Morning all
Got in 4 1/2 Miles (09"52).
Don't know how but left ankle was playing up. Didnt twist it or anything. May have planted it down awkwardly without feeling it... but at two different points, had to stop and stretch and roll ankle joint about. 🤷
PS:
@SummerSkier hey Miss Anti social... so if I visit Austin again... guessing you're a Hard No for a loop of Ladybird Lake! 😂6 -
Oh - @tarun_yadavA I would never say no if asked but I have that "dont ask type aura" I think. I still think of it as Town lake. LOL. Maybe those new shoes are not so good for the ankle. Hope its OK.....2

8 miles this morning. No zombie tree attacks today 😁

I knew it would be a challenge to do 100 miles this month, but didn't expect it to be this close. To get there, I have to run 5 miles each for the remaining 3 days. I guess I slacked off a bit too much earlier in the month. Im planning to make it happen, though .
My husband made me a birthday dinner last night. It was amazing, but a steak dinner a couple of hours before running didn't sit well. I got it done, but it was not one of my best runs.6 -

If I ever find myself in London or you find yourself in Houston, we’ll make it happen!
@martaindale yayyy! Done! 😊
@Teresa502 that's cool about you and @quilteryoyo !!
@eleanorhawkins ... you're back in England next year right???
@tarun_yadavA I'm running the South Downs Ultra 50k at the end of May. Hint, hint!7 -
@eleanorhawkins LOL! 50K? And you called me scary at the start of the month!
Though guessing you'll be here for a bit in the run-up to the Ultra? I'm sure we could make something happen! 😊 tune-up run?
@SummerSkier hmmm 🤔 you certainly don't give off that 'dont ask'/'dont approach' aura!
Noted RE: what locals call it!
Such a beautiful route... but was so so hungover from the night before
@__Tams__ well done on nearing your 100K goal. One 5Miler to nail it! 💪
@Zaxa2021 happy belated birthday! ... wow. Running *after* a Steak dinner!?!? Kudos 🙌
I can barely move after one lol
4 -
@tarun_yadavA lol yeah but it's flat compared to the races I have before that! I'll be combining it with family visits is Sussex and Kent, though whether that'll be before or after the race will mostly depend on flight prices. Would be cool to arrange something, though a tune-up run even at your easy pace would probably kill me hahahaha4

@Scott6255 Glad the Zombies left you alone today!
Yesterday I ended up taking a day off because I went to a brunch (I know there are many differing opinions on brunches in this group). I had a good time, maybe too good, and couldn’t be bothered to run again under the full heat of the midday sun! So I guess I do kind of agree with @tarun_yadavA that brunches can throw you off schedule . It was still lovely though.
Today I wasn’t going to let anything stop me and got 14.1km in. It was a nice run. Tomorrow will be my last run this month. I have an overnight hiking test trip planned with the kids. We are hiking to a friend’s house who lives in a village somewhat nearby (16-18 km) and will camp there and explore some caves in the nearby forest the next day. Hopefully everyone will have fun and I won’t have to carry the little guy too much.
186.8/160km for September.6 -
Happy Belated Birthday @Zaxa2021!
Your hiking adventure sounds fun @Laurz9191! Hope the kids do well!2 -
@yirara I'm glad you enjoyed your summer vacation and are getting back into running. You're stamina will come back fairly quickly, I'm sure.
Nice run @kgirlhart and look at you already over 20 miles over your goal!
@tarun_yadavA I hope your ankle is okay.
@Scott6255 Glad there were no zombie tree attacks this morning!
Happy Birthday @Zaxa2021 ! I hear you on the steak dinner before running. You did great to get it done. Pulling for you to get the 100 miles.
@Laurz9191 Great running and I hope you and the family enjoy your hike and day of exploring.

75.90/80 mile goal
I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted my activities...4 days. I guess time flies when your busy. LOL
On Monday I ran my scheduled Fast Finish Run: 5 min Z1, 20 min Z2, 10 min Z3. I was pretty slow, with the zone 3 run averaging 12:56 min/mile. Afterwards, I gleaned the leaves out of my gutters and blew off the porches and driveway. I rested a bit and then played tennis. It was our last league match. My partner and I won easily at 6-0, 6-0. Our team also won overall that match.
Tuesday I did a Foundation Run on the driveway after helping do health screenings at a local elementary school (I take blood pressures) and a doctor's appointment....annual. It was also slow and I was surprised that the in order to keep my HR in zone 2, my pace was actually slower than the zone 1 five minutes. I guess because of HR creep and getting tired.
Yesterday, I worked at daycare from 7:45 - 3:45 - in the 2 year old class room. When I got home, I went out for a two mile walk on the driveway before heading out for church at 5:30.
Today, I helped with health screenings at another local elementary school. When I got home, I did a two mile wun on the driveway. I was scheduled to do Hill Repeats, but didn't think that was a great idea since I am heading out in a few minutes to play tennis again. So, today will be cross training and I'll try to get the hill repeats in tomorrow.
For those who are interested, I have an update on my cousin's situation under the spoiler. For those who are new or may not remember, I am my cousin's power of attorney. He is legally blind and has other issues. I was able to find an assisted living for him a couple of years ago that he could only afford with TN Care (Tennessee's Medicaid program). We got him into the program, but during CoVID they weren't doing the yearly re-assessments and I made the mistake of letting his bank account accumulate too much money. So, when they started looking at everyone again, he had too much money for Medicaid and lost that resource. I tried desperately to find him a new assisted living that he could afford without Medicaid because I was so tired of trying to deal with them and get answers to questions I had. We found one place that was closer to my house, but that fell through.
So, we decided the best thing to do was to leave him where he is and try to get him back on Medicaid after his bank account got low enough. We started that process on August 11....well the assisted living director sent in a referral for him.
We had a meeting with the person who takes all the information and turns it into TN Care for them to start their process on Sept 12th. After that, they had 3 - 4 business days to approve (or disapprove) him medically, and then it can take another 45 days to get approved for Medicaid. I was sweating that I had waited too long to start the process and he was going to be completely out of money before he was approved.
I got a phone call today that he had been approved medically AND was approved for Medicaid!!!! They will enroll him next week! I told the lady I was really surprised and she said she was too because it rarely happens this quickly. She said it really helped that I had all of the information they needed when we met on the 12th and was willing to give them all they needed - I guess some people try to withhold info or something. Anyway, I AM ELATED and wanted to share with you - my friends.

It was a lovely morning. The moon was gorgeous. It was about 68°F and the dew point was 57°. I ran 6 miles and it was just so nice. I even saw a couple of deer today.
Happy Birthday @Zaxa2021!
I'm so glad that everything is working out for your cousin @quilteryoyo.

@Zaxa2021 I also want to wish you a happy birthday. I can’t imagine running after eating steak! If you cancel that, I’m sure you can reach your monthly goal!
I rounded off the month with a 9km run this morning, bringing my monthly total to 195.9/160km. Bring it on October . No, I don’t know if I can match this month’s mileage. I am going to be in France 🇫🇷 for work for a week- will have to see if I can squeeze any runs in.6 -

The local football club are running a C25K for charity and my daughter who hates exercise wanted to go so we did that in the evening but because I'm determined to hit my 50 mile goal I got some miles done in the morning. It was fun running with others and they do stretching too which I always neglect.
@quilteryoyo - You have done great work for your cousin. I'd definitely want you in my corner!6 -
117 against 100 goal. Gorgeous moon this morning altho I slept in so I had to run out to take pictures early before I actually ran today. It does feel like the mornings are slowly getting a little cooler tho. Of course it's almost oCTOBER!!!
It's been a decent month. My back is getting better and I have not had to take any pain killers for a few days. Sometimes I do use ice still of course. I have been doing my every other day weights and I think maybe that is helping along with some more intense ab work to strengthen my core and hopefully the muscles in my back which apparently are always just on the edge of disaster.
I have been doing a cut for the past 2 weeks and am down 3 pounds - all within my maintenance range but I was hating the roll around my belly button which is probably an aging thing. Anyway, my TDEE is close to 1950 cals based on this small 2 week sampling but most encouraged by an inch off my waist and maybe an inch off that stupid belly button pudge.6 -

Easy run this morning. A few others already mentioned this, but the moon was really pretty this morning! Overall uneventful, good enough run.
I got up early yesterday to go to a 6am Pilates class because I couldn't make the afternoon one. It's a different kind of hard to do that sort of workout in the predawn hours. Running is sort of mindless. You can zone out a bit and let your legs carry you. With Pilates you have to listen to positioning cues and you're exerting in a different way that requires more concentration. I won't be doing that routinely, but it's nice to know that I can make that class and still get to work on time. It's an option in a pinch.5 -
Nice run @kgirlhart . I love that you see a lot of deer.
Congratulations on exceeding your goal @Laurz9191 . Enjoy France next month.
Nice running @Teresa502 . And thank you.
Thanks @Mari33a . Glad you're daughter ran the 5k and sounds like she enjoyed it. That's great.
Great running @SummerSkier ! Lovely picture..
Thanks to everyone who commented about my cousin. I'm glad I can do that for him and so relieved that it was fairly easy, and so quick, to get him back in Medicaid.4 -

Shoe porn. Many of you know I love the nike racing shoes. Lightweight springy etc but man are they pricey. And they keep changing the styles. I decided to branch out and try these. I like to shop around and ones that don't work out for running are normally great for playing tennis or walking anyway. Unless the style ends up too awful then they can go back...
These are about 6 ounce which is nicely lightweight. They fit well. WIll do a maiden run in them tomorrow.
I find it amusing that this color was almost half price from Puma. It's not ugly and sure will be bright for running in the dark. LOL.
8 -
Cool looking shoes @SummerSkier! Hope they work well for you.
That's a lot of treadmill miles @Zaxa2021!
But I don't blame you (not sure where you live but if it is anything like Texas....) So it was 80F this morning when I woke up and I just couldn't bring myself to deal with that again. Just ridiculous for it to be that hot at 4am at the very end of September!!! So did 8 TM miles after work.
Might hit 200 miles for the month if I do 12 miles tomorrow, but it is supposed to be near 80F in the morning, so it's not likely. See you all in October!!

Lol, agreed. I'm in the Phoenix area. It's still over 100F in the evening when I get the chance to break away from the kids, around 7pm. Treadmill may be a bit boring, but at least the gym has air conditioning!
