been re-carbing appropriately since!
(Oh, side note-
I'm actually headed to Berlin next year... so will ask you for some tips on Must-try sweet stuff/baked goods, nearer the time!)
(Beanshtick (sp?) only thing I've ever had... ! Though we do get those Rittersport chocolates here too... [Love the Marzipan one!] )
Sticking with sweet stuff....
@polskagirl01 ... not heard from her since her hoarded ice-cream revelation!?
Ice cream coma somewhere?? Lol
Have a nice day all! 😊7 -
Thanks @Scott6255 , @Laurz9191 , and @tarun_yadavA !
Glad you are feeling some better @chris_in_cal . Hopefully you'll be back to normal soon.
Great running @tarun_yadavA ! You are so consistent and speedy.
I'm loving this cooler weather @Teresa502 !
You're doing great @kgirlhart . I hope your weather cools soon.
@martaindale Great "maintenance" run! Garmin often tells me I am unproductive. I ignore him.
Sounds like your recovery is going well @Laurz9191 !

Well that took some catching up. The boating was sort-off fun. 3 people on a boat who are definitely amateurs with two of them judging each other and b*tching to me about the other! The best behaved award went to the dog who was living his best life, life-jacket and all.Managed a 5k, 10k and 15k in the week and still going to come up short on my target this month.
Great marathon @Laurz9191 , there is no such thing as a disappointing marathon if you finish!
On the watch front I have had a fenix for a few years and my better half upgraded me to a 7 when I signed up to run the marathon for the Stroke Association.
Not had a run this week. It is a slippery slope...5 -
Nice pictures @TheMrWobbly. Sorry the boat trip wasn't ALL fun.
@martaindale just getting in any kind of run is productive. Ignore Garmin!
Had an appointment at the house this morning, so was able to sleep a little later, and get out for a little longer run (8 miles). Still f'n HOT, but next week should be better (seems like I say that almost every week. One of these weeks it's bound to be true)!
7 -
@TheMrWobbly Nice pictures! The dog does look very content."Scott6255 wrote: »@martaindale just getting in any kind of run is productive. Ignore Garmin!
100% agree. It's amusing. I keep telling my watch "You don't know me!" I bet I'll start seeing more positive feedback when I begin speed work again.
And agree with your assessment of the weather. One of these days it has to finally be cool!5 -

I did a short 3-mile run after my strength workout this morning. It was 57F but still very dark at 6:00 am. Seems like it was getting daylight at that time just a few days ago. On the bright side, the sky was full of stars. I will be hiking and camping in the Great Smoky Mountains for the next three days so no running. Just climbing mountains. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
@kgirlhart – I hope your Fall weather arrives soon! I really don’t know how ya’ll do it!
Love the photos @TheMrWobbly!

Still f'n HOTAugust was San Diego’s 10th consecutive month that ended up cooler than normal. A stretch that long hasn’t happened in more than a half century.

My weather app said it was 80°F this morning, feels like 83°. I think it may have dropped down to 79° by the end of my run, but it was hot and I was dripping sweat. I did run 7 miles and it was a nice enough run, I am just ready for it to be cooler. I did see those dogs that ran at me yesterday, but their owner was on the porch and called them back. I hope she's not going to keep letting them out in the mornings, or if she does I hope she won't leave them unattended again like she did yesterday.

Ice cream coma somewhere??
You haven't heard from me because I got more miserable-cold-sick and was laying in bed binge watching Turkish drama (Magnificent Century) and not wanting to talk to anyone. I'm still coughing up junk, but starting to improve somewhat.
My Squash Army is doing well. I think we've thwarted the slug enemy invasion. I didn't find a single one this morning. The 2 big squash are starting to turn orange. There are lots of smaller ones, but these still look the most promising.
The pumpkin-shaped one is on the same vine as other little ones that are shaped like butternut squash, so I'm doubting it's anything different.10 -
Morning everyone!
Got in a 5 (09"09).
@TheMrWobbly nice pics mate
@polskagirl01 hope you feel better soon!
Not heard of that Turkish one... Netflix/prime?
Currently on 'Only Murders in the Building' S3 (think that's Hulu for you guys in the US). Love, love, LOVE it. Grew up on the humour of Steve Martin - so nostalgic a little. And he's still got it. Selena Gomez bounces off him/Martin short really well too. Not to mention all the great cameos... Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep etc etc.
Before that... binged 'Black Bird' in 24 hours. Undercover serial killer stuff based on a true story. So so grim but so so good.
@polskagirl01 ps: yes, you are an ice-cream snob! Lol7 -
@polskagirl01 - funny you mention Turkish drama, my Netflix is flooded with Turkish programs at the moment. Before that it was all Korean programes2
-
Hello everyone!
@Teresa502 Enjoy the Smokies! I would love to see some pictures of what it looks like!
@TheMrWobbly That sounds like a cool trip, bickering and all .
@polskagirl01 I hope you feel better soon! It sounds like you have effectively cleared all the slugs away from the area .
Today I went to the gym and did 9.1 treadmill kms. I wanted to do some strength training initially, but then I it would be smarter to let my body have the weekend to recover a bit more first.
I am happy I am most likely going to reach my goal this month! 151.1/160km for September!7 -

Appears in a lot of Ricky Gervais' material too.
As for Selena - yeah shes quite good in this. They all bounce off each other really well1 -

Another 80°F morning for me. I ran 3 miles. I actually ran 3.13. I can't seem to run just 3 without rounding it up to be a 5K. I saw a skunk, but other than that, it was pretty uneventful. I'm almost to my goal. I can't believe that September is almost over.
